Hong Leong Bank's 1% Cash Back VISA Essential credit card is back !

Passed through a Hong Leong Bank branch just now. Saw this VISA Essential ad on the large tempered screen window. There is no information about the Hong Leong Bank 1% Cash Back VISA Essential credit card on their website. Please visit any of Hong Leong Bank 186 branches nationwide to obtain an application form for this card

Finally saw someone with a Centurion Card.....

During the HLB cash back promotion held from end 08 to early 09, HLB deducted points to offset the cash rebates given. I also felt it's unfair and I highlighted my concern to HLB. The following 5% cash back promotion held from Feb to May this year was conducted without deducting reward points. However, the current promotion giving kids free meals seems unattractive to me. Furthermore, do bear in mind that its reward points expire every 3 years.

She can't force you to sign 3 application forms for 3 different cards. She seemed to have bluffed you for greater commission. It is unethical.

I did make a complaint to the CS and the staff promised me for an investigation. Since then I didn't get any response from the respective staff. I was tired of calling the bank again and explaining the whole story to another CS staff. In the end, I cancelled the cc, and my nightmare had ended.

Perhaps your Black card makes you too high profile to own other cards.

SCB normally takes 2 weeks to process the application.

I'm using a maybank credit card.
The bank's profit charges, they didn't state it in my credit card's account in m2u.
They only state it in the credit card bill each month.
Is that normal?

CS normally will not know. You may need to write in. Further, supp card does not carry any weight when applying for your own principle card. Another reason could be you are already having too many cards ie. cumulative CL threshold in breach per their requirement, so maybe you need to cancel one or two cards to make way?

Well, I been invited to join Amex Platinum members sometimes ago. So I dont think I dint qualify for this JustOne card. Furthermore, Amex Gold Charge Card have higher requirement than JustOne and I easily meet those requirement. So put the Amex Centurion away, and still my financial history is strong. And I dont think holding multiple card is the problem as Dozz have 12 cards

Erh, its not how many cards you have but how much liability the banks are willing to take on. Amex knows you but not SCB, so very different scenario. PB for eg will not approve anyone with more than 6 CCs etc. And Dozz is a high roller who even got his Amex Plat AF waived, when its supposedly unwaiveable, so guess can't take him as the normal benchmark, right?

Hmm.. That make sense. But still don't know why I not eligible for the JustOne card

Let's wait for another 30-60 min and I ring the SCB. Will let you guys know.

Don't take it so badly, its not that you are not eligible but just that they are too prudent

tgeoklin made very valid statements - u probably didn't get the card approved because you're seen as high credit risk to SCB. In any case, U shouldn't need to worry about it. Btw I thought you're in Sydney, hence Y the need for this card?!

And Dozz has 14 cards, not 12

Hi everyone. Talk to the credit department just now. Been inform reason for the rejection is because of process department are unable to contact me via my mobile for verification. Also they asking for my epf statement. The application expired 3 days after they can't contact me..
How do I get those cards ? Maybe because I'm Rich? Joking.
I'm nothing compare to other reader here.

In the film version of Quantum of Solace, James Bond has his Centurion Card rejected at the airport after "M" revokes all of his passports and credit cards. The card is black and the AMEX logo is very visible in the scene. James Bond's Centurion Card is also seen in the previous film Casino Royale, when Bond uses it to pay for a villa at the Ocean Club in the Bahamas. The black card is visible as he hands it over to the receptionist.
