Hi ASUSmy, any plan to include DSL-N12HP as supported router in the Asus Router Android app ? Both DSL-N12E and DSL-N12U already supported, so I'm hoping DSL-N12HP can make it to the list too. Thanks !

My Asus DSL-N12HP will hang after around 5 hrs if got download. The modem is quite hot at that time. Anybody facing the same problem ? Is it a common problem with this modem ?

I tried to download some big files twice, and twice it hang after few hours. Can't log in to the modem router until i restart it.

This morning I elevate the modem by putting something under the modem, use Chrome instead of Internet Download Manager to download, so far haven't hang yet.

Any suggestion ?

I already tried the factory reset and problem still persisit. Ok, will try the current setup for few days and feedback to you. Thanks!

Encountered the same problem again just now. But my bad, the modem didnt totally hang, only the wifi problem and i can still login to the modem using ethernet cable.

So, i changed the wifi channel to Auto (previously fixed channel) and turn off the nearby wireless dect phone, hopefully no more problem after this.

The service centre can diagnose and fix modem overheating issue ?

I dont know the exact temperature, but this is what I found out.

1) Normal internet surfing / streaming -> no problem
2) Heavy download -> After 5 hrs, wifi malfunction.
3) Heavy download with modem elevated few cm from the surface -> After 12 hrs, wifi malfunction.
4) Heavy download with modem elevated few cm from the surface and fan directly blow onto the modem -> After 24 hrs, no problem

So, it's looks clear to me the heat is the main issue here. When wifi malfunction, i still can connect to the modem using ethernet port and connected to the internet. Changing wifi channel doesn't help.

My biggest concern now are whether its design flaw or hardware fault that can be fixed, how service centre diagnose the problem. And the warranty process n how long it takes.

Went to the service center just now and request for replacement, hope they approve my request and hope replacement unit work flawlessly.

Asus replaced my DSL-N12HP modem router which have wifi issue suspected due to overheat.

However, this new unit perform even worst than my previous unit, with weaker wifi signal and overheat/wifi malfunction faster than before this.

What can i do, beside constantly cool it down with fan ?

The modem only around 3 months old

Yes, I tried that on my previous and current unit, but problem still persist.

Update : Confirmed the replacement unit are worse, after idle for whole day, at night just minutes after started the download, eventhough with cooling from notebook cooler, the wifi malfunction, and have to restart the modem. This happen quite often.

I'm using Asus DSL-AC52U modem for 8MB Streaymx. The internet / DSL link intermittently down and re-connect. I tried to disable Dynamic Line Adjustment (DLA) and Seamless Rate Adaptation (SRA), but the problem still persist.

When put back my Telekom modem, no such problem.

Anyone can advise ?

Thanks for the advise. But I already updated with the latest firmware which was released recently. Also, i factory reset it and re-configured everything but problem still persist.

I already PM u my system log, dsl log and the modem router setting. Pls help, thanks !
