QUOTE(Thrust @ Jun 9 2014, 10:17 PM)
Let me help you guys know more about cars and engine oil. The reason why SC insisted on not changing the oil is because there's a reason to it. All new Honda cars are filled with a special type of engine oil from the factory. Its different from those sold in the market or SC. This type of oil are meant for new engines that requires breaking in thus the composition of chemicals, addictives etc are different.
If you guys google more, u will notice Honda USA have explanation on the 1,000km doesn't require an oil change.
I hope i gave some useful info for you guys.

City CVT Mode
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
QUOTE
To make it easier to understand, CVT varies between a set of ratios (Let's say 3.5 to 0.7), while for 5AT each gear has its own ratio.
D mode = All ratios is being used for maximum efficiency (For AT, which means all 5 gears can be engaged, and CVT can vary into all the given ratio)
S mode = O/D Off, for Honda 5AT you are left with 1,2,3 only since 4 and 5 are OD gear. The same goes to CVT (which means the ratio range is now reduced to 3.5 to 1.0) hence dubbed as sport mode since with shorter ratio your rpm stays higher, and shorter ratio (lower gear) means more responsive throttle, and also better traction. It is like how you would go to lower gear on slope/going down hill/taking a corner.
L mode = Only the initial ratio (means only first gear for AT, first ratio range for CVT) used only for heavy towing or you are really going down a super slope
by ZeroSP
QUOTE
Yes, if you going up genting and you want easier time, put it to S mode. And going down hill the same also, you will want to use the lower gear ratio range in S mode.
I dunno what car you drive before but to sum it up.
D mode = D mode just like any car
S mode = O/D off in most general automatic car, or some car marked as D3 (As I have seen in Kelisa), cause their D is D4.
L mode = Same like normal L mode
Maintaining CVT and its performance, install a CVTF cooler (normally referred as ATF cooler, but since this is not an AT, I call it CVTF cooler), it works the same just to cool down your transmission fluid.
And for Honda, use the premium CVTF from Japan instead of normal grade CVTF from Singapore. The premium is called HMMF (Honda Multi Matic Fluid) that comes in 4 litre can and cost 2x of normal CVTF. Many claims they are the same, but I tell you no, it is far different. I have used the HMMF for the my home old City, the ATF-DW1 Ultra for my sister's City, and also the MTF-3 Ultra for my bro's FD2R. All Japan version have superior response, especially in the CVT and AT, since for MT the gear change smoothness depends on your clutch control.
Note: The new City CVT is paired with Torque Converter, therefore I am not sure whether HMMF or the HCF-2 should be used as I do not own the new City. Kindly refer to your manual book.

Tips for CVT

Tips for a long-lasting Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
Below are guidelines that will help lengthen the life of the CVT (belt system). The CVT allows for very simple operation (no gear shifting), but it must be driven by an informed driver. The CVT offers many advantages, but it is also the easiest component for an uninformed person to damage.
Maintain a vehicle speed of 5 km/h or more (at least walking speed). This prevents the belt from slipping which generates heat / wear. Do not overload the vehicle. An overloaded vehicle causes excess slippage/heat to the belt (especially when starting uphill). Always have a mud guard on front wheel (it helps prevent dust and debris from getting into the CVT). Try to always stop on level surfaces or in a downhill direction (reduces belt wear over the long term). If you ever smell burnt rubber, stop the vehicle (its probably the belt). If the CVT or powertrain begins to vibrate beyond normal, do NOT continue to drive. HILLS
If starting uphill from a stop, use the brake until the transmission engages (do NOT let the vehicle roll back as you push the throttle) Do not utilize the throttle to resist rolling backward (as people do with cars when on an incline) Use the brake to resist backward motion AND release the brake as you press down the throttle If you must go up a steep hill, get a running start (don't try to start from a dead stop) If you are going to "coast" down a mountain for an extended period Do NOT go faster than 15 mph (25 km/h) unless you remove the chain or driveshaft If you are coasting for many kilometers, remove either the chain or the driveshaft When going down a steep hill, it is fine to allow the CVT to engage so that you have engine braking If possible, stop the BUV on flat ground or on a slight decline. If pointed uphill when parked, accelerate firmly for 1 second (this allows the belt to grab without slipping). If on a hill or heavily loaded, ask bystanders to help push the BUV into motion as you press the throttle (as people did with the Model T’s). This reduces stress on the belt and powertrain. IF STUCK AND BUV IS IMMOBILIZED
Do NOT continue to push the throttle (a common way that belts are damaged) Ask others to push the vehicle back and forth (accelerate during the forward motion only) or, have several people remove the obstacle or, use a hand-winch or cable-come-along (keep one with you if in rough terrain) OTHER
Do not tow the BUV by raising the front wheel only (unless you remove the driveshaft) Do not tow other vehicles with the BUV If a small fray occurs on the belt edge, cut it off. Don't allow a rope, or twine, fishing line, string, etc near the CVT or the engine. If the belt gets wet, either let it dry, or dry it by putting a very light load on the CVT Store extra belts in a protected area and away from sharp tools & objects If driving through long grass, tall bushes, yearling trees, take caution because a twig can damage the belt if ingested by the CVT. When parked, always remove wheel chocks instead of driving over them. Do not substitute the the big sprocket (i.e. the driven sprocket) with a smaller size. Avoid driving the vehicle during a sand/dust storm (wipe-down inner surfaces of the CVT afterwards) Before wipe down, park the vehicle on level ground, turn off engine, and use wheel chocks. Do not let engine oil, gasoline, or diesel get on the belt. If the belt gets muddy, stop the vehicle and wipe down the belt and inward surfaces of the CVT Do not use a different size belt (write CVT part numbers on the BUV for easy reference) To observe CVT operation, put the vehicle on blocks & run the powertrain in a stationary position. Belt tension when engine is off: at belt midpoint, one can push the belt in about 2" & pull outward 1" If driving up a step or curb, Instead, hit the curb at 1 mph (and accelerate as each wheel contacts the curb). If possible, hit the curb at an angle (so each rear wheel climbs the curb separately) Do not get to the curb, stop completely, and then floor it

I just checked with my SA Those Key Chain, Torch light, Umbrella and mug are Compulsory wor... as for the rebate I get 1.3k. (penang) so did your SA mention when u can get your Ride?
should be the same as mine.... no allocation yet. too many bookings...
yea no allocation yet ! at first they said only blue and white blue wan is v spec white wan is s+ ! ok nvm i wait since i bookb for modern steel ! then after tat i saw vspec modern steel on da road i call them and they said they dun have any v spec modern came yet !
I also installed the same illuminated side-step as siamanggagap. But mine the lights are individually connected to each door. The lights tap into the door switch, so the light will only come on for the door that you open, the rest will stay off.
If you do not cut to wire but only tap from it, should be ok and not void your warranty. But if you cut and join the wire then it will be a problem. Also if you just tap the wire it is much easier to remove it later on.
Anybody check their car for fuse box cover at the driver side yet? Want to confirm this, don't feel safe the fuse box exposed like this.
for those who wanna do coating but only have a limited budget. i bought it at Jusco AEON for rm23.90. 1 bottle provides 2 full years of protection. PG Polymer Sealant is an exclusive "polymer glass" compound.. FB link https://www.facebook.com/pgpermaglass

As far as I know Honda do not give any free gifts. Everything the SA gave (even with Honda logo) is coming from the dealer or his own pocket. The cost is shared by the SA and his dealer/shop. For those who gets >1K rebate + freebies, your SA is probably earning a mere RM200 commissions.

so how much are they earning in commission per car (say V spec)? Rm 1.5k?
well, mine is senior sa. but i dun get any discount. no commitment as well.. so i assume he's gonna give me honda gifts only. i did. told sa i want V. then he showed E.. he said E is enuf, later can add on HU with reverse camera etc.. but in the end i stick to my choice V.
i suspect SA also get commission for the HU & Reverse Camera because the price is really high 3k.

Nope. I didn't get them to fix the dashboard gap because it wasn't that obvious to me. Couldn't be bothered
I complained about the air cond not strong enough, SC staff said it's normal because this one is like "half hybrid".
Then I complained about tyre & undercarriage noisy. SC redid the don't-know-what cover.
Then I complained about the 40KM clip sound. SC said normal because it's the modulator sound.
Then I complained about the outside-sound insulation. SC said it's like that one, this City has poor sound insulation.
I observed that the 40km/h so-called modulator sound only occurs once after starting engine, who can confirm this? After that let's say stop at traffic light and drive up to 40km/h again, I don't seem to notice this.
As for air-con, try closing the rear air-con vents, it helps for me. And side air-con vents blow stronger than centre ones, what I did was to reduce passenger side vent opening a bit in a bid to boost centre vents' air flow (I'm afraid of heat while my passenger(s) are usually scared of cold ).
Honda with no road noise feels boring, this is no boring uncle Toyota

Mustapa believe , another five per cent price reduction will be achieved this year. "We are confident that we can meet the five percent ( price ) targets this year , according to the company 's National Automotive Policy on schedule , to 2017 , " he said, adding that the goal of 670,000 units of vehicles and the total industry volume commercial vehicles in 2014 is also achievable.
Mustapa is to visit the company's newspaper editor NST operations in Balai Berita, here , from the senior officials of his ministry agencies . He said that so far this year , five new models , including domestic cars Alza Corporation and MYVI, and Proton Exora, has launched a lower price tag .
" Coupled with the previous model ( from 2013 ) , these models have captured 56 % market share, " he said. This is equivalent to 120,373 units in the first four months of total sales 215,098 passenger cars.
Domestic car MYVI, best-selling model in Malaysia , saw the price reduction of three percent in the last year by six percent this year before easing further . " ( The MYVI) prices have come down nine per cent overall , this is a steep decline , as we look forward to every industry average reduction of five per cent per annum , " said Mustapa .
He added that car buyers can expect the price of these models is yet to be introduced more competitive.
i take this fog lamp with tinted...so the price dcrease from rm350 to rm240 include installation.. so if no wire to cut and using jz plug...doesnt void warrnty leh?
I observed that the 40km/h so-called modulator sound only occurs once after starting engine, who can confirm this? After that let's say stop at traffic light and drive up to 40km/h again, I don't seem to notice this.
As for air-con, try closing the rear air-con vents, it helps for me. And side air-con vents blow stronger than centre ones, what I did was to reduce passenger side vent opening a bit in a bid to boost centre vents' air flow (I'm afraid of heat while my passenger(s) are usually scared of cold ).
Honda with no road noise feels boring, this is no boring uncle Toyota
never had any problem with the aircond. only set temp auto 27 degree. only driving alone or with "co pilot". :-) rear aircond off.
that means i need to bring my car to thailand to install the whole Modulo Package ? Do u know how much it cost ? Kinda Interested ? Paint Job and Installation all done in Thailand HC also ???
yup. 1st trip to make an order & pay deposit. 2nd trip for installation. that way u dont need to pay any custom tax.
rm2800 for the sport racing 2 package. rm400 for painting. rm60 for installation.

Definitely, will be installing it. But sad part is can't get the same features like Honda Thailand model with 3 views.
Hold your horse bro.. Definitely the camera gonna reach here, jz be patient and ready your money.. At the mean time, jz drive like usual, without the feature still able to live bro. The price will be cheaper when there's high stock & demand.

The fuse box is actually inside the car, right on top of the accelerator paddle this time. I also not sure why no box, because old school fuse box at least have a diagram of the fuse on the box itself. This time no reference for the fuse. Em...

Am I the only one feeling that fog lights with normal bulbs are practically useless when your headlights are fitted with whitish halogen (not HID) bulbs?
Switching the fog lights on and off makes no difference to me
officially gotten my car and spent the whole day with it. done tinting, installed reverse camera, brake + speed lock, auto fold mirror.
so far on 100 KM mileage. I gotta say i LOVE the car very much. those who said commented on the car for being underpowered, i really dunno what car was he/she driving, the car picked up so quickly. the CVT transmission was smooth and comfort was great too. (sound proof was bad gotta agree with that). FC was good too
Overall, i am a happy City Driver!!
add me into the PROUD owner list. and i mean PROUD with capital letters
Oh ya, very very satisfied with the work done by the acc shop that i got my stuffs installed. PM me for more details on price, location.

How's the installation process? Just stick the red emblem on top of the stock chrome emblem? Or have to korek out the old emblem?
hey guys hows the waiting list like? need to wait how long? planning to book a Vspec in KL
VickyG's SA told me i will get car in August. Just book on Saturday. I am cancelling my JB booking, because the SA didn't give me any offer. That booking can get car in June or July.

I tested drive on the cheap model city and the steering wheel do not have the buttons in the V spec
Looks very awkward when there are buttons on one side only
I no gip shit about steering wheel button. Only looking for a city driving car which is decent and doesn't drink fuel. Plan to install my own touchscreen LCD anyway.

My SA very reliable and kept his promises. 1.5k rebate + freebies
So now you know, but hey if you're going 180 on the highway nobody is going to notice the difference if its RM100 or RM280
so all emblem in our market was a replica version from china bcoz most of it comes in bubble wrapping. the different price for original & replica version can exceed usd500.
even there was a bar code on the wrapping but now i am sure it was a non original version from china.
do i want to pay extra usd500 for an original emblem? i dont think so. i rather change the emblem every 1-2 years after the colour fade.

Not impossible.
What I did was, I look for a big dealer (see their stock yard, see got a lot of cars parked there or not), ask the SA, "got ready stock or not? I ONLY WANT READY STOCK."
Big dealers with the parking space and $$$ can afford to order excess units and park in store.
I got mine from booking to OTR within a week.

Cos I wanted E spec which is not as hot-selling as V spec. Initially I wanted Modern Steel or Taffeta White, I booked on Labour Day so office was closed, cannot check for availability. Next day SA call me, say only got one unit black left. I was like, "Aiya, anything lar! Just take it!"
And I did not regret it, black is nice

legally by default you can't disable it. Honda wants you to agree to the T&C so the HU cannot be used against any 3long2short case.

Well i agree with the T&C, but i no need to agree to the T&C very time i start my engine. They should just get a paper for me to sign (1 time) and that will be all.
Imagine every time when you walk up to a toilet bowl, a message will pops up "please flush the toilet after use". If you don't click "OK", the toilet bowl will not open and you cannot pee or poo. Isn't that annoying???

Tried driving with Econ mode on last night...FC indicator really improved, but really very sluggish, every time move from total stop at traffic light the cars in front would leave me far behind

Overall very satisfying drive. Power is there when u need it. Good handling, light steering (hope it can be slightly heavier though). Finally understood what does the sound 40km/h kicks in feel like. Comfortable drive. I love this car.

We have the same spec, same color and same W....W plate.
Yesterday saw two WA plate Modern Steel Metallic City together on the Cheras Kajang highway....dunno is coincidence or both owners bought the cars together.

I think, I will only on Econ mode when - stuck in bad jam i.e. standstill traffic - cruising (not in a rush) at highway
At city stop and go driving, too slow throttle response...this morning a lorry at behind me kept honking me...mempersiasuikan badge Honda saja
It all depends on driving style. I have it on all the time. It gives me better fuel consumption. And I'm a light footer. So no effect on throttle. Personal preference
Limits torque and reduce air-con blower speed. That's what I understand from Google-ing it online
it will reduce the aircond fanspeed to reduce energy from battery and the same time disengage the aircond compressor pulley from dragging the engine belt.

IMHO don't touch the high beam
Using CrystalVision and so far happy with it

W5W? Is it the small bulb? CrystalVision package includes FOC small bulbs too, i.e. inside the package got 2 x H11 + 2 x small bulbs. Got it plus installation for RM180 at The One at Bandar Puteri Puchong.
Installed fog lamps at the same place (but different time), DLAA brand made in China (purportedly OEM type) for RM300 including installation.

i m not sure about the security of this tint. i am more concern about the heat resistance. so far the skies have not been too hot and it feels ok.
well, afterall llumar is a well known brand for tints. i think it should be fine if the price is fine too
suspect my car got faulty tweeter at right hand side T_T can heard "shhh shh, zeeeeeeeeeeee ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" sound when audio turn up high with heavy bass.
Can anyone elaborate further on the sound which is generated around 40km/h ? I'm considering to buy this car and have already test driven it, but have not noticed that sound or wasn't paying enough attention.

The debris didn't fly off luckily, but the thing fall down after smashed a few time and robber grab handbag....and my wife..dunno what she do...grab the handbag with the robber...the robber made off with the handbag handle when it broke.......I told her next time just let the robber have it lah...
So does this Llumar tint really can hold the windows intact???
actually thats the purpose of security tint..
1) to make it slightly harder for robbers to smash once and grab the handbag (they might need to smash 3-4 times) 2) once window broken, they will hold the glasses together so that it wont fly around and hit the driver/passenger.
security tint is not smash-proof. just make it abit harder for robbers.. at the same time protect ppl inside the car from flying glasses.

I observed that it occurs only once after u start the engine.
Once u drive up to 40km/h, u will hear a mechanical "trrrrrrrrr" sound. It's not too loud, but noticeable if u turn off the audio unit.

Even millions of dollars worth of equipment does not fold-unfold symmetrically. It is not a problem as long as it works.
My car is now on its 150km mileage mark and petrol consumption is about 25% d. i think my FC not that good. Whats my problem?
whats ur total milleage? new car usually higher fuel consumption..dont judge anything yet.. after few thousands of kilometer only be worried if high fuel consumption
i normally got 14-16km/l for each drive (econ mode always on), this morning got 20km/l due to less traffic (school holiday).
good to know that your car can save fuel but there's power when you need it.
yes tested the econ mode. drive on a straight road with constant speed, activating n deactivating the econ mode will see the instant fuel economy bar fluctuates drastically

That's why I only switch on Econ mode when I'm on highway and already reached cruising speed.
Sometimes also on it when stuck in standstill traffic.

I feel that our City can smoke even Altis

I felt the opposite. I have to press the pedal harder in econ mode. The engine groans and I feel like wasting a lot of fuel...

driving up to ipoh from KL tonight. some1 said it is not recommended to stay at a constant speed for too long?
If you intend to run-in your engine, don't stay at a constant RPM for too long. That might mean varying your speed as well, but pay attention to the RPM not the speed.

1st time getting new car , may i know what does run in mean?
seek advice from a pro, it says this Firestorm thing work to increase the sparks and burning capability, hence overworking the sparkplugs and shorterning the lifecycle of the sparkplug. Also might cause misfire.

Explain "overworking the sparkplugs"....
I know someone who has been using it on their car for 2 years with no negative effect. Some has even changed their spark plugs as part of normal maintenance schedule, and the plugs don't seem to be worn more excessively than normal.

The most major consideration is the price vs performance increase. Some may consider the improvements too minute or unnoticable to justify the RM250+-.
I believe some sellers offer testing sessions on your car, try it out before buying
Test drive unit probably won't have any problems when driving at 40km/h right?
99% of members here experienced that, u say leh?
To me, it's more of a nuance than a flaw, some members have complained to SC and were told that it's the modulator or something kicking in, I can live with that.
City only for city drive , why need performance o?? No offence
Actually after reading all the feedbacks and reviews, the fuel consumption is the main objective of installing this. Not many people reported there's a boost of power though

The seller explained to other people that it won't damage the spark plug one. You try to read all the user feedbacks and see.
Right in front of me is a new toyota altis 2.0G, And the cover below the Back speaker n rear light is not there also.. C-segment car also like tat.. So city owner don't expect the cover already.
i plan putting back my focal 165ps to front but i scare the rear speaker will spoil the sound of my focal
If you are using a DSP with active setup then should be ok. Some tuning shops might be able to tune it for you if you have an active crossover. PM me if you want recommendation.
I am changing mine to a PS 165 FX with Match PP82 DSP in active setup in the front. For the rear considering to change to Stage SPL series in active setup as well. Have no intention to install any sub.
