My gold card from HLB has been upgraded to VISA Platinum a few days ago with given a RM30k credit limit. My annual income is just slightly over the 60k mark.

The terms of the card is free for life for primary and one sub card. Terms is just swipe 2 time per month. The card look nice with the eagle logo situated at the back of the card instead at the front for gold and classic cards which I previously had from the same bank. It has a rainbow color hologram on the entire card, and the background color is dark silver. The PLATINUM wording is medium in size at the top left hand corner.

I feel happy because I finally achieved the dream of owning a PLATINUM card. My question is, do you think it is fame and fortune to own such a card with this credit limit and such given terms? Besides they are all plastic cards.

Anyone of you got the same terms for your PLATINUM card?

I guess the game in life is like that, it falls into stages, achievements and hierarchy in the society. Thats why we have levels in organizations, types of examinations (1st class honors, 2nd upper, 2nd lower degrees and etc). For example a piece of degree is just a plain paper with some scriblings on it but what matters is the core value of the contents of that paper.

I thinks same here for these plastic cards. It mirrors your status in the society. Some of us can get Platinums very easily and we critisice every bit of loopholes there maybe. BUT to some people they tried very hard to get their application approved otherwise.

The 30k credit limit is just a standby monetary sum in case I need to use the $$$ urgently but I always know my boundary. When I go Genting casinoes, I always leave my credit card at home and just bring few grand of cash to have some fun.
Itv is very inconvenient to carry 30k of cash compared to credit line.

Thanks for your view.

Doesn't matter to be closed or moved because I just need some feedbacks. What I mentioned about the degrees is to allow a better understanding to the concept of hierarchy in reality. I didn't press on the academic notion or further the subject description.

I deleted the "my thread" as soon as I realised it was a typo mistake. As for the MOD to delete or moved the other thread, I think it is based on the double postings policy that I later on learned. Doesn't matter anyway.

Yes, I am new and some typo mistakes doesn't be minded. smile.gif

Long live Michael Jackson.

Wow, "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs", sound like Diploma level Business Management semester 1 stuff...hahahahaha. All I know today is Ronnie O'Sullivan, Roger Federer, Christiano Ronaldo.

Thanks for all your replies everyone. rclxms.gif

I obtained the HLB Plat without applying for it. It was sent as an upgrade. I guess my 3 apartments in Penang loan were from HLB. After I paid all the mortages (melangsaikan hutang) for the apartments, they still want to do business with me. From time they also send OD worth 20k and 30k for me, but I flushed them away.

Just now I went shopping at Queens Bay Mall, HSBC got promotion for VISA Infinite. What is the min quali for this card? I didn't have time to ask them.

I agree that one can be rob off with their money. Penang is not a safe place. rclxub.gif

Thinkerbell, " honestly do NOT know what HLB was thinking in giving you RM30k CL when your annual income reported was RM60k.", you mean my quali is a bit lower than the min quali for the card pplication? Well I think laws and procedures are just sets of rules....plain human rules.

For some getting the PLATINUM card is like getting a piece of nice meat in world war 2. So no matter what the credit limit is, I still will be happy. I do not require that much of money in life.

tq.

I have been private message by err...forgot his name. reminding me that my PLAT is not free unless swiped 2 times per month.

Common, wake up la, 2 times only la, not 200 times per month. Furthermore the swipe is in ANY amount, be it rm50 per swipe for my MyVi or RM80 for my VIOS. I had to do groceries shopping easily beyond rm400 per month. Other enterainment expenses like movies, astro, computerv gadgets, hobbies, restaurants I have never included to be mentioned.

The term free to me is trully FREE because it is 24 swipes per year and 2 swipes per month is NOT compulsory. The swipes will be totalled up in the 12th month. If not met then rm388 annual fees will be imposed. The rm388 is not really a big amount la.

Finally I met someone who understand the thing I am trying to say. Bravo......to FALA

"Just observing and wanted to point out something. For the guy who mentioned "Why is HLB giving you 30k limit Plat when your annual income is 60k". I was laughing at this statement dude! Annual income does not represents a person's "value". He might have few hundred k's sitting in FD or other assets which you can't see on the "surface" Only the banks knows how much your risk and worth. You might be earning 100k per annum but if you have no assets/savings = it equals to 0."

I just called up the HLB card center on behalf of my friend asking to get a PLATINUM application details. The guy from the HLB card center is Mr.Au Yong and he said that if anyone has a credit limit over 18k of any card from other banks can be considered to have HLB Platinum, but the decision is from the bank's management. Also he said that a minimum annual income of rm180k is an added advantage to support the application. Website says rm70k annual income at least.

Hope this will help anyone who is looking forward to own HLB PLAT. The number to call to get info is 1800-3-888888, then press 1 and then press 1 again.

Better to pay all outstanding balance before you apply for other loans so that you have a clean record. Otherwise they might use the owing as a rejection. Besides paying minimum per month will incure miscelenous charges, finance charges, other charges until KEPALA PENING case.

If you have bad debts in any account for example cheque tendang case or too many cards outstanding balance, the inter banks also can check your status one. My friend kena like this la, he finally obtain a personal loan from another bank to settlle some of the debt. He now still got 20k plus to deal with.

I always settle my outstanding within 20 days allowed timeframe so that I don't kena interest. This is just my view and not suitable for everyone else.

QUOTE(Noyoudontcare @ Jul 6 2009, 03:38 PM)
I wonder

If I dont pay my outstanding balance in full but I keep paying the minimum  monthly payment, do you think it will affect my loans prospect in the future ?

Are these Elite and Signature cards more higher standard than Plats? I search the web and the cards are not that artfully designed. Woooaa blow me down 150k per annum !

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 6 2009, 04:39 PM)
They are already here, namely RHB Infinite, SCB Infinite, CIMB/DA World Mastercard & MBf World Mastercard if I remembered correctly. Min income required is RM150k and above.

How to afford such Datuk Datin standard cards? Sure a showoff la if use ! Respect la.

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 6 2009, 05:16 PM)
YES, these are the highest range cards by Visa/Master

As far as Visa is concerned, the signature cards were introduced in the US many years back and then replaced by the Infinite cards, which was supposedly a credit cum charge card. Signature cards on the other hand was supposed to be a co-branded card with prominant brand partners but now since overshadowed by the infinite cards.

World Mastercard is Master Card's version of the Visa Infinite while the Elite Version was supposedly a one up-manship. Closest version in M'sia would be the CIMB Enrich World Mastercard.

Guess its not how it looks but what it stands for that counts  tongue.gif

It is very embarrasing to the card holder when this happen. Other customers or the cashier will make funny faces.
The card holder also will like have no trust feeling from the bank.

What I think is that the merchant or that card transactions have problem or is suspected being hacked. Thats why the bank call the card owner. It is all for your own good........

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 7 2009, 07:19 AM)
Hey, don't he knows Maybank don't take instructions from their card or account holder? Seriously, its a useless bank with useless products. The only reason its still alive is due to political support. Before I get flamed, Amex is not by Maybank, they merely bought out the franchise under ridiculous terms which is why they need to give such good rewards to make it a success asap to in order recoup  tongue.gif

Added on July 7, 2009, 9:24 amI got a colleague and he says that he have 5 cards (3 from Maybanks (1 classic+1 Gold + 1 Mastercard)) and 2 HLB (Gold + Platinum).

He says he keep his HLB cards inside the drawer and never use it before since activation. He just use his MBB classic all the time for the past few years.

I think he is blowing a big cow over this story telling. I suspect he don't have the HLB Plat la.

Further to the disbelief, he says that the MBB 3 cards is a package card. Mailed to him as a 3 cards package. Haiya, I don't believe la, think I baby meh.........

Lame la, tell 1st lie, then tell 2nd lie to cover the 1st lie, tell another lie to cover the 2nd lie and fourth lie to beautify the "Whole Picture". rclxms.gif

Anybody heard of MBB giving 3 cards as a package? 1 classic + 1 gold and 1 mastercard?

If he never use the Plat also keep in his pocket la, for virtual status sort of thing. Why keep in the drawer? Flush it down the toilet or return it to the bank better. Later kena annual fees some more.

Is Michael Jackson funeral today? Must grab the video and keep it for memory. Long live the king.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 7 2009, 09:55 AM)
@zazaza2009,
Perhaps he just doesn't want to take the risk of losing the Plat?  I don't see what's wrong.  However, it's weird he's got 3 separate cards from MBB because I know there's this rule whereby a cardholder cannot be issued with 2 Visas or 2 Mastercards from the same bank; unless one of which is a co-brand card biggrin.gif

For me, the discounts and points offer by credit cards are a 2nd priority.

My first and formost priority when choosing a card is the annual fee waiver and the banks ATM location availability so that I can settle outstanding amount without travelling too far. My house is very far from Citibank Penang and it is inconvenient to settle the outstanding.

I like HLB because they have many ATMs at my house and working place. I heard Citibank likes to send CC to your house without applying for it and later bill you for the annual fees.

The RHB Tesco card is a fake la, free, free, free they tell you. But inside the borang keahlian, small letters indicate RM80 annual fee for classic. What a ROB (Van Damme).

Citibank lame la, easy to get the CC, low annual income also can be approved. They will send to you extra cards, like you apply for VISA then it is accompanied with Mastercard, package like sort of thing. Lame...lame...lame. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif mad.gif

You don't know how my friend in reality yet. Tree need tree bark and man want face skin type. There are billions of personality on Earth, you and I are just 2 of them and yet we think differently.

Ever bump into someone who argue to stay alive and always want to pretend he is very high level in knowledge and manager type of face? He is that type la.

Er.. keeping Plats in the wallet doesn't help boost my ego; perhaps it's the same for your colleague too!  Perhaps U think differently but there's no right or wrong in such situations.

Genting is a scary place when you lose money. I bump into a spirit at First World hotel after losing about 2k in a night at a normal casino (rm25, rm50, rm100 table).

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 7 2009, 01:09 PM)
Once upon a time, having a SBB/DA access gold card & above would enable you access to the VIP area, now not sure. Why not give them a call? But I don't think a Genting World Card will do the trick  hmm.gif

CL normally 1/3 of your annual income as a rule of thumb ie. for RM150K per annum income, you are normally given RM50K CL subjected to overall CL in existence ie. if you have multiple cards, chances are the limit will be lower etc

May I know why 3 since most all the time use only 1 card?

I have a sub-card and both primary and sub are use by 2 person.

I don't get the logic of having more than 1 card for single person, can anyone explain?

Tq.

OMG, why got 14 cards? How to fit inside the wallet for a start? I remember a comedy film by Hong Kong Sam Hui, he got many credit cards to show off to his girl friend when paying for restaurant dinner. He has a card holder made of transparent plastic and is joined to form a long vertical wallet. rclxms.gif thumbup.gif rclxm9.gif

I seldom got card cannot go through problem. Sometime it is the merchant machine problem or OFF-LINE problem.

Make sure your card is not bent and not stored in magnetic area.

That sure is logic coming from someone who's got 14 and counting tongue.gif

The HLB CC points are not evergreen and can be expired. Recent promotion is also a BIG cheat whereby your points will be automatically deducted to exchange for cash back for purchases.

Suppose to be free cash back, and users need to SMS to participate some more.

Damm, I *%#@ the HLB on the phone and said that this promotion is a fake promotion because it forces a point deduction to exchange for cash. He say nothing he can do and I asked for the manager, he say not avaialble, guess he went to hang himself.

However point is not very important to me, but the way the promotion cheated me and others is not appropriate. The terms and condition of the contest promotion is at least 4 pages with the smallest fonts printed.
