How much is first service cost?

I wanted to install the DVD Audio – Video Navigation (DVD-AVN) System and reverse camera from acc shop, but the SA not encourage me to do so. Because it will void the electrical warranty of the car. Has anyone using new Vios installed it at acc shop?

even useless is the 2014 DVD-AVN GPS unit can't let you scroll through the GPS menu when your car is moving.

The "Favourite" icon need to scroll down menu to access. I feel absolutely dumbfounded with such stupid ICE head unit. mad.gif

mine is second one.. Pioneer set. I checked the map information and it is Malsingmaps. I took out the Micro SD card which is inside the small slot and you need a screw driver to take it out.

The maps file extension is *.dat and not like Garmin map file extension .img

Any one successfult update the map and can share the steps how to update it ?

hi..newbie to this forum
i have a vios trd 3rd gen..
bought in july last year (2014)
i rarely use the car..right now odometer shows 8k km only hahaha

just want to share that i also can hear the tuk2 or knocking sound like u guys said coming from the front part of the car everytime i go on bumps n uneven roads..hurm its very annoying

but i malas la nak send the car to sc to check
because even if they replace it..our roads pun not so good..im afraid the prob will occurs again..

our roads are for trucks n 4x4..not for normal cars..dont u agree? haha

but i have really serious questions..
what will happen if i do nothing about it?..is it dangerous not changing the mounting?..is it just sound or is it something that must be change for safety?..someone

I update mine by downloading Garmin map file .img from openstreetmaps.

Backup the original .img and copy replace with new map file.

The original one is *.dat not *.img. Your model is Panasonic I think.
Mine is from Pioneer. If *.img I have no issue updating it since normally I do update my garmin device from MalFreeMaps.

using adayo player unit.. which kinda good IMO.. so far no problem encounter rather then missing flap cover of USB/memory card/aux port where my kids throw away dunno where had gone..
steering control still can use, but audio quality not as good as OEM player.. GPS is using Papago which can update with papago dealer, the signal really fast which takes only 1-3s to detect satellite
user posted image

the reason i choose this player because wanna keep the OEM looks, amber lighting all over dashboard.. i didnt buy the OEM player because cant see movie while driving.. which quite a disappointment..

is it also normal for the new vios to have very light steering feel? most of the time i cant feel the road through the steering and as such the handling doesnt feel as responsive. especially turning the steering few degrees to the left or right..i totally cant feel if the tires are turning.

it depends on your rim JJ (width)

standard 15' should be coming with 5-6JJ for a stock setup.

The max can go would be 195 but the side would bulge out.

Even with stock tyre CC5, the tyre look bulge out. So I wonder whether can it support 195. If yes, I would like to go for it.

I thought I'm the one who do not properly control the steering during driving.
Also feel like swaying eventhough hold the steering firmly.
The power steering really light (just compare to my previous SAGA).
Time corner mesti rasa ter'buang' especially klu high speed.
Maybe due to the tyre and on this case the width of rim also?
yeke?

I thought I'm the one who do not properly control the steering during driving.
Also feel like swaying eventhough hold the steering firmly.
The power steering really light (just compare to my previous SAGA).
Time corner mesti rasa ter'buang' especially klu high speed.
Maybe due to the tyre and on this case the width of rim also?
yeke?
*
the suspension setup is very soft and high gravity point, sure feels buang la.

and the tyre is only 185.

get ARB installed and use wider tyre to provide more grip.

Planning to apply car loan for Vios E spec, but the rate is 2.63 for 9 years for pbb. any cheaper rate for 69k loan, 9 years?
*
mine was 2.7%, yours is good enough i guess.

Yea... I rather stick with my own Garmin unit. Before that thought all these from HU is much more convenient as I wont bring out the unit all the time.

Dear all, I'd like to know what is the thread size for the Toyota Vios gear knob. I've found my gear knob is slightly too low for me and decided to find something that could extend it higher.

Pic 1: user posted image

Pic 2: user posted image

as far as I know, there's the size of the aluminium steel in diameter of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm, and the thread pattern has different measurements such as 1, 1.25 and 1.5.

So which is the actual size of the gear knob?

hi all taiko, first time post at here as vios owner for 6 years and still counting.
my vios: 09 Vios dugong black E spec
still loving it because for past 6 years problems free.
recently because my gf bought a new car with full accessories. keyless entry, automatic chair adjustment, bluetooth sync with phone to play music and make calls, push start, reverse camera, sunroof makes me so jealous.
i just want to upgrade a little bit lah, any taiko can recommend me a good stereo player that can connect to my phone to play music and make calls, and have reverse camera and very good reputation brand? my budget around rm400-500 together with installation. my location at selayang, rawang. any good accessories shop to recommend?

RM400-500 wont get you any nice double-din HU.

my Sony XAV-65 at RM650+ also so so only. No bluetooth support at all, but reverse cam and USB support. and the sound processing is only 3 band... regretted.. shakehead.gif

helo guys,

need help. Last night, mom drove out the car and some idiot on bike think its wise to speed in public road and hit the right side mirror.

the casing fell off and lost. The mirror still in one piece.

Just wondering, where I could get the case alone?

As there are no other damages beside the casing fell off. I think Id just buy the case and fix it myself.

Do anyone has any spare shop to recommend to?

Its 2015 vios with integrated signal lights.

thanks.

the frame still there, the mirrror still there. everything works fine. Minus its naked. The cover is the only thing I need.

claiming insurance for a mere sidemirror cover is not a good idea I guess?

test drive both and decide on your own.

we can only give comments here.

Honda tends to give a firmer ride whereas Toyota is on the softer side.

In addition, the features of Jazz are much better than Vios.

my sister bought Jazz E spec. After comparing my Vios G Spec against my sister Jazz, interior quality wise, Vios is still better than Jazz.

Yes, the engine noise for Vios is still noisier than Jazz. In term of pick up, Jazz is the winner.

Vios door is easier to close, while Jazz door I felt difficult to close.

Eibach prokit is good in terms of comfort+performance.

H&R and Vogtland are stiff.

Above is based on pairing with stock absorbers, on Ford Focus ride.

I have Ford members used all above except Tien.

for myself, i'm using Eibach ProKit but paired with Bilstein B6 which is heavy duty and much stiffer than stock. Hence, my current ride is sitff+stiff.

Do take note that Vogtland is cheapest among above other brands.

hope this help.

mind sharing where ? install i think no problem. normal wshop can install for 20-50/perspring
if it really improves handling with stock absorber.
would like to give it a try then.

btw anyone here tried chasis foam and stiff ring ? any reviews

for lowered ride, it sure will improved the handling as the centre of gravity point decreased. Do take note that you've compromised the comfort as the road feedback had increased. But since you're pairing with stock absorbers that are generally soft, hence i think its still acceptable.

my Focus had full chassis foamed. The ride is firmer and road feedback greatly increased.

my Vios had stiff ring installed. You can feel that the steering is tighter and the road harshness feel decreased.

hope above comment help.

thumbup.gif thanks for the review. still thinking whether to get the eibach. afraid road comfort would go done the drain.
perhaps just wait amad to give some review.

won't compromise that much.

but do take note that lowering the ride might affect your wheel camber. however, i think Vios don't have this issue as long as long your don't use oversized wheels.

for my Focus, my camber off by -1.5 degree; ended up need to get adjustable camber kit installed at rear to realign back. but, stock Focus already have negative camber hence the case worsen when we lowered it down.

hope this helps.

the sales person said G spec is having merdeka promotion until 31st August, free 7 inch' DVD-AVN and have 5k rebate.

does this kind of promotion always offer by Toyota ?
*
5k is good offer.
But free DVD-AVN will not make you happy.

on all model sharing same springs and absorber , nope only engine and frame is the same.
each latest variant comes with different specs for other parts.

I just browsed Toyota website. It seems they are giving different version of DVD AVN. Based on description, it is better than the previous one.

DVD-AVN (Audio-Video Navigation) System and Reverse Camera with Guide Lines
The 2-DIN Head Unit DVD Player comes with 7" capacitive multi-touch screen incorporating a Tuner, MP3, USB, SD Card Slot, Bluetooth®, HDMI, WiFi & Internet Browser, and Smartphone Connectivity*. Enjoy hands-free safety and convenience with the Voice Recognition and built-in navigation maps for Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei, customised with the Toyota Network. The Reverse Camera displays the rear view with guide lines on the DVD-AVN screen when car is reversing.

For safety reasons, some functions are disabled while the vehicle is in motion.

*Functions availability may vary depending on smartphones. For details, please contact your nearest Toyota showroom.

I believe the time comes from the GPS. So, you can go to your GPS setting and make the changes there.
But only time can be changed, not date.
Since data from GPS, I believe it is accurate.

I'm currently using Osram Nightbreaker for headlamp, unfortunate i tint my car slightly dark and caused low light vision.
Might consider to replace either fog lamp LED or HID.

owh.. yup.. better go with LED/HID foglamp.. no need projector as most projector with bulb is sealed already and u cant replace it with HID bulb.. if not u maybe need to do retrofit projector to ur foglamp if u wanna use HID/LED bulb..

Can't really comment on the roof issue since I never take any ride of batches before. Most of the new batches this year already have one layer of sound proof material installed, the annoying molotin sound should be minimized.

As for engine mounting issue, when go through the speed bump especially those plastic type, u will hear the kok kok sound. This cannot be solved at the moment according SA.

Hi RoxyMunky,

I'm experiencing slight vibration when I press brake pedal after the speed of 40km/h ? Do your experience this in your car ?

I let Toyota SC check on this, according to them my disc rotor is still even and not sure what is the caused of this.

my Vios so far don't have this issue.

normally such vibration incident upon braking is caused by disfigured disc rotor, or the brake caliper piston is not functioning well, or the brake pad itself is not evenly applied to the fittings.

my Focus had this issue earlier on. The front trembles upon aggressive braking from speed around 60kmh down to 10-20kmh... changed the disc rotor and its fine now.

hope above helps.

For the 1k service, I go for Semi Sync Engine oil which make up of total cost RM145.11 (Engine Oil, Gasket, Oil Filter)
I skip for the washer fluid as for me it is not needed.
Above price is exclude labor (Free labor for 1st and 2nd Service)

For the 1k service, I go for Semi Sync Engine oil which make up of total cost RM145.11 (Engine Oil, Gasket, Oil Filter)
I skip for the washer fluid as for me it is not needed.
Above price is exclude labor (Free labor for 1st and 2nd Service)
*
Thanks bro, good to know that. Major service should be triple than that right?

Currently im using honda jazz. Looking for a sedan as of jazz is not enough space for me. I love the new shape of 3rd gen vios.

Compare to honda maintenance and parts looks like toyota is more value for money.

Thanks for all the help

For the latest gen vios, is it normal to feel aircond coming out at the leg side? (for front car's seat) The aircond setting is set to only coming out from top though.

I have asked the SC Agent and he said it is normal. So I just want to check with other vios's user here if they felt the same thing notworthy.gif

they might void your warranty.

my suggestion, send in for 1k service even though not reached yet... doubling the interval service cycle from 1k to 2k is unacceptable.

or, call your SC to check if they allow this special case to only service at 2k mileage.

Vios is a very light car... and if you're on stock wheel size... the excessive braking power would caused understeer.

mt suggestion, get a decent brake pad for additional braking capability.

Hi, please kindly clarify if your K&N refers to part number 33-2930? I have not installed it because this particular model as stated in K&N website *link below* is used on Kia Picanto instead.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/applicatio...px?prod=33-2930

And the reason for me asking if it fits 100% tight without issue on the 3rd gen vios is because some users and mechanics claims that it does not fit 100%.

its a very soft setup... sometimes my family of 4 also kena one. live with it or change to a stiffer absorbers which would definitely void your warranty.

K&N products are design with precision and intended for specified car only.
My K&N for 2nd Gen is 33-2360. If the dimension for 3rd gen air filter is the same with 2nd generation then should fit with no issue.

Yes indeed, that is why I am curious regarding the 3rd gen vios as Speedworks mentioned that the Kia Picanto 33-2930 fits the 3rd gen vios 100% which I am not really keen about it.

However, I will try and compare with the 2nd gen to see if it is exactly same size.

To my understanding, Vios radiator fan has 2 speed mode, but just recently, I discovered my ncp42 Vios does not engage high speed at all but only low speed, now the compressor got sound d and I think that the this is the main culprit. I have tried swapping my ncp93 vios relay to ncp42 vios, still not working. Much appreciated if anyone can provide constructive advice.

Thanks. icon_rolleyes.gif

Never mind, finally solved it by chucking away the low speed relay switch and now it is running high speed all the way.

Budget one leh.. Get kenwood player.. even alpine is selling cheap...
i recently bought alpine for 288 only.. comes with CD and usb.. can control subwoofer also... but 2 RCA lah...Bought from brother's in kelana jaya.. but don't install at there..

If you want.. go to ETONI at Cheras.. Google out Etoni Chris's facebook.. They do a good job..

For me i prefer just listen to music rather than double din.. If double din... very mahal oo...

Cheapest mod is... Buy Single din... get a tablet.. hook it up using Aux in loh...

20K is still too low to use injector cleaner. You can inform the SC not to issue the window washer and other things that you can easily buy from outside which is more cheaper.
Recommend to use injector cleaner every 40K as suggested below if you feel sluggish in acceleration etc...

Petrol Injector Cleaner

common size in the trade is 215/45/17... which fits 7.5JJ rims perfectly.

else, try to look for 7JJ rims and fits in 20/50/17.

but do take note that this setup would distort your ODO reading as manufacturer calibrate it according to stock size 185/60/15.

following is the tyre contact surface conversion table for your kind reference:

Tire Size Equivalent Diameter
215/35R17 23X8.5R17 23"-3.0%

205/40R17 23.5X8.1R17 23.5"-0.8%
215/40R17 23.8X8.5R17 23.8"+0.4%

125/70R17 23.9X4.9R17 23.9"+0.8%
225/40R17 24.1X8.9R17 24.1"+1.7%
205/45R17 24.3X8.1R17 24.3"+2.5%
235/40R17 24.4X9.3R17 24.4"+3.0%
215/45R17 24.6X8.5R17 24.6"+3.8%
275/35R17 24.6X10.8R17 24.6"+3.8%
245/40R17 24.7X9.7R17 24.7"+4.2%
225/45R17 25X8.9R17 25"+5.5%
255/40R17 25X10R17 25"+5.5%

seems like 215/40/17 or 205/40/17 is the best as the gap % is low at -0.8% to +0.4%.

profile tyre of 40... good luck on the comfort point.

hope above info helps.

or.. u can try size 16's as it gives the best equivalent:
Tire Size Equivalent Diameter
205/45R16 23.3X8.1R16 23.3"-1.7%
135/70R16 23.4X5.3R16 23.4"-1.3%

215/45R16 23.6X8.5R16 23.6"-0.4%
195/50R16 23.7X7.7R16 23.7"Equal
185/55R16 24X7.3R16 24"+1.3%
225/45R16 24X8.9R16 24"+1.3%

205/50R16 24.1X8.1R16 24.1"+1.7%
175/60R16 24.3X6.9R16 24.3"+2.5%
195/55R16 24.4X7.7R16 24.4"+3.0%
135/80R16 24.5X5.3R16 24.5"+3.4%
215/50R16 24.5X8.5R16 24.5"+3.4%
245/45R16 24.7X9.7R16 24.7"+4.2%
125/90R16 24.9X4.9R16 24.9"+5.1%
205/55R16 24.9X8.1R16 24.9"+5.1%
225/50R16 24.9X8.9R16 24.9"+5.1%

the middle portion gives range of -0.4% to +1.3%.

best is to go for 195/50/16 in this case.

Guys. Thinking of getting the G specs. Is it worth getting it now or wait for the end of the year? Heard usually there will be some good promotion at that time.

It's depend on you. Year end car sale will have lots of rebate and free gift however when you want to re-sell the car, it will consider one year old even though you bought it at year end.

Hi all,

I am currently trying to choose between Vios J or E variant.
TOYOTA sales adviser said currently they have RM6K discount, and TOYOTA website indicates the following "freebies":

Attached Image
Attached Image

While J variant equip with DVD-AVN, but E variant have an extra item called "Infotainment", so what does this added "Infotainment" gives?

From what the sales adviser told, different between J and E are front fog lamp and electronic retractable side mirror only.
I know these are not all, so I looked at the spec. and noticed a few more differences such as:
  • Turn indicator at side mirror
  • Rear seat 40/60 foldable and arm rest
  • Scuff plates
Besides the items listed above, what else does E variant have while J variant don't?

For the extra few thousands ringgit, I wish to know if I will get something that I will regret if I go for J variant.

Please help and thank you in advanced. notworthy.gif

Wow, DVD-AVN for J spec? that is nice. I bought J spec last July no DVD-AVN plus reverse camera cry.gif but got RM6k rebate.
For me J spec sufficient enough. Besides the small differences with E specs. Even extra few THOUSAND ringgit also is accountable. Can change new wide sport rims to reduce swaying during cornering. As for me icon_rolleyes.gif

bro, if you insist on 17's... following is the best setup:
205/40R17 23.5X8.1R17 23.5"-0.8%
215/40R17 23.8X8.5R17 23.8"+0.4%

do take note that 215/40 or 205/40 is an odd size... hence i guess you need to prepare extra sum of fund for it.

i've found the price at autoworld forum as followed:
Falken ZE522 - RM198 Excellent Speed (Kepong) (Apr-14)
Falken ZE522 - RM180 Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning (Dec-14)
Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002 - RM350 Hin Leong Klang (Mac-15)

Falken is considered entry level tyre hence the cheaper price.. but its dated back in 2014.

if you go with the common size of 215/45/17, your meter reading with be off at +3.8%:
215/45R17 24.6X8.5R17 24.6"+3.8%

of course, you will have plenty of tyre options:
215/45R17
Achilles ATR - RM225 Ah Kit Shah Alam (May-14)
Achilles ATR - RM215 Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning (Sep-14)
Continental MC5 - RM340 Speed Tyre at Batu Gajah, Ipoh (Apr-14)
Continental MC5 - RM320 Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning (Dec-15)
Continental MC5 RM 305 at Hin Leong, Klang (Jan-15)
Falken 453 (Japan) - RM400 Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning (Apr-14)
Falken ZE912 - RM238 Excellent Speed (Kepong) (Apr-14)
Falken ZE912 - RM 220 Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning (Dec-14)
Firestone (Japan) - RM350, Akina Pro Tyre, BM, Penang (Apr-14)
Firestone (Japan) RM 280 at Hin Leong, Klang (Jan-15)
Michelin PS3 - RM405 Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning (Mar-15)

Wow, DVD-AVN for J spec? that is nice. I bought J spec last July no DVD-AVN plus reverse camera  cry.gif  but got RM6k rebate.
For me J spec sufficient enough. Besides the small differences with E specs. Even extra few THOUSAND ringgit also is accountable. Can change new wide sport rims to reduce swaying during cornering. As for me  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi, swaying durung cornering happens only when HARD cornering or normal driving style?

By the way, I forgot to ask, what is that 3 in 1 thing some owners installing to their car?

Thanks!

the default setup is so soft its a tail happy car.

3in1 is the device that provide the following:
1. Central lock via brake or speed limit
2. autofold side mirrors
3. buzzer sound upon car door lock/unlock via your remote

Thanks RoxyMunky, looks like this 3 in 1 device is a must have for Vios and I am so surprised to realized the original setup that the door will not lock when the car start moving... shakehead.gif
Autofold side mirror only suitable for J variant right? Because E or G already have this?

EDIT: forgot to mentioned, I am ok with soft suspension, in fact, I always complain my current national car's stiff suspension, I hate it.
I prefer comfort drive, mostly city driving, I'm not the racer type of driving style.

Yes, Vios don't have traction control at all.

Just went to Toyota this morning, the sales assistant can't make it to meet me so he asked his colleague to look at my car to evaluate the price.
When I asked the guy some questions about Vios, he seems not knowledgeable because I think he is from technician department? He said I better ask sales person... tongue.gif

By the way, rear seat 60/40 folding is quite useful to my usage, may I know if E variant have it and J variant confirmed don't?

it could be because of the City weight distribution is not as even as Vios, I assume.

what by you mean "specialized to clean engine"?

is there something wrong with your engine?

Vios engine has been in the trade for 10+ years, hence any decent workshop knows the workaround.

as for lubricant, its really depends on your budget and requirement. for daily driving, semi-synth is more than enough at 5k interval change.

it really depends on your preference and trial+error on which engine oil suits you.

at the moment, my Vios still maintained by SC, hence all follow their OEM recommendation.

As for my other ride, im using Total QUARTZ 7000 SN 10W40, and change at every 5k interval service.

Hi guys,

I owned a 2nd Gen Vios. Currently my ODO meter almost 80K and need to undergo the Major Service as per recommended. The cost at Toyota SC is around 1.2 - 1.4K as per told by SA. Is there any other option for me to send my car at normal service workshop instead SC so that i could reduce the cost with the same services?

Any suggestion for the workshop in KL or Malacaa area guys? Thanks ya

Highway >50 : Use petron and caltex. Normally can get around 550KM above for 37L. Average speed about 120km/h to 140km/h
City + Highway : Use Petronas or Shell. Normal I can get around 480KM for 37L.

For week day, mostly is the way go to and back from work. Traffic mostly is the slow moving. Except weekend, very smooth traffic with 70% highway and 30 city drive.

the best fuel consumption I got 12.2km/l. All these figure is when I fuel up petrol with Petron.

Recently I fuel up BHP where I gain some fuel consumption which is 12.4km/l.

Anyone who change to Iridium Spark Plug, will it help in fuel consumption ?

i bought secondhand vios 1st gen.. what i do is just changing new lubricant oil. is there any issue for 1st gen vios that i need to take note since u guyz have alot problem with brand new vios.. i feel abit cautions about my car durability
*
I was also in the same situation, I changed my driveshaft rubber boot (check if it is in good condition cuz my unit both sides has torn), automatic fluid (old oil is very dark) & fan belt. Remaining problems are power steering minor oil leakage & left absorber as well.

I washed my aircond filter and it is now cold and better wind power. So it could be one of the reasons.

This is what I do, I found it in the inner part of glove box removing glove box (this is a good guide to remove it)

1, then take the filter out
2. use brush to brush away the dust & residuals
3. take pail water mix with washing powder
4. soak in it for an hour
5. take the filter out and use water shower head and squirt it through the water until it is clean
6. done

Or the steps above are troublesome, replace a new one. thumbup.gif

I wash mine every 10k, won't change it unless it the fibre is torn then no choice. It is important to wash because if your filter is not doing the job, then it is going to affect your coil. Coil no good then require dashboard dismantled out, I would totally want to avoid this.

So far my NCP93 is doing good since new as I exercise washing quite frequently. Now, NCP42 which I firstly bought a month ago was very dirty. Guess the pre-owner was not aware of the importance sweat.gif

sifu-sifu sekalian, i mirrored WAZE from my smartphone to the DVD-AVN, but the AVN blocks it when driving... sad.gif

according to Toyota, "With Miracast, selected navigation apps on your smartphone can be mirrored on the screen and used while driving."

any idea, which navigation app does the AVN support?? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Wow... looks like you got even better deal with the purchase. biggrin.gif

Your car must be very cool looking with the body kit installed.

By the way, what is the usual "normal" price for a full body coating?

if u wanna try wider use 195/60/15.. ur speedometer speed still the same with GPS speed, as for mine (which using 195/55/15 consider undersized) the speedometer speed is not the same as GPS, different around 10-11km/h

Hi all.

Anyone ever hear a short beep about 2 seconds after stopped the engine while driver site door is opened? The car is with smart entry system, and this only happened intermittently, hard to know what caused the beep sound triggered.

I'm very sure that the gear is at P and no light is turned on. After the beep sound, if try to close the door, open again, can't simulate that short beep sound anymore. Anyone have idea what's that beep sound meaning?

I had make the complaint about the Kruk Kruk sound and they help me to claimed it by changing it to last generation of engine mounting.

I (intermittently) got this weird beeps too... tongue.gif

I am sure gear were on P, all light were OFF, side mirror closed, air-cond were OFF etc...

Only not so sure if the steering lock were engage or not when I open the driver side door. Normally when we open driver side door, I can hear the built-in steering lock engaging. The only thing I suspect was maybe the steering was not rest properly for the lock to engage so the system warn us by the beep?

Other than that, I really can't think of anything that I've not done properly. sad.gif

Other than that, I really can't think of anything that I've not done properly.  sad.gif

the beep sound will comeout when you stop the engine while opening driver door... u cn try off engine with door opening, then click the rubber button at door panel that switch.. steering lock motor will lock and beep sound off

For my case, the engine has been stopped. When open the driver door, sometimes can hear a short about 2 seconds beep sound. It's happening intermittently, and I believed the reason could be as mentioned by G K Lai that the steering not in proper position for locking.

Just report to SC regarding my "knocking" sound issue.
Need to leave car for them to record the sound.
After that, they suspected the sound came from my front lower arm.
Now need to wait the spare part to arrive.

Hi all sifu owner , please let me ask about the Eco indicator on vios j.
I just got my new vios j this month. The manual says that the Eco indicator will on if I drive on low speed , but regardless low or high , I didn't saw it light on before while driving sad.gif
I only will saw it on while start engine for 3 to 4 sec only .after that it will disappear .

I am sure that ,
- Eco mode is on at the odometer long press
- drive on slow speed or normal speed , never over 90km

I just done my 1000 service today and the service guy say the light did on , only on at low speed , but after I get back the car I don't see it on .

Am I misunderstanding something or this is my car problem ?
Thanks for advance !

Long press at odo meter, then Eco on or Eco off will come out when you press it again..
Eco will light up when press lightly on pedal, gear at D and any speed.. I tested 150kmh, still light up
Actually nothing help, just light up and no light up..
Not like honda city got Eco mode

Really thanks for the reply andyshim89 !
In this case i think my Eco lights are broken or something.
I have double check the Eco settings is on, and my speeds are 60-90 , and pedal are stepped light.
I don't see the lights on even once. I only saw it on when i push start the engine only for 3-4 seconds.
I understand the eco indicator is just for info only but i think i need to go toyota and claim about this since this is new car so i need everything is working.

Thanks a lot for your reply !

I need more power as my way back home is uphill road and many corners to tackle.

So far I m very satisfied with the acceleration speed.

i think the Eco light is just a freaking led light to trigger if you got accelerate hard or not... no genius invention here.

disabled it after i knew the way to turn if off. The blinking is annoying.

after disabled, i see no difference in performance and fc.

think again, Toyota never bang hard on this so called "ECO" mode at all. so, don't expect miracle from it.

If reduce 50%.. Original vios 100++hp, reduce 50%, left 50hp.. I was thinking how you accelerate to 100kmh, kancil faster than you

Hi everyone. Im new here.
I just bought Vios G recently last month.
My car sometime got slightly screeching sound from brakes or wheel.. I think lah...
It only happens sometimes.. (only happen rarily when driving slowly in park) when turning left / right, going downhill / uphill..

Currently waiting for car to reach 1k mark for 1st time complaint & service around this month.

Questions:
Is it normal for new car to behaving this sound?

I just bought Vios G recently last month.
My car sometime got slightly screeching sound from brakes or wheel.. I think lah...
It only happens sometimes.. (only happen rarily when driving slowly in park) when turning left / right, going downhill / uphill..

Currently waiting for car to reach 1k mark for 1st time complaint & service around this month.

Questions:
Is it normal for new car to behaving this sound?
*
Yup. Normal for new cars. Just need to give it a drive for few weeks it should be gone.

As far as I know, the panic alarm - trigger alarm by remote control feature has been removed on new vios. Think all new car from Perodua also removed such feature. This is to ensure that in case you lost the key, someone can't easier find your car with your remote control.

RM300+ is freaking expensive from SC....

just pad around RM90-140 only if buy from outside.

labour cost around RM30-50.

all in should be around RM200 only.

try to look around.

Once a year fro service is fair enough. Also depends if it's needed. Regular check or change the filter is a must. Filter is hidden inside the dash glove box.

My air cond was service recently eventhough it's still cold. But it has a a sour and moldy smell when the aircond is turn on. That smell originates from the dryer receiver. The dryer receiver contains some sort of silica and was bit dirty. If your aircond don't have any funny smell when u turn on, it's not the time for servicing yet.

Anyone faced this problem before?

My car remote suddenly no response from car.. Even tried the second unit remote. Thought its battery Kong.. On car I mean.

Tried to start car.. No problem at all.. So battery is not the issue. Frequency match misaligned maybe?

Called SC, they will call m back to help troubleshoot.

Will update in due course.

Mine is G model. The keyless version. Few months back, I was unable to start my engine even when I pressed my start button a few times, until I placed my key next to it. I thought it was battery issue, tried with second unit and had the same issue.
Mentioned to the SC , They said they couldn't tell me what caused the issue cannot be recreated so they reset and realigned the frequencies.

So far no issue.

hmm.. after 2 days, my alarm is OK now.

guess there's frequency jammer by some culprit in my area, planning to steal cars perhaps.

my neighbor Myvi and Kancil alarm also not working in the last few days.

already raise this issue to my neighbors to watch out.

hopefully no theft case...

I have change mine to NGK iridium. Notice the change is instantaneously in term of pick up. More vroom vroom power smile.gif

For fuel wise slightly improves 13km/l. I don't think Toyota have warranty for spark plug as it is consider wear and tear item.

need some advice.

i recently serviced my vios (2014 version) at toyota subang, 40k mileage, so i did tyre alignment and balancing, he also told me to switch rear to front and front to rear, so i said ok.

next thing i know, now when i drive, once i hit 80km/h, the tyre starts to have a noisy sound, and i can "feel" the tyre. when i called him, he said it's normal when one first switch the rear and front tyre.

is it true? or it could be something else?

SC protocol to change battery 1 year battery life. You can change outside. No setting will change at ECU accept your clock.

I am new vios owner and what i have found out is, under the vios body it have a metal bar to protect things to hit the body. When you go too fast on a bump, your car body will jump low due to the spring and that metal bar will hit the bump. If you are fetching 4-5 people,it will still hit even going slow due to heavy. But don't worry as it looks like that metal is quite hard and it won't damage so easily. ( Last time when i go too fast on a bump and i hear that hitting sound, i went down and check the metal have no problem and somehow the bump on the road has cracked blink.gif )

Just got back from 1K Service also complaint to SC bout screeching sound from Front Left Wheel.
They found a tiny pebbles got stuck between Dust Plate & Disc. sweat.gif
Got a tiny gap hole in dust plate but SA says its still good to run.

Also to reconfirmed - 1K & 5K will subject to use the Compulsory Mineral Oil provided.. can only change for 10K Service due.
hmm.gif trying to conserve the engine for long run i guess...

Mine got no such issue with small or sharp high bumps.

But I met this issue when I was in KL trying to exit a Hotel Carpark. The exit was a high slope up with about 110degrees angle at the exit. I had 4 people in the car though.

Actually this is quite expected because some of the places in KL are designed terribly due to limited land spaces smile.gif

Hello, anyone here knew how can I fit a 5 lug rim to my NCP93? I'm still using the standard rim. Saw lot of people either tebuk or put spacer? I'm thinking of putting spacer but heard stories that it wobble. Any experience?

One more thing anyone knew where to replace the alarm? I think the original one is from Cobra/Meta, but been quoted very unreasonable price from the service center.

oic... guess it would be 16' and above rims then.

yeap. 5 lugs mainly for bigger car with bigger rims.

normally 1.8L and above cars have 5 lugs wheel setup.

thats why Vios is 4 only.

by adding spacer or convert from 4 lugs to 5 lugs, scared it will affect ur handling and turning radius.. those who's drill a hole to widen the hole to make way for different PCD, scared it will not nicely fit and thus create unwanted vibration during high speed..

replace alarm is quite a hassle and u surely will void ur car warranty.. there's no way u can replace it without cutting a wire.. it is expensive so its difficult to copy or whatsoever to overwrite it..

I bought a second hand Vios 2014, the ODO clocked at 12000km. Check the service record, apparently previous owner din send in at 10000km, straight send the card to Toyota SC for service.

after done service, why the service center tell me to go back to service at 22000km? not according to the service booklet?

Hi guys, i booked and paid down payment for Vios J last week. This is my first new car i ever bought in my life. I have sat in previous Vios before so i did not even test drive 2015 Vios as the people around me are happy with their older cars and i tot they should ride similarly.

Going thru this thread, i feel scared. The problems mentioned here is it common for all Vios or certain units? eg engine got sound when pass bump.

SC is really expensive huh. I cant wait for warranty period to finish then i can bring the car to cheaper and more trusted regular mechanic outside.

I am an audio person so, i don't think im patient enough to wait 3 years to upgrade the sound system. If i change HU, add DSP, amps, change speaker, speaker cable and door sound absorbtion which warranty is voided? lolz

After install greber absorber there is gap between the top mount and car body. Is it normal for performance absorber?

the screw thread for performance absorber is shorter than kayaba. Already tighten to the max can't go down further.

I am an audio person so, i don't think im patient enough to wait 3 years to upgrade the sound system. If i change HU, add DSP, amps, change speaker, speaker cable and door sound absorbtion which warranty is voided? lolz

Hi, all i can say is depend on your luck. I also bought vios E 3rd gen last year November and all is working well for me until now *touch wood*. For me, with this kind of price, it is good enough and economical. It's really depend on your luck and yourself toward your lovely car expectation.

For SC, after 2nd SC at Toyota, I look for outside trusted mechanic who i always went to. For warranty part, i think within one year better do not modify anything, you can do it after confirm all is well and working nicely.

Thanks guys. Yeah, i think i would wait a year to make sure all is working properly before i change anything. Coming from Atos (8-9km/Liter), i really hope Vios more fuel economical.

So after the first 2 service, i can find my regular mechanic without hurt the warranty? I have 2 regular mechanic, one of which handles a lot of supercars in my town.

Vios not really a good fuel economy car. Vios have 42 litre vs Honda City have 40 litre fuel tank.
For my case, From full tank until the light is blinking, the best I can go is around 430km with the mixture of city (50%) and highway (50%) driving
