The IPV6 feature of my ASUS RT-N12 D1 is not working after flashing it with the latest firmware version 3.0.0.4.374_5517.

Everything else is working perfectly.

The system log file shows "module nf_conntrack_ipv6 not found in modules.dep"

Currently, IPv6 does nothing.

In the future, IPv6 will do everything.

OK, here's the lowdown. The IPv4 space (abc.def.ghi.xyz) is made up of four octets (an octet is basically 1 byte) - each octet representing a decimal number from 0-255. Essentially, that's a space of about 4 billion IP addresses (that's how many separate addresses you can construct out of a 32-bit number, or 4 bytes). The world is running out of IPv4 addresses, but so far, through various techniques and tricks, we're still running along just fine.

IPv6, as you can imagine, is a much bigger space. The address is 4 times larger (128-bit, as compared to 32-bit), which is enough to provide an IP address for every atom on the surface of the planet. We won't be running out of IPv6 addresses any time soon. But... as of now, we don't need it yet.

ok, thanks for explanation, appreciate it.

Yes, I want IPv6 support in this new router which replaced the TM-supplied Innatech RG4332.

Even the cacat RG4332 (in use for only two days) has IPv6 support properly implemented.

The latest firmware can be downloaded here.

By the way, I am quite happy with the router performance I am getting with Unifi VIP5.
The ping times are as low as they can get.  You can't get lower than that. tongue.gif
*
i m also very happy with it.

not just stronger and wider coverage but increased stability as well.
for a couple of months now, i do not get the ups n downs like last time.
ethernet or wifi, all is much more stable.
for vip10, 1mbps (quite often it stays at 1.1) = 3.6gb/hr, 40gb within half a day, still ok.
can easy wifi stream across pc n other boxes 1080p dts stuff.
the orig unifi router surely is not as good.

just cant be sure if the durability is as good
still, 3 yr warranty should mean confidence.

for typical 2 storey house, i recommend this asus rt n12 anytime, don't need more costly ones..

Setting it to higher mW makes no diffference. Tried that and it seems like that is the thing causing the router to malfunction later on.
*
i m sorry n surprised with yr experience.

i bought same rt n12hp 2 months back. mostly default settings, not even latest firmware.

all has been good, actually excellent, much better than the unifi router. i m pleased.

but... i seem to read about a lot more problems with wifi highrise (condos) than houses.

ru using in highrise or house?

Sup guys. Just an update again for tonight.

I removed the left antenna, the WiFi is now stable. I'm not sure what is causing the issue.
appreciate update.

think a few weeks ago, another asus user reported wifi problems and also finally found the solution by removing one antenna.

a good chance problem is qc of antennae or the antenna screw on connectors?

but so many questions.... which antenna for what... why the wifi problem... why the solution with one antenna... what about those with 3, 4 antennae? would to good to know a bit more... anyone?

Download the firmware again & use an ethernet cable to do the firmware upgrade.
DO NOT upgrade firmware over WiFi.

Once the download is finished, extract the file to the root folder of your harddisk. Do not extract it into another folder.
Example: "C:\"
*
thanks for yr cautionary statement, i was very careful when i upgraded just a few minutes ago.

RT-N12HP B1, using old firmware for 3 months. been reluctant to upgrade since it worked good, no problems.

this morning i decided to go 3.0.0.4.376.2048:

my pc is on wifi.
log in, downloaded firmware on usual download folder, extracted it there.
use firmware update option, it asks u where to update from, select that file in window prompt.
message wait 3 mins.
when done, it asked u to go thru the settings, password, etc.
then, at the point after unifi pw, trying to set internet connection, it kept saying timeout...
nothing worked, all devices no connection!
i sweated! sweat.gif

then i did REBOOT.
message came up, new settings now being applied, 1-2 minutes.
and ... viola, all is good again. biggrin.gif

so, not so hard after all, just a few minutes, and need to reboot. thumbup.gif

Hello,

I just bought the RT-N12HP. Managed to get it connected to Unifi.

setup the Wifi. Had some issues in getting it to connect to devices. Had to reboot devices before able to connect to wifi.
Speed and connection is fluctuating.
Had already updated to the latest firmware.
Is there a special way to set the Wireless? This is really troublesome.

Tried reseating the Antennae again and rebooted the router. Now Wifi is not detected.

Reset the router a couple of times to see if it solved the issue but did not.

Hope you can help

u bot new, do u know what model? a, b1, c...?

i have rtn12hp_b1, good with old firmware, updated to this new, also good, no problem:
ASUS RT-N12HP B1Firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.2048
http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN12HP/HelpDesk_Download/

but it says it is for b1, so u chud check...

actually, there was no need for me to "set up" anything.
only 2 things to do:
.. correct unifi router id and password
.. after selecting ppoe, make sure u select the right special isp requirements, unifi home, see video:

Thank you for your reply !!!    tongue.gif

I followed another video instead of this 1.  which is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7VUBSFy_es

Because I am living in Malaysia and the configuration in above video is base on my service provider Unifi. which I select PPPoE WAN connective type instead of Automatic IP (DHCP).

Should I configure it again base on the youtube link you gave me?
*
I followed the steps in the video I posted. Ppoe, tick the box at the bottom, select home unifi.
I assume u used the id and password given to you by unifi for router, which u must call them to get, not the wifi ones.

I do not know if it is different for maxis or others.

But it seems like the problem still the occur.  rclxub.gif

did u have this problem with the old unifi router?

the problem may be due to something else - faulty modem, wifi congestion?

Hi, need help. I recently purchased a asus RT N12Hp, it was working fine for the first few days. Later, the wifi seems to have a problem. My device keeps reconnecting to wifi and it gives lower speed or disconnect from network frequently. I didn't changed any setting so just couldn't know the reason.
*
It may be due to the tm modem.

Power off both modem and router, on again, see how.

TM modem can fail too. Mine failed after 3 yrs.

Report, they cam e, confirmed kaput, change new, foc.

The way u described, the only explanation is yr desktop failed to connect. Check the PC connectivity. PC Windows has networking diagnostic feature.

*
do describe the problem in detail... what firmware now, how did it perform before, how far when u say wifi, in house or highrise?

Hi Avfan,

The firmware version is 9443. Previously the issue was that devices connected to wifi were easily disconnected/always reconnecting and with lower speed, like 2mbps (Currently is using 30mbps). After firmware is updated, the devices are hardly connected to wifi and if connectec, with low speed, 1mbps.

It is landed property btw.

The first few days using this router RT-N12HP with no issue, after that, the above issue happened.

Thanks for your reply.
*
since yr router, unifi and abode is same as mine, i can only suspect:

... yr firmware installation was incomplete, need a total reset (there is a procedure).
... unifi incoming in yr area is currently experiencing serious problems (check with yr neighbors).
... yr modem may be cranky, about to go kaput (problem confirmed if yr phone set no dialing tone sometimes).

monitor and check it a bit more.

the rest, maybe asusmy can help you.

Not sure if this is a sign of my RT-N12 gonna die but only recently when I start to download around 5 torrents or more at the same time, the router shoots up to 100% CPU and hangs, never had this issue before. hmm.gif

how old is yr rtn12?

True but I just need some clarification if this is a hardware limitation of the RT-N12 or not. Torrenting at 30mbps causes router CPU load to be at 100% and therefore unable to do anything else. sweat.gif
*
my rtn12hp-b1, i never did any qos or whatever.

with good seeds, torrents do get to 3.5MBps if nothing else is on.

if something else is being used, torrent will go down accordingly.

everything still works good.

kinda smart but i never questioned why, never had to deal with it.

1.5 yr old unit.

hope it lasts!
