Actually uMobile Giler Unlimited Prepaid GX38 and GX30 plans lack the addition of unlimited calls bundle.That's why it still lost the war. The nearest would be the GT30 plan but it only gives 1GB monthly which is damn stingy.

uMobile also lacks attractive data top up plan offers which DiGi and Maxis is aggressively selling nearing festive season.If you deplete your quota, you can always buy top-ups like 10GB during off peak hours for like RM2 daily or mornings and during season holidays you can buy as much as 20GB for very cheap bundles.
It is very convenient when you are desperate and needs the temporarily backup.

If you can combined both an unlimited data plan with speed between 3Mbps-10Mbps and bundle with unlimited local calls(mobile/fixed lines) sure it's going to sell like hot cakes.

Will there be quota for tethering?

I think they'll block tethering from the phone and will have a hidden FUP which protects themselves from people abusing it other than using outside the phone.

It is impossible for someone to utilize hundreds of GB from just your phone unless you tether your line to the PC and do torrenting non stop daily.

This being Maxis, torrenting is probably blocked.

Can always be bypassed with VPN. I even torrent from my phone very frequently for small to mid sized files.
So FUP with a generous quota such as 100GB is very normal to avoid line abuse.

Somehow people will always find ways to circumvent their unlimited mobile plan and tether it to their PCs for heavy downloading. Eventually people will use creative ways to bypass the hotspot blocking method.

So the most effective way is to still implement a FUP quota which is fair to every users before slowing things down. 100GB is quite a lot for single phone users.You won't be watching 4K on your phone or always at it 24/7 in front of the screen doing something.

Most of the time, you're either receiving instant messaging, watching mobile resolution movies, or just downloading mid/small size files.

Probably have some hidden FUP or 'unlimited' on some specific popular app only

No such thing as all you can eat, in Malaysia sure got some idiot will try to bypass the hotspot blocking restrictions and tether it to their PC 24/7 to do torrenting or some sort.

Implementing a sane and generous high quota between 50GB-100GB is very fair for both the ISP and user to avoid abusing.

In Japan, they even have 3-days quota limit which resets upon every 3rd day for something like 10GB to avoid abuse. If you exceed your quota within a 3 days frame, you'll be throttled until 3rd day then reset again even if you're using an unlimited plan.

You can roughly estimate how much a typical user who only uses his plan on the phone would need. Those who says they can hit hundreds of gigabytes or terrabytes monthly are doing something really suspicious which has nothing to do with just their phones.

You can't be watching 4K movies daily or have so much time to download when working.Either they're running torrent seeding servers at home, bitcoin mining or broadcasting content 24/7 live from their homes.

So those on 12- and 24-month CONTRACT plan will cry kaw-kaw... that's why ban/backlist those contract plans...

Average 50mbps can get 20GB of transfer for one hour.

Maxis now feel the pinch from affordable unlimited data plans from other telcos...

Well they also upgraded those on postpaid plans as well...starting june 4...same date as the launch date of these unlimited prepaid plans...most that uses maxis postpaid are on contract plans (device bundle) anyway...so no unlimited plans for them 😆🤭

Yeah it is a really good plan, but i am worry maxis will be really congested.
I am using maxis prime.
Few months ago (before MCO), my mom's house had 18-20m, my house had 80m, and my wife's house had 20m.
After hotlink release the free 20GB for MCO addon, my mom's house has 5m, my house has 20m, and my wife's house has 2m.
After they double the one plan quota, maxis wifi go, now this hotlink unlimited.
I probably need to consider to switch unifi air or digi infinite.

If the telcos offer unlimited data plans with the price less than RM60 per 30 days, sure have speed capped.

If you want faster speed, you better buy the RM45 plan with 6Mbps.

this should ease the congestion on umobile and digi in particular.

unfortunately, not everyone stay at city centre with unblocked buildings etc.

Hotlink can do plan like 30GB unthrottled speed plus unlimited call for RM45 and people will flock to MNP.

In a way it will make sure that nobody will abuse the bandwidth with other crap such as modded modem.

Indeed, alternative is rent/buy a house facing towers within 1km range but not more than 2km.

If hotlink data / signal becomes congested because of this, will it affect normal Maxis postpaid line ? cos that 40gb rm98 looks good also
