You should consider HLB Essential (unlimited 1% cash rebate on everything except petrol) instead of OCBC Titanium. OCBC Titanium is not worth carrying at all, just my 2 cents
*
Actually for u all to consider HLB Essential, why not HLB Fortune? After hitting max CB from MBB2Amex, this should could be the next card if your balance spending is high (>2000).

Yeah, it's too early to be happy..
and according to t&c, they need to give only 21 days notice if they want to change the benefits.

Yes, and they really calculate exactly 21 days to announce. Too late by then. cry.gif
That said, I will not spend unnecessarily just because of the changes. tongue.gif

Most probably maintain the cashback on all spendings on Amex, but cutting down the cashback %? Maybe down to 2-3%?

Because for me and wife, we have our spendings spread across 2 x Wise and 2 x MBB2, that is 4k monthly spending already, so HLB Essential is just a back up, won't qualify for the minimum RM2000 per month

Good to know that. I actually rarely log into this forum, but once I read about this on FB, immediately logged in here for more info.
On the same note, I don't expect this 5% weekend rebate to really last since it does not make economic sense to Maybank. From each transaction, they are only getting 3.25% from retailers.

Based on statistical data, approximately 50% of card holders make the full payment every month. Only about 20% will make the minimum payment (this is where the bank will get interest from the cardholders).

Assuming the 50% group who makes prompt payment squeezes this 5% weekend rebate to the max, with not much additional spending (average monthly bill is RM3k), Maybank will be just about neutral from serving this large group of card members. That's a lot of money to serve this group in terms of operations and marcom materials, not to mention all the financial cost that is involved (interest free period).

Just saying, that sooner or later, this 5% weekend rebate will collapse unless the ecosystem can support it. Perhaps more card members that will default on the other side so that they can make more money? LOL

what if they are doing it the same as Ikhwan, 5% CB only for groceries and petrol(either 2 replaced by Dining), no 5x points, only difference, applicable for Saturday and Sunday

I don't think there are 50% group who makes prompt payment squeezes this 5% weekend rebate to the max. Out of 10 people I know, only 1-2 know this 5% CB. And I think most of the ppl even own this card, they also not care about the 5% cash rebate max cap, they will just swipe whatever to this card either on weekday or weekend.
In Malaysia, no much people will count every cents, they get the credit card just for convenience and swiping only, most of them totally dont know what is the card benefits. That's the reason many people owe alot of credit card debts..

Group of people who focus on the credit card features and count every single cents are all from lowyat forum here..haha..

I guess credit card business is tough... one by one cutting their features.
Use to be OCBC cut from 5% to 1% and now cut even further.
This maybank don't know when will revised.
The next top CB card is HL Wise card....

I foresee HL and other bank will follow also...haha..
they will look at the response of mbb strategy, before decide this....
Bank profit was dropping quarter per quarter, this maybe their ways to cut cost to maintain higher profit margin.

Yeah, I think it will still be revised but just the matter of time and terms that will be applied later.

Hi EVERYONE...

I have to retraced back my statement. A minute ago, Maybank representative called me and CONFIRMED that 5% rebate on AMEX will only be applicable for DINING expenses only STARTING 1ST AUGUST 2015.

Conclusion: Will cancel the card since it does not offer petrol rebates anymore.

i think for now, it's better to just wait and see. CS may not be aware of their current management plan, so whatever they tell us may not be the latest news.
