Me too. Opened a Maybank savings account in July. Took me 1 hour. Last time when i opened my Public Bank savings account back in 2003, it took less than 30 minutes sweat.gif

On a more serious note, if you folks are not using the Maybank Visa Debit facility for a long time, better to set your purchase limit to very low amount.
That's just in case somebody try to purchase online using your debit card number, it'll deduct straight from your savings acc and then have to go thru a lot of hassle to get your money back.

Just erase off the 3 digit CV code on your card.
And for VISA, there is another page asking for your password, so it's not that easy to take other people's card and try to purchase stuff online.

Why you need to erase that number? Card issuers put in the number there for a reason. Don't be so paranoid.

Anyway, not all online purchase asking you that password. Some just asking your CVV & expiry date only.

You can withdraw all the money out if you after open the account, make sure you have a minimum balance in your account before you want to use your debit card to pump petrol.

Correct. Make sure you have at least RM201 when you want to swipe the card at any petrol kiosk as Public Bank will temporary hold RM200 from your account. The remaining balance will be refunded to you once Public Bank clear their account.

By the way, solarwing, the minimum balance you need to keep in your Public Bank savings account is RM1 only at the time smile.gif

You are eligible for it as long as you are at least 12-year-old. But if you are under 18 you will need your mom or dad to sign some forms as a guarantor.

I got my PIN a week after receiving the card. You can change the PIN as usual at the ATM later.
Sign up with Verified by Visa to add max security to your card. You can do this at Public Bank official site.. smile.gif

Yes, you don't have to necessarily look for debit card option. Choose credit card - Visa. Your debit card will be treated the same. Wherever Visa is accepted, so does your debit card.
I already tried MAS, AirAsia, Amazon, and Benefit Cosmetics.. Love my card so much. This thread and the helping community are excellent! wink.gif
