QUOTE(sovietmah @ Nov 16 2012, 09:39 AM)
I just got a contractor.
quoting me
1.0 HP inverter cooper pipe (concealed) + outlet pipe (concealed) = RM600 each
1.5 HP inverter cooper pipe (concealed) + outlet pipe (concealed) = RM650 each
excluded the electric point.

RM600 for 1.0 HP reasonable?

I think it's bloody expensive. For 1.0HP, the price should be ranging from RM250 to RM300. Try to get more quotation.

It's depend how long is the piping. RM250 - RM300 is for normal piping right? So standard 10ft for inverter piping should be ard RM350-RM450. At least the quotation I have previously. In the end I choose normal piping as I dont see the need to use inverter aircon. Generally I use the aircon less than 8 hours a day.

Maybe i will cut down my double storey first floor inverter copper and outlet conceal pipe.
because ppl wont see it so clearly (without conceal) if I install them at behind.

A tips - Just calculate how many airconds required. Then, go and negotiate a lump sum good price in one of the electrical shops. The aircond installer also cannot match their price. Just do some survey.

Any sifu here can share whether this quotation I got is reasonable ?

To supply & relocate piping c/w install of aircon - RM500

To supply & install air con piping c/w install of aircon. - RM600

It is just a relocation of aircond from one wall to another wall and distance not that far oso, so RM1k++ reasonable ?? The current one is above the curtain so not really good location.

Ok guys, need input from you on my aircond calculation:

So I plan to buy:
1x 1HP Panasonic - in master bedroom (15 x 12 ftsq)
1x 2.5HP Panasonic - in living room (25 x 12 ftsq)

All are using inverter technology. Also, the height of my house is 11 ft.

So base on the following calculation:

0.76kW x 8hr x 30d = 182.4kW = 182.4 x RM0.40 (assuming it's the current rate) = RM73

inverter
Panasonic 2.5HP - living room

1.9kW x 8 x 30 = 456kW = RM182.40

Total = RM255.40
Assuming 35% saving from Panasonic's website = RM255.40 - RM90 = RM165.40
plus with my other utilities ( fridge, tvs, etc) = RM165.40 + ~RM45 = ~RM210.40

Is this calculation correct?

Thanks sifus! smile.gif

1HP might not sufficient for your room size, furthermore ceiling height is 11ft, one of my room slightly smaller than ur room size, I am using 1.5HP Pana inverter, feel it is just nice wink.gif

In theory yes. But in practical use, no. You are calculate in full hp running. But actual running is in vary speed.

True, but I will install a wardrobe that will occupy some 2ft from the width. So will make the room become smaller, although not very significant. tongue.gif

So this means the actual average monthly bill might be LOWER than what I've been calculating? Furthermore, I'm not really gonna use the aircond in whole 30days. Maybe certain day I will use <8hrs or maybe just using fan during cold weather. smile.gif

Let say if I try to make the living room more darker + cooler eg. putting some heavy windows tinting ( I won't get trouble from local authorities right? Like heavy tinting on our car windows, later kena summon by JPJ tongue.gif ) + installing really thick, dark colored curtains would help a lot in making the room cooler; less load for the aircond to run no?

Seal the gap door and windows. You can tinted the window as dark as you want. Insulate the ceiling. This all will lower down your bill.

You need to find out what is the hp aircon suitable to your room. Not by feeling. Get wrong hp will not save your bill.

Set the temperature higher and put it in auto mode will help save a lot.

Your bill will run below rm100 for both aircon if you get it right.

Hi sifu, i need some advice here. Anyone have their home with installed ducted type aircon? I need some feedback about ducted type aircon about their cost of installation and ease of maintenance with compare to ceiling cassette unit and wall unit. Pls provide me some guidance..kind of lost here. It is to share among my dining and living room. 2.5 or 3 hp should be enough. Total area is 22 by 18 feet.

Done mine
1. Conceal copper & water pipe = RM280 per unit of aircond
2. Installation fee = RM150 per unit of aircond
3. Remove old a/c from old house, clean then install at new house = RM250

Refill gas from zero = RM80
Above come with standard 10ft pipe. Extra = RM10 per feet.
Inverter / non-inverter also same price.
1.0hp / 1.5hp same price
