guys, who here have done servicing aircond compressor? how frequent u did it? my last service, the technician told me to do it every 2 - 3 year. but the thing is, this is not stated in the booklet. so i wondering is it necessary for iriz? and how frequent? if necessary, why it is not stated in the booklet?

Proton CoSE informs that (unofficially), no need to service...it’s designed to work flawlessly for 10 years then rosak change everything...If always buka tutup for service will incur other rattling problems within dashboard... 🤣🤣🤣 |

Hi guys. Do you get the above noise on your iriz? I get this noise (in the video) but not as severe. So when i sent to SC last week, i dont think they fix it, probably because it doesnt happen everytime, and hard for them to find out. So the noise is still there, can get annoying. Btw i had a small dent on my door, sc told me to change whole door because the dent is touching the safety bar, cannot ketuk. Quoted me rm2000++ for changing door, skirting and paint. Walao. |

QUOTE(lol~ @ May 14 2018, 11:13 AM) yes my father in law washed my car. he borrowed the car for few days and he wash it before return to me. but from where the sound came from? No big deal. Sound comes from brake disc or brake drum when it is wet. Drive abit more and use the brakes more often the sound will go away after it's dried up. |

The last gen persona and preve produces damn a lot of brake dust, making your silver rims become black. On the iriz however, it's non existent. |

Gear lock issue?
Type: 1.3E 2017 latest model keyless auto I am facing the gear lock issue if I lock the car by car door lock and unlock by remote. The car can be start but gear can't change from P to any position. It will pop up a lock logo in center meter and unable to shift gear and only solution is off engine, go out the car, lock the car via door lock and unlock via door lock. Anyone facing this issue or this is normal? |

just encounter this yesterday, after toll, stopped at road side, double signal on, gorstan for about 50-80m, switch off car, shortly after 5mins or so, start the car back.
then my ecu display gong, rpm not moving, engine light on, ECS light on, handbrake light on. center info all frozen. kept going for quite a distance like normal. then found a chance, stopped the car, switched off car, restart back then everything backed to normal. scares me, maybe battery abit weak also contribute to the problem maybe? |

The steering is really "heavy" or tight when turning corner tbh. I feel like it is so not smooth when cornering. Isit all Iriz steering is like that ? |

QUOTE(godyuz95 @ May 26 2018, 07:24 PM) hi guys, just test drived iriz in show room. Wanna ask sifus. Iriz is using electronic power steering. When on very low speeds(Eg: coming out from parking, making a uturn), the steering will be very light. At higher speeds, the steering stiffens up. Maybe you find it not smooth as ur not used to this behavior. I prefer this behavior as I feel it makes the turning feels more accurate at higher speeds. The steering is really "heavy" or tight when turning corner tbh. Just greeted with a impatient and sounds dead SC call to confirm service appointment, hopefully service next week won't be so unsatisfying as this. sigh...

Iriz owners with aftermarket HU, is it possible to link the front USB port to the HU? planning to get a HU with CarPlay and it’d be great if I can connect directly from the front instead of running through the glovebox.
And does Proton sell the rear USB port parts separately for 1.3 standard models? |

Guys, I intend to update the technical section.
What are the common problems that we have that can be easily DIY-ed? What are the symptoms of brake/clutch switch failure? QUOTE(Cwkc93 @ Jun 4 2018, 10:54 AM) I like how you called it a Roda impian! HAHA I installed an aftermarket aircond filter so due to its more restrictive nature, I don't want the blower to blow at the feet. Eitherway, I often wear shoes and long pants in the car(about 95% of the time) so thats kinda useless for me.btw mine is like blowing at my feet too so I don't really mind the blower. It's quite comfortable |

Depending on the willingness of both sides to void warranty of new unit, theoretically it is possible to mod the 4 tiny usb wirings to reuse the original port, yes involving cutting off ori harness and rejoining wires. And does Proton sell the rear USB port parts separately for 1.3 standard models? Carplay system requirement for usb access is another story, but this is only opinion on my case as android phone user and my HU is fully android based, so my usb port only serve as external media access. 16gb with almost 1k songs is enough to plug and forget it for a while Besides how frequent we need to access it? It is just more convenient to stick to new HU's own provided usb cable inside glovebox anyway, both for installer and us as the user. Plus cleaner look with no protruding usb stick getting in a way to fully use the compartment space and as it also well hidden in the glovebox. In your case why not pre-plugged lightning cable inside glove box then take out only necessary length of other end then fix just nicely beside phone compartment for example. less cluttered. Regarding rear port, maybe can ask ppc but you can opt for universal type installed. |

Was it because of added features such as TnG scanner, auto collision preventive stop and etc.? As far as i know built quality, body sturdiness amd driving dynamics Iriz still has the upper hand there |

QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Jun 9 2018, 12:50 AM) Anyone here change a better sound system? For the most cheap & basic upgrade you can simply swap the speakers to coaxials for immediate sound separation effect. Shop for 6.5" 2-way or more exp 3-way speaker and you could diy install it. At this stage you can opt to add underseat subwoofer to complement the new setup. most average and casual listener with satisfy enough with this.I was thinking to change the stock speakers to better one. Not sure where to start. OR Go for component speakers setup for more substantial and better sound separation+staging effect, as the tweeter will be placed farther than the woofer. But this higher wattage rated speaker set need some amplified source to get the most benefit out of it, so add either the cheaper pre-amp [graphic equalizer] or 2ch power amp to drive the unit. And, while you go for powered system, you might want to add proper boxed subs unit drive by either 4ch power amp shared with component unit or better and more exp, its own monoblock amp. Doesn't matter if you are bass head or not but surely will appreciate the broader sound spectrum in the cabin ambiance filled by the low bass, as at this point underseat subs unit wont be able to deliver the same experience though. |

QUOTE(northernhero @ Jun 10 2018, 09:48 AM) just a hypothetically question. Cannot be 2 to 3 years old alreadyout of warranty...unless didn’t go beck SC...few weeks ago i saw someone from picm say that their cvt rosak and out of warranty, replacement cost about 13k, car is only 2 to 3 years old. if we encounter such situation what should we do? can i know how likely it will happen? my car is ok now but i'm worried if thing like this happened what could i do? cheaper to change to manual? Most common reason is wrong gb oil used..like what happened to Honda in those days... |

Any tips to restore A/C condition?
I swear my A/C is cool enough during the 1st year. Now into 2nd year, on a hot day I need to crank the A/C dialer at least 7 clicks and fan speed to 3. |

After done that cek a/c temp if it get restored. If not, need to top up refrigerant gas. While at it do inspection for any possible gas leaking. I have a feeling that servicing a/c is cheaper at outside shop. QUOTE(kelvinhunter @ Jun 11 2018, 12:14 PM) Hi Guys, Timing belt. Normally people change at around 100k. My car went over a rather huge cement block and part of its side (towards the rear end) skirting got chipped off as a result. I know it's not something very serious but where should I go if I want to get it replaced? Do SCs offer such services or do I have to go to private workshops? My worry with the latter is whether they can match the paint colour with the rest of the car. Thanks.

Best place to go is SC if you’re getting it replaced...Painting most likely they outsource it, so go ask SC for assurance... Else, get the part from SC or go Parts Centre directly...then paint it outside, could get cheaper... |

btw wanna ask, back suspension can claim warranty ah?
or is it considered wea and tear like brake pads. was carrying full load passengers one day, then driving during night time and they tarred the road freshly, did not notice there was a speed bump as the road looked smooth and flat. went over it slighlty fast, then from there on my right rear will have sound when i go over humps or uneven roads dy. but only berbunyi if got load behind. if i drive alone or with 1 passenger in front driving on bumps the rear wont make noise. |

my car is due for 60k km service next week. but the thing is, my car mileage only 30k km so far.. all these while i've been servicing based on the 6 month period as my mileage is quite low. but 60k km service is quite exp since its the first major service i think.. CVT oil change and other stuffs included in it.. should i / do i need to strictly follow the servicing items still? or you think its ok to skip some stuffs? anyone been in my situation before? lol i feel its quite wasted to do a "major service" for now since my car's mileage is quite low. Can adjust don't worry. Lastly, if u are light-footer and travel home-office-home short distance, no problem to skip the cvt service if you are in doubt, then just follow the schedule |

Anyone ever experienced discrepancies of data between the receipt and system?
I just sent my car to Glenmarie and was told that I used semi-syn oil in my previous service as what stated in the system. This is baffling me because I'm pretty sure I asked for fully-syn before and even got the receipt of it. This raises my suspicion. Is it possible for them to key in data differently and deliberately charge me for the service I requested but "didn't get"? Whom should I forward this matter to? |

Anyone can give me ideas? is 1.3 underpowered? Im looking at 2015 or 2016 models for city use, doesnt feel underpower but for highway use u can slightly feel underpower if u have >2 passenger. and usually the car will feel underpower (but still manageable) on high slope road. u gonna have good time if u buy the mt version. i have no complain with the respond for 1.3 mt version. anyway, for FC, standard rim will give u 7.9 - 8.5 l/100km for city drive and 6.9 - 7.8 l/100km full highway drive. if u upgrade ur rim, the consumption will be slightly higher but the power are still there (depend on ur rim weight).overall, still satisfy with it ------------------------------------------- BTW i never feel like wanting to change car before until last weekend. my baby stroller cant fit in the bonet! how do u guys with kids did it? i never thought the length of the stroller would be a huge factor for iriz This post has been edited by lol~: Jul 9 2018, 08:59 AM |

But can definitely feel that it will be underpowered if have more passengers/cargo. Only thing that im dissapointed on are the rattling/noise untill today still not sorted. I'll request for mechanic to inspect the car before i decide to buy Get the car number plate and enquire urself with proton. Mine is only 3 years as I bought the car between first year 5 years warranty then later 5 years warranty period.price is 30k if cash buy, 32k if buying thru bank loan, one thing that makes me wonder why cash buy is cheaper than bank loan buy? I thought bank release money quite fast also? or is something fishy brewing? and also owner told me his car warranty valid till november of 2019 because 5 years warranty, then just now i go into proton service centre to double check, they told me its only 3 years warranty, so now no more waranty. super confused now... i thought all iriz come with 5 years warranty?? I guess not uncommon for people to ask for more when taking loan thru the bank. Thats why #CashIsKing. This post has been edited by yadea: Jul 11 2018, 10:40 AM |

Anybody encountered rattling on front passenger door? Sounds like something inside (metal) is rattling when driving slowly and it is freaking loud!
Sent to SC for 4 times, every time say settled but actually nothing has been solved until now. Sometimes just feel like banging the door and just change the whole damn door |

Good day. My wife 3 yo iriz, clocked at 120 km, are having temp issue. Highest i saw is 5 bar. The fan wont stop spinning even after the engine are off, not until temp are down to 3 bar. Ive just flush and changed the coolant recently. How do i check which parts is problematic? The fan running during a/c on. Is it water pump, or thermostat, the fan itself, relay or something else? Hope somebody can help.

Not really sure what FEAD is, but radiator bru lpas flush and changed coolant, that night when she said overheated. Waterpump ok. Gone to independent mechanic, he said if everything's ok, could mean head bengkok, but very unlikely he added. Right now, at Proton SC for troubleshoot. Hope nothing serious. My aircond now got issue, blow cold air for a moment...then warm....then cold again. Water droplets also form at the aircond vents due to the constant change of temperature. Sometimes it can stay warm for a long time.
Since my car already more than 3 years, no more warranty for aircond. Wonder if sending to proton COSE is a better choice or I should send to outside shop. Ive been servicing my car according to schedule so i find it unacceptable for the aircond to go wrong after only 3 yrs+. Feel like bringing back to proton to see what they say. Hopefully jz topup gas. This post has been edited by danielcmugen: Jul 15 2018, 04:18 PM |

QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Jun 9 2018, 12:15 PM) Thanks for the information. Hi Bro, have you changed the speaker already ? Which brand and model you went for ? I think I will only go with coaxial speakers because I don't want 2 tweeters on my dashboard, and a subwoofer is too much. I'm not looking for like next level sound quality, I just some something less flat. Stock speakers on Iriz is really potong stim. I have my eyes on this https://www.edifier.com/my/en/car-audio/g65...nt-car-speakers But not sure if the speakers fit on Iriz or it needs some modification on HU. Add: How do I check the maximum output for Proton Iriz HU? I checked with Edifier and according to them, they do not have any speaker model that is plug-and-play with Proton Iriz. All of them need certain level of modification on the door panel that needs to cut open a hole for the speaker. Is that the case ? Maybe sifus here can give me some idea which brand and model are PnP with Iriz door panel ? Look to go for passive component speaker set + active underseat subwoofer. Any recommendation ? |

I've seen pioneer to have it but no extensive line ups choice to pick like common 6.5".I checked with Edifier and according to them, they do not have any speaker model that is plug-and-play with Proton Iriz. Local brand like Mohawk do have one marketed especially for iriz. But 0.25~0.5" difference is not that much to have to resort to cut a hole... I know as I myself use 6.5", they only use plastic spacer then drill new screws few mm's apart. |

What I'm worried is that the speaker is too thick in size, hence it will need to cut the door trim to allow the speaker to pop out of it. Anyone know what is the dimension of the original oem speaker on Iriz ? The speaker I am eyeing is 166mm on the widest, 90mm on the magnet side and 65mm thick. ![]() |

Wiring harness for rear speakers end at B-pillar, can see in photo the cover is removed to access for it. Yes, need additional wires from the pillar to the door. As it is a stock unit only so no need fancy cables. normal speaker wires is enough, easy job for the installer. Front comp speakers powered by 4ch power amp under the passenger seat (also driving the sub in the boot), while rear speakers as it using original wiring, powered directly by HU. Probably the manufacturer does not see much potential in sales for us or there were actually less demand from the current owners. They must have conducted some kind of market study to decide on this. Which tell us something, is our car really perceived as an unpopular in overall despite all the hype and publicity? Forget about custom tail lights, even custom window shades also near non-existent compare to other model. closest persona vvt also got. |

Hi Sifusss, anyone did their audio upgrade without tapping original manufacturer wire?
Possible to use any harness to connect in between? Went to accessory shop to change speaker and before I realised they already tapped the wire and they say upgrade speaker sure need to tap wire. But I've seen some connector/harness on Lazada before. Wonder if it's possible. Coincidentally, 2 days after my audio job, today when I tried to start the car, the aircon and windows both kong. Aircon no air at all, not even blower. Windows all 4 cannot move. Worried if it's cause by the audio job. :'( |

QUOTE(WjLye @ Aug 11 2018, 07:12 PM) Found the issue, nothing to do with audio upgrade. Good for you It's the brake lock. The brake lock had a socket to disable ignition if the brake lock is not unlocked. SC disconnected the brake lock socket harness and connect the original socket to IG directly and problem solved. How much it cost you? any review for the upgrade? QUOTE(mwafi1998 @ Aug 15 2018, 05:54 PM) As an LED seller myself, I can say that cheap stuff does not always translated to better quality. True that it will add some amount of drag due to the absent of half of the solid panel only IF you plan to bring to track but I think for daily city drive it doesn't matter la Rather, I would be more worry about the fully exposed a/c condenser as stone chips can hurt it faster. |

Actually the stock blaupunkt speakers are decent.. the android head unit is the one that muffles sound quality..
Get a quality headunit, then change the speakers if its not up to ur mark.. |

Of course used car prone to have some minor problems here and there, as long as not major one especially involving safety risk is still a good buy.
btw your car got good service record from sc or last owner already went outside shop? |

I once sat in Grab - new saga back seat and really impressed, but too bad I will always be the driver My personal view la...but due to money constraint I will still choose cheaper newer saga than Iriz, for now, but still interested to know if some cheap 2nd hand deal come out |

Any idea if the 1.3 standard mt verison can upgrade the body kits? the standard version without skirting and rear spoiler is too ugly eh. Pasang from third party will void the warranty right? planning to get the manual one.

It is not in warranty, of course you are free to install it, be it oem or third party kit, this is done at outside shop anyway as sc won't entertain any mod job that out of original spec.I also own std variant, and the 1st week after I got it I installed the 1.6 spoiler. As for body kit I can live without it, doesn't give much visual impact for me to bother. |

There is warranty on the fitment of door and bumper...when you accept your car and find anything misaligned, you may claim...but if you received and nothing is amiss, then most likely that warranty is no longer applicable...So best is to install after a year or two if warranty concerns you... |

2nd facelift coming next year? The front and rear bumpers are covered and the hatch part is blacked out which suggest cosmetic changes. And I assume there will be new features as well
![]() http://www.funtasticko.net/intip-proton-ir...erwajah-baharu/ Saga and Persona test cars were also seen otr recently so they too are due for an update next year plus an all-new model coming so 2019 is expected to be pretty busy. |

Hi may i know if anyone has any problem regarding wind noise coming coming in from the driver’s side. Rubber still looks fine to me. Driving the 2014 model proton iriz premium. Can anyone suggest me a solution to this? Thanks!

QUOTE(chikuera @ Sep 23 2018, 11:02 AM) is trapo any good? Trapo definitely easier to wash and maintain, but lost the premium feel, visually not so attractive, and noisy. Its like when u step on it, there's "tap" sounds. Imagine like walk on ply wood vs walk on carpet. For my MT iriz when i release the clutch to rest, always had the tap tap sounds. how much is the cost? the wirely kedai kereta one i dont like lolol..trapo seen the ads..macam easy to wash Those coil mats its much more silent and comfortable, but hard to clean for sure. I heard the newer version got another padding? |

QUOTE(jVIPERs2 @ Oct 5 2018, 03:28 PM) Yup, that’s the brand... I have look at it but there's 1 thing I can't comprehend is how does the reverse camera activated? It’s a lil sensitive, but very reliable and recording quality is acceptable for the asking price.. Does it on all the time or can it be activated only when i turn the reverse gear? |

Depending on the type of reverse cam, there are 2 common method to trigger it, both by tapping at reverse lights (+) wire.
Standalone type usually by simply powering the cam by the lights then only can send the video signal. The integrated type one have extra 'trigger' wire (also tap at the lights) to send signal to HU to display the always-powered cam its video signal. |

QUOTE(AlOnE89 @ Oct 14 2018, 05:55 AM) It's probably new gearbox combo with new engine? Looks like Toyota’s global face A talented soul photoshopped the Iriz to match with the facelift model spotted on the road recently, credit to funtasticko Malaysia (refer attachment) But i think it’s better than just using Persona’s grill, which looks weird on a hatchback imo |

We can only hope that the interior is totally upgraded, like the one in Geely Emgrand GL or Geely Binrui
When you comparing the mocked up facelift Iriz, it actually resemble Geely Binrui a bit on the front fog light, even the bulge pattern on side doors are identical |

![]() ![]() Finally some HD shots of the front and rear. Pretty significant front end conversion. Fingers crossed the feature set matches the Myvi with LED headlights, smart tag reader, new infotainment system, keyless entry/start and 6 airbags on all specs as well as all other things including the ones that were removed from the last update. Whether these updates extend to the powertrain remains to be seen but the Exora facelift back in 2011 did have a new engine in addition to new looks so that'll be left as a possibility. |

New engine and things like ASA is a bit tougher but seeing as Proton has offered facelifts with new engines before and that the Iriz is designed to support advanced safety features from the start, I'm somewhat certain their Chinese partner will have a solution for these two parts, maybe a lower cost version of their existing powertrains and technology. Either way, Proton has to do quite a bit to make the Iriz interesting once again in addition to the Saga and Persona as well, they better do when they seriously plan to have over 150k sales by 2020. Hopefully next year's reveal won't be disappointing. This post has been edited by Lez Pall: Oct 15 2018, 11:44 PM |

Yes, they could manufacture world class cars but even the simple cars they have now is a challenge for them to keep it running problem free...I’m not trusting their ability to maintain the advanced safety features! Let’s see how they fare keeping the X70 on the roads.. On paper, the myvi looks awesome...but in reality, it lacks a whole load of refinement... |

QUOTE(lolsomany @ Oct 18 2018, 12:44 AM) i don't think all spec got 6 airbag because if they include it, nobody gonna buy executive or even premium variant. i can see proton will put 4 airbag for standard and executive variant. another thing we hope is a new GDI engine and new CVT, this can help this car boost sales. new 1.5 GDI engine with new CVT from geely are much more appreciated. if they still stick with VVT engine and old cvt, only few will buy this. ![]() I can foresee them using this engine in this facelift as well as other future models for a few reasons: 1. It's MPI instead of GDI which doesn't add a huge amount of cost. It's also modular in design similar to the Petronas engine. 2. All aluminium construction, integrated exhaust manifold and Euro 5/6 capable. Is also compatible with idle start/stop and mild hybrid setups. 3. Can be paired with either a CVT or a DCT. The former is the obvious choice. 4. It's already in use in several Geely models since late 2017 so it's readily available. And from what I can tell, it hasn't had any reported serious problems so far. Maybe Proton will have a cost effective version of this engine for small car use in the works. Perhaps a non-turbo variant or a smaller turbo with less boost with more focus on efficiency. |

It’ll be interesting to see what’s Proton’s move with the Iriz...
Can they challenge the new MyVi? Or would they just be happy with clearing parts stocks and look forward for further tongkat from tongsan? |
