IINM, there are no gear indicators (except for N?) so, if you a beginner, that maybe a letdown, though you can self learn (gear engagement & ratio yada yada) it afterwards. Worry not for the inline 4, you'll enjoy the sound of the inline 4 anytime of the day |

QUOTE(789 @ Jun 30 2019, 02:14 PM) Hi sifu... Otai Otai... sekalian For my opinion, definitely go with the CB650RAny review can share for the new CB650R? Couldn't find any post an post about this bike? Pros ... cons? Thanks MT07 38K, its a good bike, but if compare with the CB650R 42K It has everything MT07 has, but more: eg. 20+ HP, Traction control, inline 4, slightly better build quality, Full LED I dont comment on look and stuff, as it is personal preference. CB650R is a very popular bike because of the Neo Sports Cafe design.
I recently checked at Honda BigWing PJ while surveying the new CBR500R, and was told that the waiting list for CB650R is 2~3 months - that's almost like the popular Yamaha kapchais and scooters. EDIT: Forgot to mention that they had stock for the CBR650R, the fairing-equipped one, but not the CB650R. This post has been edited by blackbox14: Jul 1 2019, 08:58 PM |

Yeah... sound most ppl like it here guess my thought is right. Yes, MT07 abit let down for the price during the review given and CB650R was given a better rate. @blackbox14, didnt know it's a hit selling cake now. U planning to cash buy or ? If loan rate r the rate good? Thanks all =) |

I was looking at the 2019 CBR500R. Now deciding between 500R and Ninja 400 because of their similar performance. Hopefully can buy cash, because I'm not good at negotiating shop loans and they tend to be really expensive. |

I think that offer still exists, but only for the older models up to 2018. When I went and asked about the 2019 models, they didn't even have an OTR price list yet.Another problem I had was that Honda BigWing doesn't accept trade-ins of bikes under 250cc category. I was hoping to trade-in my NMAX 155. |

i'm not really sure how to give a review but i try my best
height : 172cm weight : 84kg years of experience with a bike : 0 Appearance is based on personal view, for me i like it as it's modern and those LEDs are a point plus over others. Handling - pretty good even for a newbie like me and if compared to er6n in JPJ school, the kawasaki felt heavier but of coz it's a learning school's bike so i'm not sure how does a new 1 feels. Odometer - full digital display + gear indication (very important for beginner like me), time, trip A, tank capacity, RPM, speed, engine temp, etc etc Suspension - comfy, expect to hop on some uneven roads but didn't feel a thing (i guess this bike is heavier and doesn't bump up much on uneven road) Tires - no idea yet Clutch & Shift - pretty alright if you understand how to drive a manual car but the engine speed is totally different, the RPM doesnt dip but revs higher after changing gear (feels like auto throttle once you upshift) , adjustment needed on the gear lever to suit 1's preferable angle (for me normal sneakers is ok but once with boot, difficult to up/down as the boots are thicker), releasing is almost 2/3 of the clutch then only it moves, can be changed but up to personal choice. Engine - rev happy and torque is more than enough (imo), i pretty like it as whenever you need to rev, don't really need to downshift to get the power ... traction control, abs as standard. Brakes - sufficient although i haven't do any emergency with it yet, but so far so good. Weighs around 204kg (iirc) and it's pretty bulky (although slimmer from the prev gen) and not easy if you decide to park in head 1st, regardless flat road or not, i always do reverse in as getting out is pretty easier than reversing/pushing the bike (my 1st mistake i went head in and ended up pushing the bike out). One small little compartment, well actually u cant fit anything but a 250ml bottle confirm can. That's all i guess, if any1 got question just post and i will reply, P/s : wherever i go with the bike i'm always on full gear, Mesh Jacket with back pad, chest pad, elbow pad integrated, gloves with sliders, boots, knee and side shin pad, thigh protector and lower back protector, it's quite troublesome and bulky but i guess if you are a beginner better be safe than sorry. |

Good. That bike, while friendly, is still pretty fast and heavy. I don't recommend riding without gears. You could consider getting riding jeans or pants that have protectors in place of the pads though. My question: as a 172cm guy, can you flatfoot the bike on both feet? |

When you are critically injured, you life will be more troublesome. Think about it. It will be too late by the time you regret for not wearing full safety gears. |

Usually will start sweating and swearing before going on the bike but safety is always more important. I'm around the same height as you (171~173) but less physically capable due to illness. Even when using my scooter which is 136kg, I occasionally have to put both feet down to keep the bike upright. Knowing that I can do so on a bike gives me confidence, even though I know the best practice is to put the left foot down and keep the right one on the rear brake. That being said, the real problem is when waddling the bike to park it. If I can't put both feet on the ground, I have a difficult time parking. |

Although i know CBR500R is more suit for newbie like me, but i dont want to regret later and change the higher cc bike unless i am rich (but i am not, hahaha). Need sifu's opinion here.

Have you owned smaller bikes before?Go for the 650R if you can handle the extra price, weight, maintenance and wear & tear costs. Keep in mind that it uses a bit more engine oil because it's a 4 cylinder bike. Since you're new, you won't get tired of it for a long time. Just be mindful of that throttle. However, the best way to know is to testride or at least sit on both bikes for a while. Get whichever one you feel more confident on because once you make the purchase, you will have to live with all the shortcomings of the bike. EDIT: I'm not a sifu-level/otai-level biker or anything, just a regular rider who has made the mistake of buying bikes whose shortcomings I couldn't live with before. So be very, very comfortable with what you're about to spend that much money on, or you will regret it. This post has been edited by blackbox14: Jul 29 2019, 02:49 PM |

Go for 650R if you can afford on financial and physical. Higher CC is not a problem, just put more time to get comfortable with it. DONT SPEED before you know what you doing. My 1st biker also 650cc, no riding experience before that as well. So far no major issue except tired after riding. haha |

Im new rider since last year, previously just ride bicycle. Currently still haven't get my BFull but I'm using Versys650 for daily commute now.
With the feature come with Cb650r, don't think you should worry much. Just make sure u can handle the weight and maintenance |

Do you mean CBR650R?
Nice specs, must buy. Forget CB250R, probably last you 9 months and you'll want to change it already. |

Also viewed some review mentioned 250r is handling very well when come to hill route compare to bigger and heavier bike. If you are really new to bike, might also need to consider things like 1 vs 4 cylinder, cost of maintain in long term, handling and size of both (riding kapzai and sport naked bike in 120km/h is totally different feel.) At the end, still if you can afford cost of ownership of 650, just go for it. Dangerous or not its depends on your right hand and mindset. |

QUOTE(myroy @ Sep 27 2019, 08:37 PM) to be honest touring bike look great, less maintenance but daily ride in KL not that suitable Versys650, I mainly travel around Puchong, Bandar Sunway, Shah Alam, Cheras and Klang. So far still fine. Just heavy when go slow. What bike are you using? I don't speed when traffic jam, so always like blocking whole bunch of kapcai behind me..... Until I got space to let them pass. |

Greetings to cb650r user.
May I know how far cb650r can go full tank for city ride and highway? Currently my daily horse is 2014 xj6n and can last around 260km before blinking for city ride. Thinking to change to newer bike. This or z900rs. |

I’m also contemplating to get myself a new Cbr650r now.
Zero experience with super bike. Got few experienc with scooters in Krabi and Phuket. Will I regret it? And how easy is it to sell off once I get bored of this? |

Shouldn’t be hard to get along with bike with clutch eh. I scared I’ll regret if get a small bike. Always wanted to try out the adrenaline rush of a powerful bike. |

And how easy is it to sell off once I get bored of this? production motorcycle used for fim world sbk championship, those are superbike. should get those if ur dream is to ride a superbike. bucket list ticked.. for this honda 650, the enjin is same as the old one wit abit tweaked to add ~2hp. looks much more nicer with usd fork etc. most will agree it is mild. a newbie with some 'sense' should hv no problem riding it. the riding position is not aggressive compare to racing bikes. |

Kinda like the new CBR650 because of the pricing... but that dim Mars Bar-sized dash looks annoying to me personally.
The new 2020 Z900... now that's a proper dashboard. |

Thank you Karenalvin for the detailed explanation. Yeah I did thought about those. Will mainly use for city commute, but those boxes are nice to have for long distant too. but if i have only one bike and use it to commute, i will probably pick the cb500x over the cb650r simply because i think box and panniers spoil the neo cafe look too much but look right at home on an adventure style bike..... Okay, then I'll stick back to cb500x, just that the temptation of cbr650r is quite overwhelming. Perhaps for future upgrade then. |

I think no wait, previously I ask the Penang BigWing, they say once booking confirm, either loan approve or full cash, within a week can get already.

QUOTE(kambing69 @ Jan 13 2021, 06:54 PM) Last 2 weeks I go back to ask and see the new CBR250R.CBR250R at least need 2~3 months waiting. The sales ppl say for CB650R need to wait about a month after booking. If dont want wait, got one Red display unit. For new 2021 model, he said potential some price hike due to the upgraded equipment, will only know the price during March~April timeframe. |

QUOTE(hakim1994 @ Jan 28 2021, 12:53 PM) wow. almost a year already. Tbh, i took delivery right one day before MCO 1.0 hence i can't really do much long touring on this bike. furthest I've went also Tangkak for lunch. yeah. for lunch and came home. lolOverall, i think it's the top 3 most good looking bike in the 650cc range. I still can't get bored of its looks till today. Power delivery for me, erm, i got used to the torque already and i'm looking forward to the 1litre range already. Tried my friend's Triumph T120, jesus christ. that torque is miles away from my bike. Since this is a 4 cylinder bike, i think there's nothing to fault on. just wished it has more electronics such as cornering abs, selectable traction control, launch control and sorts as what you can find on Aprilla RS660. I remember i took awhile to get used to the riding position when i first took delivery. wrist all numb cause not used to it yet. right now it feels quite natural already. No regrets whatsoever till today. Now just casually take the bike go mamak tapao lunch. good weekend bike nonetheless, titi/frasers/genting all quite syok. Looking forward to Phuket road trip once all these nonsense is over. ![]() This post has been edited by Johannlo: Jan 28 2021, 10:22 PM lowpro liked this post

QUOTE(myroy @ Jan 28 2021, 11:30 PM) My first bike is normal kapcai I generally like bikes with fairing. Not keen with naked bikes in general. I also like adrenaline very much. So as a first bike consideration, I was thoroughly reviewing the top speed vs cost of the bike to find a balance. So far CBR650R has like a sweet spot where it’s quite bang for the bucks. Those super sport class 600cc (zx6r, cbr600rr, r6) are like overpriced for an additional extra 30km/h top speed with uncomfortable riding position. You would only consider that if you frequent Sepang track. While those ninja 650 level are too weak for the price. Additionally CBR650R is the only inline 4 sport bike with 650cc. I don’t like 2 cylinders engine as well cause of the choppy-ness. So it was a no brainer for me. Now waiting end of MCO later will book CB@CBR but I prefer CB650R > CBR650R because of I'm scared later my hands all numb with the seating position. What makes you choose CBR650R compare CB650R? plus this is your 1st bike mind share? Nevertheless, I suggest you take a test ride first if you intent to buy a naked bike. The wind blast you get above 140km/h is really exhausting and torturing. The wind will be pressing your helmet against your head and you’re hanging on to the handlebar of your bike so tight for your life. I rode triumph T120 that day and I got a stiff neck and bodyaches just after 100km of constant cruising of 120-180km/h. As for sport bike, you can duck under the windshield and you get no wind at all even above 200km/h. Imagine 200km/h wind hitting you. That’s stronger than hurricane. And yes, on highways, 150-170km/h is like the normal cruising speed for these kinda bikes. You will be in that range most of the time. |

QUOTE(Dreadlock13 @ Mar 15 2021, 08:31 AM) Not sure... last year KMM stop distribute kawasaki bikes and all related to bike. Plans are under way but no idea when is the announcement of the move from Kawa to Suzuki. I'm happy being a Suzuki owner that the 'former' Kawa people are taking over. They did a great job pushing Kawasaki and I'm pretty sure they will do a good job with Suzuki. The right's now given to modenas. And KMM plan to bring in suzuki bike to malaysia. for those riding CB650R, does it maneuver well during traffic jam..
i am considering this so that I can nimble around traffic easily once all MCO over. Really need those experienced with this model to share the insights. |

QUOTE(Dreadlock13 @ Mar 14 2021, 06:11 PM) I see i see. You need to clear your head, CBR650 and Z900 are two very different bikes. For starters the obvious Horsepower difference, one is 125HP with 98NM of torque the other is a 93Hp with 64 NM of torque. Z900is heavier compared to CBR650, so making it more difficult to cut through the traffic. Not that CBR650 is any better at it but still its easier compared to Z900. Both bikes are loaded with riding nannies, but Z900 is still more raw and its riding experience is more visceral. I would only recommend Z900 if you are an experienced rider, as it could be a very unforgiving machine. Been holding my first big bike purchase since last year. Covid hit cancel all plan. Burned half of the money during that time. Now start building up fund again. Got my eye on z900. But with how kawa is now. The cb650 seem so tempting now. Sabar sabar huhuhuhu On a personal level I find Hondas whole Retro/Modern Cafe look rather confusing, but Z900 doesnt get much points for style as well. Overall you need to ask yourself which one suits your needs and riding style best. QUOTE(Dreadlock13 @ Mar 15 2021, 08:31 AM) Not sure... last year KMM stop distribute kawasaki bikes and all related to bike. I hope there are some more dealers for Suzuki here, but I blame Suzuki for most of there issues. They make amazing quality bikes but they are still using engines from 15 years ago, their styling also looks very dated. Katana is a good edition to their line up, but I wish they update styling for GSX S750. I am seriously considering to buy that one. Fingers crossed. The right's now given to modenas. And KMM plan to bring in suzuki bike to malaysia. Since then no news what happen. QUOTE(redjol @ Mar 15 2021, 11:35 AM) Several reasons, less maintenance, less complicated, more useable power at low rev range with high amount of torque and a nice sounding engine. Of course 4 Cylinders makes the best sound after V-Twins in my opinion but still triples make nice sound. QUOTE(Seas @ Mar 29 2021, 11:38 PM) Its not a tourer, so I dont know why one would want to convert it to one. But I am all ears for this one. This post has been edited by a-y: Mar 30 2021, 12:11 AM |

QUOTE(kambing69 @ Apr 29 2021, 07:29 PM) Thanks.. Before deciding on CB650R, I have test ridden MT09~ while it is a good bike, with torque all over the place even on the highest gear, I am still not motivated enough to proceed on buying it~ last 3 weeks I've test ridden my friend's CB650R, I instantly fallen in love to it~ enough to make me to call BW Setapak and place booking on the next day~ people may say that Yamaha MT has more character, which I don't deny it, but the more refreshed look and the sound of four-inline really get to my heart~ I consider myself as casual rider, so the good quality of Honda and 'tamer' ride is good enough for me~For the question.. it is boring as per it does what it purposely do good. U got there bro. Sabar your dream will be there. I was in similar situation too. I though i can buy it when it was 1st hit the market around 2019 but well financial was kinda hard. . But the wait make it sweater.. Btw what wrong with kawa atm? Actually i been eyeing the new trident but after the test ride well i think i preferred 4inline... cos the bike nochet approved by jpj... unless you test in another country...?? |

Stuck between cb650r and trident 660, on the road price both also 47k. Not sure which 1 to get.
Trident design and look very good Cb650r no need say is like Toyota of bike world Mostly down to maintenance and reliability. Which 1 better in the long run? |

That why i dint want to use the bar end mirror as to put it i need to remove the end bar weight that come from the factory, i tried it before and the vibrations was more noticeable not too much but i dont like it so i change back. Maybe can be dampern using soft grip type. Cant say much bcoz longest ive riden was around 30min. Doesn't feel any discomfort in my arm, wrist or back yet . . So quite comfort i say. QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Jun 1 2021, 12:29 AM) trident vs cb650r. For me because of the brand and triumph was known of its build quality and premium brand too but you really cant go wrong with both bike seriously. Triumph more advanced in electronics such as ride by wire and tft lcd. Cb650r in term of performance and accessories like radial caliper..in term of maintenance, 2nd service can do at 12000km or something? Which will save you a lot of money.what made you choose cb650r and not trident and vice versa.. would like to hear from you guys. Finally got to sit on the cb650 today at big wing. Go to the show room twice and ask a couple of time if any display unit available for viewing. Finally today. 1 bike available waiting for his new owner. It's definitely a comfortable bike. The engine... my god. Lonesync liked this post

Not sure la, but I think major brands hard to get parts, like take between 3 to 8 weeks to arrive at your doorstep. That's before you figure out where to get from, either local agents, or Singapore, or Thailand etc. I'm speaking from experiences for myself and friends, brands in no particular order Yamaha, Kawa, Triumph, BMW, Honda... mang kena punya.

But I can spoil it for you, after you save for so long and the moment after you got the bike, you will feel lost for a while. becoz the goal is achieved you feel like 'now what?'.Beside i already financially strained before. And I gave up half of my bike saving to survive. This time I'll take it easy and no rush. I will buy it when I'm ready. pakram liked this post

QUOTE(lowpro @ Mar 18 2022, 09:41 AM) Yamaha also can be scary if not a Yamaha Kapchai. My friend's Bolt 900 still waiting for part after 2 years... basically, the way i see it, so long bike brands still operate like kapchai bike shop, there is no hope on the big bike after sales maintenance and warranties. |

QUOTE(alexei @ Mar 18 2022, 08:28 AM) bike still function okhonestly despite power cbr150 is really a good bike , santai but the craftmanship, is like craftmanshit i suspect something not fix properly so the meter water damage during rain when i buy this bike (coz low stock) was warn by almost all dealer DONT GO HONDA SPARE PART , even during normal maintainance (wear and tear) can queue for 2 months..... Some experience dealer will call owner earlier like 2 months b4 maintainance schedule to book parts 1st ..... haiz i still go honda ( as i am driving car mostly) because cbr150 red really looked like panigale v4 that look is really worth the price and trouble Quazacolt liked this post

When I even collected my brand new G30 2 years back, I went alone, briefed how to use the car for 15 mins and already left the showroomNo jealous. I got my own bike. Bigger bike. Just trying to emulate how people India collect their new bikes. They have a celebration. If you want one we can organise one. Lol. This post has been edited by kkkw80: Mar 26 2022, 08:34 PM |

If it’s not good, will consider changing to a softer compound tyre maybe from Michelin. I love Michelin tyres |

Put a booking during Big wing Johor Roadshow. Waiting line 4 months. I gave up finding a second hand unit on my 35k budget. So I figure what the hell. I did the bike testing and I'm excited and scared at the same time. 250 was the highest cc bike I rode. This 650 is a different kind of beast. I was about to change my mind and getting the new MT-09.. but i guess this should be enough for me. afiqms liked this post

So my expectation with the CB650 was ..."ok probably similar"... turns out... it's not similar at all. This bike top end is no joke. And I was not prepared. But the down low are tame and friendly unlike the MT. That's my savings grace. Right there I thought "yeah I'm like an old man and this is for me" Thank God I took the bike for testing. QUOTE(myroy @ Sep 1 2022, 12:52 PM) your tzm can 160km/h lock throttle all along the highway? I've tried 20+km 160~170kph at 10+k RPM until bridge ends, speedometer and quite true as calculated with gearingcommander. It is probably a bad idea like you said, and ~150kph would probably be better for the engine. The touring group I go with are friendly folks, only wait at designated points so there's no shame at going slow.normally i heard 2 stroke only can speed for few km not for 100km constant 160km/h, and it will ruin engine but, 210kmh, why scared ah? should be quite stable eh the bike... >>>try wear a bag pack with (2 laptop, 2 charger, 1 ipad).. if no bag should be ok (never tried yet) that's a lot to carry and agree that slower is more comfortable |

I sold my cb650r less than 2 months. Find that it's unsuitable for long distance riding with butt aching, strong wind during high speed, fuel tank capavity small and bike size too small for my height 182cm. Do love the look and finishing of the bike.
Just ordered a Tracer 9GT |

QUOTE(Voopoo @ Sep 2 2022, 02:14 PM) yaka? im 180 and am thinking of upgrading to cb650r from cb250r. you'd be fine with the bigger bikes as long as you accept the fact you wont be able to cilok like a kapchai. would also like tracer 9gt but its too big for city riding lane filtering? generally, lane filtering even bigger bikes should be ok as they will only be about 100-200mm wider than a kapchai only. Again it depends on the roads. The only worry is when you have panniers that stick out further than your handlebars. I have seen people forget they have panniers on and fail to squeeze into a gap. The only limiting factor is our longer than usual wheelbase and higher weight meaning we can't turn as sharply as a kapchai if we need to squeeze between cars and lanes. I mean from your keyword "long distance riding" there already know you might suit for touring bike You can you go to sales gallery to test (depend on the event) Plus many reviewer from youtube said it for town riding, and mybe a bit of fun on the circuit... Cb650R is my 1st big bike, before this just wave 100 and I did tons of research to make sure I did not buy the wrong bike |

Finally I've taken my CB650R for a total of 1600 km trip from Terengganu to Hat Yai. It was a ride under scorching sun but the bike has no problem with it. Enjoy alexei and Nightstalker1993 liked this post

Part 2 is up! Riding from Narathiwat to Pattani province with a lot of military checkpoints. Mobile phone roaming service for Malaysian number is barred too. Ride safe and always be vigilant. The Honda glide through under scorching heat without any sweat

I have tried kawa, now i wanted to try another japanese make. so i think i would be getting the honda cb series instead of kawa already.many have been telling won't regret with this cb bikes. QUOTE(Voopoo @ Oct 11 2023, 02:09 PM) heh, same situation as you i too have made booking for the CB650R and if its discontinued next year...i most prolly will be taking Z900 i understand your situation, for me, it is just a hobby and a weekend bike, for context, i prolly won't do more than 5k in a year, so consumption wise, etc also won't be too much of an issue for me.purpose of the bike is mainly for long distance travelling with minimal vibration at high speed, but the Z900 fuel consumption of 15km/l abit putting me off compared to others that has 21-23km/l and i also heard that it is gonna be discontinued next year, so that's why i also want to get it now. actually this situation is kinda funny for me, i booked with the pj branch, but i went to the new damansara outlet, i put down my name, and following week there's a bike with the colour of my choice there available for me already, cos the previous person who wanted this got his loan rejected. so i am thinking if i get lucky or what. i waited only for 1 week, and i prolly take 1 week to sell my bike, interchange my number plate and make full payment. initially i was also looking at Monster, but for me, it is definitely gonna be a waste and i think cb650r would be more than enough for me already. |

QUOTE(Voopoo @ Oct 11 2023, 03:14 PM) wait what? what color did you choose? and now there's a new bike waiting for you to pick up at the damansara outlet? that's really fast. Yes, the bike is there about 1 hour i put down my name during my first visit, few days later after that, been informed that the guy got his loan rejected, then it went on to the next person and that's me. its really up to you, to me i think if you plan to keep the bike for long then it shouldnt be a problem. reason why i want it is because of its looks, small size (the handlebar is rather short compared to other bikes so easier to filter through traffic) inline 4, and the brand is known for its reliability. I placed booking with the PJ outlet about 2 months ago, but until today, there's no news, no details, no update, no nothing, fed up. Then went to this Damansara outlet, got allocated with a bike in 1 weeks' time. Maybe i'm just lucky. It is a blue matt coloured one by the way, many wanted the red or black. I think i would be keeping the bike for a long time la, most probably won't sell the bike. By the way, is the size really small? cos i'm going from a small bike to this CB650R, dun think it is that small though. QUOTE(Patent @ Oct 11 2023, 04:36 PM) hahaha, that time was on a book first, think later strategy ma. so now is the time to think rationally lo. Actually, i want to get the latest update 2023 version, but knowing boon siew, i am not sure even if the 2023 is coming to our shore, and that the hornet could be coming in to replace this CB650R, that makes it scarce. it's a (relatively) small cc 4 cylinder bike, the torque is not there
if you like the bike for what it is, then keep it that way if you want power, a Monster or Shiver will be more powerful as twin cylinders from my experience, most people will learn, sooner or later, that bigger cc with low cylinder count (2 or 3) makes better bikes |

QUOTE(alexei @ Oct 11 2023, 04:57 PM) it's a (relatively) small cc 4 cylinder bike, the torque is not there i'm new to biking, only been biking for about 1.5 years with just my 125cc bike. going to 900cc, i just sked it would kill me easily. so i decided to go middle first.if you like the bike for what it is, then keep it that way if you want power, a Monster or Shiver will be more powerful as twin cylinders from my experience, most people will learn, sooner or later, that bigger cc with low cylinder count (2 or 3) makes better bikes |

QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 11 2023, 04:56 PM) Yes, the bike is there about 1 hour i put down my name during my first visit, few days later after that, been informed that the guy got his loan rejected, then it went on to the next person and that's me. According to reviews its deceptively small, its a naked bike so you see no fairings, body is middle weight size but its handle bar is shorter than middleweight touring bikes. if you're able to compare a cb250r with a cb650r you'll notice the difference on the handle bars. but body is bigger than the 250.I placed booking with the PJ outlet about 2 months ago, but until today, there's no news, no details, no update, no nothing, fed up. Then went to this Damansara outlet, got allocated with a bike in 1 weeks' time. Maybe i'm just lucky. It is a blue matt coloured one by the way, many wanted the red or black. I think i would be keeping the bike for a long time la, most probably won't sell the bike. By the way, is the size really small? cos i'm going from a small bike to this CB650R, dun think it is that small though. shorter handlebar easier to cilok between cars during traffic jam which is nice QUOTE(alexei @ Oct 11 2023, 04:57 PM) it's a (relatively) small cc 4 cylinder bike, the torque is not there from what i read and asked around on the net, the power is linear, almost similar to a cb300r, i ride a cb250r and i think its quite enough for city ridingif you like the bike for what it is, then keep it that way from my experience, most people will learn, sooner or later, that bigger cc with low cylinder count (2 or 3) makes better bikes why ar lower cylinder count makes better bike? care to share? is it because we get to utilize its full potential of a 2 to 3 cyl bike compared to an inline 4 where the rider has to achieve high rpm for fully utilize an inline 4? ZX25r vs Ninja 250 would be a good example. |

I really like the look of MT-09 V2 rear splash guard. Do you reckon it will fit on my Z250 2022?

I'm riding the cb250r and from all the reviewers, they all mentioned that the cb650r is a beginner friendly middleweight bike and it feels similar to the cb250r/cb300r on the power on low-mid range. I too just started riding alot 1.5 years ago and only got my license 2 years ago and the cb250r is very easy to ride imo, have no bike experience prior to this.yeah, i think being conservative is good. but need to study a bit more about your statement on "a small CC 4cyl is safer than a 2 cyl of equivalent cc". you always poison me to get the z900 instead.... i know that it is a very value buy given the price vs the specs and performance in it. but i have also explained before, since i have had a kawa already, so i wanna try honda, ppl have been saying you won't go wrong with this cb650r, given its reputation of being reliable, just good enough spec and you have more than enough of sheer power delivery to the bike. plus, that this bike has always been in stock starvation for the longgest time, ppl couldn't get their bike even in 12 months, but right now, i have one already waiting for me to register it to be on the road, that's why i am more incline with this cb650r instead of a z900. also, i'm not looking for speed on a bike, it is more of a total package that I could get on it. But the only bad thing is, i haven't test rode a cb650r or equivalent before, (in size, power, etc). Any comment on this? what i understand from this statement "a small CC 4cyl is safer than a 2 cyl of equivalent cc". is that on a 4 cylinder bike, the power on low- mid range is linear (that's the range you will be at most of the time in city riding) and its easy to control but when it hits high rpm that's when the power kicks in and you'll feel the rush but by then you will be expecting the pull. a 2 cylinder bike has power at low to mid range rpm and its torquey, harder to control when riding in the city since when you twist abit it pulls forward faster than a 4 cylinder bike would. Even when cornering, a sudden power increase to the wheel would cause the bike to fish tail. the 2 cylinder MT07 which is branded a hooligan bike, one can do a wheelie easily with that bike due to the power delivery at low end. so a 4 cylinder bike is tamer for a new/beginner rider compared to a 2 cylinder correct me if i'm wrong guys i too am waiting for the CB650R, like it for its 4 cyl, looks and small size. easier to maneuver. I suggest you may try the new Damansara outlet too. like what shyan90 said, you choose the bike based on what you use it for. for twisties and zoomies a torquey 2 cylinder bike will suit you better. for me i only want a comfortable ride at high speeds for long distance riding and in theory, more cylinders = less vibration. I'm not into twisties, or zoomies. just did my 2nd run to thailand last week on my 1 cylinder cb250r, can no longer stand the vibration on such a long trip, so gonna just get the cb650r and stick with it for a long long time. QUOTE(alexei @ Oct 12 2023, 01:15 PM) Ohlins? OMG... this is another can of golden worms that will bleed your wallet dry, and keep leaching wasai, you can be a damn good salesman already. got me interested to know more about itaftermarket suspension kits can transform a bike: you can corner like on rails, it does what you want it to do you can go faster and yet feels you're going slower than before it can make the bike grip better during emergencies it makes the tyres wear out slower yeah mang, so worth it aftermarket upgrade is 6k+ each for those things does things need short periodic maintenance? its not a one time purchase thing? |

QUOTE(shyan90's @ Oct 12 2023, 12:39 PM) haha! your money, your choice. But 650 indeed last masterpiece from Honda. now all change to inline 2 270CP like yamaha... yeah, rumour has it that the hornet will be replacing the cb650r and prolly not gonna come in to our market anymore. if that's the case, then that's gonna be a masterpiece too.My last small capacity bike before my MT07 is RS150...and I have upgrade the MT07 to newer 07.. To me no matter 1 cylinder 690 or 2 cylinder 690 or 4 cylinder 600 all depends how you ride the bike. For me torquey bike is more fun compare to high rev bike..maybe i rarely done long journey but even when long journey i still enjoy my torquey bike... QUOTE(alexei @ Oct 12 2023, 12:54 PM) see this reply from ExCrIpT alright, thanks mate, cb that is. A Harley friend test rode ZX10R in carpark lot, and he exclaimed, "why no power one?" you can get the CB first, it holds value better than a Kawa, just not sure if it will become the next XJ6, the older CBR650F is slowly becoming like that +1 racun ohlins kuat I love the SE spec, worth every penny QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Oct 12 2023, 12:55 PM) I placed my booking with BWPJ since beginning of the year (RED), will pay a visit to the damansara outlet, they have a display bike there as well? they had a display unit for about a week's time until I visited last week and they push it into storage already. hahahalike what shyan90 said, you choose the bike based on what you use it for. for twisties and zoomies a torquey 2 cylinder bike will suit you better. for me i only want a comfortable ride at high speeds for long distance riding and in theory, more cylinders = less vibration. I'm not into twisties, or zoomies. just did my 2nd run to thailand last week on my 1 cylinder cb250r, can no longer stand the vibration on such a long trip, so gonna just get the cb650r and stick with it for a long long time. It's a blue colour by the way. QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 11 2023, 04:56 PM) Yes, the bike is there about 1 hour i put down my name during my first visit, few days later after that, been informed that the guy got his loan rejected, then it went on to the next person and that's me. did you get your bike? if yes share some pics I placed booking with the PJ outlet about 2 months ago, but until today, there's no news, no details, no update, no nothing, fed up. Then went to this Damansara outlet, got allocated with a bike in 1 weeks' time. Maybe i'm just lucky. It is a blue matt coloured one by the way, many wanted the red or black. I think i would be keeping the bike for a long time la, most probably won't sell the bike. This post has been edited by ExCrIpT: Oct 25 2023, 05:22 PM |

Actually not yet, apparently where were some documentation issues which couldnt register the bike (i do interswapping of plate from my old bike).Headlamp looks like CB1000r's. New tail. New air intake. New meter. Wonder if it'll come here. Otherwise, would have gotten it. Now given the just recently launched model, i am thinking if i should wait. but I am also not sure if it will be coming in, if yes, how long from now? 1-2 years time? Any advise? Meanwhile, for the older version, when did Malaysia launch the CB650R after the global launch? could this be the benchmark or a guidance? But it doesn't come with the blue colour i wanted, but i guess i could opt for the grey instead. |

QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Nov 8 2023, 08:05 PM) there's no benchmark or guidance since they have not been bringing in bikes for close to 2 years already. not the same as cars where after a 3 months or so you'll get to drive one back home. Yeah definitely predict some slight price increase. more electronic components, wont be surprised if the price goes up for this version Just don't wanna regret what if the bike comes in like after few months or within a year or so. Likely possible scenario? What would you do if you were in my shoe? |

Only difference is the looks (slightly) and those can be changed if you ever so wish to. And I don't wanna pay more just for some headlamp change which I don't like in the first place. Their e clutch is still new so I am afraid it might not be that good in terms of reliability |

QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Nov 11 2023, 12:24 AM) I rather get the current bike. I prefer the round headlamp rather than the new one. On its look, I think I don't mind both the models design, won't mind the sharper tail light too, but agree with you that it is personal, I don't mind the front headlamp design. Meanwhile on the air intake, I think I prefer the current one too, but to be fair, we haven't seen the new one in real life yet also. Who knows I might like it. Hehe The e clutch doesn't seem like much for me since I don't do zoomies and I kinda like playing with the clutch. And I don't wanna pay more just for some headlamp change which I don't like in the first place. Their e clutch is still new so I am afraid it might not be that good in terms of reliability On e clutch, I think it is kinda interesting one to have and you have the flexibility in terms of whether you want to use the clutch or not. On reliability, I think I can trust Honda that they have put in many hours behind it in making sure it is tested and proven before selling to the mass market. But the one thing that I really like is the new full color tft, which you can't retrofit it on the current bike.... So in terms of availability of the new bike I get mixed response that it would be available by mid next year or another guy told me by the end of next year.... |

2021 Cb650r owner here. I love bike because of 4pot, small in size n the hp it churn out and not forgetting the price. I dislike top down is heavy, my previous z900rs also double disc does not feel as heavy. Anyone can ride straight fast, even corner. Am now learning to better handle the bike by riding slow, to try master full lock at each turn. Not easy, all the utube looks easy but in fact not easy with these bikes. Practise n practise is the only way. Aaronnnnnn and alexei liked this post
