Hi guys... My area is under own Maxis Fibre network (not TM HSBB), and I'm currently on Maxis 30Mbps RM89 plan.
I have both standalone Astro and Maxis Fibre subscription. My family and I don't use Maxis for mobile.
Anyone here subscribed or have any info on "Astro & Broadband" (not to be confused with Astro IPTV)?

user posted image

Would you guys think that it is okay to change my existing Maxis Fibre to "Astro & Broadband"?
I've done my calculations, and I found that I can save quite an amount of money per month with Astro and internet service combined, compared to existing amount I pay for both standalone Maxis Fibre and Astro subscription.

The info I got is, "Astro & Broadband" partnered with Maxis to provide the service, so if I make the switch:
- Existing Astro STB will remain connected to satellite dish, and Maxis provided WiFi router (TP-Link Archer C5v) will remain and continue using it as it is (just like now)
- Internet service itself is still from Maxis like now, but billing wise, it'll be paying to Astro.
- Technical wise, the server/routing will still go to Maxis, as Astro themselves does not provide Internet service.
- If there's any technical network issues, need to call Astro's IPTV department (03-9543 1543), not Maxis.
- Contract 24 months, or penalty of prorated RM2400 if terminate within contract period (RM100 per remaining month). Can switch back to standalone subscription of Maxis Fibre and Astro once contract is over.
- VoIP home phone service is not included. Or, pay additional RM20 monthly service fee (no unlimited calls or whatsoever) to use VoIP home phone. Billing will still be under Astro, not Maxis. Home phone number can be remained even after switching to Astro & Broadband, but no new DECT phone will be provided. (I don't mind, since I don't use home phone)

My concerns is more on service support:
1) Can I expect the network quality and performance to be exactly the same as now, and won't be affected by any means, just because I'm on Astro & Broadband, and my area is under Maxis? The IP address and domain wise, will still show as "Maxis", right?

2) If there is a network issue (speed problem, some websites can't access/too slow, no Internet access at all...), is Astro be reliable enough to escalate the case to Maxis, including noting down the issues faced and arrange technician to come my house to check/fix, instead of "after making a complaint/report, few days later still no reply at all), hence expecting customers to follow up the case by contact the customer service again and again.

Since my area is under Maxis own fibre network (not TM HSBB), would any technician visit appointments thereafter be the same, efficient and quick as what I have now on Maxis Fibre's service support?

3) Right now, only 30Mbps and 100Mbps speeds are offered by Astro & Broadband, yet Maxis has 300Mbps to 800Mbps packages.
Should I worry that Astro & Broadband would not follow and offer same/similar package offerings by Maxis as soon as they introduces new higher speeds at lower price packages (e.g. 100Mbps for RM99/month). How long does it takes for them to provide/follow the same revised Maxis Fibre packages then?

Would the history happen again where previously Astro IPTV customers had no choice but to stuck on their old 10Mbps at RM128/month plan until their 24 months contract is over, and they can choose to terminate/switch back to standalone subscription thereafter.

4) If Astro doesn't bother my complaint much on network technical issues (which to be escalated to Maxis), would Maxis would somehow try to help me if I contact them, as my last resort? Or I should just make a complaint to MCMC? I know "Astro will try their very best to solve...", but that is just "what if".

---

Did I missed out anything, or anyone here has more info to share about Astro & Broadband?
Thanks.

do u know what the channel they offer ?
i only cab see astro sports in their web/faq
*

Channel offerings are the same as the usual Astro package offerings. Just that if you subscribe that, you'll enjoy both Internet service from Maxis as well as Astro, at a cheaper monthly price.

Right now they have offer of 30Mbps + Family Pack, all for RM99/month. You can add on whatever packages you want, and you'll get more discounts by choosing bundle packs like Value Pack or Super Pack.

As for the details, need to contact Astro sales agent and ask.

Cheaper price is one thing. I'm concern on the after sales service, especially with the internet service by Maxis.

family pack is rm39.90 on normal astro, izit ?
coz i currently subs that one
if yes then i can save rm29.90

Yes.
As long you subscribe to the usual Astro, for sure you'll subscribe to Family pack, unless if you add other packages like HD, movies, sports, etc.

Hi guys, just went to maxis to upgrade my plan from 100mbps to 300mbps and router is using ASUS AC68U. We upgrade at 11am and now it’s 1pm. The person told us it will be effective after 2hrs.

And my speed still only stays below 100mbps and on Netflix show 15.5mbps for 2160p movie

So I am wondering is it my router cannot support or the upgrade haven’t done successfully?

Hmmm... Have you tried restart your router?

Already contacted Maxis on 20th October, Maxis technician only came yesterday (28th October). Apparently they only change the settings inside the router.

It is easier if they can just tell me on the phone. I also can do that , dont need to wait for 1 bloody week
*

Try contact Maxis to give you some refund for the number of days you're unable to surf the Internet. Prorated refund.

For home, can sign the package that comes with SIM card as a backup to home broadband package?

I think you're referring to MaxisOne Prime? Yeah that's basically how it works... The router provided by Maxis comes with 4G LTE, which can be used as a wireless backup in case of fibre network down.

I feel very sad and disappointed.

First time using Maxis Fiber 30Mbps, on the last day of the Month my Internet down. Further checking due to BTU from Unifi was spoiled.Need to wait around 3 week for 5 minute jobs of BTU replacement .

Then on 6 month using Maxis, for unknown reason the internet was down.
This time no light on Internet icon for the BTU. No sure why.

Got USB Modem backup as I am Maxis One Prime customer but the speed that make me really frustrated the most. I live at Kota Damansara not some very rural area.

I can only get around 0.1Mbps - 0.2 Mbps when running Speedtest. Put near the window then can get 1Mbps.. yet still unstable.

This time, not sure how long will it takes for Unifi Tech and Maxis to rectify the problem.

My work required lots of remote.. and 6 years using Unifi previously longest down time was only two days.
*
QUOTE(cipan2001 @ Nov 18 2019, 12:15 PM)
Yes, agreed. Unifi Customer are their main priority.

If simple and free.. I surely jump back.  cry.gif
*

It's likely that your situation is an isolated case, and does not reflect the entire Maxis Fibre service quality.
When that happens, and Maxis did not attend to your case fast, you got to keep follow up with Maxis to expedite the process to replace new BTU, explain to them you need reliable internet for your work.

You can also follow up with Maxis via Live Chat https://chat.maxis.com.my/login.aspx

You should've tell them to come replace it as soon as possible instead of waiting for weeks due to whatever reasons. You're a paying customer, that's not the service you should be getting, or ask for a prorated bill rebate for the number of days you're unable to access to Internet.
If you're still not satisfied, you may lodge a complaint to MCMC. https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/

My Maxis Fibre is down today, with LOS blinking red. My neighbor is facing the same issue too.

Even they can give us a temporarily internet, I believe it would be very slow. I wonder, can we ask for rebate pending them to restore?  I am still waiting them to call back to arrange for house visit.
*

You may request Maxis for bill rebate after the issue is resolved, counting on the number of days you're unable to use Maxis Fibre.

Can. Discuss with the contractor that is renovating your house, so that they can plan accordingly.

Anyone here knows what are the ewallet providers or payment platforms out there do provide benefits like cashback, or earn points upon making Maxis Fibre bill payment?
Besides credit cards (that can earn reward points upon spending)...

cannot migrate, new application, maxis told that you need to terminate the line in order to proceed the application, you may not guarantee for the port or lost of port and if you are still within the contract period, the penalty fee to be applied,

speechless...
*

Calm down....
It is the same damn thing as Astro + Broadband of the 30Mbps package.

"Astro + Broadband" 30Mbps for RM99
RM99 - RM39.95 (Astro Family Pack) = RM59.05/month.

It's the same thing... Don't get fooled by that RM59.05.

Cannot migrate? What I know is, if you contact Astro that you're already on Maxis Fibre, they can assist you to migrate to Astro + Broadband without any service interruption.
Cuz at the end, the internet will still be Maxis Fibre anyway.
However, your 24 months contract will restart.
And you can only enjoy RM99 for the period of 2 years. Meaning after 2 years, your bill will become RM89 (30Mbps) + RM39.95 (Astro Family Pack)
which is the same price as what regular standalone Astro and Maxis customers are getting.
But by the time it happen, Astro shall have new packages/offers for customers, then have to recontract another 24 months to enjoy that discounted price, then the same cycle repeats.

Seriously ah, which irresponsible Maxis technician or contractor leave that Maxis FDP box open like that?

user posted image

Or, this is something very normal? Cuz it's already been weeks...
This area for this FDP box is under Maxis network, not TM HSBB.

On a bright side, not bad ah, at least their FDP box can tahan for few weeks exposed with the sun and rain, yet no network disruption occur also. thumbsup.gif
If it's TM Unifi one, then maybe hard to say. sweat.gif

Hi guys, just wanna confirm
For maxis one prime bundled with maxis one mobile plan
There’s 300gb video streaming cap on both main line & subline. Is that correct?
*

Not just streaming.... According to the FUP (fair usage policy), it includes any data usage, accumulative to 300GB per month. If exceeds, they have the rights to throttle your speed whenever necessary.

Confirm any usage of data more than 300gb, they will throttle youtube down to 480p... other internet uses not much throttling... But sometimes internet is very slow, not sure if its the 300gb cap or congestion..

However VPN easily rectifies this... When throttled, vpn will make youtube back to normal speeds... However sometimes when internet very slow, vpn will make it faster!! Therefore im not sure if maxis is throttling just youtube or all internet activities...

Anyways, Unifi finally reached my house... Should i use Maxis fibre or unifi? I know im asking on a maxis thread, but i read a lot of negative stuff about maxis fibre... Anyone wanna add in? Im staying in tanjung bungah penang..

Thanks sifus!
*

Which VPN can do that? biggrin.gif Share to us leh...

No fibre ISP is perfect.
You got to decide which ISP that you are more confident where its customer service support can give you better service, especially when it comes to technical fault, pricing dispute and others.
For me, I'll recommend Maxis lor... Maxis is better than TM Unifi for many reasons.

Some customer use TM Unifi and they're okay with it. It's not that TM network are bad, but...
When problem comes (e.g. modem problem, network down...), then you'll see TM's customer service will start to show their true colours ady...

Yup I tumpang other maxis subscriber.. actually a local maxis shop help me do that.. just register RM89 lowest fibre with our maxis plans then = unlimited data already..

The vpn i use is NordVPN... really no joke, sometimes turn on VPN = faster speed... but I really suspect cause vpn bypass the throttling, not that it's faster.. And I'm using Maxis mobile internet.. not sure about fibre throttling and etc..

Still in dilemma.. RM89 already two years contract... now another contract if go with unifi...

Nordvpn can configure direct in router ?

Done
No, my nordvpns are directly on my phones.. I DO NOT HAVE FIBRE YET... we were talking about the 300gb throttling for maxis one prime Mobile plans....
*

shocking.gif shocking.gif
That's something new to me eh... Use VPN to bypass throttle Maxis's speed cap...
Btw just to remind u guys, the official Maxis customer service agents are actually monitoring this forum topic from time to time... Pandai pandai la, if wan to share info like this here... Try not to reveal too much... Later maxis network team find ways to counter bypass the speed cap by the particular VPN, liddat all maxis customers kena, then that vpn trick doesn't work anymore or they make it harder to work 😓

I would imagine...
If you stay in a terrace house, and every single houses uses mesh WiFi (2 or 3 or more nodes) for their home WiFi, the WiFi interference to and from the neighbours will be enormous.
But without mesh WiFi, the WiFi might become sucks to some users... hmm.gif

It's like radio wave pollution, but still, Internet and WiFi connection performance shouldn't affect too much, unless it's far away from the nearest mesh WiFi node..
I mean, if use WiFi Analyzer app to check WiFi frequency graphs and stuff, and see tons of WiFi networks stacking each other even on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, it's almost like no difference than what you'd experience within a shopping mall building.

Just saying... sweat.gif
