a brief "report"... for those interested...
.. live chat 12 days ago.. asked why i as long time customer 100mbps not turboed yet. .. was told priority for houses; others wait till sep 2019. .. i said to the staff... "i live in a house". .. she made report to "escalate". .. today, got turboed, received sms. .. but can't get 800 with LAN; only 6xx with TPlink1200; 5xx with asus rtac1300uhp; UL 20x ok. .. will do more tests, report and see what they can do. paying rm179 with STD20, ultimate. |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Nov 5 2018, 11:49 PM) Hard to get 800Mbps on those two routers. It is probably capped by the router's hardware. You need a router with better hardware. really? i thought these 2 shud be ok...?Another thing could be that the Spectre mitigations is affecting your speed. Try doing speed test in safe mode with networking. from page1: The router that is provided by TM for recent installations is usually TP-Link C1200 v1 (Pic), or D-Link DIR-850L (Pic), and more recently for new installations, the D-Link DIR-842 (Pic). All these router will be able to support gigabit speed (up to 1000Mbps) via WIRED connection ONLY. i called them was told the tplink can do - they will send someone to check, and show me! i am curious what i am missing... |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Nov 6 2018, 08:56 AM) It should be okay, but as I wrote in my post, it is either the hardware or the router or PC that is limiting your speed. Theoretically it should be okay, but real life not really. i read some people suggesting use of 20mghz? or was it 80mghz?this is for wifi, not LAN, right? any router setting u can suggest to check and try? i am ok with wifi, accept it, just not satisfied with <700mbps for LAN. |

QUOTE(Doraku @ Nov 6 2018, 11:53 AM) Its MHz* not mghz, Anyway Using shorter channel width may/can reduce wifi interference and may improve stability(Depending on situation*) But that will reduce your wifi speed and bandwidth by half (Depending on channel width size) i Recommend using wifi analyzer first before Changing wifi settings ah yes... mhz, not mghz! |

QUOTE(malaysianbest @ Nov 6 2018, 12:45 PM) Is tm unifi throttling my speed ? when i try to download a file larger than 40GB then my speed suddenly slow and sometimes less than 1 mbps but if file less than that its fine. likely just poor seeds.big or small files, i get up to 20MB/s. dunno if that is the cap... somebody also reported 20 or 25 limit, am i right? |

QUOTE(masnoob @ Nov 6 2018, 05:53 PM) Have a question here, been a long time 100Mbps unifi user. Since they announced that existing user will have an upgrade (mine will be 800Mbps) but I still did not receives any updates. My question is does the turbo upgrade require binding to a 2 year contract? Do I have any other choices since I would prefer staying at 100Mbps speed. if u r out of contract now, u can go change contract to rm129 100mbps... save money. Thanks if u hv been reading here, many have already done that, i think. |

QUOTE(PoorMan @ Nov 6 2018, 09:21 PM) I was surfing some unifi sites (not sure why so many?) and came across this (www.unifi.co). it is official. they have said if u sign up before dec 31, u get turbo "in 2019".The advanced 30Mbps @ RM139 is still eligible for turbo i.e. 300Mbps later? But this is without STD20. Is this an official package? 300, 500, 800 packages are not available right now. but everyone knows they will be available when more less all existing have been turboed. the question is what prices then. |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Nov 5 2018, 11:49 PM) Hard to get 800Mbps on those two routers. It is probably capped by the router's hardware. You need a router with better hardware. update...!unifi guys came, tests... tplink ac1200 can do 800-820mbps - with his laptop. i think i couldnt get becos the device i used rated giga maxed out at 650. i have no other device with gigaport for LAN. the guys were nice, change the router to dlink dir842 (he took back the tplink) - this one also did 820, wifi a bit stronger. so... when somebody says he/she can't get 800mbps LAN, first question gotta be "what device"! btw, do u know if this dir842 can serve as repeater or AP? just thinking longer term how to make use of this dlink 842 and my asus 1300uhp.
