Introduction
Nintendo Switch is basically the latest hardware device from Nintendo, supposedly to be the third pillar alongside with 3DS and Wii U, but we all know it meant to replace both. Why? Because it's a hybrid device at its core.

Switch and Play
As it's a hybrid device, there's 3 main gameplay mode:
- TV mode
By putting the main switch unit on the dock and detaching the Joy-con, you can play it like any normal home console system
- Handheld mode
Featuring 6.2 inch IPS screen, you can easily play it without connecting to tv
- Table-top mode
Thanks to detachable Joy-con controller and a kickstand, you can just play it without restrained by tv or being stucked holding the console like a handheld. Just put the switch on some table and play it like a normal console

Joy-Con
- An evolution of Wiimote
- Features traditional input button like analog sticks, shoulder buttons, face buttons, directional buttons
- Each joy-con can be used as single controller, where you can SHARE THE JOY with someone else in order to play local co-op games
- Left joy-con features capture button that can capture compressed, lossy JPEG screenshot that can be shared to the social media. In future updates, you can record the gameplay
- Right joy-con have an IR Motion Camera, which is useful when playing jankenpon as it can detects the shape of your fist, whether you do rock, paper or scissor
- There's NFC reader directly above the analog stick on right joy-con, where it's used for the overpriced amiibo. Yeah, you need to tap amiibo on top of the analog stick
- Both joy-con features gyroscope, accelerometer and also HD Rumble. HD Rumble is so high-def to the point where people can related the vibration to an empty glass getting filled with ice cubes

Base on the image when Iwata was talking, it looks like probably something new that won't disturb the 3DS or Wii U.


That makes more sense to me.. It's too early to release a new Wii as well as a new handheld.

yep. from how Iwata said during the conference, NX sounds like it will be the third pillar of Nintendo dedicated hardware. but at the same time, we cannot rule out the possibility of it replacing any previous hardware line. For example, DS line was planned as the third pillar, but the general reception towards it cause DS to straight away "kill" Game Boy line

It'll be perfect for me if they do. I don't have a smartphone yet.

My humble NX wish list:
(i) Take over WiiU's gamepad function. Gamepad not being sold in retail makes me afraid to use the WiiU.
a. Without the gamepad, i can't enter Settings. This makes storage management impossible, unable to set up network connection, etc.
b. Sometimes my Pro Controller is not responsive. The mouse icon will drift either to the left or right...
c. I can't switch off my gamepad and gamepad will switch on once WiiU is powered on. It's the opposite of Sony's DS4. DS4 unable to switch off the light bar but can switch off the controller. Gamepad can switch off display but cannot completely switch off unless i put it far away from the WiiU.

I will gladly buy 2 units of NX just for this feature.

(ii) Share HDD with WiiU and 3DS. I want to have all my digital downloads in one HDD.... Even better if i can store it in a PC.

(iii) Have a Ethernet port. Another method to connect to the Internet will be a bonus.

must be at least a VR. i cant think any gaming technology possible between motion and VR or beyond VR.

Is always a better choice to play online with LAN cable.

I believe it's a new console. Since the WiiU is Nintendo's worst selling console in history, it's time for a new console.

I have no regret for Wiu U though. As long as those Mario games keeps coming...i am hoping for a SM Galaxy 3 before the NX launch. One final hurrah for the WiiU.

Everyone is jumping on the VR bandwagon, I hope Ninty isn't

VR is like 3D, just a temporary gimmick, and very soon the hype will past and you'll be left with a underused VR headset with minimal games to play on

I wish for NX? go back to it's traditional console root, and don't tie your digital games physically to a machine

NX will be a handheld. No one expects handhelds to have a long shelf life, another reason why Nintendo released NN3DS XL, which has a minor spec upgrade and 2DS, a downgrade from the 3DS.

WiiU will stay in the market until every home in Japan has 4k TV sets.

So....not a WIIU replacement? But rebranded WIIU for emerging markets? Doesn't makes sense to make a new console for these market...it should be able to play existing library games. Auto-winrar.

This thing would probably take another 2-3 years to be released. So I guess it could be replacing the Wii U entirely.

Question, game will have region lock meh? I though USA player can splatoon Japanese player in multiplayer?

game has no region lock, but not sure about the servers
probably will be the same like other consoles, ie: if you're using US account, then you'll be playing on US servers with mostly US players

cross server MP battles tends to end up in tears & frustrations, pings tends to be pretty high when playing with players on the other side of earth

This is just a concept of Nintendo Switch VR, but isn't it amazing? Wonder if its possible.

Going to down under in June, was planning maybe grabbing one there
but upon seeing their price after conversion, aiks!
we are not the only one suffering from expensive switch

Whole point of preordering early is for neon! Honestly Neon looks ugly from my first look at the console, still going for neon regardless.
Grey looks like those china knock offs android console. Neon looks more fun.

and stuck with playing in Japanese even if you buy English region games, like botw. not that I care much since I rarely plays in English lately, but some ppl that import from japan (just to get cheaper console) might be pissed off if this is the case lol

anyway, from recent july devkit document leak it is known that the input language is independent of system language, so at least keyboard isn't locked. too bad it doesn't goes on detail at the language option in system settings

oh right silly me for not stating the correct case situation.
my guess it'll be per game basis; game that is Multilanguage but no language select in option (like botw which I was referring to but forgot to mention) = affected by system language while game with single language or with language select = not affected by system language

beware of this game shop, they will not honor the pre-order price if the price sudden increase by maxsoft
most of us already got burn by them during the nintendo classic mini pre-order

Beware of these shops. They won't honor you the preorder price if any problems occured and they don't care about whether there's enough stock for you.
Also no neon bundle = no buy!

I ordered online from their website - sadly I'm #117, so no Neon... I'm JB based, so will collect from their HQ. I read from several people that they first selected postage, but when received the email, they selected self collect from retail shop - and will be eligible for the RM100 voucher.

the problem is they have two branch, one at johor one at kl, proceed for Johor for self collect already confirmed can. But i called last few days they said cannot collect at KL Sunway branch

Beware of fake cards, some fake cards have bad read/write cycle. So your card end up dying very fast. Try buy from trusted reseller

After serious consideration... Guess will not order the console first and wait for the review and the first batch to try out.
I will be at Osaka from 21st till 29th if really that tempting will just grab it there.

Why wait for console review? Console review are some of the most pointless stuff to read.
Phones I understand because there's yearly revision, but console is at least a 5~6 years cycle.
If you truly enjoy Nintendo game, you will eventually get one regardless. But if the considering factor is because of the Maxsoft bundle bs, then I understand, waiting is definitely the best thing to do if you can.

The point is, no matter how terrible the console is, it plays Nintendo games!

not to mention they also involved in another console fiasco recently, the PS4Pro pre-order
till now, they are still unable to deliver even a single unit to those who pre-oredered, while other stores can get at least a few units

so, my advice? stay far far away from them

Becoz impulse order now is on the second batch arrival which will be late march the time I am in Japan, so if i order now i also wont get to play it till i come back from Japan, so just wait for u guys who get it the first batch review, if so tempting cannot wait, i will buy a Breath of The Wild and bring it to japan once get console there, start playing there and the flight back malaysia
