I just received a call from Maxis (or their agent) offering me a free Samsung 65" 4K TV if I signed up Maxis Home Fibre with 500Mbps and above plan. I just need to pay RM1 for the TV. I am currently a Unifi user with 1 year left in my contract. They even offer to pay up to RM500 of my penalty fee if I terminate my Unifi account now.

Can someone confirm if anyone else also received this kind of offer from Maxis?

Yes there is, it's legit. This is how they 'steal' other competitor customer.

At the end is your choice. Choose wisely who is biggest in fibre provider.

Obviously TM is the biggest fibre provider. My only concern with Maxis Home Fibre is the connection stable and will there be any throttling by Maxis on my torrent download.

You must remember, TM early termination need to pay remaining months while Maxis only pay you RM500. If out of contract still can consider.

Yes I've considered that. With my current plan and duration left in my contract. I need to pay about RM2700. Maxis is paying RM500. That means I'm paying RM2,500. The only thing that will really offset the termination fee is the 65" TV which cost around RM4,000 to buy.

Hi guys,

I'm an astro subscriber. Recently I got a call from maxis that offered me maxis fibre for RM59. The thing is the astro that I subbed was for my sister's house and I live in different house. Is it possible to let my sister use the astro while I use the maxis fibre for my house or both has to be in the same address?

Your statement stated that Maxis Fibre has its down-time from time to time? Which means Maxis has a stable connection problem?

hi guys, im not sure if this question has been asked and answered again and again but I would really like to know how to do port forwarding on stock router (Archer C5v). I tried to set port 80 (common port) open and try to check if port is open, and the port checker app says no. I wonder what I did wrong tho. Like could anyone guide me?

my statement means that ANY ISP can have its down-time from time to time.
My down-time situations was once in December last year when the modem supplied by TM had issues and need to be replaced ..It took almost one week for TM to replace it.
The other down-time situation was when the Fibre cable connected to the whole neighbourhood street of my Taman was cut by a would be thief trying to disable security alarm to make it easier for that bastard to break in to houses he had aimed.
Prior to being a Maxis home fiber subscriber, I was on UNIFI 500Mbs and migrated to Maxis ...Under BOTH situation, that is where and when the backup 4G USB dongle came in handy ..can still stream and asses internet smoothly for whole family of five

Maxis's international routing is totally in the mess now.

The IPv4 routing path to some SG servers now starts from Cyberjaya(NTT MSC)-> HK -> US -> SG via Cogent

M247 (AS9009)
IDC Frontier Japan (AS4694)
Singtel (AS7473)

No doubt Maxis's main international bandwidth provider is NTT Asia. But it's connectivity now to Japan is very lousy getting even worst for the past few weeks.

The removal of Singtel(STIX) peering somehow broke most of their vital Japan links.

NTT Asia is HK based. When I connected directly to Japanese servers such as:

AS2519 ARTERIA Networks
AS9009 M247 Global Servers
AS4694 IDC Frontier Japan
AS2527 Sony Network Communications Inc.

Their speeds like become crippled or throttled.
Getting around only 512kbps-4mbps..

M247 Singapore server the ping got as high as 37-40ms which previously was just 16ms before the removal of Singtel as its peer.

The traceroute roundtrip will go Malaysia-HK-SG instead of directly into SG.

Just sharing... One of my friend residing in Maxis ADSL area, he received this heart-breaking letter from Maxis, saying that Maxis will be switch off its ADSL copper Internet service in his area.

Then, my friend told me that Maxis told him that they'll switch it off on end of September instead (not 31 Aug), so meaning no more Maxis ADSL Internet from October 2020 onwards, for his apartment.
That apartment, is just a 5 storey apartment/flat, like a low cost housing kind. And that apartment, is exclusively Maxis only, and under Maxis ADSL territory. TM Streamyx and Unifi never exist there at all.

Maxis do not plan to install/provide fibre Internet in his apartment, and 3G/4G signals from pretty much all telcos are very weak due to coverage blind spot (possibility partially blocked by a small hill/slope), so he's kinda headache now.

4G signals outside the apartment; open air carpark area are about -100dBm, but as you enter into the apartment unit, signal becomes weaker and pretty much unusable (Basically, you'll have to go out of the apartment, not even at any balcony or corridors, in order to use 3G/4G Internet).
Complained to MCMC, reply from Maxis is basically "no plans for offering fibre", and then case closed. Got complain equal to no complain.

Try write to Multimedia ministry and your ADUN rep.

During Gorbind era, internet is classified as essential services.
Just imagine if one day TNB tells you your house electricity will be cut in a month, ask you to use generator onwards. Or Air Selangor wants you to dig your own well.

Got use meh?
Alternative solution is already stated there, use 4G wireless broadband service.
4G cellular signals around the area are already poor, let alone using 4G wireless broadband service?

All you need is a pegawai from somewhere tells Maxis CEO >> "Maintain the ADSL there, or pull fiber."
Never try never know.

However if you have accepted their proposed alternative then different story... by all mean stay quiet.
