CB650R is a very popular bike because of the Neo Sports Cafe design.

I recently checked at Honda BigWing PJ while surveying the new CBR500R, and was told that the waiting list for CB650R is 2~3 months - that's almost like the popular Yamaha kapchais and scooters. ohmy.gif

EDIT: Forgot to mention that they had stock for the CBR650R, the fairing-equipped one, but not the CB650R.

@blackbox14, didnt know it's a hit selling cake now. U planning to cash buy or ? If loan rate r the rate good?

CB650R is way beyond my budget. I was looking at the 2019 CBR500R. tongue.gif

Now deciding between 500R and Ninja 400 because of their similar performance. Hopefully can buy cash, because I'm not good at negotiating shop loans and they tend to be really expensive.

Last time I went Honda Big Wing they offer me 3.1 P. A for CBR500R with 10k deposit.... Maybe you can ask if still have similar promotional rate.
*
I think that offer still exists, but only for the older models up to 2018. When I went and asked about the 2019 models, they didn't even have an OTR price list yet.

Another problem I had was that Honda BigWing doesn't accept trade-ins of bikes under 250cc category. I was hoping to trade-in my NMAX 155.

Hey, glad to hear you're enjoying your new bike and thanks for the brief review.

Weighs around 204kg (iirc) and it's pretty bulky (although slimmer from the prev gen) and not easy if you decide to park in head 1st, regardless flat road or not, i always do reverse in as getting out is pretty easier than reversing/pushing the bike (my 1st mistake i went head in and ended up pushing the bike out).
*
This is something I need to get used to as well. With my NMAX I can still get away with it to some degree, but once I change to something heavier, there's no room for mistakes.

P/s : wherever i go with the bike i'm always on full gear, Mesh Jacket with back pad, chest pad, elbow pad integrated, gloves with sliders, boots, knee and side shin pad, thigh protector and lower back protector, it's quite troublesome and bulky but i guess if you are a beginner better be safe than sorry.
*
Good. That bike, while friendly, is still pretty fast and heavy. I don't recommend riding without gears. You could consider getting riding jeans or pants that have protectors in place of the pads though.

My question: as a 172cm guy, can you flatfoot the bike on both feet?

with sneakers 85% can, with boots 100% can ... either way flatfoot both feet not a good option as our roads are not that flat afterall, mostly i keep my right leg on the back brakes and left foot on the road while holding the clutch during traffic stops ... that's my way thou, some prefer front brakes and right leg on the road, but now i'm practicing to be at N and be quicker to start after the lights turn green.

I'm around the same height as you (171~173) but less physically capable due to illness. Even when using my scooter which is 136kg, I occasionally have to put both feet down to keep the bike upright. Knowing that I can do so on a bike gives me confidence, even though I know the best practice is to put the left foot down and keep the right one on the rear brake.

That being said, the real problem is when waddling the bike to park it. If I can't put both feet on the ground, I have a difficult time parking.

morning guys, sorry to interrupt the topic here. I am newbie too and looking for my 1st ever big bike and struggling between CBR650R and CBR500R. Although i know CBR500R is more suit for newbie like me, but i dont want to regret later and change the higher cc bike unless i am rich (but i am not, hahaha). Need sifu's opinion here.

Have you owned smaller bikes before?

Go for the 650R if you can handle the extra price, weight, maintenance and wear & tear costs. Keep in mind that it uses a bit more engine oil because it's a 4 cylinder bike. Since you're new, you won't get tired of it for a long time. Just be mindful of that throttle.

However, the best way to know is to testride or at least sit on both bikes for a while. Get whichever one you feel more confident on because once you make the purchase, you will have to live with all the shortcomings of the bike.

EDIT: I'm not a sifu-level/otai-level biker or anything, just a regular rider who has made the mistake of buying bikes whose shortcomings I couldn't live with before. So be very, very comfortable with what you're about to spend that much money on, or you will regret it.

Some of our local lady bikers/motovloggers have also tested the CB650R and CBR650R. They were able to handle it just fine. Search 'MissMMoto' and 'rider helmet pink'.
