Hi all.

Anyone ever hear a short beep about 2 seconds after stopped the engine while driver site door is opened? The car is with smart entry system, and this only happened intermittently, hard to know what caused the beep sound triggered.

I'm very sure that the gear is at P and no light is turned on. After the beep sound, if try to close the door, open again, can't simulate that short beep sound anymore. Anyone have idea what's that beep sound meaning?

For my case, the engine has been stopped. When open the driver door, sometimes can hear a short about 2 seconds beep sound. It's happening intermittently, and I believed the reason could be as mentioned by G K Lai that the steering not in proper position for locking.

As far as I know, the panic alarm - trigger alarm by remote control feature has been removed on new vios. Think all new car from Perodua also removed such feature. This is to ensure that in case you lost the key, someone can't easier find your car with your remote control.

Just send your car to SC for checking. Mine having similar issue before, service center needs to dismantle the whole dashboard to check and fix. Based on the report, it's due to the airbag cable knocking to the dashboard.

That's what I'm worry also... but so far mine seemed OK. Depends on the skill level of the technician i think.

I'd the similar experience previously, think accidentally pressed the unlock button on remote while the key is at ACC or ON position. If not mistaken, try to do the same again, turn the key to ACC (or ON) position, when press the Unlock on remote control. See can get the sound back or not... biggrin.gif

I can't exactly remembered how I did that previously. Following are method from "http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/61-2nd-generation-2005-2015/298111-turning-off-beeps-when-using-remote-lock-unnlock.html". Maybe you can give a try before send it to SC:

1. Open the driver's door, and insert the key into the ignition. Leave the door open.
2. Remove the key from the ignition, and within 5 seconds, re-insert the key and then turn the ignition to ON.
3. Wait at least 10 seconds, but less than 20 seconds. After waiting, press a button on the remote twice. Press the same button two times - don't press two different buttons. The system will acknowledge with a beep if you did it right.

No. 3 is normal for EPS.
No. 4 happening on my wife 2006 Vios, but my 2015 Vios seemed dont have this sound, don't know why also.

My Vios 2015 also having similar issue, when a bit faster to cross road bump, can hear the sound also. Don't know what's the reason also. For my case definitely it's not during rainy day.
