Hi, to perform direct connection to ONU. You must get your PPPoE details ready and connect to ONU from Laptop bypass the router and see whether you can get speed.

Check your link speed on your laptop as bro wirelessbuyer mentioned.

Do let me know if you need further assistances.
Downgrade from which plan to which plan?

Thanks

I've set it to Auto but nothing has changed. The Link Speed (Receive/Transmit) in my network properties is showing 100/100 (Mbps). Does that mean I can't go any higher? Any idea what would be the cause or how I can bypass that? My apologies for all the questions.

Or could you try to change it to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex? See whether it helps?

Another thing you can try is to use other cat 5e or above LAN cable. This happen to me before where fake cat 5e (which is cat 5) limit my network speed to 100Mbps instead of 1.0Gbps

I've tried the 1.0Gbps option earlier as well. No luck.

I got this new Cat6 cable recently from IdealTech. Are they not a trustworthy seller? I'll have to source for a new cable again then as I only have an old Cat5 cable I was using before. Are there any recommended places/sellers I can seek out for the cable? Am just worried I might get conned haha...

Usually in the router box, they will provide you with a free cat 5e cable or above. You can use that to perform the test.

Ah right, it's really really short though haha. Am actually using a desktop and it's all the way in my room. I'll test that out in a bit, though. Thanks a lot man! I'll update again in case it doesn't quite work. sweat.gif

Did you try checking your router to see if the WAN port is set to 1000Mbps instead of 100Mbps or Auto? Check that under ‘Settings’, then ‘Network’, and ‘Advanced Settings’, ‘WAN port speed’.

Your C1200 can perform well on 100Mbps line as it is up to 300Mbps over Wi-Fi.

Thanks.

Still no luck unfortunately. I managed to snag a Cat5e cable from a friend to test against my newly bought Cat6 but same results. Still stuck on 100/100Mbps link speed.

I'm not sure if it's possible but could it be due to my mobo's LAN port being faulty?

You have to test with another PC to know for sure.

How about checking your bios? Is the lan speed in auto or full?

Today, I am finally a part of Time Fibre Home Broadband family. After 10 years with TM, from Streamyx 1 Mbps to Unifi 5 Mbps and finally Unifi 10 Mbps. Got it installed today and I am glad that finally made the move.

Thank you to @yeapch01 for helping with the registration and finally installation. Looking forward to learn stuff from everyone in this thread rclxm9.gif

Guys I've been searching for my bottleneck and I think I've found it. Before this I changed my ethernet adapter to a USB-C one and switched all cables to CAT 7 but the speed difference was marginal.

My bottleneck was Kaspersky. Was using Kaspersky Internet Security 2019 before this and my speed averaged around 650-700Mbps download. Switched to Bitdefender Total Security 2019 and these are my results:

Bitdefender enabled with Bitdefender Firewall
Speedtest: 818Mbps down 496Mbps up
Fast: 1.1Gbps down 480Mbps up

Bitdefender enabled with Windows Firewall
Speedtest: 806Mbps down 495Mbps up
Fast: 1.2Gbps down 470Mbps up

Bitdefender enabled with no firewall
Speedtest: 804Mbps down 500Mbps up
Fast: 1.1Gbps down 500Mbps up

Bitdefender disabled with no firewall
Speedtest: 786Mbps down 499Mbps up
Fast: 1.1Gbps down 460Mbps up

Note: All Speedtest tests were using TIME Shah Alam server

Your results may vary, if you see the previous pages I posted my iperf results and the max transfer speed I got was around 900Mbps so getting 818Mbps download is alright for now. So if you're using Kaspersky and experiencing slow speeds then can give Bitdefender a shot, let me know if it works/doesn't work for you biggrin.gif

THIS, couldn't stress this enough. Good find.

Same thing from the router side. Enabling additional features like Antivirus, QoS, browsing history and etc will impact the maximum capable speed.

Forget unifi man. If Time is available at your place, just subscribe it. Unless you want to retain hypptv. Yes, it's stable.

Tested via LAN Cable?
Which router that you're using?
Is your PCs capable of getting speed above 100Mbps?
The link speed must be 1Gbps.

TIME don't practice website block. May I know which website that you want to access? I can check for you.

Of course TIME is better than Unifi and Maxis.
TIME is more stable and have symmetrical speed except for the 1Gbps plan as the upload speed is only 500Mbps.
TIME is using own infra and using 100% Fibre.

Thanks.

Hi,

Precheck the followings first :
1) Router WAN & LAN port are both Gigabit (1000Mbps)
2) Use good quality Cat5e/Cat6 network cable
3) Use a computer that has Gigabit network port
4) Test it via TIME speedtest server (speed.time.com.my) with cable.

Btw, which router are you using ?

Thanks.
*
thanks for reply bro..
im using the free router from Time (DIR 850 - not sure correct name or not) the round shape one.

i agree using right item that may help boosting the speed.
but now im comparing apple to apple. 100mbps and 500mpbs.. base on the same set up.
