As written in their website and above, petrol transactions do not qualify for the 0.5% cash rebate. But then, if you have their Day2Day VISA Debit card, you can use it to pay for fuel and the current cash rebate is 1%. After December the cash rebate for fuel and groceries shopping will be 0.8%.


I used to be a PBVE cardholder and if my memory serves me correctly, you can use the card right away, even if you haven't got the PIN number. You can swipe it at any shops displaying the VISA logo as well as making payments online. Certain online websites will need you to register for Verified by VISA before you can proceed to make a payment, so remember to register for Verified by VISA in Public Bank first.

"To promote prudent spending, a service charge of RM50 a year to be imposed on each principal credit card and charge card; and RM25 a year on each supplementary card, effective from Jan 1, 2010"

Are debit cards affected by the new regulation?

No mention of debit card. So i believe it does not apply to debit card.

No, I don't think it'll affect debit cards.

The point is to limit cards held by a single person, thus limiting the total credit he/she has. Debit cards don't provide a line of credit

I believe that is just a sample or prototype.

you can apply a debit card that will be linked to your Maybank account.

done mine 2weeks ago, got it in 30minutes only (total la from my first step into the bank)

i have to pay rm12 coz it is consider as a new card..

it is your ATM card with a plus, VISA. thats all.
