Asus technical,

I am unsure on how to use the Firewall_Network Services Filter.

I am trying to block access to any ports from the LAN to WAN from 1025 upwards.

I've left the first three columns empty and on the 4th column I place the 1025:65535 TCP ALL and UDP.
Is this the correct way ?

I then try to use my PC to access a website at port 8080 and it is able to do so ?
Then I try to on my bittorrent and based on the denied traffic logging, it is dropping the packets.

What is the right way to do this ?

Thanks.

Hi asusmy,

Would like to check with you the problem im facing on my printer on share printer feature on ac-rt66u.
I connected my printer thru router usb port using canon mg5570. I seldom switch on my printer. Only switched it on when i need to use printing. I found out that the router detected the printer but in my pc network connected using lan cable showing my printer is in offline or grey out icon.
Therefore the solution im currently doing is to reboot the router so that the printer to be able to print and the icon is not grey out anymore after rebooting router.

Hi kenhirai83,

May I ask some question regarding the problem you faces,

1. What is your current firmware you are using?
2. Which WiFi frequency you connect to, 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
3. What is the distance between your laptop and RT-AC68U, it is line of sigh?
4. What is your USB HDD connection type, USB2.0 or USB3.0? And which USB port you connected to.
5. What is the speed of your laptop WiFi and it is single band or dual band.
6. What file are you transferring to the USB HDD?

Thank you
*
Sorry for late reply. Not offen logon forum.

1. I am using latest firmware(using auto update feature from router). Need to check it when back home.
2. I connect though 2.4GHz
3. Distance about 40M like that. small condo size. router at living hall. pc at room.
4. USB 3.0

Last two question I do run some test after saw your message.
5. When i check my wifi connection speed. always fix on 54Mbps. Then i uninstall and install again the driver. But the speed only increase abit to 74Mbps. The file transfer rate does increase after that. about 4-5MBps

Suspect my wifi card are the root causes for this problem. Now still fixing.

6. Single RMVB file about size 200MB.

Another question. My friend seek for a router for his shop.
Coz too many user using the wifi and caused the Unifi stock router hang. Any model recommended ?

I also want to know the status for RT-N12HP support as well.

I went to Asus support page for the original RT-N12HP and it gave me missing page error each time. Even for Malaysia site, it display the firmware for the newer revision B1.

Has Asus officially discontinue support for the old RT-N12HP?

AsusWRT-Merlin 376.48 STABLE & AsusWRT-Merlin 376.48 STABLE Update 1 has been released.

Changelog:
CODE
376.48 (7-Nov-2014)
  - NEW: Added the RT-AC68P to the list of supported devices
  - CHANGED: Use sha256 checksums instead of MD5 for improved
             security when validating your downloads.
(note: checksums are also posted on the support
             forum at SmallNetBuilder)
  - CHANGED: Switched my fix for unmounted/hidden partition
support with Asus's own fix from GPL 3561.
  - FIXED: Samba would fail to start if the router admin username contained
upper case characters.  Samba was modified to have it try to
local the UNIX user as provided (it was previously only
trying upper and lower case versions) (Samba 3.6 bug)

Changelog:
CODE
376.48_1 (7-Nov-2014)
  - FIXED: Max-lease calculation Asus introduced in 376_2769 is
broken - re-hardcode it to 253 like they used to do in
previous release.  Will be properly fixed once they
release a newer GPL with this issue resolved.
           (Asus bug)

Hello,

I just bought the RT-N12HP. Managed to get it connected to Unifi.

setup the Wifi. Had some issues in getting it to connect to devices. Had to reboot devices before able to connect to wifi.
Speed and connection is fluctuating.
Had already updated to the latest firmware.
Is there a special way to set the Wireless? This is really troublesome.

Tried reseating the Antennae again and rebooted the router. Now Wifi is not detected.

Reset the router a couple of times to see if it solved the issue but did not.

Hope you can help

@AsusMY,

I have my Unifi modem on the 1st floor and connected to my N56U router.
Port 1 of N56U is connected to a unmanaged network switch before going to 2nd router on the 2nd floor.

How should I setup my router to have vlan.600 on the 2nd router so that I can use hypptv upstairs.

1st floor router: ASUS N56U
2nd floor router: WR1043ND v1.8 Openwrt

You are not the only one having wifi problem with the RT-N12HP.

Quite a few people here seem to have the same problem.

I am fortunate to have bought the non-HP version, the RT-N12 D1.

I have absolutely no problem at all with wifi, with 12 simultaneous connections, upstairs and downstairs.

With QoS properly configured, it can support online gaming, youtubing, torrenting and web-surfing simultaneously without breaking a sweat.

u bot new, do u know what model? a, b1, c...?

i have rtn12hp_b1, good with old firmware, updated to this new, also good, no problem:
ASUS RT-N12HP B1Firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.2048
http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN12HP/HelpDesk_Download/

but it says it is for b1, so u chud check...

actually, there was no need for me to "set up" anything.
only 2 things to do:
.. correct unifi router id and password
.. after selecting ppoe, make sure u select the right special isp requirements, unifi home, see video:

Yeah i bought new. Looks to be a B1.
Reading through the guides here it should have been straightforward but it seems that Wireless is not working properly. Just resetted for the third time and reconfigured. Same issue.

Wireless is not working properly.
If all the wireless devices in your house is capable of wireless N, set the Wireless Mode to "N Only"
Then set the Channel bandwidth to "20MHz"
Lastly, set the Control Channel to a channel that is not used by your neighbours.

Hi Wayne_DareDevil,

This is maybe due to the different H/W version. Try the one from the link below.
