hi all, I've been reading around on airmiles and asking chatgpt for rough calculations.

seems like for an average joe, its almost impossible to gather airmiles in the normal way unless there's a 3x or 5x kinda promotion.

the rough calculations were - if for a family of 4 - example from KL to Tokyo:
- MAS airmiles required for economy return = 360,000 Enrich miles
- using Maybank 2 Card Premier as example, local spend RM1 = 2 Treats points
- conversion: 10K Treats points = 1,000 Enrich miles
- total spending required = RM1.8 mil needed

Is there something I'm missing out on? I think my overall expenditure per annum is about RM100K, seems super far off from the above haha.

can help to recco what air miles cc I should get based on the above? initially thought can redeem free business class but i guess not. im using alot of cashback cc but feels every month RM30-50 cashback like so little.

KL to tokyo(narita) for MAS, economy return is only around 40k, 40k x 4 which is 160k, how u get 360k...?

Alliance Bank Visa Signature. You can easily reach the RM 2,001 to RM 3,000 spending monthly anyway, so why so care about the min spend? If you are a big spender, you can automatically cross into 0.25% category, higher a bit compares to other banks that offer unlimited cashback.

CASHBACK CATEGORY CASHBACK RATE MONTHLY CAP SPEND
Online Shopping, Groceries, Dining, Petrol, Utilities & Other Retail Spends 0.05% uncapped from RM1up to RM1,000 monthly
Online Shopping, Groceries, Dining, Petrol, Utilities & Other Retail Spends 0.5% uncapped from RM1,001up to RM2,000 monthly
Online Shopping, Groceries, Dining, Petrol, Utilities & Other Retail Spends 5% uncapped from RM2,001up to RM3,000 monthly
Online Shopping, Groceries, Dining, Petrol, Utilities & Other Retail Spends 0.25% uncapped from RM3,001 or above monthly

Serious 0.25%? I don't bother with anything below 3% cashback. Yes I capped my spending cause no point spending when they don't reward you.

Hi guys ! please recommend

1. Annual Income: RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes (also ok for minimum swipe)

3. Card required for: Cash Back, Miles or/and Points

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Standard Chartered Simply Cash (terminating soon), Maybank Manchester United, CIMB e Credit Card

5. Interested in CC from: Public Bank or Hong Leong Bank

6. Others:

I want to get the best out of either miles/points or cashback credit card from either PB OR HLB. Only want to get to these banks because of 0% EPP for big bike purchase + support Samsung Pay. Also bonus if bank do frequent offers e.g free or discount at F&B.

Extra information:
Im replacing Standard Chartered - Simply Cash CC and will terminate due to shitty apps and annual fee. I have used UOB/Citibank Cashback CC in the past but sadly had to terminate due to no Samsung pay support. On the side, I also use CIMB e Credit Card (to utilize points on 28th) and Maybank Manchester United for backup as its the most convenient in term of banking + apps.

Hello sifus, I currently have Maybank Ikhwan Plat Amex Credit, Maybank Cashback Gold Amex Credit, and Maybank FC Barca Plat Visa Credit.

My monthly spending is around RM 4.5K, my 6-month median cashback:
1. From the Ikhwan Plat Amex - RM 50 a month
2. From the Cashback Gold Amex - RM 29 a month
3. From the FCBarca Plat Visa - RM 11 a month

Do I start optimising for airmiles at this spend level - assuming I fly overseas 1-2 times a year; one of those to Africa (usually Johannesburg, SA) via Emirates, the other a random holiday with no set airline (I'd stick to one airline if my CC gives miles for it) - or just stick to cashback? Therefore, should I continue keeping these 3, or are there other options that would be better? (Eg. Consolidating / switching to a different card)

no comments on airmiles.

2. From the Cashback Gold Amex - RM 29 a month

iinm, this is unlimited 1%. with rm29 cb, that's about rm2900 spending using CB Amex Gold.

since these spendings/merchants already accepting amex, perhaps you can get Maybank 2 Card Amex? it gives weekend 5% cb, rm1000 spending gives rm50 cb per month.

remaining rm1900 spending using CB Gold amex instead.

3. From the FCBarca Plat Visa - RM 11 a month

i guess this is general spending, mostly offline swipes?

rm11 cb from rm1100 spending (1% cb rate)

perhaps can get Affin Duo+? the Visa Signature card gives 3% cb for any offline spend below rm250/txn. you can get rm50 cb with up to rm1667

for other general online spending, can get RHB Shell or RHB WMC or Affin Duo.

Hi all, planning to purchase electrical appliances for new house using Shopee through credit card installment. I see that only three banks are accepted, CIMB Maybank and PBB. Wondering which cc from these banks are the best to apply to? Currently I have affin duo and rhb shell, but neither these two are accepted as cc installment in shopee.

if u r fine with 12-month tenure,
could potentially utilise the Affin 0% 12-m FPP manually but ensure sufficient time between buying/posting date and statement date
alternatively, utilise your RHB shell cash back quota and Affin 0% 12-m balance transfer
either way, might need to wait for a while because the current promotion last until 30 June 2025, hopefully they will be extended

if both cash back from affin duo & rhb shell had been maxed out, MBI Amex could provide additional RM 50 cash back

Thanks for the idea. I had forgotten about this affin FPP because I've used it before last time. Will keep an eye on this if they extend the promotion. thumbup.gif
