Hi, I have Asus RT-N56U and I was wondering if the Padavan's version of the firmware is better than official Asus firmware? From klseet.com seems to have better speed of padavan's compared to the official and I was also wondering will I void Asus warranty if I were to flash the custom firmware over Asus?

Thanks.

Many thanks for the reply.
Just that I thought since ASUS Malaysia listen to their customer they might've incorporated the same enhancement done to the router and working together with third party modders. So, I guess they're not. I'll stick to official fw then.

thanks again.

Hi bro,

Just got back. ABout the beta firmware you sent me, is that still valid to use or do you have latest version?

Also, will it reset everything on the router if I flashed it?

Hi ASUSmy, something weird happened with my wireless at home.
I'm using N56U and usually it can cover the whole 2 storeys even reach few yards outside my house.

But now the signal depreciate so much even the 2.4G only 1 bar on my 2nd floor (used to be almost full signal). 5G can reach but most of the time lost when I'm upstairs.

Is there a way to figure out what happened from within the router?

Hi nyunyu,

Try restart router and update the firmware to the latest. But most important is have you moved or adding something around that may blocked the router signal?

The latest firmware is 3.0.0.4.374.239.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN56U/#support.

Thank you

The router has already the latest firmware and there are no new thing added or moved at all.

Hi nyunyu,

Try do a factory reset and test on different device see it is still same or not.

If the signal are not the same as what you have tested last time then you can send it for warranty claim.

Thank you

RT n56u is shit router. Really shit. Wireless keep dropping every 10 minutes. Tried every firmware, even custom. In the end have to bridge it with DIR-615, which defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place. Just plain utter shit router.

http://code.google.com/p/rt-n56u/issues/detail?id=23

look at all the complaints.

I'm using N56U and facing the same problem before this, then updated to 3.0.0.4.374_239-g4cbbc2a and no more problem.

So, ASUSmy, there is a new fw available, is it safe to upgrade or will I facing the dropping wifi connection like spacelion above after upgrade?

@AsusMY,

I have my Unifi modem on the 1st floor and connected to my N56U router.
Port 1 of N56U is connected to a unmanaged network switch before going to 2nd router on the 2nd floor.

How should I setup my router to have vlan.600 on the 2nd router so that I can use hypptv upstairs.

1st floor router: ASUS N56U
2nd floor router: WR1043ND v1.8 Openwrt
