That stupid proton gen2 again give me headache. 2yrs old car door handle broken. Wasting 2 freaking hours diy to switch the rear handle to the driver side handle.

My 1st car is proton, my 2nd, 3rd, 4th and forever will never be proton.

A small problem doesn't need a new thread anyway.
It may happen to you but not all other gen-2 out there.

You may just the very few 0.01%.

A thread like this sooner or later will turn into a bashing thread.

If Proton has attitutes like you guys, they deserve their situation they are in now. No business should ignore even the slightest complaint or comments from customers as they provide the best feedback.

Because Proton does not heed consumers complaint and close one eye on most small complaints, they have continued with the same power window motor and door handle suppliers.

The problem is...they are complaining at the wrong place. What can all the people here do? Bash proton.

They actually not sharing, but bashing. That's the point when they opened a thread.

maybe small problem for you but not for him. I agree that the Gen 2 quality sucks. Why? bashing Proton is prohibited now? I dont see a single problem bashing Proton including other carmakers.

a door handle broke and you say you never want to buy a proton ever again??i would say that it is a illogical thinking.....many2 people buy that cars before and it dodnt happen to them, such a small things like dat happen and you blame the manufacturers....its not like you just bought your cars yesterday....anyway it MAY be that you just handle your car roughly??

haiya wat so big deal about door handle broken wor..
i all door handle made out from plastic.. plastic will break after hot wet condition in few years..
metal also will get rusty.. this wan plastic.. sure will get hard.. pull mai break lor..
for waja 35-40 each door handle.. gen2 i not sure..
hopefully my door handle dun break la.. if wanna break please break in warranty year.. (choi choi, touch wood... )

It's not a big problem, as long as it's isn't ur Engine, gearbox, sensors and brakes giving problem....those will cost u a nuclear bomb.

1 door handle for 2 years...no need to be so furious...

No doubt Proton quality is low....just complain to proper channel.

i think its equally important u complain here n complain in sc. consumer rights dude. judging by posts, we know a few ppl in this thread also have their door handles broken.

if complain here,.. at leasst maybe we know what cars to avoid right? if u just complain to sc , who the f will know this car is problematic?.. the sc wont publish in newspaper :sorry, our car got lousy handles, pls take into consideration this defect when u buy 2nd hand gen2.

I dun really think TS's intention to bring up this thread is mainly for bashing Proton. Even door handle is not a big issue but still its a way showing that proton should actually taking into consideration when they are selecting their material used for the car making. So if u said car handle broken is nothing...how if your car key broken into 2 pieces after 2 years? will this still consider "bearable" for u?

Looking at the pics, from what i can make out, proton seems to be using some cheap plastic for the handles instead of alloys

Well, used to happen on my Wira last time, the front and rear door handle broke as the plastic became brittle and Proton blamed me for parking under the hot sun for too long. Gosh ....... like that also can. Everything also blame me. Each door handle costs RM35 each and that's not as worst as the power windows, they failed after a year.

Honestly, Genting and Cameron are not as cool as last time anymore. That's a silly excuse from Proton themselves. Like my friend's case, his Iswara's radiator burst. You won't believe what they asked him. You ada tuang terlalu banyak air ke dalam radiator itu kah? Itu penutup ada ketat? Aiyo ....... I fainted when they asked my friend this question as if my friend never touched a car before.

The newly launched Proton i-Care didn't impress me at all, they're still the same people with better looking uniforms.

Venux... which batch is urs? mine is last batch of 2004 or the last batch doesn't come with the rear spoiler... there is a unique way to keep the handle good in condition... that is.... put ur thumb on that key lip area... and pull out... is alot easier to open... atleast mine work well *touch wood*

indeed i agree the car material is not really good but den.... a vios which is much expensive CKD car not that good as well....

feel so sad la... it may sound like a small problem but juz imagine u're in an emergency n suddenly u kenot open ur driver's door ad coz de handle's broken den it's damn frustrating rite... actually dis kind of thread is not say useless oso la... it's like letting de car owners 2 share their problems so dat de others r aware of it... not so much on bashing proton la... de fact is 'memang' proton has a lot of quality issues rite... if proton can create better quality cars den der wun b so much bashing,complaints and stuff like dat rite... those CKD japanese cars oso got quality issues mah but it's not as common as proton so u dun hear so many ppl bashing it mah (not referring to those ntg better 2 do hardcore P1 basher k)...

It's not bashing proton but more towards gearing them to rectify each problem and make the future car owner proud of having their product. That's all.

well if that's the real reason, it's good. But there are some hateboys that want to bash it every chance it has. Hey, even my renault has faulty wiring (only noticed it after a long drive to Kelantan), broken power window after 4 month, and minor problems with the wiper. And even complaining takes too much hassle that I end up turning a blind eye at any new problems it has. It's still driveable after 6 years so that's what matters. (and the fact that I can leave those drag racers wannabe that uses their hyped up Myvis at traffic lights too also counts XD)

erm mine don't have picture, just the air con vent cannot close so outside air can come in. how i know? well can smell the smelly dump truck when passing by. sorry no picture but its a 5 months old wise. don't plan to rectify it as the whole dashboard needs to be dismantled.

well i don't know about bashing but for the price, its consider cheap compared to other cars.

Bought new handle. See the attach picture. I can say this handle will fail me anytime. Look, the handle is hollow. They cut cost on it.

Not every1 rich guy, can afford to buy foreign cars. & yet local made Proton are not cheap either, so we at least voice out... Nowadays u can see Proton sales drop alot, u can see roadshow everywhere even at nearest fish market..

true true.. near my place got P1 and P2 roadshow side by side. more people on P2, p1 got few or nobody come. last time during P1 roadshow there's a new Waja Campro with its engine bonnet open. then out of sudden the coolant bottle dropped and spilled the green coolant everywhere on the floor. that p1 guy try to fix it with his red face

Do you guys encounter the car chassis ( door side ) has some unclear small dent that only can realized by looking at certain angle?

It usually happens after you use your car around 2 years.
I can see those small dent more on our local car than foreign car.

Might be the quality of the material they used to make our car.

I'm driving wira 2003 btw.

p/s:- this SMALL unclear dent does not occured in the first batch of wira's ( during mitsubishi time )

ok this is my story.

My sis got her new car, a Saga LMST on the 1st of August last wednesday. Problem arise since the first day itself, the problems are the dashboard panel don't have lights, supposedly shud be blue. besides that, the backlights are not working as well.

so, i sent the car to service this wednesday, 8th August, i went to the Service centre at Glenmarie. That was suppose to be the father of all proton service centre rite?

anyways, i went there and told those guys about the problems. straight the fella told me, "ok, kamu kena tinggalkan kereta kamu di sini overnight. kami sekarang ada banyak kereta kena handle, so kes kamu kami kena rectify by tomorrow la."

so i asked him, when can we get the car then, he told me it would most probably around evening. I was a bit blur dy, juz to fix the lights does not need to leave the car overnight. so i left.

then i went to this mechanic at Kg Baru Subang to change the ignition to the safer ones, and also i asked him to check about the lights. then the mechanic told me it was some loose wiring, and it only took him 10 minutes and RM5 for workmanship.

now, my complain is not about the car's problem yet, but my complain is about the service centre. they simply tell their customers to leave their cars overnight coz they got this bla bla bla bla bla....

also, this is not my first experience, it happen to me quite some times when my bro collected his Wira SE. i did all the servicing jobs for him. the service centre for the wira then was located at Section 13, PJ.

p/s: i have the receipt but i need to find for it first coz i misplaced it, gonna post the picture and let u guys view.

This really became a bashing thread.i think we should focused back to TS objective of opening this thread.List your problem,with photo as proof..So people can see wuts sort of problem dat a proton can give to users..

yeah, maybe previous proton model like wira, gen 2 and waja owners encounter the same typical proton problem. but not neo, savvy and other proton enhance model. i dont ever heard people complaining about the lastest production. if u really dont want to use proton go and get kia or hyundai (for me both sucks!). and please dont be sceptical about proton i-care. proton try to improve and u guys still want to bash them and even dont give a single chance.. what on earth happened...

actually, from my previous post, i wasn't listing down the problems that a proton car gives, hey my sis was one of the unlucky ones. what i complained was their services at their service center. The day i went to the center, they didn't even bother to check at all, but straight gave me the answer to leave the car there overnight.

well kudos for them to launch the i-care program, but IMO, on cases like mine, they should at least know how to differentiate what is major and what is minor cases. thus, by separating like this, they can increase efficiency at their service centers. I believe this move can ease their jobs plus, can satisfy their customers as well.

About the small dent, it might happen when you driving and got small stone hit on it.. And I don't think it becase of the material that they used to make the car..

First, the SC you visit have poor service.. When I get my LMST, it had some minor problem.. I bring it back to the SC near my house.. Yeah.. They so efficient.. AC control problem.. Done within half and hour.. And it had alot LMST is waiting for them.. RM27k LMST is kinda problematic.. MOst of my friend get RM27k LMST, sure bring back to SC to fix something.. And now they was happy and no problem at all.. WHile my LMST suspension die after 3 month.. After change the suspension by my own, I had nothing problem with the car.. Feel happy and the car serve me well..

exactly, my complain is not the LMST, for that price, i've told my sis to be wary about some minor problems when she get the car. the thing that i would like to highlight about is the SC service, worse that it is the one in Glenmarie. They should not have juz brush off their customers and just tell them to leave the car overnight when it only takes them 10 minutes to fix the problem.

Anyway, why don't you try COE? Should be better kua? Also, did u make an appointment or just walk in? If you made an appointment then they ask you to leave the car there, then can complain kaw-kaw lah. Maybe u should call Proton i-Care to complain?

PS. After so many years, no one has made a mod for some other mechanism of power window lets say mod from a toyota or something for the saga?

ermm okie, here's my share, i have proton iswara which i bought bout 2 years ago

it all started on the very 1st day i got my car,

1. my aircond wasn't cold so i had to bring it to refill the aircond at mechanic

2. aircond there's supposed to be something u can turn so the air would blow at head level, or feet level, or both....i changed to head level, but it blows also from feet, i turn to feet level, it also still blows from head, i turn to both, both still blow, means,.....its useless u know because i drive without shoes sometimes, and if it rains, my feet becomes so cold until it almost cramp......i went to the mechs, they say cant do anything......if want change must change alot alot

3. aircond wind blower (there's many sticks that allow you to choose which direction to blow the air to, whether left or right) okie most of the pedal wasn't put on properly, i had to manually remove the whole cover, and slowly insert those pedal into the right slot so it could be turned properly

4. The turning knob on right hand side where u can put left and right signal, or turn on light,off light and high light, that mechanism is kinda broken, its like when u turn it, its so loose, it doesn't have the tick tick sound when u turn it to on/off light....

and couple of days later

1. i found out my car doesn't have the warranty book and i cant find the sales agent anymore

2. it doesn't come with the tools to change tyres (jacker and other equips) which i think normally comes with the car

3.my car seat makes noise when i drive

4. my brake makes very loud sound when i brake

5. my whole car makes some squeek sound when the road is a little bumpy, feels like the whole car could juz split into millions at any time

6. my left hand back seat door, has some vacuum power, which makes it very hard to open it, if you're a child forget about opening it, and if you're an adult, it takes alot of energy to open it

7. mine is not the sports edition where u have extra sport rims, so mine are actually plastic covers, and the plastic covers juz drop off somewhere i dont know and leave my rims naked, the 1st to drop was right hand front rim, and then some days later, its left hand back rim...now i have 2 rim with plastic cover and 2 without

and within 1 year

1. my power window is abit sot plug, meaning sometimes can open sometimes kenot open....really frustrating because sometimes i need to pay the toll and the window cant open, its really problematic

2. my wind blocker (the thing that's attached outside your car which is somewhere near the top of the door, both front wind blocker flew off because its not sticked properly

3. my front mirror had a cracked for no reason, its not because of stone because it started from the most bottom part of the mirror and when asked, they say its normal for proton cars......

well thats all i can think of now, sorry i couldn't attach any photo because at that time i didn't bother to take them, but if u want a view of my car, hahaha let me know i'll show u if ur not too far away

anyway, why are Proton's remote keys so inefficient? they use 2 BIG batteries that konk out within a year!

my dad's Accord keys only use one small battery, which konks out in 3 years.

FYI , I have a wira 1994's model. 1.3GL. During mitsubishi time. Until now,
door handle = work properly for 13 years
front power window=never changed still in good condition
the only problem i encounter is .. the car roof, can 'shen chin chun tou' pimple on the roof.. where the rust comes out. =.="
Mechanics told me, 1st batch car were like that . sweat..

aircond front panel backlight last time can auto off on off on even u on it.. but now... it seems to be ok. car seat can make sound when u drive..
erm.. wats more.. yeah, there is a lot of SCREWS coming out from no where... it just dropped out .. n i cant figure out where it belongs... oh sweat..

Good or bad ... u guys decide. I hve no comment.

P/S: I keep my car mostly under the sun and i drive it everyday.

Fuel consumption.. RM50 for 300KM for a small town.
OLd cars, engine oil leaks.. gasket problem
the spark plugs.. lives shorter than usual new cars.

Going to 1st service this friday for my Savvy.

Got following problems which will complain:
(1) Squeaky clucth...which i DIYed and kau-tim with some WD-40.
(2) Petrol cover damn hard to open since day 1, i think my wife will scream if she tries to fill up petrol...there's no way she can open it...me myself have to hurt my fingers to open it.
(3) Some rusty bolts behind disc brake.
(4) Front passenger seat belt...sometimes cannot pull (like locked).
(5) Some mild squeaky noise coming from somewhere recently...not sure what or where.....but maybe i try to emptied out the stuff from my car and monitor again.

I hope at least they'll fix the petrol cover problem, that's the major problem so far...can't open petrol cover to fill petrol is no small issue when u run out of fuel!!!......so much for TUV.

My Myvi nearly 6 months now...except some rust in the rear door hinges, it still runs like day 1.

Let's see how they address my issue....or will they give me the standard answer..."Biasa-lah Bang....Proton!!".

I called up Proton-I-care and let them know my problems and asked them to highlight the issue to Mutiara Damansara SC.....so that the issue is recorded down at HQ....

I think that's what been advised by the Star recently...on how to get good service from your car SC....call up the HQ and have it recorded down so that it is follow up......can't say "don't know" already.

So much for Proton-I-care. When i asked the SC, he said have not receive such message from HQ...3 days cannot pass a simple complain message? Don't they have that thing call COMPUTERS in front of them?? So much for "we'll follow up with the SC and ensure the problems are addressed to...blah blah..."by the I-care service staff.

No point wasting money on advertisment, nice orange I-care cars, nice new uniforms, when a simple thing of passing a message (it's not even a major complain), can't be done in 3 days.

I think i'm going to write in to the media and just let them know it's another waste of tax payer sponsored money.

So dissappointed....cheh.

Proton I Care = Proton I Don't Care. - wasting time & credit only

Hmm my year 2000 Wira auto got the following probs:

1. Car rattles/vibrates a lot when it's set in "D" and the car is not moving, or moving a bit.
2. The aircond thing (to adjust where the aircond blows) spoil, only 1 vertical bar moves
3. When there's at least four average weight people in the car, it's very hard to avoid the car from getting scratch due to road bumps.

Any ways to solve these problems?

My proton is serving me well up to today surprisingly! except that the dashboard major counter is goin a little crazy these days...at times the counter works..and at times it doesnt...hmmm....

IMHO, how do you know the malays worker did this soldering?? As from my understanding all the component are made from the various vendors...and u said and thinking all the vendors for proton are malay? Yes we can admit maybe proton have low quality control..but it did not mean it come solely from malay.

I dare to say more than 70% of the workers in Proton are Malay.

My wira A/B meter is giving me problem. After 5 years the fuel and water temp. meter condemn. When the fuel is low with indicator light on, the meter needle show "F". When the radiator is working fine with no smoke coming out, the meter show "H". Fork out 400 to change both meter. Somemore both meter are from VDO.

Stupid rear view mirror in the car..not stable a bit vibrating..ZZZZZZ..
When to SC they say normal..
