cool, so I don't need to purpose update to ios 12 on my current phone right? coz I had some bad experience last time, where I did backup on ios 10, and when I get the new iphone x, it says restore failed coz new phone is running on ios 11 by default..  cry.gif
*
11.2 backup, restore to 12.0 later... ok
Backup 12.0, restore to 11.4.1... doable but tedious, not recommended

i have changed mine for free at machine klcc.. but my problem is ghost touch issue.. just go to any authorized dealer for check
*
I had not drop in water nor in rain nor anywhere fully into liquid...yet the last time when I drop it for diagnose....they claim my device failed liquid test...
any change or claim = I suppose to pay for replacement set...which is price almost u can consider add a bit to iPhone 11...

luckily it seems more like software issue and now gone for nothing...

I guess any issue with the phone = a new phone, won't be replacement program anymore...

Guys, are our iPhone X 3D Touch function gone due to iOS 13?
*
its not gone actually....
but because as more app tuned to Haptic Touch now...u will find sometimes the response feels a bit odd...
because now a touch with a delay is equal to press...
Pop is missing in more and more apps... sad.gif

Anyway...since the last time restore, and the Battery Service message gone...
now its back again...sigh...
I wonder should I reset my phone again...
or just use until its comes to rest 1 day...

QUOTE(westlife @ Apr 21 2020, 10:44 AM)
so it is not iOS 13 to cause the 3D touch to be gone but apps?

If i am on iOS12 vs iOS13, is there any difference to the 3D touch?

This is the point i dun get it.

Probably a simple question is if you 3D touch an app on the home screen to pop up the menu for selection of functions on my iPhone X (iOS 13) vs an iphone 11 Pro to do the same action. Is there a difference in feeling or they are exactly the same??

It is too confusing on this point.
*
Bro..u can do the test yourself too...simple as that...
Today if u go to the Accessibility, then turn off 3D Touch, back to home and long press the app icon, they behaves similarly as Haptic Touch
turn back on 3D Touch, force press the icon and menu right away...there is time delay for 3D vs Haptic
Its just that starting iOS13, Apple make all devices works on Haptic Touch, regardless u r 3D Touch device or not...
their system apps now also support or refine towards Haptic Touch, that's the reason why now e.g. Photos, u can't do all the Peek and Pop anymore...Peek is working by long press, but no more Pop
At the start of iOS13, a lot app who has built to support Peek and Pop still working initially...but as they get updated...more n more now align towards Haptic Touch gesture.
example, previously you can also do Peek and Pop with WhatsApp chats, now left with the Peek by Haptic Touch, no more Pop.
Among messaging App I know that still support Peek and Pop is WeChat and KakaoTalk.
LINE, Telegram, etc all can't use ad...

thanks a lot bro for the tips. i tried and i can tell the difference.

sad to see 3D touch are gone for apps over time.

so if my iphone X is still on ios 12, it is not affected rite?
*
I ll say u won't find the oddness of of app behaving to both 3DT and HapticT
but I do believe for those app which has optimised for Haptic, you still will loose the ability like Pop
system apps probably ok...
so its a matter of time... cool2.gif

Well my battery health is around 77% so it’s time to change battery. Notice that iPhone performs slightly better after I change battery I.e. no longer app hang or freeze
*
ITWorld is 1 of authorised reseller...how is it going?

I went for Machines earlier when mine throwing "service" on me...but Machines refused to fix just battery, said my phone has liquid detection, they can only do full replacement, which then cost u almost 3k (I better off get new if I want to)

Been continue with the phone since then, but lately start throwing weird behaviour...like at night will suddenly lost from 8x%/7x% to 6x% (I usually go bed at night with about 9x% remaining).

So now thinking whether to just continue live with it (probably always carry power bank around if away from power source), or find external party to replace batt (just worry those issue people not reset properly and brick the thing)

IT world is one of the Apple authorised service centre
Liquid detection? Did liquid enter your phone?
There are a few reputable external service provider. Do have a look at facebook
*
unless sweat count...in my memory I never once letting that phone into any liquid before...but still...somehow they claim my liquid detection is positive and refused for batt replacement, must go full replacement that cost ~3K, so I gave up.

Just wonder if anyone did before batt replacement with those non-authorised service provider on X and newer models, how assure its working after that...

Curious also if anyone used before secondlifeasia?
so far seen only 1 mention before...
their price for batt change + labour (400++) seems on the high side if compare with official store repair...
I am fine if its reliable...or there are others who is okay also?

Why not go to authorised service provider if the third party service centre charges more?
Previously I had a third party service charge quoting me RM 650 for battery change during CMCO which is a lot higher than what the authorised service provider charge
*
coz the official reseller is quoting me more as they claim my phone has liquid detection and refuse to change only battery, asking for full replacement which ~3k

Maybe try other official service centre else try Apple Support live chat so they can redirect you to other service centre
*
Once u refused when they quote u, u still got charged for labor fee that’s around 50 each
So no point la

QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 6 2020, 07:20 PM)
How much on average does it cost these days for a battery change in official service center?

Mine is around 78% which it is prompting me to replace. Been quoted like RM600+ at unofficial shops which seems crazy high.
*
around 350 excluding labor, I assume its safe if u look for reliable support shop out there...

QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 7 2020, 01:14 PM)
Well, the problem i had with authorized is that they would give me alot of reason to not service them, even though i am paying.

The last time i tried to service mine (changing battery as well), they mention that my screen has a scratch and there is a potential problem where they would break the screen (why they would open the screen i dont know) if they were to change my battery. And if that happens, i would also have to pay for the screen repair and they would not be responsible for it - and ask whether i would take the risk.

But it seems like the battery from non-authorized are now super inflated in terms of price.

Maybe i should find another authorized center, if it is around the RM300+ range.
*
dude...your display panel need to be open and remove to access the battery... and the display panel cost 1599 or more... (4 digit for all full screen FaceID models...)

I see, for me at diagnostics test stage they tell me whether the iPhone is affected by liquid detection or not. Maybe you can try to contact IT World via WhatsApp or their contact no and enquire

Otherwise guess going for reputable third party service provider is your only option
*
at the end, drop by secondlifeasia...and looks like we found as well the screen start misbehaving, suspect its the liquid damage that caused problem to the sensitivity as well, so if add up the cost of display replacement and batt...that is already half way to a new phone...the risk is that there is no tell tale if there is no other part suffer from it yet...so might as well...

Good Bye iPhone X... sad.gif
