myhat, i think we can't judge for u as we hv no idea which style of playing and grip size as well and weight consideration....

if u live in KL, try pertama complex and survey by u self... RM150 range won't get japan made yonex like muscle power series n armortec series
perhaps for carbonex series under joint venture with pbsi (indonesian badminton association)

proace, it's made in taiwan....i'd say it's fragile and many yonex players i knew went back in using yonex after trying out proace....

in conclusion, the feeling of decision still with u as u can c diff ppl diff opinions....so feel by u self

RM150 ain't bad budget anyhow ....good luck smile.gif

IMO, i have been using Yonex since i actively started playing badminton. Have experienced using a lot of brand, but only have experienced one racket for one diff. brand, (eg. Fleet, ProAce, Yangyang, Carlton, ProKeenex etc.).

why i dont pursue more than one racket for each of those brand is because i cant feel comfortable handling 'em, Yonex is much more suits my play style'.

and off the record, Yonex is lasting longer too, esp. the carbonex series IMO. MOST carbonex suits your budget, but still, give som Yonex a hands-on try, then u will know if u like it or otherwise.

still, if u wanna experiment, ProAce might suits u too..!

Always always go for Yonex dude...

There is this "T" carbon in the rakcet at its middle point that makes it easy to control and balanced, not found in any racket. And go for those above RM100, guess Rm120 or so can get a real good racket. Always go for carbonex, coz they are light weight and easy to handle. Never got to shops and buy, they may over charge u for one. Go to some hypermarket or something like Parkson or Giant to buy. You can wait for an offer period to buy.

Yonex so far I use is god. ProAce, hmm no offence, but my sis bought it for about RM100 one, but I don't seem to like it, only match a RM40 Yonex racket.Yonex is still the most reliable in the market. And ya, try buying at your hometown, might get cheaper price.....

if you were to go for Yonex, don't think you can get a decent one at RM120 rolleyes.gif
prepare to spend about RM160 to RM180 for a decent one(or should i say good and light enough)
RM100 ProAce? of course not good lar doh.gif doh.gif
you need to spend at least RM150 - RM160 for a decent one
anyways, the "T" joint at the racquet already outdated doh.gif doh.gif(anyways most brands uses it doh.gif doh.gif)
so darn heavy and yet you say controllable? shakehead.gif
unless you are talking about another design which has internal T joint and is also very common doh.gif doh.gif
anyways, the latest trend is towards the isometric design(yah, Yonex was the first if i'm not mistaken)

beware...yonex has really good imitation racquet a.k.a pirated racquet in the market
reseller also can't differentiate as the serial numbers and colors r almost identical...

everyone definitely has his/her very own opinions o experience on racquet but davidtcf's comments r totally absurb especially talking about t-joint, yonex is good (there is a wide range of products, not all r good) and proace not good? i've been using proace for more than a decade.....so for a bunch of friends

all i need to say is we cannot justify by the brand and price but specific product/model no. will do. For ex. last time yonex's MP55 was selling @ RM600 and now stock clerance @ RM200, everybody shd feel something wrong in doing offer.

it seems like many ppl replying here is a yonex fan eh? No offence man. I use yonex myself but i've been playing with other racquet brands as well .. and yes, they are just as good. Good or not depends you. No one can help you decide as you will have to feel the racquet yourself. ProAce us a good racquet and I have no problem with it so far .. Try other brands .. like RSL, or maybe APACS? They are quite good in terms of cash and performance .. that's all i hafta say ..

adios

skills play a vital role.......if u are highly skilled, any racquet will go ur way.....it is the matter on how you have ur wrist work done and how well u control the racquet.

i had been palying badminton for about 15 years, been using brands like yonex, carlton, pro-ace and prince.

i think the best is yenox, the carbonex series. i m not sure about the muscle power series but i think the carbonex series is good enough. i m now using the carbonex 21 special, which now cost about RM150 i think.

thats true
ultimately, skills are the most important factor in any sport
but if you use a piece of equipment not suited to you, you might not be playing at your best
"good carpenters don't blame their tools" is one of the crappiest sayings i've heard

off topic - try playing snooker with a really crooked cue
it irritates the hell out of you

back to topic - i can't hit the shuttle properly if i use any carbonex or isometric series
it doesn't feel right in my hand
maybe its just me...

well said there
i have tough time using my bro's racquet(ProAce WideBody series), can't really get a good smash and it seems that all my strokes requires more energy
while i'm using Sweetspot series(the isometric look alike), i find that i can hit the ball without requiring that much of energy
maybe i'm used to the racquet, that's why......

[Offtopic]
I wonder those titanium rackets are any good? Will they break as easily as carbon graphite ones? Coz i've "smashed" 2 rackets already - Carbonex 8 (Blue) and Carbonex 8000.... Really sakit hati, man!

I've been looking around for quite sometime now. Looking for best price and quality. Can't seem to make up my mind on any models so far.
[Offtopic]

As for the preference between brands. IMHO, brands doesn't matter as long as the racquet feels comfortable for you while you're playing. Just look back at the olden days, they're using wooden racquets for crying out loud!! And still they play some of the best badminton ever.....

So I think there's no answer to which brand is better but as for value for money, racquets that feels light enough to control properly are aplenty out there....

Ah Proace is fragile? My Proace of a month old hit my partner's during a smash conflict, and the whole "head" went bengkok, like wood tongue.gif

Now using Prince (yeah try some gwailo stuff), beautiful design, free bag, nice to use smile.gif

BTW, a quick question, the guy at the shop I went for stringing says the original stringing that came with new rackets is very good already and we don't need to change strings. Is that right?

the RM32 gosen string is 0.66
now used by our national badminton team
its very durable, good for smashes..
i wanted BG-66, but he said its not so good..
and anyway, since string included, might as well get the "expensive" string lar.. hehehhehe *kiasuism*

i am using the BG-66 on my Isometric 500...
so i guess i'll get to test the gosen string... smile.gif

hellu there.. i suggest u use the Yang Yang is ok. because ur budget.. but if u've more budget! get Yonex.. first, u got to define the type of badminton playing technique u r. so furhermore, if under rm 150, i suggest u get other then yonex or pro ace, maybe yang yang, leopax, x calibur, maybe gosen is ok. if u r controller player and not to many offensive, get yang yang is ok. if u r offensive player, do make pro ace is also ok or yonex. is u r normal player, just gosen make goodies. but if u know one things, since i use yonex armotec 700 and yonex muscle power last few days, its also good. but let me give u some good advise, yonex can badly broken when crack with something. trust me!

Controller - yang yang

controller + offense - gosen

controller + defense - fleet/

offense - pro ace, yonex, impact

regular - x calibur, leopec, apacs.

this is just 4 my last experience since at batu pahat johor shop always ask me to test many racquet.
but this just average 4 most of the type, not all, if 4 sure.. give more specified. what type of player u r. flex.gif

hellu there.. i suggest u use the Yang Yang is ok. because ur budget.. but if u've more budget! get Yonex.. first, u got to define the type of badminton playing technique u r. so furhermore, if under rm 150, i suggest u get other then yonex or pro ace, maybe yang yang, leopax, x calibur, maybe gosen is ok. if u r controller player and not to many offensive, get yang yang is ok. if u r offensive player, do make pro ace is also ok or yonex. is u r normal player, just gosen make goodies. but if u know one things, since i use yonex armotec 700 and yonex muscle power last few days, its also good. but let me give u some good advise, yonex can badly broken when crack with something. trust me!

Controller - yang yang

controller + offense - gosen

controller + defense - fleet/

offense - pro ace, yonex, impact

regular - x calibur, leopec, apacs.

this is just 4 my last experience since at batu pahat johor shop always ask me to test many racquet.
but this just average 4 most of the type, not all, if 4 sure.. give more specified. what type of player u r. flex.gif

my opinion is that it's mostly depends on the player skill. Racquets are designed mainly to suit different play style. So get one that you like.

Heard sumone bought a Cab 21SP for over RM200, man that's expensive, my double partner just got the same racquet with grip, string and bag for about RM160 only.

When you reach Pertama Complex main entrance go straight in until you reach an end...
then turn right and walk to the end...
turn left, and walk until you see some stairs... Go down..
go on straight and you will see some video arcades on your left, and there is a corridor on your left.. go on in and racquet world would be almost the end of the corridor.. on your left...

I bought my badminton gear from a shop along Jln Bangsar.

I believe the shop is called Chiang Siah store. They currently have a special deals for badminton racquets. Somthing like buy 1 racquet free another with a badminton bag.

Strings are already included in the package.

I never liked racquets apart from Yonex, ProAce, Fleet and Carlton.

I think the Prince models have very funny shapes that doesn't guarantee real stability and power. But that's just my opinion.

Budget should be around RM 100-200. I'd rather have good shoes than have ankle/sole problems later on.

I am using wilson hypercarbon rackets. They have better control and able to withstand high tension up to 25-26 pounds. (Suitable of placing type of game)

Prince rackets are good for smashing type of play as the frame is solid and able to withstand tension up to 30-32 pounds. So far i have tried prince racket with tension about 25 pounds and i can feel my smashing power increase.

one thing i dont like about yonex rackets is that they cannot stand high tension. I have ask around before and yonex rackets tends to break it the tension is more then 24 pounds.

Heavier racquets cater for those who loves smashing. Lighter racquets are for those who play placing and fast with the wrist.

I think if your racquet breaks because of the racquet defect, then you can exchange it. If you broke it by banging on the wall, then you i don't think can get an exchange.

hei guys i am new to this forum..and pretty interesting topic u got here

anyway.....it is not true that lighter racquet are for placing game.......
depending on the design of the racquet......a light racquet can be powerful..depending on what string u use too.. a thinner string tends to provide better power.......i am personally using yonex BG 66.....not bad la

i am using a wilson racquet....(no more in production) i got a free sample from their factory..and i gotto tell u.......i fell in love with it....

There is difference one la.... between a good branded and those 'wanna-bes'. The form and shape maybe can copy but without proper research and experience, quality is definately compromised.

Finnex Shadow user here. Decent raquet with decent price.

I still think Yonex is a bit overpriced...it should be more competitive not because of its fame and branding.

Dont get pissed because you cant find hole.

If the racquet you bought is suitable for your game, RM300 also worth it. But if you come across a genuine one for RM79.90 but the racquet sucks ... what's the point of it being genuine?

Corona virus ... the "hole" you are talking about ... some other racquets I have seen have a dot at the place you mentioned. I did some asking around. The dot / hole is positioned directly pointed from the shaft of your racquet. It assists during racquet stringing. It functions nothing more than that.

So.. no worries. smile.gif

if newbie in badminton, then better not play with high tension..
cos it will hurt your wrist and your back in the long run..

Guys,

i owned quite a number of racquets. some of them i sold off and some i kept:

1) yonex carbonex 21special
2) yonex carbonex 8sp Ti Limited
3) Yonex MP 55
4) Yonex MP 77
5) Yonex MP 100
6) Yonex MP 99
7) Yonex Armortec 700
8) Wilson HyperCarbon 6.5 (broke it yesterday but didnt bang anything, accept shuttlecock and never drop before)
9) Wilson HyperCarbon 9.0 (extra stiff)
10) Yonex Armortec 800 Offensive

Well, my Yonex Muscle Power Series, Wilson Hyper Carbon Series and also Armortec Series all used the Yonex BG68 TI strings. I loved the Hyper Carbon 6.5 which offer lightweight and nice for defence.

Somehow i dont like any other strings beside the BG68 TI on 22LBs tension. i have tried many others. Carbonex 21 special and Carbonex 8 Ti were good racquets. But just considered that my hand was "spolit" by the Armortec 800 OF which is very good in smashing and I felt a big difference when i switched racquets. (BUT THE PRICE IS ALSO A BIG SMASH TO THE WALLET). Armortec 700 is heavier than the 800.

Now, i am awaiting the arrival of the Yonex Nano speed 7000 which is supposedly lighter than the Armortec 800. Wilson has also introduced their nano hypercarbon racquet which is the N series

I do agreed that skill matters the most. but well, enjoying using a good racquet is a different issue. However, i believed that with a good racquet, a skillful player can perform even better on the court. (i am not saying i am skillful, actually i played badminton seriously only about 3 years ago, so i still consider myself a NOOB)

But just to share here, i personally liked the MP99 over the other MP racquets. But wat i dont like about the Muscle Power Series was the paint job. The glossy paint easily cracked and peeled off once u hit or scratch it. a slightly bang into someone's racquet and thats it.

Armortec paint & coating were similiar to the carbonex series and therefore, more durable.

Wilson hypercarbon racquets were quite good with their paint job too.

I dont bother trying to buy other Armortec or Mucle Power wannabes. They just dont feel right somehow (maybe it is already in my mind).

I am definitely sticking only to Yonex and now at Wilson. Trying to ask the local dealer to get my the Wilson N1 racquet

i also believed that when u go and buy a racquet, u need to set a budget first for it and then u choose a racquet WITHIN that budget. Look out for offers too

(I AM JUST PUTTING FORWARD MY OPINIONS AND MY EXPERIENCE IN BUYING AND USING RACQUETS. SO SOME OF YOU MIGHT NOT AGREE WITH ME ON CERTAIN VIEWS. NO FLAMING PLS)

i agreed with BIG88W

however, if you have a friend who has a TI-10, try to get to lend u for a game and compare it to other racquets. you might ended up liking other yonex racquets. i myself prefer the AT800OF over the MP99. MP99 is slightly heavier but AT800OF is head heavy.

and after all, TI-10 is a 2-3 years old model but still remain in the production line.

i restring the racquets in about 2-3 months average

and re-grip in about the same duration

proace is nice cuz it's lighter.. but not so durable..easily break into 2 parts..hehe.

in my opinion, for a badminton racket, light is not everything. i agree if u say proace is light, but most of proace racket cannot give a good bounce action. a good racket should bounce the shuttle, so that it can be an advantage for u in a sense of add some speed of the shuttle. i cannot find this features in proace.. if u see yonex or carlton, some of the model is more weight but more expensive than proace which are more lighter. this is because of the material that can be a good bouncer to the shuttle... its just my opinion. no offense biggrin.gif

bouncing issue.....?

isn't it related to the string tension instead of the racket material compound?

i heard b4 that low tension...more bounce....higher tension less bounce....am i wrong?

it is not only the string tension playing an important role, type of string and material of the string are also important. However, another major contribution to how fast the shuttle can travel is the built, design and material of the racquet itself.

my armortec 800 is not as light as some other cheaper racquets but it definitely giving you a different feel either you smash , stroke or doing a drop shop.

as i said in my previous post, a light racquet is not necessary a good racquet to hold. preferences and type of game play also help you to decide on type of racquet to buy.

armortec 700 is significantly heavier than 800 OF but i prefer 800 OF and so on and so forth

i did ask for armotec 800...and they said that...that racquet is not just good but "sedap pakai"....but the price also "sedap" (means expensive)....

then i asked them...can i get "sedap" racquet but price is affordable....?
they said that i should try Volkl...they showed me the racquet...and i can't remember what is the series of it....but its in dark color...dunno whether black or brown..with yellow stripes...and they said that it will cost me about RM179 at their shop....pretty light racquet...

myhat, i never heard of volkl brand. however, wat the shopkeeper quoted to u about amortec 800 is quite true, it is not only good but "sedap pakai". after you use amortec 800, u will definitely ignoring the rest of the racquets, disregarding the brand.

i am even ignoring my armotec 700. the other brands which copied the armortec designs dont even come close to the feel...

Wow, you guys seem to buy racquets more than you can play with.

Buying racquets seem more interesting to you guys than the game itself.
2-3 racquets should be enough IMO. Don't need to buy another one unless your current racquets breaks or is useless.

But of course, if you have money, by all means....I feel jealous...smile.gif

yonex armortec 800 OF & DF are sold at retail price of RM999.00 each. however, should be cheaper after discount.

never heard of volkl racquets before, any website to refer to?

i heard yonex nano speed 7000 has arrived in singapore. i am waiting for its arrival here so tat i can grab one soon.

some of the yonex shoes are not tat reliable. somehow doesnt last. the sole it self is ok but not the side sole.

my existing yonex which cost me RM300++ lasted me for more than a year. perhaps i am lucky

cab 21 special is definitely below RM200. but might get over RM200 if you include a good grip and very good string. i heard the price for the racquet has increased

I think i'm just like ma43q, currently i stick to just a few brands of racquets like Yonex mostly.

Other funny brands just doesn't sound like a badminton racquet at all.

Well guys i not really good at badminton,i still believe skills is much important than those expensive racquet u r talking about!!! sweat.gif
Jus tell urself, why u need so many rac for, some more u r not going for tournament rite so jus use back the same & save $$$.

hey Pooh, we are discussing about racquets, and we are not showing off our racquets. if u think the skills is more important, then so be it. i personally agreed that skill is important (read my previous posts) but i like buying racquet and i ENJOY the feel or the expensive racquets. why on earth do i want to save my money while i liked the racquets? what you said is indeed dumb. THINK BEFORE YOU POST HERE!!

i am playing badminton for fun, i enjoy the game , playing with bunch of veterans as i am the youngest there. Owning 1 dozen racquets doesnt mean we have to go into tournaments. if u think that buying good racquets are only justified by entering tournaments, then i think u r really naive.

it is like buying cars, why on earth people are buying BMW , volvo and even ferraris with 3L, 4L or 5L engines and get stuck in the traffic jams in kl ? it is not because they want to buy the cars for illegal racing/ or entering SEPANG CIRCUIT but they enjoy driving good cars and final thing, they can AFFORD buying those expensive cars.

so, i can afford to buy all those expensive racquets and who are you to question other people's interest?

we are discussing something here and i am just providing some personal opinions, and pls read the title of this post. do u understand the posts or not?

hey myhat,

i myself not really sure about the differences, but definitely there are. i read about the differences in some websites.

the price quoted is quite reasonable but perhaps it is not inclusive of string and grip but still quite a good buy.

i dont like the color of the defensive model, prefer the offensive one.

as informed....the price including string, grip and also its bag....i've heard also that they will be given away a pair of socks for free.....

one thing comes in my mind....
seems like even in one model...got different specs so called gred manufactured....
say like AT800....i've seen some guy in other forum bought the same racquet...but some of them with the spec of 3U and some are 4U and so on....
it really make me confused....
to me...that really hard to know and choose...becoz people generally speak the model...but actually there is issue of weight also should be think of....

any comments on this?

sorry, overlooked the items u quoted and myhat, i think i cannot go and look at the various new brands in the market as i am not staying in KL or anywhere near it. I am from kuching. smile.gif

since that the package inclusive of string and grips, and a pair of socks.----> very reasonable price. but perhaps i suggest that u upgrade to good overgrip (u definitely dont want the racquet to slip from your hand) and BG68Ti and string it to 22Lbs tension for a start.

if i am not wrong, it comes with 2 grades, 2U 3G, and 3U 4G. i could be wrong. i will post the proper grades once i go to look at the master catalogue from the supplier. The higher the number, the smaller the grip is and the lighter the racquet is. my armortec is the lightest of the grade.

different grades also affect the max amount of tension the racquet frame can withstand. so you have to ask yourself whether you like bigger grip, and slightly heavier racquet or you prefer lighter racquet. just bear in mind tat, amortec 800 Of is head heavy. i will try to get the differences between Of and DF model also once i get my hand on the catalogue.

Pertama Complex is next to Sogo...between Sogo and Akademi Mara building.....
u can ask people inside that building to locate the RW shop....

but worth trying....

can try to call them 1st to ask the availability of the racquet...

hmmm...glad can share the phone number with u guys.... 03-26929111

hey....i heard about Chiang Siah shop in Bangsar..dunno where it is...heard of their good promotion....hmm...might wanna play a visit there....

i dont really like buying unknown/ or brands that i am very skeptical on. Sotx also from Germany and its top model is about RM1000++ but i recently heard that it is made in China (unconfirmed source).

i am sticking to Yonex. Too many unknown, or taiwanese brands in the market offering almost similiar models with different names and colors. i am not trying to say they are not good, but i handled quite a number of these brands and so far, nothing come close to the "feel" of the armortec 800. i will inform you guys on any updates once i get my hands on nano-speed 7000

Myhat, i have yet to go to my dealer. perhaps tomorrow because i need to re-string my armortec 800.

As far as i know, Ti-10 is still in production or the master Dealer in Singapore still has the stock. I was told that this model is still available and my dealer still carry them (just saw one few weeks ago in the shop). perhaps due to the fact that it is an older model, some shops are not carrying it anymore. However, it is still quite pricey.

Yonex might already stopped production of their MP-77 because it didnt appear anymore in the latest catalogue featuring the amortec series. So if anyone of you come upon the racquet and like it, pls buy because the price is cheap and it is a good racquet too. Same thiing as MP-55, which is now replaced by another MP racquet (forgot the number)

myhat. i just went and look at the yonex catalogue and pro-ace catalogue.

ok. armortec 800 OF and DF come in:

4U (80-84g) G4
3U (85-89g) G3, G4, G5

G= grip size. the higher the number, the smaller is the grip

one difference i picked up from the catalogue:
armortec 800 OF has extra stiff shaft
armortec 800 DF has stiff shaft only

I just saw the Pro-Ace version of NanoPower 7000. the structure and the layout of the rubber beads are different from the yonex nanospeed 7000. this is also the same scenario as the amor series copied by others too.

i dont know whether you guys agreed with me or not but put it forward for discussion.

perhaps it might not be necessary to string up to 26Lbs. certain strings might not be able to handle such high tension, unless it specify the amount of tension it can handle. higher tension doesnt mean more powerful stroke, smash and etc. instead, might caused injury to the wrist and etc.

some racquet frames might not be able to withstand such high tension, disregard the fact the shopkeeper assured you so and sometimes, the supported tension as quoted by the manufacturers also need to be adhere to.

using small diameter strings with high tension might not be a wise thing to do as the durability of the string might be affected.

pulling the string to very high tension might "injured" your racquet. Look at the rubber beads on the frame and the edge where the string pass thru'. u might be suprise to see that the string actually "eats" into the rubber beads and "cutting" the edge and "sitting" into the racquet frame itself.

always look into the recommended tension for individual racquet. high tension supported by any racquet doesnt mean the user have to string to the max supported tension. Yonex recommended only 22 Lbs for Armortec 700 & 800 series using Ti 65 or Ti68 strings respectively while both racquets supported max tension of 24 or 25 LBs.

MP 99 has a yonex retail price of RM849.00. It is no doubt a good racquet but the paint job really turned me off.

hello there....

find some time to go to Pertama Complex....
look for Racquet World(RW) and Etakoh....
there you can find racquet with cheaper prices...
or maybe at Chiang Siah store also at Jalan Bangsar....

about MP99....
so far...as I asked to shops in Pertama...got no stock for a while...
I did call Sunrise Sports and they said that new stock will arrive and will be distributed to those shops in Pertama as ordered by them....

retails price is RM849...
but RW said they offer less than that...maybe RM580-590....
at Etakoh I'm not sure...you can give a try....

depends on your style of playing...

if you want the one which is most durable and all rounder play, I most recommend you to try Carbonex 21 SP...

location of those shops?
simply enter the building and ask from people around there....not hard to find actually...

hint : RW nearby stairs, end of the row....Etakoh...nearby escalator, floor above Selangor Photo or something like that...

good luck...

Ti-10 should cost Rm500++ (retailed) but definitely can get it cheaper.

MP99, RM849.00 (retail) and again can get it cheaper

but i prefer MP99 over Ti-10, considering ti-10 is a 2 ++ years model. but mp99 has paint job that can chipped off easily. but i prefer the feel of the mp99.

cheaper racquet, go for carbonex -21 special, durable , light enuf and good feel too

azman, if you willing to spend an additional 100-200 ringgit more, why dont you get armortec 800 OF instead? you will notice the difference immediately and mp99 paint job is just too fragile. armortec 800 OF has a better feel, lighter & head heavy and its still one of the latest model until and unless nanospeed 7000 is in the market

my dealer told me that he is waiting for a shipment of racquets from singapore, so hopefully nanospeed 7000 is inside.. smile.gif

azman, i am not a badminton seller, i am an end user like you too. buying a lot of racquets and i already quoted the racquets that i have in the previous post.

However, i had used MP99 before and i am now using Armortec 800Of (for few months) and i feel that MP99 is heavier and i am more comfortable with armortec 800 and the armor 800 gave a better handling. MP99 felt more like Armortec 700 (which i hardly used anymore)

since that u want to buy an expensive racquet, i am just looking at the pro-and cons, thats why i suggested buying an armortec 800 instead of MP99 which is already more than 1 year old model (if i am not mistaken). Afterall, it is an additional 100-200 ringgit. Looked at what Myhat has mentioned, for about RM700, u can get an armortec 800 with bag, string & grip + free socks. i think it is worth it.

Armortec 800 Of & DF are designed specially for double-play.

I was using a Yonex racquet. All I can say is dat, quality is assured. Then I discovered the Prince racquet, though a bit 2 late s dis racquet is no longer in d market. Maybe lucky if can find a shop with old stock. I find d Prince widebody racquet 2 b better than Yonex, both in terms of control n power. However, what might b ideal 4 me might not b 4 others.

Hope u can find a racquet best suited 4 u.

i saw cab30ms before in the shop and thinking of buying that. but the price is more or less at Ti-10 level or even Armortec 300. for the muscle power frame and long shaft(if i am not mistaken) is not really worth it for me. might as well go for something like Ti-10 or even cheaper, MP-66. but thats my preference

i dont know about the wilson v4 but i am also waiting for the price of N1 (ncode series). i used the wilson hypercarbon 6.5 (one of my favorites) and 9.0. i really loved the 6.5 but i broke it. now i am awaiting the arrival of the n1.

erm... maximum is 30lbs..
according to racquetworld staff..
strung at 26lbs before.. smile.gif
most good racquets nowadays can take btw 24-30..
the Prince NXGraphite series can take up to 32, if i'm not mistaken.. smile.gif

myhat: you strung your Volkl at how many lbs?
my 25 lbs feel like its 23 only.. string still can be pressed.. sad.gif

my suggestion is...if you wanna string your racquet....
and wanna real string tension....go to Etakoh....
coz i dunno for what reason....RW...with their booby girl there..not properly stringing those racquets....

mine....i strung at 24 only at Etakoh....but its really a 24lbs tension...not like in RW.....24lbs can be like 22lbs only....

maybe becoz of the machine or technique used....

yeah... i agree with you... that "booby" girl doesn't concentrate when stringing.. keep flirting with other malay guys..
I usually ask the boss to do it for me..
hmmm... will try Etakoh for my next stringing.. but my fren said Etakoh staff very arrogant..

one advice, go to a shop where the taukeh is also a badminton player and string his own racquet or his customer racquets. i dont trust my racquet with a sales girl or anyone else. sometimes, you have suspicion on the actual tension of the string even when u tell them to string at 25Lbs but it doesnt feel like one. This is because sometimes, the fellow who string the racquet does it half way and leave it for something else or pergi minum with friends.. chit chat... etc. better to finish it one go.

and sometimes, it is the machine itself, the spring coil that control the tension of the machine is not in good condition or it is not calibrated/tuned properly

preferably use a good string if you want higher tension.

it depends actually....
if you go to Etakoh upstairs...which is the small shop....the boss is there....and his son(i guess) will do the stringing job for you...yes...that guy is arrogant....

but if you go Etakoh downstairs....the shop at the same row with RW....the guy there quite friendly...and even you can ask them for opinions regarding racquets to used and so on....

nola. actually it is the way they string the racquet and where they start to insert the string and how they loop it in and out of the frame.

found out from my fren with the this style of stringing..
he says when he hit the shuttle, it gives a louder sound..
but power remain the same..

can be used to scare the opponents kua.. tongue.gif
hehehehe...

the Volkl V9 was not bad..
felt some slight vibration on strokes, but the flexibility of the shaft allowed some whipping technique.. if only my tension was higher.. sad.gif
smashing wise, not as powerful as Gosen 6700...

tension actually depends on you..
whether you're able to play with high tension or not..
cos high tension would lead to arm and back injury in the long run..
if you're able to play with a high tension, then only you choose which racquet you're able to play with that can support the tension of your choice..

most good racquets nowadays can support tension up to 30 lbs...
popular strings are those of 0.66mm example Yonex BG-66..
again this is subjective to your playing style...

what racquet and tension are you using currently?
give us more detail then only we're able to provide a more accurate recommendation..
there are lots of experienced pros here.. but i'm not one of them.. i also just started using high tension racquets.. tongue.gif

to me..racket tension for better players should b around 25lb++..for regular players,22lb should be sufficient for regular player the string yonex bg65 is good enough as for better players..bg 66 is good.if u string too hard..the shuttle cant fly too soft not enough power to kill.as for my experience,i dont think it is the racket frame but the material used to determine the max tension.correct me if i'm wrong

try BG68 TI at 22Lbs. i am using that for quite some time now. too high tension is also not good for your racquet frame and also your wrist & arm.

i heard that official BAM tension is about 22-23 only

dude, with respect....like i said 22lb is for regular player...try puttin 22lb for a competitive level n u will end up the 1st round casualty cos ur shots just lack the power for a kill.for your info, some national player even had 30lb or more..one of the coach in bam whom i know is puttin 28lb for all his racket..of course..it takes a toll on your racket when its tight..so be smart about it..be honest to yourself and if u think you r not good at it..22lb is good enough..25lb++ is for the competitive ones..the concept is the same as overclockers...u want a regular one, stay with the original setting..you want the fullest from your racket..take risk..of cos..calculated one..my experience..26-27lb is still ok for any racket so far..whether its rm100+ or rm200+.ask the guy doing the stringing and he'll tell you the same thing i told you..peace out thumbup.gif ..majulah sukan untuk negara thumbup.gif

majulah sukan untuk negara sounded so lame

hmm.. i dont mind going beyond 25++lbs as u suggested but i rather stay within the limit of my racquet. well, the national players can afford to risk their racquets because they are sponsored. in addition, they are professional. they need to utilize every single advantage they can find on to win any game.

honestly, i am playing badminton out of a hobby and past time, and it is just a game to me. as long as i feel comfortable with it, i am fine. good or not good at higher tension is another matter altogether but accidentally cracking an expensive racquet after paying it with my own hard earn cash is something else i cannot bear with.

breaking a RM100-200 ringgit is nothing much to me. but risking breaking an armortec 800OF and breaking armortec 700 due to over tension is something that is my concern and for me , not a smart thing to do. honestly i am just playing safe.

overclocking a racquet? this is the first time i heard unless i mistook your meaning. well, if u took the term overclocking as in overclocking a pc, then it is far more complicated then just adjusting the orginal setting of the mobo. there are a lot more factors involved.

i dont know whether u have ever look at the rubber beads on the racquet frame and how the string "bite" into the beads and at a higher tension, u actually will see that the string actually bite thru' the beads and resting and biting into the frame itself. i have seen this on few RM100-200 ringgit racquets. by the way, do u mind sharing with us on what racquet you used so far? and what strings you used for such high tension?

the architecture of the racquet frame also play a very important role in determining the max tension for it. Of course the material also is another contributing factor. However, material use and the composition will also determine the weight distribution of the racquet / racquet frame. i noticed that there are certain racquets that has different sizes of grips and weight for the same model. this also (one way or another) influenced the max recommended tension. this is true for some racquets that i came across . if i am not mistaken, it happened to MP88 of the first generation, and second generation. well, i could be wrong.

dude..do you know the "rubber" beads are replaceable?of cos i've seen such things such as the string resting on the frame due to strong tension and also due to the person who restrings the racket for you did not either turn the beat 180degrees(meaning the opposite site of the beat)or change the new bead for you..but to me...usually i'll change the bead everytime i restring.i'm using yonex bg66 and i'm using yonex musclepower 88.regarding the tension of the string,i'm 90% positive that will not do any harm on watever racket u r using as i've experienced try many things with my racket..of cos in the process i break some racket...i was a state player but now too old d.. biggrin.gif i'm not trying to show that i'm good in this field but this is my opinion.every good rackets have a good distribution on the weight but you have to remember...it will b balanced without the string n grip.but when u put them on....its a different story..like me,i personally like my grip to b "fatter" therefore i wrap 2layers of grip thus making it fatter n more heavier..i believe you hv seen before that they skip stringing a "hole" at the bottom of the frame..(i personally dunno y..but i just follow) but there are also ppl who skip the top part of the frame and the bottom part...then making the swing much much lighter than usual.all i'm saying is,we dont only look at the books but it counts on the amount of experience we have on them.there was once i was given a chance to use a racket model that taufik hidayat used(and eventually break it intentionally after losing to lee tsuen seng) of cos, good racket has a better feel...but it still falls back to your skills...as for your hobby wise..i personally won't recomment u to use stronger tension cos if you don't use it often or get used to it..it is rather hard to hit the shuttle full court..so end up u leaving that particular racket aside or even cut off the string...i would like to apologise if i'm a bit rude or sarcastic in my words..i dont mean it..at times,we dont know what we r writting and only realise it afterwards...so..respect to all of the hardcore badminton crazy ppl... notworthy.gif peace out

i know the beads can be replaced and if i am not wrong, there are different grades of beads too. if tension is too high, even with the beads replaced before new string, it is still going to "bite" into the racquet frame.

and if you read my previous post, u will know i mentioned that skill is DEFINITELY IMPORTANT but however, pairing a good racquet with GOOD skill will enhance the play even more.

hey myhat,
did u get the yonex nanopower 7000 ?

Hehe, that shop is getting famous ehh?

If i'm not mistaken, the name of the shop is Chiang Siah Store.
The boss is called Tan.

I used to buy racquets at a great price. Lots of freebies too. If any of guys who does not have a group to play with or want to have a more competitive game, ask him and see if you can join his group.

I played with his group on Thursdays and Saturdays but not anymore due to work and timing. You'll definitely get to meet good players in his group. smile.gif

All the more you should change your thinking. Don't be shy and look the other way.

You should play with better players to improve. That's how i improved my strokes when i play with better players. His group of players give constructive ideas on how to improve your game.

You should join if you want to learn and pick up skills.

hey guys, i am playing with veteran players aged 40 to 50... its soo funny when i recalled the first time i played against these experienced players... i was practically "washing the court" for them.. i was "running" on the court.. but cannot reach the shuttle on time

so basically there is no shame to joining a group that plays better... it is the one way to learn and gain experience.

of course there is another way, get a coach!!

hey guys, latest info

i stumbled upon a review of yonex nanospeed 8000 & 7000. seems to me that 8000 is already in the market. judging from the both short reviews, i might just wait for 8000 and 7000 might be too light for me

i believe we need both the combination.coach+sparring partners...in training u just learn the proper way and skills...but with your sparring friends u learn the experience and the application of strokes u learned from ur coach..such as overhead down the line smash and etc..u mite get it right in training..but during game...its different.u need2try it out on ur own..and make it a habit..cos in training..your coach mite give u a nice shot so that u can execute it nicely..but in the game its different..there's different speed&movement involved..when i was 13..i used to play with all the older 40-50 year old ppl...its not wrong and it does not make u look dumb even though u cant beat them..or they caught u with their double motion strokes..it is with that that we learn from it and improve as a player..

ns7000 and ns8000.. which one is batter??
*
I thought earlier u have already decided to go for MP99?
what happen dude?
hmmmm...maybe u have been psychoed by the promotion of NS series I guess....

let me put it this way.....
don't go for too high end racquet which firstly u have basic or intermediate skills as it is not a good investment for you....secondly....u don't have any idea how it suits ur hand and ur game style....

my suggestion is that (as I implied to my ownself)...go for good racquet but not that expensive first....
as example....carbonex 21SP....or the rest or carbonex series....
they are really good if u know which of the model to pick taht really suits ur style...
don't go for armotec or nanospeed 1st....I'm afraid it won't worth u....

or...go for other brand 1st instead of Yonex...if u really insist of getting so called good racquet....like ProAce Platinum 530 (clone of MP99)...or maybe other brand also like Volkl (I owned V9 model)...they are good too.....

just my 2 cents based on my experience....
btw...its still up to u...ur money, right?
I'm just giving my opinion which I think best for others as its best for me.... thumbup.gif

azman, just wait for the both models to arrive and get the feel of them in the shop before you make any purchase. expensive racquets they are but not necessary "feel" right in your hand....

but remember that a clone will be forever a clone and i believed the material used in the clones compared to the orignal varies in composition and etc.

Hi all, I would like to get a new racquet + string. My budget is around rm150 - rm220.
I like to play offensive style in double, thus getting chance to smashes is my primary task.
Any recommendation of the racquet & string which would most suitable for my playing style? Could pls specify what the tension of the sring too which will best for me, 25++lbs?
I would prefer a Yonex. But any other brands might be consider as well.
Thanks in advance.

I'm currently using Fleet racquets. I think they're pretty good just as any other racquet. I've seen APACS new racquet too. Looks good and it's on promotion now.
RM179 for 2 racquets (Flat Head) together with grip and strings.

Can be located in E-Sports, SS14 (Subang Jaya).

I can't be too sure of the model of the racquet but ProAce would do you good. Get any of those Titanium Racquets with Flat Head. If you're the power player, get them to string the racquet at 25lbs. About the strings, you can try BG 66 or Ti-88.

I think someone else would be able to explain the strings to you more comprehensively.

skymade, perhaps you can try to string whatever racquet you are going to buy to 22lbs first, rather than 25 lbs as suggested by myth. First, you might need some time to get use to a new racquet, and test it out with lower tension first. second, you yourself might not be able to get use to the "hardness" of 25lbs.

i believed the "flat head" is called isometric frame

Power smash does not depend on string and racquet alone.

If you have a power setup but having weak wrist power will not bring the racquet's full potential. So train your wrist too!!!!

hmm.. high tension string but lack of strong wrist will not help much. instead, it might cause injury to the wrist and you will find that its weird when you try to stroke but you stroke is not as good as you think it will be.

for me, a few ringgit different is not a big deal, rather customer service is also important. considering the fuel and time going for window shopping, the few ringgit doesnt matter much.

in kuching, i got my armortec 700 & 800 for 800++ each including BG68TI and the 18.90 grip. now waiting and waiting for the arrival of nanospeed 7000 or 8000 or both...

That's the reason why it's called Nano Speed, cos it takes a much faster time to swing when the racquet is very light.

Light is good but I personally will not get such a racquet cos it hinders my smashing. To me, I want power in my smashes! tongue.gif

RM800++ ain't my type of price for a racquet. I would not personally splash that much for a racquet.

My budget would be more likely in the RM200-RM300 region.

hmm myth, we dont have to be professional players to enjoy good racquets. smile.gif surprisingly the nanospeed series are not as expensive as i thought. priced within the range of the armortec series. so i bet i can get it below RM900 in kuching.

Yo hoongji, looks like you're Prince racquet owner I too love them Prince badminton racquets. They're damn good. Currently I own Prince 700 Whip Lite (an old model now no longer available) and the current Prince Triple Threat 1700 that you mentioned. Had this newer racquet strung with Gosen string/guard. It was recommended by the shop though I requested for Yonex BG66. This Gosen string/guard is equally good as Yonex BG66. Tension was 23lb. I can say it is very responsive and good for smashing. I think this racquet might still be available at The Pacific , one of them shoprows parallel to The Atria in Damansara Jaya, PJ.

afham07, perhaps the nanospeed 6000 is not from yonex. look carefully.

yonex doesnt produce nanospeed 6000, instead only nanospeed 7000, 8000 and rumoured 9000,

nanospeed 7000 starts at about RM600.00

never like yonex as too expensive. Just trade off apacs nano power 7000 for RM 110 and added more RM 140 to get proace ti dream + BG85!. solid feel, power smash... Really good.

swgiant, you can always get the cheaper yonex, not necessary to go for the expensive ones. the yonex MP 2x series are not that expensive. i would prefer getting yonex even it cost more rather than buying some copycats. APAC released their nanopower 7000 even before the arrivial of the nanospeed 7000 and the colors and design are almost similiar. later on, you can see bunch of others with slightly different name but following the design.. sometimes i wonder, is it only color coating or they actually use the similiar material as yonex's??... well, not to say these apac, fleet racquets are not good, but it makes me wonder....

afham07, i have the Yonex MP66 and i got it for more than RM300 in kuching, so i guessed the price you got is quite reasonable. i used the BG68Ti on this racquet. i can say it is too light for me. well, i didnt use it at all since the day i bought it. hahaaa, bought it as a spare racquet only.

hmm carb 20 tour and carb 5? i believed both racquets have being around for quite sometime. instead of carb 20, i would rather get the carb 21 special, cheaper and a nice racquet (to me). dont know much about carb 5, but should be slightly heavier than carb 2X

swgiant, yonex mp 2x is not that heavy. i tried that out before, of course the word "heavy" is very subjective here. whether it is frame heavy, balance or etc.... however lighter racquet not necessary suit a person....

the difference i can tell between carb 21sp & 21 special is the thickness of the shaft. 21 special has thicker shaft.

nanospeed 7000 and 8000 are arrival soon to kuching, and another yonex racquet that cost about RM1399.00 which is not nanospeed series... i wonder what racquet is tat. perhaps the limited edition of the armortec 800 series. cant wait to see the racquet

try BG66 or maybe some will say BG68Ti....

too soft? what do u mean? is it too low their string tension?
try 22lbs or 23lbs...it should be great for beginners and intermediate players....

just my 2 cents...

I really do think 24ibs will be too much for a beginner!!
I will hurt you if you are not good in backhand stroke!

But are you a beginner??

I think 20-21ibs...suites the best! Playing long and net game perfectly!

But of course, have to suite what player you are too la... drool.gif

if that so...go for 21lbs lorr...with BG66lbs.....

who knows u might find some improvement in ur backhand returning shuttle....

btw.....ur racquet is a pretty good choice....

p/s: IMHO...based on my personal opinion...found out that BG68Ti a bit "slippery"....thats y change back to BG66....

hmm..perhaps u got the point.. wink.gif
btw i noticed some players tend to hold the racquet near to the bottom so that they can get harder hit but i prefer to hold it high cause i find it easier to have a faster stroke...especially when stalking in front of the net tongue.gif

actually to decide how much the tension should b use, 1st u mus know the weight n quality of ur racquet as well as ur own strenght. some racquet can hold up to 30 lbs where as some only manage to hold up to 27-28 lbs. it will b hard for u to return the shuttle if u don hv enough strength n ur tension is too high. i myself is using BG66, 24lbs n my racquet is Ace Power Titanium 68 Long.
(FYI, make sure u remove ur racquet string imeadiately if it has broken, bcoz the unbalance tension will bend ur racquet or make ur racquet goes out of shape especially when u put it in ur car boot n park ur car under the hot sun.)

n for where to hold the racquet, u can adjust urself while during the game. It is recomended to hold the upper part of the handle when u serve , push n drive the shuttle. bcoz in this way u can react faster with better power n the shuttle will move faster. however, it better to hold at the bottom if u want to lop or smash, bcoz in tis way ur racquet will hv greater swing n the force to push the shuttle also higher, so u'll achieve a more powerful smash n solid return.

actually, never hold a racquet at the same location on the grip. it has to be flexible and you can adjust your grip either when u stroke, smash, or stalking in front of the net and backhand.. therefore, u can move your palm up and down the grip, depending on your needs.

and using very high tension is not necessary the solution and high tension on certain racquet might be too much stress for the racquet and the wrist of the owner.

using mp66 with 26lbs might be a bit too much for the mp66 to handle. yonex recommended about 22lbs for that racquet.

normal is way below 26lbs. NEVER listen to the shopkeepers. some times, they dont know and simply giving advice for the sake of giving one. just make sure the you are comfortable with the tension and you can try to increase it by 1 or 2 lbs after you get use to the current tension. of course, you can always stick to the 22-24lbs range.

i dont really need that high either. if your wrist is strong, 22-24 is good enuf.

agree with you.....
sometimes shopkeeper really like to base on their own preferences....
they tend to recommend their product base on what they like and used to...

therefore...always try on your own...
doesn't mean that you cannot get their opinion...
just bear in mind that their opinion not 100% suit you...still depends on your need, capability and style....

Protech standard @ RM33 recommend for value use. for hard hitters and smashers, you can try out the protech tournament @ RM41 or protech masterpiece. They are durable. Now, i have tried the masterpiece @ RM 44, can last for 1 1/2 games... but if smash alot then 1 game is OK...

Anyway, RSL official is no longer durable as before. alot of players here have to stop using RSL official, as it has no great durable for hard smashing.

myth, i shall do that if i get it.

Swgiant, thats the reason i bought the MP66. It is kinda risky to use even my armortec 800OF when playing double. I use cheaper racquet if playing with someone new and never partner before. But since that my wilson hypercarbon 6.5 broke few months ago, i have to use the OF more often. somehow i just could not get use to MP66 (maybe too light for me). and this is the major turn off for me when i saw the nanospeed 8000 which has head light balance (same as MP66)

however, i think if i get the Armortec SB-LE, i will not even string the racquet for quite some time. hehee

Not able to derive power in smash using light racquets.

Question - If wrist strong enuf, will that make any difference? If u have strong wrist, will it still be better to stick to not-so-light racquet?

In any case, what good are light racquets for?

i still stick to my AT800 even though play doubles...
no issue so far...

did clash few times....no paint chip issues or crack even....
btw...AT800 is meant for double....so i guess its more relevant to be used in doubles game.....

Light racquets gives you more mobility in set plays. Meaning, you can do flicks faster and your wrist turns without less resistance. These type of racquets are mainly for singles play.

If you have a strong wrist, either heavy/light racquet would work. I prefer racquets that are not so light and not so heavy. That way, I can generate enough power for my smashes and light enough to do tricky flicks and not backfire. biggrin.gif

Ok, I get the picture of light and heavier racquets.

I know there are a lot of racquet models flying around in this forum, but which one falls under the not too light and not too heavy category? Say, Yonex brand, price no more than 200?

Sorry guys if this question was asked and answered earlier of this thread. Guess it's been so long this thread had been active....

thanks!

Not necessarily Yonex. There are other brands like ProAce and Fleet that provides medium weighted racquet just like Yonex's.

Just my 2 cents. I'm using Fleet and ProAce and I think they're equally good.

for equally priced racquet, i would rather stick to yonex.

crashing racquets with partner and the racquet survived doesnt mean the racquet is durable. You might be surprised that some racquets actually broke because of the shuttle hitting it right at the edge of the frame and of course also contributed by "internal injuries". The racquet might look ok after a crash but it might break few months down the road. Afterall, it is made of graphite and racquet with high tension has bigger risk.

Hi,

Can you guys recommend some cheap and durable shuttles? Our group started out with Sea Lion 1130 but found it to be a bit light weight. Next tried Sea Lion 1011 (I think), it was ok but not durable, feathers tend to fray and break up before a game can finish. By the way, our group not expert players, some only taken up the game last year. Now we are using RSL gold which we find it's good and durable (can last 1 1/2 to 2 games) but at RM38 a dozen, quite expensive.

Have anyone tried other brands like Ashaway or Pro-Ace? Can give some feed back ah?

Also, we are from Klang, any recommedations on places can get cheaper RSL Gold shuttles?

Thanks

Don't know about Yonex, but between me and another friend of mine, we bought 3 apac rackets and so far found them to be good value for money. From their paint work one can see they are exact clones of Yonex rackets and according to the shop, no difference in performance (thats what he says lah, never used Yonex b4 so don not know whether got difference or not). Anyway the rackets cost between RM120 to RM150 each comes with the bag, stringing and grip.

I am using Protech Shuttles - the tube has Green color writing cover in white.

Very lasting and speed rate is 77 but price is RM38-RM40 not your budget.

Actually any shuttle below RM35 are bad in quality and easily broken.

Have to invest a bit more la he he

Thks wliat for your feedback. Can you tell me how long does the shuttle last, can it last two games.

The RSL Gold will depend on whether we are lucky enough to get good batches because there was once where we bought 8 tubes and 4 tubes were poor where one feathers must break off before a game is over CONSISTENTLY. Thats why nowadays we buy 3 tubes each time, don't want to get caught with a bad batch.

that is true in some ways, and i would like to add that, the skills or technic also affect the ball's life duration...bcoz if we play good, we will only hit the back part of the shuttlecocks(donno what's the name for it blush.gif ) not the feather...lastly IMHO, the court surface also affect it, if with the thin rubber pad, it will last longer... smile.gif

Just wonder,

1) I saw a lot of Yonex racquet which made in taiwan, china even for isometric/musle power which cost ard 150 only. So, my questions are;
-How is the quality if we compare with the japan made one?
-Can we trust these made in taiwan/china?
-Anyone bought this made in taiwan/china one?

2) Anyone use Carlton Airblade Lite [ http://racquetlink.webfusion.co.uk/shop/pr...b667a4e78ad519d ]?
-actually, last time I used my fren one. Feel powerfull, light and very easy to control. So, now wish to get one.
-can I get this model in Pertama complex? What is the price now?

thank you,

guys,

there ARE differences between those clones (APAC, FLEET, etc) which are similiar to certain models from yonex, for example the amortec series, TI series. Handling and the feel are different too. and perhaps, to a certain extend, the composition and material used might also be different.

And if u even come across the clones, and the actual armotec 800 OF, try looking at the structure and the arrangements of the rubber stubs where the string pass thru' and i believed they are not the same arrangement and design. (correct me if i am wrong)

I am using both amortec 800 Of, Armortec 700 and now, newest edition , the MP-66.

Myth, i have decided not to buy the Amortec limited edition as the color is not really attractive at all. Perhaps i am buying a nanospeed 8000 or another Amortec 800OF instead. well, i really love the Amortec 800 OF.

heberton,
the quality should be alright with the taiwan/china made Yonex racquet. They are manufactured under licensed. However, usually u can find them on the isometric series and the lower range muscle power series (MP20++)

xpensive ones are normally from japan itself.

You are using carlton airblade racquet? Izzit the one show in the link [ http://racquetlink.webfusion.co.uk/shop/pr...b667a4e78ad519d ] ? If yes, please let me know where to buy and current price of this series. And, if the racquet is still in good condition and you willing to sell; I don't mind to buy frm you.

p/s: if possible, can u take some picture of the racquet? Especially the 'holder' of the racquet; because this series having the unique 'holder' which is shot and but looks cute one. Please pm me, if you interest. Thank you.

Actually i really like RSL recquets. They really fit me and there a lots of selections for you just to suit your playing style, weight and string tension. They come with good stringing and a really big and nice bag. And the prices are really reasonable. This is just from my experience

Try RSL Classic. Its used in the all England. Its more expensive but its really lasting and the feel of it is fantastic. Its currently about 44 or something like that, but for us when we play, we really feel the quality difference compared to other brands.

But as they all said, it depends on your style of play. If you all are hard hitters, and occasionally mishit the shuttle, no matter what brand you buy, it still will not last that long.

Hi, I just broke my racquet last week. So, now I looking for either one of the brand as below:-

1. yonex that made in taiwan/china; coz cheaper and some1 say the quality still there since there are certified factory by yonex it self.

2. carlton air blade series

3. beddini or bedini; can't remember already.

So, my budget is below rm200. Can you tell me where can I buy with the good price? Currently im working in Penang but sometimes I also will go back to KL one.

p/s: if possible, please provide me the shop name also. Thank you.

other brand good also... yonex maybe more than rm 150..
you can use other brand like proace or carlton...
the most important part is not a racket but its string...
wut string that suits to you...21, 23, 25 or more...
if you use some racket usually, u can feel that racket lightly...
that only my opinion...

Im staying in Penang, that day I went to few shop to look for any good racquet. I saw the yonex muscle power 66 cost rm195 but made in taiwan. For me, the weight of this racquet is just nice to me. Feel so sweet when u hold it on your hand. And actually when you hold this racquet you can feel that this racquet is very powerful and strong one. If not mistake, Im going to buy this racquet liao...

So, any comment/experience to this model? FYI, I heard that the yonex's frame are easily broke when it hit to other racquet. Izzit true? Just worried about this; coz nobody want to spent abt rm200 to buy a easy broke racquet...

p/s: anyone of you heard about one local made brand "Vomino"? Caused I saw one model which clone the yonex's latest model -- Nano Speed. I compared this two racquet, very similar in terms of weight, quality of color painting; really almost the same. The major different is the price loh. This Vomino cost only rm200 while yonex's Nano Speed cost few times of this Vomino. So, anyone of you try this Vomino model?

I only saw muscle power 25,30 and the higest is 66.
price are as below:
muscle power 25=rm129
muscle power 30=rm175
muscle power 66=rm195

Remember all these model are made in Taiwan. Im not sure whether these is the best price for these model or not. But, if anyone of you know where can get cheaper. Please let me know. My previous racquet already cost rm169. So, probably this time I will increase my budget to buy muscle power 66. Because that day I tried it, its really feel so sweet...

I just got a contact which can buy yonex nano speed 7000 or even 8000 and mp99; not 66 or 88. The price as below:-

Yonex Nano Speed 7000- rm130
Yonex Nano Speed 8000- rm150
Yonex Muscle Power 99- rm100

I ask the seller, why the price is so cheap compare to the market price. He say all these racquet are immitation racket that made in China. Comes with a very good quality. 99% look alike original. That's why its price very very cheap.

He also tell within one month, he can sell abt 100 pcs.

So, what do you say? Can we trust the quality of these racquet or not? Although the material, design can be the same but the technology to produce the racquet can be different mah. Who knows these racquet can last how long woh, right? Bear in mind, the original Nono Speed 7000 cost about rm700 or above. But here, the price of immitation Nano Speed is abt 6 times lower compare to the original set.

I agreed with you. But honestly, the price is really attractive loh... I think i will just go for the MP66 that cost rm195; which is made by Yonex in Taiwan factory. Feel much more safe there...

You know whether can get this model below rm195? I hope the price in KL will be cheaper.

So I would like to get a ProAce DMS 99 with BG 80 set at 25lbs .. What you guys think? Is it appropriate ? Thanks ..

Seems that not many people here recommend Isometric series.
Is it not good? How much does an Isometric racket cost?

I read a lot of forum/discussion that saying that nowadays the yonex racquet a easily broken even without hit any object(dunno how true it is). Besides, MP66 is made in Taiwan not in Japan. I also heard from the boss, they say those yonex that made in taiwan; the graphite is not that durable and strong. Because they cannot pull the string too tight else will easily broke a smash...

So, now thinking to get the old yonex model instead of the new generation model. It just like buy insurant loh. Feel more safe even you play rough with the racquet. But who knows, when I went to the Racquet World; I cant see any Cab 21sp but muscle power made in taiwan and china. Dunno sold out or what. I should ask the boss whether can order Cab 21sp with the price rm220, but I didn't coz rushing to leave KL. Now a bit regret loh...

Actually, beside this Cab 21sp, I also aimed for Carlton Airblade series. The price is rm190 without string and grips. I see a lot of Carlton racquect, they usually more durable that yonex (this is only my opinion, plz correctly me if i am wrong) although they also made in Taiwan. So, if I cannot get Cab 21sp with the price around rm220. Definately I will buy Carlton Airblade.

I will be going to Japan soon. Wonder if the price there is cheaper than KL or not. Will I be taxed for bringing in a badminton racquet?

Is it not good? How much does an Isometric racket cost?

dude...i suggest u go for the mp series...the racket break for no apparent reason is not that "simple"...he must hv had a crack due to this previous clash with some1's racket thus causing a weak point in the racket...then..when the u coincidently hit the weak point,it breaks..or temperature is also a factor...stringing tension is also a factor...its not that easy to break it...no matter wat..yonex will hv a certain QC to achieve...it mite b lower a bit..but still...
y not u try pro ace...its quite durable...trust me...

I came back from ....... Pertama (heh heh haven't gone to Japan yet)

Yonex MP 44 (Japan) - RM230 (incl. strings & grip)
Yonex MP 30 (Taiwan) - RM170 (incl. strings & grip)
CAB 21SP is heavier and pricer than 21 Special
Amortech 800 - RM299 (incl. strings & grip)
Taiwan brands only up to MP30

Racket World also recommended a brand (forgot liao ... scratch head huh.gif doh.gif ) priced at RM170. The shaft is very flexible, head is lime green in colour (very striking colour), had some features like air carbon (i think). Another model blue in colour is priced at RM190. This brand is made in China. Can someone help me to recall the name of this brand? doh.gif huh.gif blink.gif notworthy.gif

Sorry I forgot already.

Can someone recommend a shop in KL where I can buy the MP66 (incl. grip + strings) for less than RM200? What is the best string for MP66 and what tension I should use for it?

I would like to try a flat head racket and my choices are:
1st, MP66
2nd, Fischer

Do you know the website for the Fischer rackets? I was told that it is a German brand, but the prices in Pertama are for rackets made in China. It the racket heavy or light, I prefer heavy types for better smashing.

haih..very sad..i just broke my mp55...
but i can tell..its a strong racket la...very strong one...
judging from the tension of the string and the knock i had with my partner's racket...(his broke directly after the clash)...mine broke a month later..hehehehe...this is wat i suspected...due to the weak point created after the clash...
but when the mp55 broke...u can really see..the carbon is very strong indeed...very very hard2explain why i say its strong...but..wow..its good!!!

dear all,

i'm from Penang and currently looking for a racket. i'm using a carbonex 20 SP at this moment. love this racket, adds power to my smashes even though i'm a small guy.
anyway as not really a good player, i would like a look for a racket that is more forgiving ( bigger sweet spot ) and more control. a friend recommended me trying an isometric shape racket, says it has a bigger sweet spot thus more forgiving.
my budget is around RM300, can u sifus out there gives some recommendations? would like to try Yonex MP series but hard to find in Penang. however saw MP44, 66 and 88 at one shop with very high price. the MP 88 retail price is RM649......didn't ask for any discount YET. can anyone tell me how much it costs in KL?
also FYI, would like a racket that is balance ( a little bit heavy on the head for power ) and maybe a medium to stiiff shaft.
about weight, one question, nowadays rackets getting lighter but manufacturers like Yonex claims that despite a lighter head, it can still generate power??? i'm sceptical about this hence my reluctance to get a racket weight lower than 3U.

thks.....
