The problem with unifi user base is the are normalized with this kind of service.
thanks to the unjust contract and those low iq 'borrowed fiber' misinformation, most of them never get to try the taste other hsbb isp like maxis or celcom and experience what a quality network supposed to be like.

at this point they could just upgrade everyone with 300mb+ packages to 1gbps for free, and they wont lose a single cent when their international gateway is already congested/capped and they have no plan to do anything about it.
The only thing that matter to them is users see the speedtest to nearest local server showing full gauge matching their advertised package, and thinks everything is working fine. Exactly as planned.

Think I will try hosthatch. Heard some ugly things about them in LET from time to time, but for price they offer.. why not? lel

Other hsbb isp like maxis or celcom have their own set of problems such as slower on sight technical support and speed capped below subscribed speed by TM.

Cant say about maxis since I dont use it, but I subscribed both celcom at home, alongside unifi at office.

I agree on TAT when cable breaks, around 5 days at minimum. fully rebated however.

The rest of support is day and night difference.
So far my experience on unifi, any support call (100) must wait long queue, then transfer this and that person for other specific issue then wait again. Try to call during peak time? forget it. technical issue dept after work hour? public holiday? you gotta be kidding me. If the issue is bit more technical 100% they will go "sorry sorry please email to help@tm" for further assistance. Not to mention what being said at tmpoint and 100 often contradicts each other.
Celcom calls picked up almost immediately, single person for many type of issues, and it is statefully tracked for every call. I don't have to explain about my previous call. When I got into some routing issue last time (some weird connectivity issue with HE upstream), the engineer himself personally contact me to test together.

The biggest issue I have with celcom post merger is with their bean counters at their hq doing absolutely nothing about customer retention and loyalty. absolute zero appreciation for old customers.

So far all people I know that using celom/maxis/astro/digi get advertised speed, +-5% extra.
All have uncapped 1gbps port. They did in place package upgrade without involving tm people at all, and get full new speed within 24hrs.
I don't even know where is this speed cap misinfo coming from . One person didn't get full speed for whatever reason, spawn a hypothesis that tm capped the speed for non unifi. How about the rest 99% that get advertised speed without any problem?

No i get it because i have 2 ONR units but still using my old ONU, just wondering if there was any benefit of using the ONR in bridge mode rather than ONU

I think it's real that there was a intentional speed cap, just that they stopped doing it in the recent years, so new sign ups get expected speeds

ONU and ONR in bridge mode are exactly the same. Both contrained by their 1Gbps ports.

I definitely agree that there is zero appreciation for old customers. I was on Digi fibre (switch from Unifi). When Unifi get free speed upgrade and Celcomdigi get price reduction, I called in to enquire and was told there will be no price reduction for old Digi fibre plan. I would have to upgrade to the new Celcomdigi plan and recontract for 2 years.
As for speed cap, it is really happening, just that some users are lucky. Back when I was on Unifi 100mbps, I get consistently 5% more of the subscribed speed, sometimes even reaching 110mbps. When I switch to Digi fibre in 2021, max speed is capped exactly 100mbps which I am definitely fine with. I even do a comparison during the interim period with both ISP running (Unifi on lan 1 and Digi on lan 2), Unifi getting consistently above 100mbps.
End of November 2023, I switch to Maxis fibre 100mbps. Speed is capped at 93 - 95mbps. I have no motivation to go for 300mbps plan as evidence from those with speed cap, they could only get around 270mbps.
I called up Maxis to report, tech came and cannot do anything because apparently it is over 80% of the subscribed speed. I am 1000% sure if 2 years down the road I again decide to switch to Unifi, speed capping will be lifted.

Even in Fb, there are ppl who only get around 270 for 300mbps and 460 for 500mbps, tested on lan. Speed cap is real, whether or not one are impacted depends on luck.

went to tm point today to change to swu 4.0 unifi 500 rm139. should've done it sooner during swu 3.0 when it was priced rm119. previously was on unifi 300 (free upgrade to 500 (2018) and 800 (2023)) which was rm179 nett.

It was cheaper in past few years with 3.5sgd per month. (But with 100M)

Hosthatch is more price-wise with offer,but if TM change the routing again,then it might latency high to 40+ms or more,and it would be no suitable anymore.

And in near future(My guess:within 1-2years),we will be getting more Malaysia server selection that might having good connection to worldwide.
There are more than 10 Datacenter coming soon in Malaysia. Especially like those famous hosting company like Equinix or Microsoft already building their DC.
I will try to rent some vps or cloud server on those hosting at that time for testing the connectivity.

true, it's cheaper than what is offered/advertised by unifi on their website. what if i'm a new customer who only wants broadband without the tv/netflix stuff? my options with unifi are still expensive.
do other average consumers know about swu? i only found out about swu through forums. at tm point i had to mention i have a transfer request from maxis, only then the agent bothered to mention about swu.
is it really a promo when it's the same price as other telco ie time broadband 500 is also rm139 (standard price)? sure time's coverage is limited. to compare, unifi mentions their standard price for unifi 500 is rm209 (now promo rm159), without any tv/netflix stuff.

I also visited tm point on last night and straight away asked them is there 100M promotion with RM79? But all told me that the 100M monthly price is RM89 not RM79, just curious how can I sign up for RM79 100M deal? Any idea??
