I plan to install air cond in my living hall.

Should I install the air cond in the same direction of the TV or coming from the front wall. What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Please share your experiences. Thank you a thousand.

installation perspective
Front wall as in facing outside where sliding door is best location since min hacking. One hole for the pipes to run out. Unless not enough space (very low ceiling clearance due to plaster ceiling, etc ) To replace pipes is only external work with minimal intrusion.
Tv wall - need to hack. long runs of pipes and drainage plus concealment unless using simple casement. Risk of leakage then how...need remove tv furniture (if tall) before rehacking to fix leak or replace piping. Any wall paper to remove or replace after?

Maintenance perspective
Is there any extra work for the air con guy to service above tv wall compared to front wall?
Like take down fragile things or cover tv and furniture below from potential dust fall out when opening air con.

My personal preference/experience, come from front wall is preferred.

Ease of installation, cleaning, repairing work.
Never put air-cond on top of TV, or big TV cabinet, not only troublesome of cleaning and repairing, also risk of water dripping (if) into electrical point/component.

Definitely agree for this, the dripping issue might not happen at the very beginning but after long run, then it will be troublesome if aircon is above ur TV.

Any minimum space/height needed between the air cond to the ceiling?
After plaster ceiling, I only left 14" for the air cond and curtain rail/track.
Any idea which air cond has the shortest height?
So far I only found Daikin one is shorter as compare to Mitsubishi Electric and Heavy Industries.

If u put ur ac very very near to ur ceiling, the air circulation will not be good...as the air intake is located up there..... nowadays ac no more air intake from front panel...but i notice many people didn't know this and their ac often cools down slower...some even hide half of their ac into the plaster ceiling...

Thanks for the info. Really regret didn't consider about this before making the plaster ceiling.
Really no more air cond take intake from front? Or any idea which is the shortest one?
After checking out most major brands, the shortest I found is Daikin and Midea, 29cm height for a 2.0HP air cond.

Yes, 3 wires from indoor to outdoor unit, non inverter type.
The problem now is my aircon is Mitsubishi Mr Slim, contractor said not able to install due to the wires not enough.
He said at least need 5 wires to install my aircond. I was like vmad.gif ...
Is this true??

You need earth, live, and neutral for normal AC, inverter need another one for signal. Some uses 2 signal. So minimal you need 4.

Another method is get a 4 wires inverter, use one of your copper cables as earth. This is practice if you Install 4 wires, but invert need 5 wires.

An update: After survey both Jintex, Onking and Legend for Daikin aircond. Legend still slightly cheaper. But, Jintex no more selling the non inverter type. Just some info for those Aircond shoppers.
