Yup, but have to wait till November to be exact, coz the contract was on an iPhone 12 series which launched later here due to Covid back in 2020. Anyways, will have enough time to read all the reviews and see the new space black vs deep purple before deciding, hehe…

But this time I might not upgrade two phones, just one. Wife is currently using the 13 Pro Max and I’m using 13, so will just get a 14 Pro Max and sell off one or the other. I don’t see the logic of getting a 14 or 14 Plus this round. Even the processor is not new. But I do suspect the 14 Plus will have even better battery life than the 14 Pro Max.

I think if you walk in to the maxis centres (not the dealers) you can ask to extend your contract and they usually will waive the penalty. That has been the case for me over the years.

Will be doing the same this round since my wife’s 12 Pro Max was bought in November (delayed due to the pandemic in 2020) so won’t be preordering too.

There could be some rebates from credit card partners but it won’t be a lot, haha… need to look out for it though.

I remember during the last iPhone launch (or was it iPhone 12 series) got 300 off for Standard Chartered and HSBC on Shopee or Lazada... But the vouchers are limited so need to keep a lookout for them...

She got the 12 Pro Max on contract back in 2020 which was delayed due to the pandemic. Anyways, I preordered the 13 Pro Max from maxis on my own contract last year and it didn’t go very smoothly at midnight, but I managed to get one the next morning at 5am so ya, even if I’m eligible to preorder in less than 90 minutes from now I still wouldn’t stay up to try. Sleep more important for old man like me, hahaha….

Using this now for my iPhone 13 and have ordered one for the 14 Pro Max as well. As far as a MagSafe compatible case is concerned, this one is probably one of the better value for money one and you can get some discounts buyingi it from Shopee too, so it’s a no-brainier. It is very prone to fingerprint stains though.

Exactly.. so I bought one of those back stickers that you typically stick at the back of your phone - and I stuck it on the back of my case, hahaha. It doesn’t look great but it works!

Normal contract definitely more savings. The Zerolution program was meant for folks with no credit cards so they get the instalments for the phones built into their phone bills, but was told even now they also need to have upfront payment coz of the amount of defaulters maxis encountered during the span of this program. So ya, makes very little sense to go with Zerolution these days.

Ya, when I checked mine last year also no upfront required but sometimes their system messes it up, especially for online ordering.

The 48 is a supplementary plan - you need to subscribe minimum 98 plan to get one supplementary line of 48, so if you’re getting it for say you and a partner, then that’s about RM73++ per person for unlimited calls and SMS, and 80GB total data for sharing between the two lines. It’s not a bad deal but other telcos probably have better. Maxis is always more expensive.

It’s worth reiterating that choosing a mobile plan should never be about the price first and foremost, but the coverage. If all telcos have equally good coverage where you live, work and play, then can go for the best deal.

My wife says she doesn’t like the pill and prefers the notch so she told me to get the 14 Pro Max for myself and she’ll keep her 13 Pro Max till next year. I usually pass her the latest iPhone after a month or two of usage but this round she doesn’t want the new toy - so lucky me? One thing is for certain though, the 14 Pro Max won’t have as stellar a battery life as the 13 Pro Max. Almost every review I’ve read or seen confirms this

Nice! I'm also into only MagSafe cases now since I got a MagSafe holder in my car. Currently using a UNIQ one for my iPhone 13 and have bought the same for my future 14 Pro Max, haha. Given the price after discount and coins cash back, I think it's the cheapest so-called branded MagSafe case out there (everything else is over RM100) and so far it's pretty good - I've accidentally dropped my phone while on a run recently and the protection was good, no dents or scratches on the phone at all! Only setback is that as all clear cases, it attracts fingerprint stains like crazy! Do share which MagSafe case you decide to go with
