Will be waiting for the release as this is my usual replacement cycle for the iPhone. Probably just pre-order it from Maxis as usual and get it delivered to the house. I hope Maxis has sorted out the whole eSim transfer thing already.

Pro or.not pro?

Not too sure at the moment as well, currently using the iPhone 12 Pro Max and seem to like the size of the screen. But as I do carry it together with my iPad most of the time, I might opt for the non-Max version this time and stick with just the Pro.

Personally I only want to see what new features and looks Apple will provide in Iphone 14. Hopefully a change with the design, because the Iphone 13 design is getting outdated and identical its previous models Also too many competitors now that can beat Apple in terms of specs and design and I heard Apple want to put ads in more apps in Iphone? I think this will prompt Apple users into switching to androids

Also, based on TechNews, they said that the announcement will be on September 7th, 2022. Sales on September 16th, and Malaysia most probably getting it by end of September. Announcement will consist of Iphone 14 series, three types Apple Watch 8. Do note though that this is not an official announcement.

still no on-screen fingerprint, the face ID with mask is not working smooth alas

Was thinking if i14 last gen with lighting connector, might as well skip and wait for usb c.
else any accessory that use lighting cable will need to change next time when upgrade.

underscreen fingerprint/touch ID will never come to iphone. face ID is the way for Apple since they also enable mask face ID now. It's more certain that they will not go underscreen touch ID anymore. It actually working really well for me mask face ID. Even wearing cap I'm still able to unlock it smoothly.

Lightning cable accessories? What accessories you would need to use the lightning port anyway? Other than the charging cables, I have not needed any accessories that is lightning connector..

So many excuse.. I guess iPhone is not for you tbh.

It looks like the only main selling point this year is the 48MP main camera and pill design. Other improvements are very minimal and negligible. The video playback is only 1 hour more for the battery.

how about satellite sos? crash detection?

yes yes, this is 3rd iteration of current square design, expect next year might have design change and less internal organ change

If you change telco suddenly, you might not be able to enjoy certain telco prices. Cause they usually ask you to be with them for 6 months plus first before they let you enjoy it with the contract offer prices.

Yeah saw that but it didnt clearly state otherwise. Most of articles I read says "at least" in the US.
If they really do implement that in other region, it'll be a major headache for traveller since most of telcos only provide esim on their postpaid users.

It is possible to change telco before pre order, but suggest you MNP at center because faster than MNP online. Not all telco has strict requirement of staying 6 months like digi to get device benefit, so do check with the telco you want to go for.

Yes pretty sure majority of telcos these days want you to be at least 6 months old account. Maxis, Celcom , Digi, Umobile. Unless they decide to update their policies already but I don’t think so. They are doing all they can to prevent their own losses as well and make sure that the offers are only for good customers.

porting in and out is easy and almost instant these days, but as shared above you might lost the privilege account status and some plans are only eligible to their prime customers which have stayed with them for at least a year.

you do not need to remove supp line before starting a contract, as long as you clear your outstanding bill then it's good to go, on the other hand it your supplementary wants to open a contact, they have to convert to principal before doing so... but these days they have plans for supplementary as well, like Maxis zerolution etc

- SOS satellite is only available in US & Canada.

Price the same in usd but Malaysia currency conversion now +500 bucks more basically paying 5799 for 256gb 13 pro max last year and 5799 for 128gb 14 Pro Max this year..

Well this is expected for almost all new iterations of the new iphone. If you are expecting major upgrades or differences, upgrade your Iphone once every 3-4 years.

Back to the 3GS -> 4 -> 4s (siri implement) era can so call innovation. Now BIONIC is big innovation but Apple leaves a lot of space to not make improvements overall (software).

that was what i observed on iphone 12 season, where machine pre-order same time as apple pre-order.

did not purchase iphone 13, so not sure ip13 season pre-order.

I think it is an innovation, because coming from a semi conductor background in fabrication and working in research for new materials for chips, Apple is really pushing the envelope in chip design, power, performance and heat dissipation. It is truly remarkable but unfortunately, not something a lay person might see and appreciate.

But we also need to Thankful as well, since app store still price tag at RM3.99 = $1 cause recently AppStore got revised some price in other countries.

Sorry I didn't make it clear. What I mean is hardware and software didn't par alongside. Even Developer have no time to maximize the BIONIC & M series chips.

This is a bad cycle (wasted) if continues going into the long run, just because want to get a nice digit on the revenues report.

To be fair, current gen of Iphones are already very capable in terms of innovation and tech. So it is very hard to introduce major upgrades or improvements. That is why upgrades and innovation are slow to come by. It will be hard to introduce something better to an already great product.

Same case with androids. I dont see much improvements on tech and innovation either. That is why I would not be upgrading my phones every year. Maybe once is year 2 - 3 years.
