May I know what is the difference between normal piping (with black insulator) versus inaba piping (white insulator)? As can't find the info through Google search.

These are insulation jacket/sleeve to prevent condensation on the pipes causing mildew/mold to thrive which can be a health hazard.

The tradename is Inaba denko Paircoil which most professional aircond/HVAC call it Paircoil.

The best in trade are from the UK, Armacell [/edit which manfactures Armaflex. /edit] Use in various industries.

There's also a Korean Paircoil [/edit manufactured by Smartco /edit]

My mechanical engineer friend in SG educated me on the importance of individually insulating the pipes so that there's no mixing as well as the reasons of condensation and what it leads to above. Worldwide standard mandates individually insulated pipes wrapped over optionally with PVC to protect them if they are [/edit NOT /edit] designed against UV damage. Don't know if the Green Building Index have taken this into account.

Inaba piping insulator is white color while the standard insulator is the black one. The black one is more like a sponge so after a few years it will become flaky and can be peeled off easily. Since its concealed and for own stay I paid more to get inaba piping. Apparently the copper is also thicker and stronger. One contractor showed me both inaba and normal and ask me to touch and bend it to feel the difference. I heard cases of old building where water was leaking from the concealed air cond piping into the electrical wiring and causing short circuit. Had to hack the wall to troubleshoot

Need some advice on aircond too and appreciate all you sifus' feedback.

I plan to install 1.0hp unit each in 2 bedrooms and has decided on Panasonic brand. My questions are:

1. I'm staying in a service apt where the electricity rate is higher compared to landed properties or other condos. Do you think it is advisable for me to fix inverter airconds? The aircond usage will be minimal though (i.e. not daily basis).

2. My master bedroom's aircond is spoilt. If I want to get inverter aircond, is the old cabling compatible? I was quoted RM180 by one aircond shop to un-install the faulty unit...is this a reasonable fee?

3. My living room aircond is LG brand and since Day One, I've always felt that it takes forever to cool the room. It is 6 yrs old and I've only cleaned the filter net twice whistling.gif . Should I service it and how much would it generally cost? Just want an indication so that I don't get chopped by dishonest vendor.

4. Any recommended shops in Puchong area to get Panasonic airconds? How much is the installation fee in general to fix new aircond?

Thanks

Inverter is using different piping but daikin did had inverter model that compatible with the normal piping. To be safe, just check with the installer.

Yes, you have to service the aircon to clean the inner part with chemical also pump in new gas.

In Puchong, I found the shop next to Top Ten provide good bargain for Panasonic and Mitshubishi aircon. Do check it out. New installation for normal 1hp aircon shd be Rm130-rm150.

RM180 to uninstall is very expensive, I been quote RM150 to relocate the aircon unit uncluding compressor.

Anybody uses Samsung AS09TUPN model aircond? Is it quiet? I found out the spec is quite good it has a EER rating of 11.3 which is quite high.

How to dispose of faulty aircond unit? If pay the aircond installer, do they just un-install or will they un-install and take it away?

If yes any cost estimate??
