Currently in same situation as you with porting over from android to IOS.
Had been using android phone for almost 10 years now.
Porting data is really convenient now for WhatsApp's as it can be done via Move to iOS apps.
Just download that and use it during phone setup.
your usage is quite high considering for 170Gb now, i would suggest either cut down usage or upgrade to 512.
I will be getting 256Gb as my usage only at 128gb so far.
I do plan on using the Family plan 1Tb one, so no concern with the phone data. (Shared with family)

Im in the same situation as well! Has been using android (Samsung) since smartphone era, this is my first time going into IOS ecosystem. Super excited and looking forward to the ecosystem. My current phone is S10e and the battery is dying, need to charge 3 times at least per day. So i think 14 PM will be a very big upgrade for me. Hope this 14PM can last me at least 4 - 5 years.
So I have setup my iPhone yesterday, the transition of WhatsApp from Android to iOS was quite seemless. I used this app called "move to IOS" which will allow you to move your pictures, WhatsApp messages, contacts and afew other configurations into apple.
This is done during the initial setup of the iPhone, even before you do iCloud ID setup.
To move around 20gb of images and WhatsApp took around 2-3 hours..
There was a popup to bring all my android apps along, but I wanted a clean start and to only download apps that I would really use.
Now my storage space is at 44.3/256 GB
Guess I have quite alot of space and don't need iCloud storage
