I don't see why they are fake shop, just that why bother with going through so much trouble just to save that few ringgits. Sometimes paying premium price in a shop with good service is easier. If you have any problems, easier to solve too.

Previously lesson learned for me was PS4 Pro. GemFive had it for RM200 cheaper, so I thought what could possibly go wrong. That was the first and last time I will buy from game shops that I don't trust. Impulse and HeavyArms is my go-to.

It wasn't really the fact that they couldn't get enough stock, it's their response and how they handle it. Yes Sony Malaysia was behind all of these for not securing sufficient stock, but the way impulse/heavyarms is handling the situation compared to other shops from 11street or gemfive is what pisses me off.
Asked them when can we get the stock, they say on launch because Sony allocated a lot of stocks for them this time, 200 units. Blindly taking preorder despite other bigger shops stopped taking order to prevent stuff like these happens. Near launch suddenly announce no stock at all, have to wait for a month, then 2 months and 4 months. Ask about what queue am I in, they get frustrated because too many people asking them. What kind of service is that. And of course, shops like Impulse is honoring their customer 1 free game for that case. The shop even told me to refund if I'm not happy, so I did what they told me to do.
I'm from penang too, therefore customer service is even more important if there's any problem. Try communicating with an unknown shop that is from KL, you will wish that you've paid that extra RM100.
I love shops like Impulse or HeavyArms because of their fast response.
