QUOTE(rawrkun @ Dec 20 2014, 11:19 AM) If I were to join the new co, will my current employer knows when they apply for my new pass?? If I'm not mistaken, you can't immediately switch companies, need to finish off your employment with current company sampai last day then current company cancels your EP and hands you 30days white card then only your new company can apply new EP for you. But not certain. Summoning ICA officers puppyee elvenchou to clarify.

QUOTE(avengers88 @ Dec 18 2014, 03:23 PM) Hi Guys, I need recommendation on places to stay and which handphone sim card should I get. I will be working around tanjong pagar mrt and hoping to get handphone data of 2 GB at least. Thanks! I'd personally recommend Singtel but M1 and Starhub are fine too. I believe all telcos offer a 2 year contract with 2GB of data if memory serves. As for accommodation, how much are you prepared to dish out for rent? I would imagine the rentals for accommodation in the vicinity of Tanjong Pagar to be quite expensive!

M1 is totally out of the question.. my first line was with singtel.. but the signal is always not strong enough to give me 4g.. and I cant even surf a single thing in MRT (north south line).. after I changed to starhub.. I get 4g most of the time.. and also pretty good signal in trains (LTE mostly) and I can surf freely.. on top of that.. I think starhub is cheaper than singtel.. so I never regret switching to starhub and can consider 1 of the best decision I have made here in sg.. p/s: probably this also depends on where u move around.. for me.. city area + toa payoh.. With Singtel, I get 4G coverage quite easily too! But you are right about the signal being weak on the NS line.

So basically my current co will need to cancel my work pass and till then, the new employer will not be able to do anything? I'm planning to work till mid Feb, and maybe take a short break till the new pass is sorted out. I just did a self assessment with MOM and im eligible for the pass but still it depends on them as well.. but the question is, will my current employer knows that i'm joining another firm? my relationship with them is quite good, hence im not so keen on telling.. my assumption is that they will only be able to find that out if they're bothered to trace my status with MOM after i've joined the new co. Hence my reason of resigning to take some time off will be correct at the time that i tender it.. hopefully the sifus here can verify and possibly advise on the taxation thing as well.

Your new company cannot apply for your pass unless your old company cancel your pass. You have to tender first. You can choose not to tell where or which company you are are going to next, but you still need to resign formally

Thanks for your recommendation studyboy. I will take a look at Singtel and Starhub packages to see which one more suitable. I am actually hoping for about $700-800 for the rental in a good area. Does not have to be too close to Tanjong Pagar, as long it is close to the east west MRT should be alright. Do you have any recommendations? I checked my EP status online still no record too although I gave all information to HR last week already.

Hey all. I am thinking on an offer to work in SG from Feb next year onward. Company is MNC and I think career progression should be good, will never know for real until I start there.
For those working in SG, do you think 4 - 4.5k enough for a 24 yrs old, single and not the type to really splurge, as I want to save some money to bring back Malaysia.
Plus, will be working in Shenton Way, where to stay ya?
Thank you!
