Yes, I remembered receiving a promotional call from Maxis about upgrading my line to a higher tiered one just about 1 week back. They seems to be very aware of subscriber's contract ending soon and will keep pushing to get you tied up again by renewing your contract.

Worst there are even cases when a competitor ISPs who would call up and offer you to switch over which makes you wonder how they got access to Maxis's customer accounts.

Don't know if it's true or possible, if you refuse the offer you'll see weird things happening to your line like your fibre modem(ONT) getting miscapped once in a while, line quality deterioration and increased downtimes.

That's why I maintain my dependence on Malaysian telco services as simple as possible.

My contract is ending this month and I'm still contemplating to switch back to UniFi.

I was from UniFi and came to Maxis due to the higher speed and lower price then.

Me too received promotional calls with rm20 discount for a year if upgraded to higher package, without any contract.

I asked her to call me again when they are willing to bundle in a free 50" TV biggrin.gif

Hi Guys... need some advice here.

I recently changed my internet from Maxis Astro bundle to a standalone one because my parents decided to cancel Astro.
I applied for the Maxis home fibre, they sent some technician to install with a new router.
It's been a month, and I felt that the connection gets disconnected intermittently - because I am still working from home I can tell that my internet disconnected as my VPN will have a pop up that it is disconnected and reconnecting.

I called Maxis, they sent someone over.
The technician said there is nothing wrong with my internet, but my disconnection issue is probably my room is not near the router.
He explained that I never experience in the past as now we have 5g signal, so there could be interference as there are 2 signals being transmitted (2.4g and 5g)
He suggested me to get wifi booster to get a better signal.

I did some reading on wifi extender, mesh network, and also get to know that routers may also affect the connection.
So I would like to ask if anyone had similar issue, and what would be the best solution?

TL/DR version:
I experience intermittent disconnection using Maxis home fiber plan.
I stay double story, router installed in living room. My room is on 1st floor far behind.
Maxis technician suggest wifi extender - wanna ask if you had similar issue and your suggested solution.

There are only my parents and I at home, I don't really need very canggih solutions as they are not very tech-savy. I just need to work with smooth internet in my room.
In case you suggest me to work closer to the router, my job requires some privacy and my router is installed near the TV.

Any comments is very much appreciated.  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Invest on some good routers or try to upgrade you plan to 100mbps or if you want stuck with Maxis router means go for Mesh wifi system like similar to Airties 4830 that maxis offering for 500mbps and 800mbps customers it will help out. I’m using Maxis 500mbps at my shop plus maxis bundling me 2 unit of Airties mesh WiFi for free Maxis staffs are just enables all WiFi signals from router and mesh WiFi. So what I did is I disabled both 2.4 and 5ghz WiFi from router and enable WiFi from mesh WiFi now I’m almost 300 to 400mbps even if I away 15 feet away from router

What happened again with Maxis Home Fibre at Ipoh today?

Latency increase to 3X again from 5-6ms now 16-20ms.
Earlier this afternoon speed reduced less than 1/10 from 30M to 2M.Now normal again for the speed issue but latency still very high.

Doing unscheduled maintenance works or routing messed up again?

Call up the customer care support but the attendant blur blur don't know what is happening, say nothing is going on.

Twice in a single month already. It started to become frequent when I was called up by a sales agent asking me want to upgrade my line to 100Mbps a not few weeks back says my line contract going to expire soon.

Any chance got insider staffs playing hanky panky messing with people's lines nearing contract renewal either to frustrate them to get them off the network or to renew contracts by musical chairs between telcos on TM HSBB network?

Just yesterday getting 5-6ms to Maxis Subang test server, today my pings suddenly shoot up to 15-18ms. Even wired desktop also same.Rebooted modem also same.

You switch from Maxis Fibre to Astro & Broadband when your maxis fibre contract is not over, or already over?

And during the migration process, do you experience any disruption in Internet service?

Currently this node/server is is bad state Maxis: 58.71.243.49

My modem ping to regional gateway/concentrator only 3-4ms but from gateway to this server: 58.71.243.49 ping is as high as 17-18ms upon next hop.

What is happening Maxis ?

High packet drops and this node is showing very unresponsive behavior.
Got people trying to DDoS your network, Maxis?

Please ask your network administrators to have a look at it.

It's really annoying. This is already 2nd time happening this month in northern region.

LOL lucky you.

Right now, Maxis doesn't allow existing Maxis Fibre customers to migrate to Astro & Broadband until the 24 mths contract period is over.
Last time can, now cannot already.
