How much was the installation charge? Over the ceiling or just normal along the wall, at which part of house is this?

The red color VLAN line, I currently just use normal ethernet cable to connect, what's special cable need to be done? and I guess I have to configure something with the switch to make the trunk aware of vlan600?
*
Yes, the red line is just one normal Cat5E ethernet cable (with 2 virtual LANs in it.) Everything is configured on the routers and the switches.

Config will depend on your router/switch. Here're a few of the links that I referred to when I was setting mine up.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1733801/all
https://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=94&Itemid=88

My current config for my Mikrotik router.
CODE
/interface bridge port
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether1-wan1
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether2-trunk1
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether3 pvid=50
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether4 pvid=50
add bridge=bridge1 interface=ether5 pvid=50
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan1 pvid=50
add bridge=bridge1 interface=wlan2 pvid=50

/interface bridge vlan
add bridge=bridge1 tagged=ether2-trunk1,bridge1 untagged=ether3,ether4,ether5 vlan-ids=50
add bridge=bridge1 tagged=ether1-wan1,ether2-trunk1,bridge1 vlan-ids=600

LAN1: from the BTU
LAN2: is the trunk that goes downstairs where my HyppTV is.
LAN3-5: normal LAN ports.

rules of thumb interconnecting device need to use tagged vlan. end device/user need to use untagged vlan

They stopped doing that long ago

Excuse: Signal loss (From what the installer who did relocation for me)

My first installation was on 1st floor, that time was 10Mbps without unifi tv so didn't think too much, and it was with FWS

After few months promo add RM10 per month to upgrade to 30Mbps with unifi tv, so decided to relocate to ground floor beside tv

This time, the fiber from outside directly connected to BTU and the excuse above was the reason that installer told me

if you want FWS, you can ask any third party contractor for them to install it. But, your fiber reading will be a little high

Depends, if the contractor is well equipped with a fusion splicer and use a connector with factory pre-fused pigtail wire to connect with the incoming fibre cable, then the insertion loss will be ZERO or insignificant.

What concerns me are those school leaver boy installers that come to your place with mechanical based fast connectors. That one sure incur very high insertion loss because all work involved human hands.

From my experience, since streamyx 512K, upgrade to streamyx 4M, changed to unifi 10M then upgrade to unifi 30M

All 4 times the installers are believed to be school leavers so for easy sake the trainer just told them to do so biggrin.gif

They are not supposed to retain the fibre outer sheath and coil it up in the compact wall scoket box like that, the curve angle will cause too much bend causing stress on the fiber.

user posted image

You need to provide a ready pigtail connector like this to be fusion spliced with one end of it with the other end of the incoming fiber then coil up the extra length in the compact FWS box.

user posted image

Noticed the unsheathed fibre that they coil up in the splice tray is very thin which allows it to be bend and winded at larger angles?

Most of the standard free installation, TM will arrange amateur installers to do the installation for you. They don't come equipped with proper fusion splicers so they'll just cleave the fibre and plug it into fast connectors to save time.

Yes bro in other countries this type of repetitious no brainer skills are given for banglas to do. So you don't really need overqualified with degrees or higher to do such things.

But somehow TM can't even provide simple fusion splicing with pigtail connector kits like those above. They take the simplest and cheapest route by pulling the cable directly into the home, strip the sheath and cladding, cleave the fiber then insert it directly into a fast connector. So unsophisticated and unimpressed with the work.

You really can't afford to equip your installers better yet you want charge one of the most expensive rates in ASEAN region trying your customers down for 2 years with remaining months penalty early termination?

Hey guys! My Speedtest results are great, but I’ve been experiencing horrible buffering on Facebook videos today. Every video takes a few seconds to load and then it buffers constantly

Can play YouTube 4K no problem

Is anyone else facing this issue too?

Please enable IPv6 for your connections.
Sites such as Facebook and YouTube work better with IPv6 enabled.

Does IPv6 really make that big of a diffrence?
I disabled it because I use Maxis because the older Archer c5v stock router you can't change IPv6 DNS which causes a DNS leak for Pi Hole
