I'm having nightmare with aimesh

AC86U +
RP AC55 in node mode

It will only work for few minutes and then the nodes goes offline. Crazy...repeat reset and setup multiple times....same shit. Try putting it at diff places, near far from router same.

And worse off, when the node is turn on(power on) and offline, it actually distrub my connection to the main router. The whole network go hairwire. When I turn it off.....all is good again. My god..is ai mesh even working?????

Force RT-AC86U to run on channel 36 for 5Ghz.

Remove the RP-AC55 and add it again.

Hi AC86U on latest firmware the channel is only 149,153,158,161,165
got this unit from taobao, thats wht channel 36 is hidden?

Read about this channel 36, but unable to find that setting

Yes, PRC models operate on limited bands.

Try changing region setting under the professional tab if available.
*
oh crap... the region setting is not available in the professional tab
Meaning to say aimesh has to be same region?
Bough AC55 Locally... And Ac86 from china

Anyone has same issue? Or I should get all china? Hahhaa..damn.

All my pic seems to be horizontal, it's potrait in my phone. Sorry

RP-AC55 doesn’t support higher channel ( 149 and above ) leading to this issues.

All Malaysia ASUS routers should support those lower 5Ghz channels.

phew.. manage to found a trick for it to work!!

somehow upgrading China Router from the automatic GUI will cause us to lose some of the functions.

So the trick is to manually download the firmware from china website, the release and md5 is diff, gave it a try...viola... region is back!!!!

Flash and then factory reset.

P/S : how to force mesh node to run on 2.4 instead of 5ghz??

AiMesh will auto decide based on the best signal.

But, for the case of RP-AC55, you need to fix the 5Ghz channel of your parent router to 36. Remove AiMesh node from GUI, reset the RP-AC55 with reset button just to be sure, and add it again for it to function properly.

Thanks for guiding me Tru. Now it's all working nicely.

Hi ASUSmy, I have been using RT-AC68U for few years now, recently i found out the 5G network seems to be unstable through repeater of TP-LINK brand, so i decided to change to Asus RP-AC55.
At first, I didn't know this RP-AC55 got Aimesh Mode, so i just want to use it as a repeater, I tried to setup repeater mode, but everytime my Mobile or laptop try to connect to the original Wifi to do setup etc, the repeater itself will restart with red led, even i able to connect the wifi, i am not able to access repeater.asus.com at all, and mostly with error cannot communicate with repeater or network.

Tried to use few different ways even apps to do the setup but still couldn't. So i suspect i got an defect item.

Got once lucky, i used WPS method, it connected to 2.4G wifi of 68U, but it still keep on restarting by itself.
Then i went to 68U setting, found out RP-AC55 can aimesh node, so i tried to setup in aimesh mode. and it works. But i still find out the wifi is not stable (lag, disconnect, cannot connect, error connecting, cannot get ip)  even in full signal. Mostly cannot get ip or no internet.

So i am not sure if it is Router issue or repeater issue. I tried to go beside router, the connection and speed seems promising.

below is my hardware model and firmware

Signature version
2.176

RT-AC68U
Current Version : 3.0.0.4.385_20490-g57b06ea

RP-AC55
Location : My Home
Current Version : 3.0.0.4.384_81156-gb025564

Thanks in advance.

You might as well don't put it on AiMesh and use it as normal wireless extender. Perhaps the stability is better.
*
I don't know what is the problem. It will work for awhile if I re-paring them maybe for 10-20mins then it goes South.

I can access 2.4ghz from my 1st floor, but I'm getting the AP as Mesh to have better coverage end up finding that if it's turned on, it seems to have some sort of conflict. Connected no internet or obtaining ip address for ages. But once I turn the AP(as ai node) off, immediately I'm connected to 2.4ghz useable but slow speed.

Dunno what so AI about this mesh. Gimmick?

Anyone face isssue with CelcomDigi fibre with ASU’s 86u pro?

The installer came but unable to bring up the internet connectivity. I notice the BTU lan is now at port 2 instead of the normal port 1 at FTU.

Now they setup FTU - Celcom Rourer - Ax86u it’s very slow

My AX China set btw
