hi guys, wanna double confirm if the amex can only be used to pay maxis and TNB only?
I tried for streamyx but it didn't appear for amex.
Thank you.
*
MAXIS and TNB Sure boleh.
Streamyx no idea, but I think should be ok as I paid both unifi and telekom bill(hometown fixed line) every month.

Hi guys, probably not the right thread but since it does concern Maybank, just have a question.

Is it true that there is a promo going on now where Maybank is giving out free Visa/Mastercard + American Express CC?
I got a call from them (03-22046688) earlier this morning regarding this. It sounded like a scam, but then again I had no CC with Maybank nor did the person asked me anything regarding of my bank acc. no.
Only said I was eligible for the promo.

Called Maybank customer service and they did say that there is a promo like that going on right now, but they cannot confirm the number as it is a telesales line or something?

Any info regarding this will be appreciated.
*
Bro, that is not promo..that is pre-approve card offer to you..If you want just accept it, they will issue it for you, you need not to do anything. You can request them send the card to nearest branch or mailing address.
I had received maybank pre approve card call since 8 years ago, that time was mbb visa classic card when i just worked for 8 months, salary auto credit into mbb accts ,

sad...why maybank do such things? you are top bank in Malaysia, even bank negara forced you to lower down the merchant fees, but rm50 per credit card members should be a pinch of your total net profit (few b)....
I thought maybank was generous in term of campaign, cash back, which made them no 1 in CCs....but now why their management made a such stupid move to lose their existing loyal customer...

really shit for me this time, dont know how to settle with my future Unifi, TNB, maxis bils which every month is about rm500-rm700.
My PB VS, CIMB Cash Rebate application were rejected few months ago due to high commitment...
Maybe have to try UOB vox or HL wise card soon cry.gif cry.gif

the problem is not many earning rm100k pa. if you are qualified,   just go for it. smile.gif
*
even you qualified for 100kpa, but these few years bank negara strict rule caused the bank measure your credit card application according to normal loan application.
If debt ratio to net income is >65~75%, chance to get reject is very high... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

So for high commitment ppl, please clear some of the outstanding loan. Oh yea, outstanding amount from balance transfer is consider as commitment as well <-- according to banker

Good to know that. I actually rarely log into this forum, but once I read about this on FB, immediately logged in here for more info.
On the same note, I don't expect this 5% weekend rebate to really last since it does not make economic sense to Maybank. From each transaction, they are only getting 3.25% from retailers.

Based on statistical data, approximately 50% of card holders make the full payment every month. Only about 20% will make the minimum payment (this is where the bank will get interest from the cardholders).

Assuming the 50% group who makes prompt payment squeezes this 5% weekend rebate to the max, with not much additional spending (average monthly bill is RM3k), Maybank will be just about neutral from serving this large group of card members. That's a lot of money to serve this group in terms of operations and marcom materials, not to mention all the financial cost that is involved (interest free period).

Just saying, that sooner or later, this 5% weekend rebate will collapse unless the ecosystem can support it. Perhaps more card members that will default on the other side so that they can make more money? LOL
*
I don't think there are 50% group who makes prompt payment squeezes this 5% weekend rebate to the max. Out of 10 people I know, only 1-2 know this 5% CB. And I think most of the ppl even own this card, they also not care about the 5% cash rebate max cap, they will just swipe whatever to this card either on weekday or weekend.
In Malaysia, no much people will count every cents, they get the credit card just for convenience and swiping only, most of them totally dont know what is the card benefits. That's the reason many people owe alot of credit card debts..

Group of people who focus on the credit card features and count every single cents are all from lowyat forum here..haha..

I guess credit card business is tough... one by one cutting their features.
Use to be OCBC cut from 5% to 1% and now cut even further.
This maybank don't know when will revised.
The next top CB card is HL Wise card....
*
I foresee HL and other bank will follow also...haha..
they will look at the response of mbb strategy, before decide this....
Bank profit was dropping quarter per quarter, this maybe their ways to cut cost to maintain higher profit margin.

Pebble so should be US site I think...
But then again a lot of other sites are also not based in Malaysia and I have never faced this before.
*
Saturday 3am Malaysia time?
then US shopping site time surely is on Friday time...
It should be US merchant site captured transaction date (which is friday time) to their db..then they just posted to bank with their recorded time..
Bank wouldn't waste time do conversion, they will just follow merchant reported time.

Yup, Saturday 3am Malaysia time.

I've called Maybank up and they asked me to send an email to them. Hopefully they will approve the case.

Have to be more careful next time when dealing with overseas site  sweat.gif

No worries, I think they will approve your case since not your fault also...maybe just need few more time follow up only..
i still believe maybank is good to customer, small money they are willing/able to spend to retain your loyalty to them..

u can call CS for temporary credit limit increase, just tell them ur going oversea, temp increase will take immediate effect for certain period.

permanent CL increase however, took longer time to approve, at least 2 weeks for my past experience.
*
you are wrong..temp increase also need approval...not surely will get immediately. maybe faster approval than permanent increase.
this happen to me on last few months before i went overseas, i called them 1 day before I went overseas, they advise next time please call earlier to request for this temp increase.
Then, 1 weeks++ later, I only received a physical letter stated my temp increase has been approve...
zzz, but I am not sure when is the approval date, and I didnt use mbb card during the trip also, I spent all into OCBC cards.
