I have some questions on my AiMesh setup :
1) Main Router in living room (ground floor)
2) 2nd router as node (1st floor)
Connected by wired.

Connection is very stable, but when I check the details on node, my phone always connect to node instead of main router although I stand very close to my main router (I'm at ground floor), my phone still "love" connect to node which at upstairs. blink.gif

Under node > Clients > only can see "bind" and "Optimization", if I choose "bind", so it will "locked" to the main router, once I go upstairs, it will not connect to my "node" which is closer blink.gif
Is there a way to fix this ?
Is there a way to set priority router that I want my phone connect to?

I notice the mesh function is not "intelligent" and create seamless wifi for my case.

Hi sam240,

May I know what is the router and node model?

And can you try update the firmware to the latest?

Thank you

The best way is by separating 2.4GHz and 5 GHz.. If still connect to your unpreferred, you must reduce the TX power adjustment either 2.4GHz or 5GHz from Performance to Balance.

They are old routers: RT-AC88U (Main) & RT-AC86U (node).
Well, both been flashed to the latest Asuswrt-M**lin (both version: 386.14_2, no longer supported anymore sweat.gif ).
I'm not sure is the official firmware will work better? (sorry, I've been long time in M**lin)

Well, all the while separated, bcoz it confused to some of my 2.4Ghz smart devices.
"Reduce the TX", good tip, will try adjust it and see notworthy.gif
It only allow to adjust for the main router, so node will follow the level of TX as well?

Is there any ASUS equivalent all in 1 replacement for the TM provided Dlink DPN-FX3060V? As the fiber is terminated in the same unit now instead of the separate ONT unit? Thanks.

Unfortunately no, you will have to bridge mode the dlink and connect your asus router after the dlink

Anyone face isssue with CelcomDigi fibre with ASU’s 86u pro?

The installer came but unable to bring up the internet connectivity. I notice the BTU lan is now at port 2 instead of the normal port 1 at FTU.

Now they setup FTU - Celcom Rourer - Ax86u it’s very slow

My AX China set btw

what is BTU? same as FTU?

since your router is china set, does it come with VLAN profile or need to manually configure?

Hi, hope someone can help me on this.

I'm using Asus Zenwifi XT8 Aimesh with wireless backhaul and the connection between main and node show "Great".

1) My computer with shared folder is connected to the main router, when my Apple TV is connecting to the main router too, it can access the shared folder through SMB, but once I connect it to the node, it couldn't access the shared folder anymore unless I disable the AIprotection. How do I allow the shared folder access in this case without disabling the AIprotection ?

2) The shared folder transfer speed is very slow at 20 to 30 Mbps only with SMB 2.0, even though I can get more than 300Mbps when I do internet speed test. My computer is connected to wifi and Apple TV is connected to node through wired.

If I connect the Apple TV to the main router through wired, it can achieve above 200Mbps speed.

Anyway I can improve this.

Thanks !

What could be the reason if my Asus router takes a very long time to connect after a network disconnection? Even after I restarted the router etc.? It may be the modem issue or router issue now. If it happens again, I will have to switch back to the Maxis router and see if the issue persists, to determine if it is a router problem.

After disconnection, LAN 2 takes a bit of time to come back, and sometimes, even when it is already lit up, my Asus router still shows a red LED.

When I mention slow, it can take me around 10 minutes to restart my router (by pulling the plug or using the on/off switch on the router). I'm using the TUF-AX3000 model.

I hope it can be fixed from my router, as I prefer not to use the Maxis router, which I need to reconfigure again.

Maxis is using LAN 2 from modem to router's WAN.

Not a Maxis or Asus user, so here goes...

If you login to your Asus WebUI right after restart, on the right pane, click on Status. What is the status of the WAN port?
Wait for it to connect, what speed does it shows?

After that, what does the Internet Status says? Did it really need10 minutes to say connected?

Try with another network cable?

Clarifying question:
1. When you said reboot, you means just reboot the Asus right? Did you reboot the ONU as well?
2. What is the model of your ONU?

Alternatively:
You do not need to reconfigure your Maxis router. Just plug it in and see if it connect instantly. The problem seems isolated between ONU and Asus

Maybe power cycle the ONU as well and see?

Refresh the firmware at times may help with potential corrupted firmware.

Maybe you can look at https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin-addons.60/

It is a lot more stable than ASUS standard firmware and pretty much as good as you can get with a lot more features. ASUS works closely with this particular firmware developer so it's not something out of ordinary. I am running it on a 7 years old router by the way and at full wifi speeds.

It looks like could be a faulty modem issue. My LAN2 or LAN 1 just not lit up. Called Maxis and they suspected it’s a modem issue and will be replacing my modem. Hopefully it solves the problem.

Just got myself a RT-AX86U Pro and I can't seem to connect to my WAN (Unifi).

Are there any special settings that needs to be done or is it just PPPoE username and password?

You need configured pppoe with special isp requirement, from there choose unifi then enter your pppoe and password.
