Emm .. I suspect this is call from one of those annoying telemarketers selling you all the thing that you do not need. The closest card I know have the Twin Towers design on it for all the classic, gold & platinum card. (EON Bank - MATTA card) Don't be so easily fooled by these telemarketers tactics - what you should have done is ask them to fax all the stuff over and you'll sign up if you are interested, they'll give you all sort of excuses because all they want is you to sign up over the phone.

Problem is ... they don't give up and once you get these calls, you'll get more as well. I suspect they pass around the numbers to their friends. In the US, you're protected by law if you ask telemarketers to put your name in the "No call list" and you can sue them if they do call you. Here, no protection for us the consumers - you gotta be tough to these guys if needs to be.

i want to ask the hsbc device you guys talk about is it for their

powervantage account ? or basic saving account ?
what is the requirement to have that powervantage account ?
*
The security device is meant for those who use their online banking facility. I'm not sure if there is any special requirement for one to be eligible to open the PowerVantage account at HSBC like their Premier Banking. But i do know there are TWO types of PowerVantage account. They are "PowerVantage account with full facilities" and "PowerVantage account with E-Chequeing facilities". For "PowerVantage account with full facilities", HSBC will charge you RM15/month should your funds in the bank fall below RM75,000.00.

It can happen to anyone ... anytime. I too had this experience several years back but my card was cloned instead of being used online. At least Maybank has proactive measures and actually in my best knowledge RHB & UOB also practices similar approach. Whenever you perform a transaction which is out of the ordinary - be sure to receive a call from the CS within minutes.

Don't get discouraged. Just need to be careful and make sure you got a good antivirus / antispyware installed on your machine. Keyloggers / vulnerabilities on your machine may leak out sensitive information without you knowing it.

Anyone that receive a call that related to credit card? A malay lady called me this morning and asking whether I'm using credit card or not. (I'm not really clear what she was saying that time) This is most probably a scam.
