Hi, I went to a few shops to ask for the price of Mitsubishi air cons but all said they are not selling Mitsubishi. Even the one I had previously visit, had mitsubishi but now not carrying the brand anymore.

I asked one of the shop, why they don't have mitsubishi, his face black and said something like "third party service".
Anyone knows why?

Today I went to one shop to ask about panasonic aircond. i asked the salesman issit panasonic brand good and he kinda shook his head saying that panasonic aircond now all made in China, no more in M'sia.

i asked which brand he would recommend and he said Carrier or Mitsubishi.

So, is it true panasonic not that good anymore? Should I go for Mitsubishi instead?

Panasonic room air conditioners are made in Malaysia, exporting to more than 80 countries. All parts are self sustained including their die and mold. PCB is outsourced from local company. So Panasonic is currently still Malaysia made.

I installed two units Panasonic inverter 1.5hp and 1.0hp.
1.5hp total17ft and first 5ft is free so the balance have to pay 12ft @ RM 26/ft = RM 312
1.0hp total 25ft and first 5ft is free so the balance have to pay 20ft @ RM 18/ft = RM 360
Casing to cover the black rubber, total RM 330.
Is it a normal expenses?

6" only need to extend hose??? compromise the overall aircond efficiency ah?? My compressor is farrrrr away. the hose are embedded a lonnggg length. .. blink.gif

Update here guys.

I just shifted my Air Cond 6" to the right. nod.gif

Let me tell you, its hard work (the installer and me too- I do the clean up). rclxub.gif
It took the guy 4.5 long hours .. sweat.gif
He went outside to the compressor and disconetted the wires while carefully shut off the gas pipes. (If not careful, you lose gas and then have to refill - +++ cost)
Then he disconetted the wires and pipes to unmounted the internal unit from the wall.
Un nailed the base bracket from the wall.
After studying the existing pipes and wires, he started hacking the wall around the pipes.
(The room was dusty like crazy)
extended the length of copper pipe (2 pcs) with extra longer copper pipes via on-site welding.
Covered the extended copper pipes length with new insulation.
Nailed the base bracket to the new shifted location
extended the PVC water pipes with new pipe extension.
Re mounted the internal unit to the new base bracket.
Connected the extended copper pipes.
Further covered again the copper pipes (ehre the pipe connecter are with new insulation.
Re connected the wires which needed another extension (not long enough)
Re conectted the extended water pipe.
(the big hacked hole in the wall is left bare - i gotta get another guy to cover it with cement-he do not do this)

- all the above is done by the installer balanced all the while on a ladder rclxub.gif

Went outside to reconnect the wires and gas pipes to the to the compressor .

After all done, the unit perform better than before shifting (no more smqll ticking noise) thumbup.gif

The guy (installer) look totally exhausted after the job is done.

Cost me RM 350.00

Isn't normal installation provide free 10ft?...and wow..your 1HP extend till 25ft?...recommended would be maximum 10ft you know...this will reduce the air cond's efficiency ...how much you bough the ac?..mind to share?

I bought in Sarawak so the shipping cost is much higher than w.malaysia there. Bought in SenQ, 1.5hp RM 1648 + 110 installation cost, 1.0hp 1388 + 50 installation cost. The installer told me, 25ft is still within a normal range so wont reduce the efficiency however more than 30ft the performance have impact.

I wonder y the salesman told me is made in China. So, should I go for Pana or Mistsubishi? I really can't decide. I think price wise they are quite similar.

If you compare both brand with same series, Panasonic will be cheaper...
Mitsubishi having hihger price tag and longer warranty for both indoor(2 yrs) and outdoor unit( 7 yrs).

My Panasonic just had it dismental 2nd time since install. The gas go empty after about 6 months, this is the 2nd 6th month happen again. Panasonic technician came over on Monday did visual inspection and soap test only, say no problem sad.gif ask me to call back the installer because the leak due to the low pressure coupling outdoor unit. Today had it service and redo the coupling. Ah well, can't tell if its the installation problem or A/C unit problem. Give it another 6 months and see. But by than my Panasonic will be out of warranty.

Still can't blame whos fault is it. If the gas leak again, I'll change this unit to other brand and do pressure check on the copper hose.

Tiny gas leak is really hard to check.

I believe yours is micro leak. Very very hard to detect. Why not do a pressure hold on both the piping and the units now? Hold it for a week or so.

I come to know that there is a device to scan and check refrigerant presence. If there is a leakage, there will be a reading on the device. A more 'tool' way to identify than the soap test. But I also know this tool is not common and not all installer has it. I have no idea which installer has it. You will need to ask around.

Nah, my next plan if it happen again, buy another 1.5hp and install, if that happen again, change the copper hose. Dam this will be costly because mine are concealed piping. I just hope worse case is only the a/c unit not the piping.

User for both brands, according to my experiences, personally felt Mitsubishi is much more better than Pana even it is slightly pricy at the same spec, n performance wise, Mitsubishi cooling is faster than Pana and also much more silent.
