Morning test results (HUP35) : ...

Pre-conclusion:
HUP35 can YT 1080P with >30 seconds Readahead. But the device will overheat around after 60 seconds. My current testing device is Sammy Galaxy Note5 Dual.
*
.
So, video-streaming at 1080p/FHD can overheat smartphones after 60 seconds = likely by over-working the fanless smartphones.

Visually, we don't need video quality of > 480p/SD on our smallish 6" screen smartphone = won't overheat the smartphone. Only for larger laptops(= got internal fans), desktop monitors and TVs, do we need, eg well-ventilated(= no overheat problem) 75" TVs require 4k/2160p/UHD.

Some people on Telco Talk stated that they could not accept any video quality < 720p/HD when video-streaming on their smartphones. Their overheated and overworked smartphones likely did not last long.

A HUP user said he is experiencing that the speed has become slow down at certain time of the day where he totally cannot access the internet at all too.

Here is the link:
https://www.soyacincau.com/2020/06/06/maxis...to-5gb-per-day/
*
.
Seems Maxis's AI monitor software detects non-stop d/l of files >5GB (= about 2 hours) as breaking its daily data FUP = abuser is throttled, ie not throttled if do intermittent d/l of files that total >5GB daily. For HUP35/45, is such an abuser throttled for the rest of the 30-days or just for 1 day.? Any idea on the throttled speed.? 128kbps or 64kbps.?

Wonder what is its monthly FUP.? 50GB or 100GB.?

https://www.androidauthority.com/how-much-d...ube-use-964560/ - How much data does YouTube actually use? - June 30, 2019

Streaming a Youtube video at 720p for 1 hour already uses about 2GB of data. For some people who stream a few TV shows daily on their smartphones and can't live without video quality of at least 720p, 50GB per month is not enough.

Personally, video-streaming at 480p is good enough for me = my monthly data use is still about 60GB, ie >50GB.

price already cheap. big allocation of data. after that capped also not too slow. apa lagi mau?

.
TM Unifi Mobile 4G gives truly unlimited data and hotspot to its prepaid Bebas Daily and Bebas Weekly(= RM20) passes at 8Mbps cap, and to its Unifi Air 4G modem plan at around 20Mbps(= costs RM79 per month), ie there is no FUP limit, same like TM Unifi Fiber plans.
....... Why Maxis cannot give truly unlimited data and hotspot to its Hotlink Unlimited Prepaid RM35/RM45 monthly passes, daily and weekly passes.? = because Maxis and other celcos have to pay wholesale prices to the monopoly TM HSBB Fiber for backhaul connections to the world wide web/www for their 4G Internet data phone plans. TM Unifi Mobile no need to pay TM HSBB Fiber. Hence non-TM celcos have to limit the amount of 4G Internet data being used by their customers accordingly, ie less limits for their high-end/premium 4G phone plans.

I think the 50GB per month FUP limit for Maxis HUP35/45 is a bit low. It should be at least 80GB per month, especially for HUP45. Interested parties should complain about this to Maxis.
.

PS - Digi Infinite 150 gives 1TB of data as its FUP limit = Digi pays TM HSBB Fiber about RM130 for 1TB of 4G Internet data = Maxis pays TM HSBB Fiber about RM13 for 100GB of 4G Internet data.(.?)

PPS - Maxis makes >RM1 billion after tax profit yearly = can afford to give more 4G Internet data to its customers. .......

Why do you have extra -RM217 in your postpaid UMobile GX68 account.? That's about 4 months of advance payment to UMobile. If you cancel GX68 now, it may take some weeks to get back your money from UMobile.

QUOTE(!@#$%^ @ Jun 9 2020, 07:30 PM)
technically, 512kbps is unlimited. how to remove the unlimited?
*
.
In the selling of services or products to consumers, there is the "reasonable or fair" consideration for the service or product. In this day and age, using Internet data at 512kbps or 0.5Mbps d/l speed cannot reasonably or fairly be considered as unlimited data. 20 years ago, can la, eg when there was only TM Streamyx fixed copper Internet and no HD video quality, eg unlimited data 384kbps home plans at RM69 per month using CRT monitors.

It is cheating if a business sells a bottle of ordinary tap water to a willing amnesiac rich old person or gullible rich child for RM100, if such a case is taken to court.

A person has to prove that he has suffered a financial loss as the result of the alleged misleading advertisement.

So the question here is, has anyone suffered any financial loss ?

If not, then what is the basis of the complaint?

Just because a person does not like something does not necessarily gives him the right to demand a reprieve or compensation , for financial / emotional loss not realized.

Truly Unlimited Internet.?

https://says.com/my/lifestyle/malaysian-consumer-rights
''''''' Section 10 of the Malaysian Consumer Protection Act 1999 states that it is lawfully wrong to make a false or misleading representation of the goods or services that a person or business organisation sells.

This includes the standard, quality, grade, quantity, grade, quantity and composition of the product or service. ...

1. For products or services that are misleading or falsely represented

Part II of the Consumer Protection 1999 refers to Misleading And Deceptive Conduct, False Representation and Unfair Practice by sellers or business owners. ...

To put it simply, the section talks about any form of advertisement, sales promises that do not hold its end of the bargain. An example can perhaps be a fruit seller that has boards of adverts saying that he sells the freshest produce that is guaranteed to be in good condition but you realise that most of it is rotten after you buy it.

The seller has managed to mislead you into believing that his fruits are in good condition when in truth it isn't. It could either be an honest mistake or one that was done committed knowingly. Business owners who mislead can be fined up to RM250,000.

When faced with situations like this, you can usually speak to the seller and ask for a replacement, but if he or she refuses to comply, then you can drop an email and follow through with TTPM. ...

based on my opinion hotlink didnt did anything wrong in their advertisement, they really give unlimited internet , but there is certain quota for it, u still can surf internet at lower speed after depleted the quota. it is wrong if they say "truly high speed unlimited internet" or "truly 3mbps/6mbps unlimited internet"

same goes to umobile umi (unlimited mobile internet) plan
https://www.u.com.my/plans/prepaid/unlimited-mobile-internet
*
.
In Malaysia, TM Unifi Fiber, Unifi Lite(= Copper) and Unifi Air 4G modem plans are truly unlimited Internet data plans, not Maxis's new HUP35/45 4G phone plans, which are similar to UMobile's "unlimited" mobile internet data prepaid GX30/GX38 4G phone plans.

I believe TM Unifi Mobile prepaid Bebas Weekly RM20 (= RM86 per month) is also truly unlimited Internet . Last year, TM Unifi Mobile had promo for Bebas Weekly RM10 for about 2 months only.

We are debating about the definition of "Truly Unlimited Internet", not about the price of Internet plans. Our Internet connection to the world wide web/www can come from fixed Fiber/Copper cable lines, mobile/wireless 4G, mobile/wireless Satellite, TNB electrical wires, etc.

Yeah. Correct. Hotlink is better in any way than the crappy orange telco that is not even usable despite the unlimited data claimed.

Looking at the amount of attention given to this new hotlink unlimited plan, can easily tell how eager people want to switch to maxis if they have a choice give how inaccessible previously to maxis due to higher price tag. As a contrast, orange telcos has come out with ‘unlimited’ plans for so Long but it does not create much attention while people still prefer to stick to the traditional green, blue or yellow telcos instead as they know how ‘good’ the orange telco is.

Same like there are many find Apple products expensive, if they dun want it, they won’t bother to even comment.

People all want the best things but too bad their wallet depth are not at the best.
*
.
Maxis's new HUP35/45 phone plans got attention only because it is well-known to focus only on the premium/high-end market - same if Apple suddenly sells iPhones for around US$200 each = the low-end market dominated by Android. Why is Maxis suddenly dropping from its high horses to come down to the affordable low-end market.? Not making enough profits.?

Still, Maxis's new "Truly Unlimited Internet" HUP35/45 phone plans with no hotspot quota and with an FUP limit of 50GB per month are no match to UMobile's postpaid GX50 phone plan with 5GB hotspot quota and an FUP limit of 100GB per month. Today, UMobile has > 6 million satisfied subscribers, including myself. To each his own.

Just to add my experience from umobile.

3mbps - normal surfing can la, live streaming nope, will stuck2

6mbps - just nice for live streaming. Hover around 600 to 700 kB/s

For me, hotlink flex so far data wise very good.

Potentially 3mbps also enough for now as my data heavy usage is manga . Nothing to live stream as no sporting events
*
.
Afaik;

All UMobile GX phone plans, including the 3Mbps and 6Mbps ones, presently cap video-streaming to HD/720p/1.6Mbps = can smoothly stream (recorded/non-live) Youtube videos at 720p = can only smoothly livestream-videos at 360p, ie not at 480p or 720p.

Livestreaming requires double the d/l speed of normal video-streaming of recorded/non-live videos.

But if using hotspot data, there is no cap for video-streaming, eg if GX38/6Mbps, can livestream videos at 1080p/FHD.

Only the unlimited Hero P139 phone plan allows up to FHD/1080p/3Mbps video-streaming = can smoothly livestream videos at 720p.
.

PS - Subscribing to a paid VPN service can bypass the video-streaming cap.

So, Maxis, owned by Ananda Krishnan (MIC-linked.?), got seriously financially burnt by investing in 2G/3G/4G mobile services in his homeland of Tamilnadu and India.
