Turbo 100Mbps, so I should be getting 10MB/s download speed.
Though yeah voncrane kinda confirmed my suspicion, usually they always say it's "UP TO" 10Mbps, not constant so bye.gif
Afternoon and evening I get worse speed, about 3MB/s to 5MB/s.

I had high hopes when I got the Turbo but ehh, I guess it's still quite a huge improvement since this is quite an old UNIFI package for years.

Q : with 10Mbps/1.25MBps before this, did you get maxed out to the dload speed to 1.xMBps?

Just got Turbo-ed from 10Mbps to 100Mbps about 1.5 week ago.

However everyday when I do the speedtest and download something, the speed is unstable. Sometimes it'll get you as high as 8MB/s (that's the highest peak I've seen so far, but it lasted for only few minutes), and sometimes as low as 2MB/s and I'm the only one using the Internet. So far the stable download speed I'm getting is between 2MB/s to 5MB/s.

Is there a catch there? Like, is it not constantly 10MB/s but "UP" to 10MB/s?
*
100 Mbps = 12.5 MB/s

When I was using 100Mbps getting max speed (and slightly above) was no issue, pretty stable.
Not a fan of torrents though, I mostly use direct downloads with IDM (from sites such as real-debrid)

What router do you use?

This 1 time when I was using a shitty tplink Archer C60 (only has fast ethernet ports) because my WDR 4300 (gigabit) died..
*just happen to have the C60 that time because I bought it to be used as an AP for a project

I noticed I was mostly getting 90+ Mbps on speedtest despite trying with different servers a few times

When my Archer C7 arrived, I was back to easily getting 100Mbps and slightly higher; most of the time 10XMbps, sometimes 11XMbps

I'm using Archer C1200, upgraded from a shitty old router last October.
Instead of IDM, just wondering if you know anything about something like local cache to download from, which will allow us to download at max and highest speed.
I was told by a friend from overseas about it. Even when I download games from Steam (through Singaporean servers) I still get about only 7MB/s.

Nope. But it was upgraded during the 2017 campaign. I guess you could ask to downgrade it if you don't use it. Can save rm30 with one of the regular packages. But I do enjoy my ultimate TV package.

What BTU/ONU (fiber modem) do you have? Does it support Gigabit speeds?

It could be capped at just 100Mbps, which means that you'll never attain the full 100Mbps due to protocol overheads.

My own 100M plan easily surpasses 100M on the speedtest sites, and yours should too. See my signature as an example.

Now looking for 2nd hand Raspberry Pi. Do USB from Tplink AC1200 suffice for powering up?
*
Probably enough, depending on which Pi model. Pi 3 B+ consumes almost 3W under load, while most HDDs consume 2-2.7W.

having experienced unifi levels of speeds.. from 10 to 800mbps...

i can attest to full 100mbps or 12.5MBps for 100mbps - ethernet or wifi.

check y r router, cables, device.

and try using diff router and devices.

most of the time, it's your device that's lacking - this is what every other post or thread is about now! tongue.gif

Are there 2nd Raspberry Pis? I've looked for a few before, but there's barely price difference between selling used and new.

Are you planning to power the Pi via the USB port on AC1200? It could work i suppose. AC1200 is USB 2.0, so, should be able to deliver a max of 500mA [according to standard spec]. Rpis power consumption table here.

EDIT: I did some searching. It may or may not work, ymmv. These links are old but there's some info there. Link 1. Link 2. Link 3.

I'm not sure if there's a local steam cache setup for a community or the like. But a while back, I found this.

If for caching for multiple people in the same house, the earlier link would work but this could be faster. Btw, I've didn't try these as I rarely play on steam.

Beware, It's their trick to trap customers for another 2 years. Even the name of this deal is called "retention year end". They want to write good annual report to convince the stockholders that they have a lot of handcuffed customers, and are less likely will be terminating soon within 2 hears time since penalty tee RM500 incurs. Trust me, they are eager to do that.

By the way, this rm10 thing is also the one of the root cause of non-uniform pricing scheme that u see frequently here on his thread. For exact same set of value [internet, tv and call plan each], there exists various pricing.

In my opinion, it's better not to take if your commitment period ended long ago, I sugggest u put up with TM in the meantime, unless u r a new sign up which u still have at least 20 months remainder left of compulsary jail term, then it's worth it for u. I prefer price reduction while retaining my current set of value, instead of adding value, im not a heavy user anyway, even 50M is more than enuf for me. Those extra bandwidth i only "want" it, i dont "need" them anyway...

Edit: one more thing, im also entitled to it, but totally have no idea how what's the selection criteria for th eRM10 upgrade. Not users get it, some are not eligible, when confronted about how TM handpick eligible subscribers, they always chose to keep things shady

Just to be sure, can you even get consistent 100Mbps on speedtest.net or tm's version of speedtest?

My Unifi 500mbps has speed test of 500mbps.

But one weird thing, Ookla or tm speed test can reach that, but when loading webpages, video, pictures or any media content, it takes long time to load and couldn't figure out why.

I have reset the router, changes dns to google dns then changed back...but still no hope.

Anyone experience the same issue?
