Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen. One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. And so intelligent it can respond to a tap, your voice, and even a glance. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality. Say hello to the future.

I was excited before to trade my x to xs max but after i’ve seen the geekbench4 result 4.7k vs 4.2, 11k vs 10.1k its a small leap imo and nah i will pass and waiting ip11.

Definitely not worth upgrading from X to Xs unless you go big with the Xs Max smile.gif

welp i decided to stay with my iphone x for another year. will probably upgrade on the next iphone.

as for the battery life, well mine is around 7 months and its on 95% battery health. used to play games for hours and the game really battery and graphic demanding. As i noticed the battery health kindda depleted, i shorten my gameplay to like 15 minutes max.

as for charging, i only charge when it hits 20% and below. been doing that since iphone 3g and usually i will charge my phone once a day.

Should be okay to sustain for another year. I have a similar pattern as you, minus the gaming part.

95% is still at peak health.

Most reviews also think that the Xs is not for owners of X, battery performance only marginally better. Might as well just pay RM129 to get your battery replaced before 2019.

The only reason why I had never consider the X is solely due to it's display size - at 5.8 visually it looks smaller than 5.5 on my ip8+. And only reason why I am considering the XR is it's bigger display . But I would need to see the actual resolution b4 buying it.

Dear all Sifus , I have some serious doubts about the "imported set" iPhone X and hope u guys will delighted me.

1. Carosell selling X 256gb as low as 3500, sealed , is it trustable ?
2. Realised US set have "unlocked sim free" , I thought us set need a turbo sim ?
3. Will able to resell in the future ? Due to imported set .
4. They said will give 1 year apple warraty , can really claim here ?

Currently , MY used 64gb is 3.2k but new us 256gb is only 3.5 , I just want to buy and use for few months experience only.

Seriously can’t comment but they will be risk. Anyway a lot of ppl thought sealed is really new but actually just use machine to seal only. It’s kind of “feel good” only.
US got both lock and sim free type.
Why can’t sell?
Yes 100% can claim.

If just want to experience for few month then take second hand with warranty that when u sell, it still cover.
Unless trustworthy if u want take 256. That’s always a risk there.

Unsurprisingly so. The X may be last year’s phone but it’s still ahead of most of this year’s SD845 powered phones

FOund this MWC selling new locked set for RM3.7k 256GB with 1 yr local Apple warranty.. Tempting, only prob according to them is i can't simply swap sim card due to turbo sim but updating ios etc all BAU

If need to swap sim for whatever reason, need to reset back the turbo sim

If still got few months warranty then it's probably a good buy if you have no intentions to update to a Xs Max.

You can check for iPhone warranty online via apple check warranty website. If it is still under warranty, you can have it serviced in apple MY.

Spotted by DPreview, a large number of iPhone owners (particularly iPhone X) have reported iOS 12 significantly degrades the quality of their displays. Specifically poor contrast levels, unbalanced colours and overexposed black levels. And this has a dangerous side effect.

Not really noticed this on my phone. I've been using iOS12 since public beta 5 or so.

Any way to check if affected?

I just realized that their Zerolution plan now getting expensive than last time? Or am I wrong?

Previous Zerolution Plan 188 for 64gb is RM134, now the same is RM144 🤔🤔🤔🤔

YES, it is just like EPP, for extra protection, RM40+ a month need to pay separately

imagine:-
MOP128 RM128
monthly ipx 256GB ~RM170 x 24months
for protection ~RM40 x 24months

AND worst, no annual upgrade given lol... is like buying with installment

The phone price on normal contract has been reduced though, so it's definitely a better choice over Zerolution!

Well it makes no sense to keep the X seeing how the Xs is a very minor incremental upgrade over it. So once they've depleted the stocks of the X, customers are kinda forced to go with the Xs if they want the smaller size. smile.gif

If still got few months warranty then it's probably a good buy if you have no intentions to update to a Xs Max.
*
true, it still has another 7 months warranty left so no harm getting that plus 3.3k for 256gb quite a good buy. gonna meet the seller later this evening biggrin.gif

no intention to upgrade to XS or XS Max due to the hefty price tag.

Also, does anyone of ipx owner here experience any screen burn in? Is it covered by warranty? thanks in advance guys!

The Xs is not a much better upgrade over the X, so it's definitely a good buy now, unless you need a bigger screen and bigger battery then you'll need to get the Xs Max.

My wife's iPhone X (which was mine previously) is about 7 months old, no screen burn in. But I'm sure if there is, it'll be covered under warranty.

Ya, I noticed your post, good deal for your buyer thumbup.gif

I sold my 8+ last month at 2900 which was lucky before Apple cut the price to RM3299...

Trying to get a good bargain for X but like you said the listings are still pretty high here... I'm a bit hesitant about parting with 3.5k for a 2nd hand phone with warranty running out laugh.gif

Haha, if byyyz doesn't want the deal I'll want it too!

Ooopps, im on my way to collect it haha rclxm9.gif

Anyway, it's still going down when XS and XS Max is readily available in Malaysia. Maybe 3k to 3.3k, or less will be the norm by that time, first time seeing an iphone model value dropped that much.

True, but then again, once the new stocks of X is depleted, your X becomes a limited edition since it has been discontinued from production. Maybe can still fetch a good price.

Had this dilemma when I wanted to move from android to ios late last year. It was either pay for migration tool or lose everything.

In the end I used the ‘email chat’ feature in WhatsApp to send chat history and attachments for around 15 critical contacts to my email account. Can easily refer back to them now.

Actually if you guys have a US unlocked/sim free set chances are you guys got the A1865 model which is technically “superior” than the A1901 model (Malaysia sets). The A1865 model supports the same number of networks and bands as the A1901 model with the addition of CDMA. The A1865, according to tests have a better modem as well compared to the A1901. (Qualcomm vs Intel).

In short there should not be any problems at all with local telcos and their networks, even if you use an iPhone X from Botswana or Nigeria or South Africa etc and vice versa.

iPhones are now global phones. In the past yes, iPhones from different countries or regions support different bands and stuff but not anymore.

No issue as long as your iPhone is factory unlocked/sim free. You can go check at the Malaysia warranty coverage page from Apple. As long as your warranty details appear there when you check, there will be no problems claiming warranty here.

the lightweightness of the phone...ichiban!
*
I got the same deal as well when I bought my second 256GB X. RM3899 with RM150 tech voucher = RM3749 for the 256GB X. I previously bought one on shopee for RM3899 a couple weeks back before 11st had this deal.

Best deal ever.

You get the A1865 model with the Qualcomm modem, its brand new and a fresh 1 year warranty. Some second hand sets are going for even higher price than this.

I was previously using the 8 Plus and planned to upgrade to the Xs but after trying my friend's Xs and compared to my gf's X I immediately pulled the trigger.

Seriously if you have an X the Xs is just a complete waste of money. I felt no difference at all and all the so-called "improvements" are unnoticeable unless you look for them and test both side by side, such as slightly quicker loading on more intensive apps and just a fraction of a second quicker face ID unlock.

The only way to go from the X is the Xs Max if you are looking to upgrade. For me the ease of one handed operation is a must so the Xs Max was a no go. I could barely use the 8 Plus with one hand, now with the extended screen estate top and bottom, gg.

Agree with the lightweightness thumbup.gif

Its ok bro, hence in my post "superior" in inverted commas lol

You probably won't feel any difference in real world usage.

Bottomline is you shouldn't worry too much about US set or SG set or HK set or Thai set or Aus set or whatever set. As long as its factory unlocked you can use it no problems anywhere in the world including Malaysia because their all the same already.

A lot of people still have the old misconception that iPhones sold in different parts of the world are still made differently supporting different bands etc and will face network issues with local telcos or local networks.

Your A1901 US set is no different than any MY set out there.

Ya bro, original. I only charged a few times using iPad charger, thats all. Other than that using original stock charger. Really minor gaming roughly about 5% of the phone life, been using the phone since february. Sigh. I think i need to do fresh update. Will update using itunes this weekend and see if there is any difference. sweat.gif

you can also check out the review of the seller before deciding.
Gen Y IT Network is the seller i purchaase from - just dont get the hybrid, or turbo sim unlock which is even cheaper. this you will encounter issue if you reset the phone.

That’s what the price level of X should have been from the start. 3.3k instead of 5.8k for a non-plus iphone 😑...

I'm still not sold on the AirPods yet though... But at RM649 now (or cheaper, sometimes) it's more reasonable compared to the launch price of RM849...

If you're referring to the issue whereby the iPhone X modem network speed is slower compared to other Android phones with Qualcomm modems then yes, it's true. But it's not that significant in real life use. Other than that, no issues either on WiFi or on 4G.

Used my iPhone X for 3 months or so and now my wife is using it. We're both on maxis and we don't have this issue.

Did you restart your phone recently? I noticed it happens but after a while (a few days or so) it'll drop back again.

i saw that review also, so i did check the warranty if it has started at the point of collection
from my understanding, refurbished phone can't be a full year warranty.
also, they have been quite a while in 11 St.

if i do find out i got cheated, i am very sure will make it known here and the seller...hehehe.

those who purchased and all can always share their experience here to protect each others... i do compare my phone with my friends to see what is the diff, especially display.

Bought a unit from Gen Y. Definitely a steal for a 256GB iPhone X. Works well with local telco and confirm that the model is a1865. That is the same model as the local unit. I opted for self pickup and warranty activated on the same day. Do check it out.

I had the same problem. Not sure this can help but this is what I did cos after restoring from iCloud , iPhone 7 > iPhone X, it was buggy. Spotlight search and Siri and search was missing.

I did a factory reset and it’s normal now... spotlight search in setting is working and Siri and search is back...hope this helps

Received iPhone X 256GB from Gen Y IT today. Check warranty online, started yesterday. Super excited.

Does anyone know if I purchase the extended warranty, is it valid in Malaysia too?

You used the stock adapter? If yes, then yeah, that's pretty normal. If you have an iPad adapter that will help immensely, otherwise get a USB-C PD adapter and a lightning to USB C cable.

I think a higher output (2.0A) will definitely be better than the stock adapter's 1.0A, but have no idea if using a third party one like Pineng is OK. You can try though, I think it should be fine.

i totally never use the stock charger at all, use only ipad charger or any other 2.0A wall charger.

Can our phone battery cope with it? Because it supposes to be small input. Now not only double.

You used the stock adapter? If yes, then yeah, that's pretty normal. If you have an iPad adapter that will help immensely, otherwise get a USB-C PD adapter and a lightning to USB C cable.

There was a promo by Switch recently, whereby you get a free USB C-Lightning cable when you buy the adapter, but it sold out pretty quickly too!

RM189.. Good deal huh?

https://switch.com.my/2018/30w-usbc-poweradapter/

Unfortunately, promo over already. I would have gone for it except I already have a USB-C to lightning and a third party USB C PD adapter.

Has anyone compared the battery life difference on their X on iOS 11.4.1 and 12?

I clean-installed iOS 12 on my X and used it for about 10 days. Noted the faster depletion of battery. Not terribly fast, but still noticeably faster.

So I downgraded it back to 11.4.1 while Apple is still signing it. Again, a clean install of iOS 11.4.1 and with the same apps and settings and same usage pattern. The battery really lasted longer.

I backed-up everything on iTunes before updating to iOS 12 and then setup as new phone. When I downgraded to 11.4.1 and tried restoring, error popped up saying that 11.4.1 on my X was "too old" to restore the back-up doh.gif

So, in the end had to set up the phone as new again after restoring 11.4.1.

And running the phone on 11.4.1 and 12 as 'new phones' made the battery life difference very obvious.

Satisfied with the downgrade back to 11.4.1. Will probably leave it that way and not going 12 unless there is a real need or new feature.

I thought im the only one who noticed this. I will definitely restore back to iOS 11.4.1 today. iOS 12 battery life is really bad. Im beginning to think Apple purposely "did" that so that people will buy the XS. sweat.gif

I have failed to restore from my 11.4.1 “backup” eventhough I have downgraded to 11.4.1 on my X. So, I don’t dare to say more.

Time-consuming for sure to set-up the phone all over again. But the only backup I need restored is my Whatsapp messages. There was no problem to restore my Whatsapp as I have a separate backup in iCloud.

My brand new iPhone X Face ID isn’t working. Error pop up keeps saying Face ID isn’t available, try again later. Tried all software resets and still the same. Sent in to Apple service today. Haih....so much for Apple products quality control.

Now almost everything can be backed up via icloud, when you log in on ios11.4, can all the stock apps history like photos and contacts downloaded automatically? I assume whatsapp has no such issue.

hi guys. newbie in iphones here. thinking of buying the X but not sure to jump in now or wait for the XR. plus, do most telcos discontinue the previous model right after the new one goes on sale? i'm a little bit worried maxis will stop selling the X cos i'm looking to get it next month.

Once the stocks of the X is finished, all telcos including maxis will stop selling it as Apple has discontinued the production of the X. You can check at maxis website for availability.

Aside from the new A12 chip and bigger battery capacity in the Xr, the X is a superior phone to the Xr and is still a good buy given the recent price cut. Up to you to decide smile.gif

I don't believe much in protection plans coz I think it's crazily overpriced here but if you think it's a good deal then of course you may go for it. I'd rather buy the phone on a cheaper deal and then get a good case and tempered glass for protection instead.

Covers theft, accidental damage, etc. Basically almost "all risk" is covered.
You can ask an agent friend if you have.

Hi guys, for those who have sent in their device for repair/replacement, in reality how long does the apple centre take to return the phone? They told me 5-7 working days as they need to send it to Singapore repair centre. Appreciate some feedback on this. Thanks guys.

Last time I sent my phone for repair (internal problem), took them less than a week. Called me on the 4th working day to go collect.

Like @ZenXL said, we are itchy hand. So I will upgrade my Apple Watch Series Zero this year instead...hehehe

Lucky to have downgraded back to 11.4.1 before the lock by Apple. Happy with this battery life on my X based on my typical usage pattern.

iOS Whatsapp only can restore from backup in iCloud.

Transferring from Android Whatsapp to iOS Whatsapp requires paid expensive desktop app. Even so, the results only hit and miss.

There is no way to transfer the WhatsApp backup from Android to iOS after they implemented the end to end encryption. But you can use backuptrans android WhatsApp to iOS transfer to transfer it over. There will be a license for three different devices after purchase and I still have one to let go to share out the cost

How old is your phone? Mine dropped to 98% after 8 months (with 140 charge cycles) of use. After updated to 12.0 and reverted back to 11.4.1, it increased back to 99%. So, it is not 100% accurate.

Can use the desktop app "coconut battery" (macOS, not sure Windows) to check the charge cycles.

Still possible. You still use the same private key as long as you hold the same phone number. Backuptrans will download the messages to store locally first and then sync with iCloud/GDrive again.

The battery experts claim that you should keep your charge level between 20%-80% to maximize your battery longevity - but I prefer to charge it to full every time.

I notice my iPhone X GPS signal is damn lousy. Always no signal especially when i am using Waze (notice that Google Maps is slightly better). Complaint to Apple many times, they keep asking me to wait for new iOS updates and that should fix it. I am now on iOS 12.0.1 still same problem. Maybe slightly better.

At first I thought is the area that I am always in having bad signal, but when i pull my old 7 Plus out at the same time, GPS detected quick and no issue. I think the GPS chipset in iPhone X is kinda lousy for my set. Mine is the first batch from Singapore.

Same here laugh.gif

I’m quite certain charging to full every time will shorten your battery lifespan, but I think you’ll probably only see the degradation after a year or two, which is OK for me.

Should I stop at 99%?
*
it doesnt work that way. if u lets say from 50% charge till 99% and used, then at 48% u charge till 99% again. That is 49% + 51% = 100% (1 cycle). It keeps accumulating.
To stop cycle from increasing, stop charging your phone smile.gif

I must see 100% everyday! Do you think overcharged will also cause drop of battery health in faster way?

My suggestion is not to worry so much about this. Charge and use as you like and then replace batt or phone when the time comes.

Yes. Just enjoy the phone. When it is time to change, you just change la. There are too many things in life we need to get ourselves worried. But phone shouldn’t be one of them.

exactly! my phone i also anyhow charged, died on me last month, after using for ~10 months, refused to take charge anymore. RMA back to Apple, now the new refurbished unit i also anyhow charge. time is too precious to worry about phone battery health.

I bought something off Senheng Online a while back, and the customer service was quite horrendous, no replies or help offered when asking for tracking status. So much so I’ve never bought anything online from them again. Not sure if they have improved since. I do enjoy buying from their retail outlet though. Most of the time the staff who serve me are courteous, friendly and very helpful!

Aww snap, i've just bought iPhone X from their online store since a lot of other official store is out of stock and doesn't provide an installment plan. I'm going for huge upgrade from iPhone 5s to X. Today is day 2 after online transaction, still no news. I think i will be calling them for inquiry tomorrow. I hope my fate is not like yours as they mentioned that 2-7 working days.

My item did get delivered within that timeframe as well bro, so don't worry, the deal is legit. Just that I've been used to getting regular updates on purchases and deliveries from other online platforms, I find Senheng's online service (or rather lack of it) to be a turn off.

Do let me know how it goes with yours ya, keen to know if they've improved.

X over Xr

- Screen quality - OLED vs LCD, Sharper resolution
- Design - Stainless Steel vs aluminum frame
- Camera (??) - dual rear camera, but Xr has improvements under the hood

Xr over X

- Screen size - 6.1 vs 5.8
- Battery life
- Processor
- Those nice, pretty colors!

Yeah, buying for gf. I was thinking X would be better since what matters is the looks are similar and camera is better? But probably don't have the latest image processing and processor (but the major improvement is on graphics anyway)

I would choose the Xr instead of X, bcos the processor is better and the camera also has more features although only single lens.

I'm also wondering if it's worth to switch my wife's X or to hold another year. Maybe wait for the reviews and real life photo samples before deciding. But then again, it's an iPhone. It won't take bad photos.

True, but if it looks the same as the regular iPhone 8 screen (coz same PPI), I think it'll be OK.

Yeah, thats the draw for me too, the promise of a better battery life!

It's considered as "fast enough" charging, but certainly not the fastest.

thanks for the info. looking at the chart, i think i'm quite satisfied with my current 12w adapter. since it does 'fast enough' charging. and seems like anything above 18w is just a waste. so no point to get a 3rd party adapter for now.

Hi everyone,

My battery health maximum capacity is 88% and I have been experiencing issues with my phone battery whereby the phone will auto shut down eventough the battery is 50%. When try to on the phone says battery Low and when you plug in the charger it goes back to 50% over.

I have updated to the latest iOS and issue still persists.

According to Apple, they will only replace the battery of the battery capacity is below 80% and since my iPhone warranty is expiring in Dec, I have log a case with Apple support and their advisor has approved for FOC battery replacement as the phone warranty is still valid and has created an exception casefor the battery to be replaced eventough the battery capacity is 88% and looking at the nature of the issue, advisor supported my case and gave a go ahead approval and case number.

The reason why I contacted Apple
Support and raise and exception ticket coz knowing our Apple authorised support centre in MY, they will taichi and not change your battery and yet bill you under battery replacement programme eventough the phone is under warranty and with the exception approval given by Apple, they will have no choice but to force replace it on Apple’s Cost.

Do you guys know which Apple centre in KL has stock for iPhone X battery and can replace the battery in less than 4 hours based on experience?

You could try Machines' service center at Northpoint, Midvalley, but best to check if they have existing stocks of the battery.

Have you checked if it is indeed just a battery problem, and not anything else like the motherboard?

Yes I have confirmed it’s purely battery problem as Apple Advisors has run remotely hardware diagnosis test and it’s piinting the fault to the battery.

Since my warranty is expiring in Dec, thought of only changing the battery early December as I have the Apple case I’d exception approval 😬😬 as I can still use my phone but the only thing is my battery drains fast with minimal usage but I have powerbank with me.

my battery drop from 99 to 96 overnight around 7 hours of standby. Normal?

And I find that my battery seems to drop faster than last time. Same usage as always. Battery health is still at 98% though..

Price already dropped. Official RRP is now RM4299 for 64GB and RM4999 for 256GB. I guess street price could be lower. However the phone has been officially discontinued, so stock availability may be an issue.

Iphone X with ios 12 can blow up the font size?
Dynamic font size they called it I think.
Was using my ix last time with ios 11 and I recall that it only works mostly with the system apps and selected third party apps.

Still available while stocks last at RM4299 for 64GB and RM4999 for 256GB. In my opinion, better value than the Xs, and not that much of difference.

Hi all, I am facing this peculiar issue since few weeks ago.

My iPhone default music application, where I used it to listen to my music playlist in non-shuffling mode through my car's bluetooth function, for some reason after like i completed my journey and turn off the engine

then when i came back for a new journey, the whole playlist just restarted. It will start playing the first song of the playlist instead of the song that I last listened to.

I don't have this problem previously for few years (old iPhone) then changed to this new iPhone.

But recently this issue kept happening, so I am wondering did you guys face similar issue? Got solution for this?

Thank you

QCD service very fussy or simply reject. Long time ago I brought my IP5 for some battery issue and since it was SG set, they said can't service because not Malaysia set. Brought to Machines KLCC they serviced without any questions.

Would appreciate views of battery life on 12.1. Previously updated to 12.0 with not so good battery life thereafter.

Now still holding on 11.4.1 with very good battery life.

Don’t forget the removal of SD
Apple is the only company in the world which have the brand power to consistently force not only their customers to adapt...but other brands & their customers to adopt too.

Disclaimer: I still miss the fingerprint sensor, no matter how good the faceID is....

THIS.... is good battery life....

Unable to achieve this when running iOS 12.0 even after a few days for it to “settle down”.

Well, to be fair, iPhones never had expandable storage since the beginning. At least they didn’t go and create their own memory card standard unlike.... laugh.gif

Coz I am still on 11.4.1.

Updated to 12.0 upon its release but decided to downgrade back to 11.4.1 (while Apple was still signing it) because of not-so-good battery life.

Now since 12.1 is out, maybe battery life is no more issue?

Maybe better to stick to 11.4.1 if battery life is priority 1 for you.

Must we wait until “an unexpected shutdown” to occur first before the option to DISABLE the performance management appear?

Or is it up to user to disable/ enable just like the “Low Power Mode” function?

You can choose to disable it once your battery can no longer support peak performance, I guess.

Don’t understand why ppl are so paranoid about the reduce peak performance aka battery mgmt.
Iphones last for very long time and will still be viable, will still be getting updates after 3-4years.

I guess the other phone makers don’t face the same problem, because they stopped supporting phones after 18months, even the flagship ones. So are you expected to change new phone after merely 1.5years? Just ask Samsung.

Yes, and those with older phones who are paranoid about it can just do a simple thing - just change the battery smile.gif

Standard SOP for all phone manufacturers whistling.gif

Apple also most probably the same, want you to upgrade every year. If not why wouldnt they tell you that changing the battery can solve your phone slow down problem, and only after ppl complain then they add in the option to turn off the feature. All phone manufacturers want you to change phone every year if not mcm mana cari makan

I understand & agree with what you said. It’s a money making business anyway, regardless of manufacturer.

But my iphone6 doesn’t feel slow at all, even after 3years. Only the battery life was like crap after ~18months...down to 30% in the afternoon with “light” usage. Light is a subjective anyway.
