Been going gym consistently for a year but don't feel like I'm bulking up as I desired. Thought of taking protein shake. Any good brands to rekemen?

Same here been going to the gym consistently without fail since augus last year. Doesnt really look ripped. Just bigger and a little sado look.

From 60kg to currently 68.5-70kg

Im taking myprotein Impact Whey Isolate. So far so good. If your concern is to bulk can try liquid calories intake.

1-2 scoop of ice cream
2 scoop protein
250ml milk
Add some fruits / peanut butter / ice etc

Blend everything and drink everyday.

-Optimum Nutrition
-My protein
-Muscle pharm
-PS Whey

and some other brands i dont remember.

But best and the one i sticking with is My Protein, brownie choco is very tasty.

Optimum nutrition.

I know it's expensive now, but no choice, stick to quality products.

I take 2 scoops a day. 3 if my daily protein intake never hit the target of 180g a day

Very torture + strict diet , better just stick with healthy look with around 13-15% pbf

Never heard of it lol, just go with the traditional whey protein/mass gainer + creatine combo enough.

If you do your workout properly and progressively overload sure will see result overtime.

You dont need that much protein unless youre on gear or at top 10th centile

What you need is more calories and iron (lift more)

2 scoops of good quality whey a day is enough if you malas getting protein from your food, which you shouldn't be as you need the calories from your food either way
Whey proteins are supplements, not meal replacement

Youre better off spamming eggs and rice.
Relatively cheap for the protein and calories they give, and can be made delicious

Fat is also a cheap way to spike your calorie but do it at the end of the day after you've lift because youll feel like shit right after a fatty and salty meal

Edit: avoid salt in your food btw. This is the one that makes you feel like shit and bloated. And for the sake of your cardiovascular health
Fat can be used, salt just bodo bodo increase your blood pressure

Yup usually sold seperately but can be consumed together. I usually just mix my whey & creatine together and drink 1 shot since creatine are tasteless.

Even 13-15 is hard to maintain with strict diet after 30. 15-20 is more realistic.

Had some success with True Mass before but also like others said, u need to track n follow your diet. For bulking you need food consistently. Been there done that, can be quite a chores.

if you want to bulk up, it doesnt mean you need to take more protein. just eat more

and just ensure that your protein intake is around 1.6 times your bodyweight

What do u suggest for the frugal old men like me?

I also almost 40, diet like crazy and workout min 5-6 times per week. What i learn is if you wanna reduce the tummy, on top of strength training you also need to do cardio. I run 5km min 2 times per week. Occasionally go for hiking after my gym session early in the morning. My highest i can drop 4.5-5% BF in a month.

Got but its usually pack as "premium" stuff but konon ye all in one from other supplement that cant sell, pure scam.

Jz buy em separately, also all creatine is the same, jz buy from reputable brand will do.

Go with tried & tested brand. ON - Optimum Nutrition. Their whey isolate protein is damn good, especially if you are prone to feeling bloated/no appetite after drinking protein shake.

It’s easy on the stomach, and doesn’t mess with your appetite

Like it or not, whey protein is probably the best value for protein in the market. Last time I calculate, one serve of whey protein cost around rm2.00 - rm2.50.

Cheaper than that is 4 eggs at around rm1.

But would rather drink a flavoured whey protein drink or eat 4 boiled eggs twice a day? sweat.gif

Try compare chicken rice vs whey protein/cost , u will know the answer.

I'm not an expert to recommend anything because I've only tried one brand. Mesotropin platinum hydro whey (vanilla). Its fairly cheap ($80) and I can drink it down. I tried isolated whey and its too disgusting for me, like an episode of fear factor where they blendered animals organs and drinking it raw.

me cardio 0 at the moment. maybe thats why. fully into lifting heavy, so body is getting bigger but tummy still big also.

Yeah, I'm not too fond of the taste but I like that it gives me feeling full and not hungry all the time. Having more protein in our daily intake is just really good for overall health.

Buy Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Double Rich Chocolate from LAC store (formally GNC).
If buy protein at least buy from a proper source. Too many fakes out there, some even open shop and sell only gym supplements, those are mostly not authorized seller.

If want to bulk in a short time, skip the protein, makan or inject 'substance'.

None. no matter how tasty it is. You'd get sick of the taste after 10 servings or so. After that you just take it because you already spend money on it so no choice gotta make room for calorie of the day for protein shake

Best it to just eat more steak/chicken/salmon/tuna/eggs. More fulfilling

Around there but jiken breast cheaper at <RM2 per 100g = 31g protein. Someone mentioned awhey, it's like half the price of ON gold. Price per g of protein, jiken breast still cheaper but prep time mafan la laugh.gif

Personally, I'd rather have jiken breast cause whey tastes terrible to me but can be very time consuming at high consumption. Social/dating life suffers too.

Not technically true. Protein helps with muscle repair and recovery, and lifting heavy stress your muscle. Protein build muscles. Muscles are heavier than fat

However if youre using it for weight loss it means you're losing fat faster than you're building muscle.

I avoid usn whey. I guess my body not conpatible. My wife tell me get out of bed room coz my fat stinks. Even i feel like wanna vomit

Its unbearable. Will finish the tub and move back to MMX whey. Suprising not much fart and smelly

Breakfast is my cheat time, oats or brown bread with cheese and ham before I start my journey at 630 am, then when in office, join my colleagues for mee, mee hoon or nasi goreng as I need to burn those carbs before lunch time gym cardio, then lunch of steamed chicken breast or light stir fry with vegetables, pine nuts or walnuts plus some pasta to keep me going until dinner which I do light dishes with chicken breast or egg whites (souffle, scrambled or boiled) with half a bowl of cooked quinoa. I use optimum nutrition gold standard. Easy to get and sometime Ada promo

I tried a few la usn , mmx and felt that the local ones just can’t make it, sure Ada sembelit punya or feel like bloated

My prefer flavour is white chocolate. Sedap and creamy if mix with milk and sometime is my meal replacement with 3 scoop for dinner

its cheap if compared with ON Gold Standard. and taste better. in terms of content, ofcoz ON Gold is the cleanest most recommended product, although prices have gone up recently.

if u want creatine, better take separately because the amount (3g) in MT not sufficient pun.

I personally recommend muscletech Protien ( the other version and not the ripped one)

It has whey and 3mg of creatine per scoop. It works for me after testing few brand line ON, etc etc

Creatine is good supplement to your Protien and works well and notice difference

You are new on your journey, you should be able to make easy newbie gains. My advice is to eat more eggs and meat. I have been consistently eating at least 4 size L eggs everyday for 8 years. Cholesterol level is still within range. I fry them in either olive oil or butter.

I would say 6 eggs a day is a good balance. 4 for breakfast and work in 2 more during the day. Chicken is good cheap source of protein if you have to eat halal. But mix between breasts and thighs. You need the fat for growth and performance. Pork actually is more protein dense, but it has more fat and not halal. Another good source will be whole milk. I drink about 11 liters of whole milk a week.

Try to eat more real food before using shakes. Because shakes are not complete meals. The only protein I would recommend is casein protein. It is a slow digesting form of protein. Try to go 5 times a week, and do the classic body parts split.

Back and biceps. Some call this the pull exercise day
Chest and triceps. Some call this the push exercise day
Leg day.

You can choose to incorporate shoulder exercises on either push or pull days. I mix

2 pull days, 2 push days 1 leg day. However you want to schedule it, but obviously not the same exercise 2 days in a row

Don't do cardio before your workout; this will tire you and use up energy that would've been better spent on your workout. You can do your cardio session after your workout.

You can walk on the treadmill for 3 min to warm up and do your stretches afterwards, but to do your cardio session before workout is hindering your max workout output later on

Better way to warm up is by lifting half your load for a few reps before starting your actual workout. This warms up the right muscle with the right range of motion intended for that workout.

Gold Standard (whey) is for lean gain or maintenance or cutting.
Mass Gainer if you nak pack a lot of calories + muscle or bulking.
Creatine is to give energy before workout with some other value added properties.

Protein powder/supplement clean protein. Tak banyak calorie and lemak.
Protein dari sumber makanan lain banyak jugak lemak and kalori, among other things. Might be costly in the long run kalau nak maintain high protein low fat.

You can get all your protein from regular foods. Treat whey protein like just another food.

I don't see the issue here. Just consume any kind of food to achieve your daily protein target.

Mine is 180g a day. Most people just can't eat their protein, so it's easier to drink. But if you can, go ahead.

Whey is also cheaper too. 24g for rm5. Eating a high protein meal outside gonna cost more.

Like I said before, great whey like another type of food. It's not that big of a deal. It isn't like a magical supplement that will automatically make you stronger and bigger.

Really depends on the food. If the food they take have enough protein to repair damage done to their muscle, even without supplements can see gains.
If you makan food high calorie less protein jadi gemok.

If you practice clean eating high proetin, you can get away without protein supplement but who really have the time and energy to do so?

Maybe you can first start to track your protein intake from your normal everyday meals. See how much that is. Malaysian standard food, esp those street/foodcourt foods, are usually low in proteins.

Then you set your daily protein intake target and then figure out how you can get there..using whey or eggs or steaks etc.

Gainer/Protein mostly people ate after workout. Creatine generally before.

Many people doesn't even take creatine and substitute it with caffeine, same same but different. I also never, but then again I'm not the kind that do rep till failure.

My protein suck balls. There is something in it that makes it taste kinda weird. You have to try it to understand what I’m saying.
I thought I cheap out and get an expired or fake one on Shopee so I just deal with it but there my friend that buys direct or something gave me one coz he doesn’t like it anymore and it also got the same weird taste

Switched to ON and been a happy guy ever since. It taste just like drinking choco milk instead of some weird taste

But ultimately, just get some sample of each and see which one you like then commit to it
