Shell/Unifi/Maxis/Astro - Maybank 2 AMEX 5% cash back on weekend

Utilities maybe can go PBB Islamic Visa Platinum (reload to TNG and pay to TNB) - 4-1% cash back capped at RM30 (RM750 spending)

What I meant is can get CB for insurance if you pay using affin duo. I believed the only card which give you CB for insurance.
*
Hi, I have looked at all the TnC, but I didn't find any lines stated got CB for insurance. If I have CB for insurance, I am also interested, as my monthly commitment to insurance is also quite a number. Thank you for your answer.

unless u r paying at kiosk, etc, it is highly likely that it would fall under recurring (direct debit) / online (web/apps)
AND insurance does not fall under the excluded transaction list
*
Do you mean I pay insurance online via this Affin Duo and then can enjoy CB?

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jul 21 2024, 03:49 PM)
insurance autodebit

Do you mean I sign up for my insurance as auto debit via this Affin Duo and then can enjoy CB?

1. Annual Income: RM110K+

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferably, can consider waiver with minimum swipe

3. Card required for:
E-wallet reload, depends on the situation
Petrol, RM300-700
Groceries, around RM300-500
Utility bill (TNB/SAJ/Unifi), around RM800-900
Online shopping (Lazada/Shopee), depends on the situation

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
Ambank Bonuslink Visa Signature = for Petrol as I pump lots of Shell
Ambank Visa Signature = no AF, and lounge access, then keep for telco monthly subscription
RHB Visa Signature = no AF, and this card has the highest CL and lounge access, so keep it for emergency purposes
SCB Simply Cash = apply due to gift
SCB Journey = apply due to gift
MBI Ikhwan A-Mex = 8% CB of online purchase
Affin Duo = Auto debit for insurance (RM1100++ per month)

5. Interested in CC from:
MBB 2 Platinum (But rejected due to MBI Ikhwan just approved within 1 month),
Affin Duo+ (just submit the additional card application)
Public Visa Signature
UOB Prvi Miles Elite
Alliance Visa Infinite
Is there any other good CC? Cashback is preferred, else collect miles also can, that's why I listed out UOB Prvi Miles Elite and Alliance Visa Infinite

6. Others:
if can include insurance better, as my insurance is around RM1800/month, and I already maximize the 3% of Affin Duo
I don't mind using multiple cards to achieve the highest CB or miles collection, as i understood there is no best CC in the market

PBB Visa Signature for the TNB bill (3%), UOB One (can consider either platinum or classic) for petrol+grocery+grab reload + online. The classic is most 'worth', RM500 spend to get RM40 cashback, but if your spending higher can do the platinum instead.
*
Thank you for your reply
It seems like the UOB One card does not really suit my spending habits, but the PBB Visa Signature can be used to pay the TNB bill, which I do not see utilities on the excluded list.
Any good CC can suggest?

may check out UOB One Classic
even not utilising grab, RM 30/ RM 500 ~ 6%; RM 25 instead of RM 50 SST; visa is more widely acceptable than amex; weekday spending eligible for cash back
unless, u could utilise the RM 50 cap of M2P or either 1 of the 3 spending category falls below RM 100/can't meet the RM 500 spending requirement

RHB Shell, if you happen to fill at Shell for RM 417 + RM 2,083 (grocery, e-wallet, insurance)
otherwise, i would pick Affin Duo or Bank Islam Visa Platinum
unless your e-wallet reload is those without fee using cc, the benefit might not worth the effort
*
Bank Islam Visa Platinum seems nice, and no see any insurance in the excluded list, so maybe insurance still eligible for the cash back. Thanks for the recommendation.

yeah, that is what i presume too
but there is one interesting clause in the T&C - 'for personal consumption only' which i wonder how to be identified?
also, theoretically speaking, e-wallet reload might also be eligible under online
*
If using the card to pay company's electricity should be identified as business/commercial consumption.

Indeed, unless they listed out the "online" MCC code, else honestly e-wallets might under online category.

I might just treat this card as Affin Duo Visa, as spent RM1000 can get RM30 CB, quite easy for me.

Just treat it as another Affin Duo. Spent RM1000 can get RM30 CB biggrin.gif

RHB Shell can support Apple Pay and RM100 if it achieves those targets.
RHB Visa Signature can support Apple Pay and enjoy up to 6x complimentary access to selected Plaza Premium Lounge in Malaysia in a calendar year with minimum spend of RM500 and above in the past calendar month to earn access.
However, I don't know whether it's my phone issue. The RHB cannot verify my iPhone 13 Pro, either conventional (2 cards) or Islamic (1 card). I have to call CS and let them verify for me, but everything is good.

. Annual Income: slightly above RM100k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes, or maybe if there is any waiver term

3. Card required for: Insurance auto debit payment, Maxis postpaid bill auto debit payment, Petrol, groceries, cashback on online/physical shopping and dining.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Barcelona Visa, PBB Quantum Visa & Mastercard

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6. Others: Trying to check any types of credit card that suit my spending, roughly RM1k-2k monthly

TQ for your recommendation/guidance.

If you're pumping shell and your expenses can slightly increase to RM2.5K+, then can consider RHB Shell Visa
Moreover, RHB provides 0% cash excess and balance transfer for 12 months for NTB users.

i dont get this.. whats the point of increasing the cb% if the max CB stay the same.. might as well get gold instead of plat/infinite...
*
QUOTE(cybpsych @ Feb 13 2025, 06:30 AM)
card tier placement/level

capping is to manage abuse/risk

for you, just get Gold lo ...
*
Actually can get three if income is eligible since CB is calculated based on a card.

if considering cash back only,
unless the monthly minimum spend RM 500 cannot be achieved, the platinum would be optimal choice
3% cash back: gold minimum spend RM 1,000; platinum minimum RM 500
the 5% on infinite is kind of meaningless when the cap is RM 30

not sure if they come in pairs/dual (visa + mastercard) such as MBB/Affin or whether 1 can be cancelled like PBB
*
Platinum can get RM30 CB on tier 1, and Gold can get RM30 CB on tier 2, of course need to spend RM1000

I just got BIMB Visa platinum today, and will enrol the autopsy (autopay) for the insurance. Let's see when or if the CB will be credited to my account.

May I know you get how long to approve it?
*
I applied and received a call from the Bank another day.
After I submit all required documents, the bank needs to verify my employment status.
The whole process from applying until the card is ready for collection, which is roughly 7-10 days.
But I have been informed I need to walk in to collect and need to do biometric verification as well.

your application experience is same me as well. i applied, submitted documents and biometric verification on 3 March 2025.

However, my biometric verification was done while I collected the card, not before.
