Simplified equation

Total Annual Income (X)
----------------------------- = Exposure Ratio
Total Credit Limit (Y)

Exposure Ratio < 0.3 means Over-exposed (Bad)

Example

You earn RM150,000 a year and your total credit limit = RM100,000
150000/100000 = 1.5 (Well under exposed)

You earn RM36,000 a year and your total credit limit = RM150,000
36000/150000 = 0.24 (Over exposed)

Well, put it this way, if say existing card is RM1K CL, even with a 100% increase, its insignificant, thus as your exposure level increases then the restrictions starts setting in  biggrin.gif

you're right but my existing card CL is 20 times higher than that.

You need to include any other loan you may have as well.

Don't take it critically as its not meant to say your CL is low etc. But just for information sharing, in the banking circle, there are 3 Tiers just only for Plat cards in general ie. Tier 3 are those sub RM100K CL, Tier 2 at RM100 to RM200K CL and Tier 1 which is from RM200K to RM300K max. So in the scheme of things that are, you can be considered in the lowest risks category, which means a higher/flexible exposure range tongue.gif

Do also keep in mind that different banks have different appetite for risks, so while it may be a no go at one bank, does not mean that another will also be the same. Banks like CIMB are amongst the more adventurous while PBB is considered very conservative.

So taking your case as an example, if you are to say buy another property, you may have problem getting a loan at good terms or higher financing margins etc. Can try and see and brief us accordingly

Agreed. Public Bank is as conservative as HSBC, if not more.

No immediate plans for 2nd prop yet. But recently applied for separate margin financing to test and it is approved. Is that counted ? Then the number will drop from 0.32 to 0.23

Anyway, I did not sign it up. Just try only. laugh.gif

Margin financing as in shares, right? That's 100% secured so do not count normally smile.gif

hi all!

My justone card was approved last Wednesday and I still havent received it until now! Wondering if this is normal?

Called the CS several times and all of them are poorly trained (well compared to CIMB at least) they only know how to tell me keep waiting and don't even know/have tracking numbers...

Curious How long did everyone else took to receive their justone?

I got mine within one week (on 27/07/09) from the sent date of the approval SMS (22/07/09). 2 days later (yesterday), they sent the cheque book.

@ronnie,
AhHh that equation is so much easier to understand. Well, it doesn't look *so* bad on mine .. and with this calculation I'm still NOT over exposed... it's about 0.4 so I'm *almost* there but not there yet! tongue.gif

Actually its pretty simple. As a rule of thumb, take your total gross annual income, divided by 3 and if that amount is less than 10% of your total Credit Exposure ie. not O/S only, then chances are you are screwed  sad.gif

What is your score?

mine is 0.12 only. shocking.gif too much exposure now

if I cancel all my CC, it only raise to 0.16 shocking.gif this is just from my house & car loan

Maybe I try to apply for another CC to see what going to happen.
