QUOTE(rawrkun @ Dec 20 2014, 11:19 AM) I just got a new job offer, but still unsure of whether to accept it or not.. permanent position with an MNC with about 15% increment from my current salary. However there's no 13 month bonus and the place seems understaffed at the moment.. If I were to join the new co, will my current employer knows when they apply for my new pass?? I dont really feel like telling my current co that i'm joining another firm, and was thinking of saying that i want to go back to malaysia first to take some time off.. If you are on WP or EP need to cancel your current pass with MOM

QUOTE(rawrkun @ Dec 22 2014, 12:15 AM) So basically my current co will need to cancel my work pass and till then, the new employer will not be able to do anything? I'm planning to work till mid Feb, and maybe take a short break till the new pass is sorted out. I just did a self assessment with MOM and im eligible for the pass but still it depends on them as well.. but the question is, will my current employer knows that i'm joining another firm? my relationship with them is quite good, hence im not so keen on telling.. my assumption is that they will only be able to find that out if they're bothered to trace my status with MOM after i've joined the new co. Hence my reason of resigning to take some time off will be correct at the time that i tender it.. hopefully the sifus here can verify and possibly advise on the taxation thing as well. Your new company cannot apply for your pass unless your old company cancel your pass. You have to tender first. You can choose not to tell where or which company you are are going to next, but you still need to resign formally

QUOTE(bearbear @ Jan 8 2015, 04:13 PM) Guys, i was employed mid of 2014. (Less than 183 days) So for declaration of income tax, i will be charge a flat rate of 15%. Is my understanding correct? You will most likely be paying for 2014 income in 2016. Mine was like that when I started work late 2011.

QUOTE(centrio1981 @ Jan 10 2015, 10:11 PM) It's not CPF but EPF. The employer has confirmed able to contribute to Malaysia EPF. The tax I believe is 15% for this salary bracket. Nevertless, would anyone suggest to move down for RM1k extra? You'll only be taxed sgd7950 and only gets to pay next year, it's not deducted monthly http://www.iras.gov.sg/irashome/page03_ektid282.aspxWorth it to take up this job

QUOTE(kl87 @ Jan 26 2015, 05:51 PM) Hi, Just got my international driving license, got one question. I'm Singapore PR, can i drive my own malaysia car / malaysia rented car, into Singapore using my international permit ? I only got malaysia license and international driving license. No singapore license. Technically cannot. But there's certain condition to be met if you want to drive your Msian car. Can check this article here. http://geraldgiam.sg/2013/08/malaysian-reg...ring-singapore/It's only on case-to-case basis and you still need to pay the OMV of your Msian car in S'pore car equivalent value. On top of that you will need to pay the daily $35 VEP fee. Not worth to venture down this road. Just buy a resale SG car

For those of you who have been offered a higher position to relocate back to Malaysia, how much higher would you demand from your recruiter, considering Malaysia will tax the max 26% on salary?

QUOTE(rawrkun @ Feb 8 2015, 12:38 PM) Guys after the ep cancellation, is there any other place to return the card besides mom and epsc. The hr told me to just drop them at the deposit box. But both places are locked up on weekends . Heard that I can do that at the CIQ as well but I can't find much info on that from mom website. Hope someone here can confirm that. I thought it is the responsibility of your HR to return them to MOM within 7 days after cancellation? Why employee have to be responsible for it?

I like this LKY quote on producing smart babies:
“If you don’t include your women graduates in your breeding pool and leave them on the shelf, you would end up a more stupid society… So what happens? There will be less bright people to support dumb people in the next generation. That’s a problem.”
Rest in Peace

QUOTE(kron_ka @ Mar 31 2015, 11:54 AM) In the accountancy line? I also heard is it true, if a malaysian guy earn MYR 10k, he apply job to spore, they will hire him at 25% X MYR 10k/2.65 ? They will translate from our MYR salary? It shouldn't be that way. Should be paid at market rate You should demand for the budget that management set aside for that position

QUOTE(Lefty @ Apr 3 2015, 10:36 PM) anyone had any idea what is the fair rate for a Sr.Engineer with 6 years exp and a MBA rate in Singapore manufacturing line. Seems that they are pressing my price quite a lot compare to Malaysia pay. What is the fair factor ? is it current MYR salary x 0.9 ? or x 0.8 ? x 0.7? I knew a senior engineer when she was offered inter company transfer from Msia to Spore the HR offered 30% decrease in dollar to dollar figure Rm10k become SGD 7k for eg. But that was like 3 years ago when conversion rate was just 2.40 This post has been edited by knwong: Apr 4 2015, 12:09 PM

QUOTE(deodorant @ Apr 4 2015, 09:00 AM) libragurlshirl personally I think it's a ridiculous concept that a family member must accompany a grown up adult overseas to study. I'm the oldest in my family and if any of my 4 younger siblings request something like that I'd be like yeah right, you're a fully grown man/woman now, time to learn to stand on your own two feet. Having said that, if moving to SG is a better career move for you anyways then I don't see why not. While it's more difficult to get a job in SG now thanks to the extra wayang step companies have to do for the FCF, the door isn't closed yet. For me my best luck in job search has been posting my CV on LinkedIn and efinancialcareers, applying for jobs there and waiting for recruiters to call me. Of course one commonly accepted thing is that it's easier for you to quit your KL job and come to SG for the job hunt. How much easier is anyone's guess. Malaysians are only allowed to stay in SG for 60days in every 90days period (max 30 days at a time). Not ridiculuous la. This is Asian value. Unlike Caucasian, age 16 will be ask to move out from parents house to stand on your own feet. My brother when pursuing his Master I invite him to stay in my house, reduce his financial burden.
