Must have seen wrongly.. Seems like Digi subsidise 16gb phone more rm10 lol. I see no option to convert from prepaid to postpaid in Digi preorder though, only MNP and keeping existing postpaid number..

This is so subjective. You may first want to ask yourself the objective getting the iphone. Then ask your wallet. If you ask here, sure there is various of thoughts and opinion which at the end of the day, you will still listen to your initial decision, most likely.

Maybe you can compare the amount you spend if subscribe to data plan vs without data plan as you preferred to use wifi.

It could be the best answer to suit your need.

I need data all the time as I really need to response to emails and sometimes need data for other purposes like social networking, iMessage, whatssapp, etc.

And now for 1gb and above quota users on maxis, you'll not be charge after exhausting the quota like last time (PAYU) but the speed will be throttled.

Love you guys at LYN.

From the info here, straight away registered myself even though I have not received the email from Maxis!

Btw, any idea what is Maxis Wifi in the iValue plan?

Same here. Didn't even know can check availability already, until I came to LYN.

I don't have regret on 24 months. I change phone about 2 years.
I got my iPhone 4 32GB with contract at RM1,390 two years ago, with 24 months contract also, which just ended 1 month ago.

Now I need to pay 1499 for iPhone 5 32GB, 24 months also.
Guess how much I can sell my iPhone 4 . rm1k ? That means I top up rm500 only. smile.gif

To my surprise this round Maxis even using Passbook features in this registration exercise,
Next week I just have to bring my iphone and show them my passbook details to proceed with collection.
Overall I must say Maxis did a really good job in ROI !

Digi Phone Price RM2012+24 months Rm1440 = RM3452
Maxis Phone Price RM1399+24 months Rm2400 = RM3799

Digi savings over 2 years is RM347 which works out to be RM14.45 per month chearper than Maxis in terms of dollar.

But Maxis plan gives 2 GB of data and 333 minutes of free call time vs Digi 1GB Data and 200 Minutes call time.

On top of that Maxis have better coverage and service compare to Digi.

So choose wisely LOL.

Erm, no ppl care about this?
3 Data included in iValue Plans applies to local mobile Internet usage only and excludes SMS, MMS, and other subscription based services. The maximum charge for local usage is up to RM250. Charges of RM0.30/1MB will apply for subsequent data usage. While roaming overseas, the prevailing data roaming charges will apply.

I've created a comparison plan between all telcos :

iValue 1 vs iDiGi 88 vs Celcom
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

iValue 2 vs iDiGi 138 vs Celcom
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

iValue 3 vs iDiGi 238 vs Celcom
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Not gonna compare iValue 4, since there is nothing to compare with. Some of the information above yet to be confirmed. If you do find any errors, please let me know.

TS, you might wanna post this up on the first post.

Thanks smile.gif

Nice one bro.

Looks to me like Maxis still the most worth it. Digi should actually give better plans since their 3G is kind of like the worst amongst all telco (from my experience at least).

Hopefully not. I don't want to many people eating up the bandwidth and clogging the lines. laugh.gif

But I guess most people will go for Digi, like those on a budget of only RM 60. biggrin.gif

Better to go for White iPhone 5. The edges are seem more durable as scratches won't be that visible. But I just love my black iPhone 5 (currently on Singapore set) look since it looks exclusive. White iPhone 5 is similar to iPhone 4/4S. biggrin.gif

there are charges for exceed quota for maxis

from FAQ:
3 Data included in iValue Plans applies to local mobile Internet usage only and excludes SMS, MMS, and other subscription based services. The maximum charge for local usage is up to RM250. Charges of RM0.30/1MB will apply for subsequent data usage. While roaming overseas, the prevailing data roaming charges will apply.

Overall I must say Maxis did a really good job in ROI !

Anybody here have any idea why some people are selected, and some are not?

I'm a Maxis postpaid user for less than a year. Sometimes pay my bills late also. tongue.gif
So can't really be those criteria.
But if it is, worth a shot to ask Maxis double-check. rclxms.gif

So if the map is problematic, it's not a good phone anymore? shakehead.gif

Lots of alternative out there to replace the iPhone Maps. Try making your own Maps and see how difficult is it to catch up. Not as easy as you think genius wink.gif

I was using Note 2 for about 1 month before using iPhone 5 (SG set) now.

The maps app for iPhone 5 is totally crap (at least from my experience in Malaysia).
But I don't even use Google Maps anyway.
Just use Waze. The best GPS navigation app available. Free even! biggrin.gif

iPhone 5 - vast of applications, nicer camera and a platform which creates no hassle ( a true hipsters device too)

Note 2 - not as much of application as compare to iOS, long lasting battery and larger screen

Depends on how u wanna use it, choose depending on what u need from each device

Yeah, overall its a superb phone. Go catch some review out there. But I think performance wise the Note 2 wins. Quality wise, surely iPhone wins

There are some pros and cons on both.  smile.gif

Agree rclxms.gif
Ppl who prefer Bigger screen should choose note 2

Nice. Mind telling what email address is it? I have a friend facing the same problem as you too. sad.gif

I think calling their hotline surely won't work right.
I was using Note 2 for about 1 month before using iPhone 5 (SG set) now.

The maps app for iPhone 5 is totally crap (at least from my experience in Malaysia).
But I don't even use Google Maps anyway.
Just use Waze. The best GPS navigation app available. Free even! biggrin.gif

Overall usage you will find the iPhone 5 is much lighter, easy to hold, easy to type message, has the best keyboard for any phone now, superior quality apps, superior built-in speaker, top-class exquisite build quality (glass and aluminium with diamond-chaffered edges), easy to keep in pocket, very superior camera (Note II cam is crap), excellent bundled earpods, lightning charger is cool, etc etc. biggrin.gif

This i not sure .. maybe you got to check with Maxis
But i GUESS it should be alright ... as long as you received the confirmation ID with the plan details & most importantly phone number is correct
then i think should be fine & just go to your selected pick up date & venue.
But again, may call to Maxis just in case ...

Didn't get selected although registered the ROI straight away. But my friend did get an invite.

They specified, each person can buy two. That means can my friend help me sign up to another iValue plan for the 2nd unit?

Email they send out not at all in once.
I believe some might get back 2moro for notification for pre-book.

BTW Loyal or not loyal is randomly choose cant blame on it.
Din get invite then wait the Maxis center launch it.In the end u still get it.

Do u think 2 million people can pack into that small building "PIKOM ICT Mall CAPSQUARE"?
As well u can see there is time period they has set it.
So no point send complain on it.

correct bro, that's what stated on the FAQ page. Bear in mind only selected maxis center so you might want to call and check. best is pay deposit to secure your order, if they allow la.

I've been a Maxis customer since 1997. Imagine if Maxis has 1000 units only and all are reserved for Maxis customers based on seniority, then all newer customers wouldn't get it. If it is true that it is random, then that is fair. Blame Apple for the lack of stock, not the telco.

My wife has also been with Maxis just about the same time as I did. I got the invite, she didn't. Don't be butt hurt because of that lah.

Well hopefully, some of you are in luck. Despite receiving the email this morning, they just sent me an sms to notify me that an email has been sent to prebook. Hopefully, it means that they are sending another batch of emails to those who have not received.

Yes you can. You can purchase the iPhone 5 outright, subject to stocks availability & conditions.

I getting mine on Saturday 9am to 2pm slot. If they allow outright purchase more than 1 unit per person, I can help any of you guys to purchase. Like last year during 4S, they allow one account to purchase 5 units. I purchase 5 and sell 4 to forumers. smile.gif

I think that depends on stock availability.

Also, based on Maxis's invite, only One Club members can purchase additional 1 unit, while nothing was said for non-One Club invites.

I hope Maxis will have separate queue for those who pre-book during the 3 days launch (14-16 Dec) and those without pre-book or direct walk-in.

Previous years (iPhone 4 & 4S) at The Gardens & KLCC, they combined the queue and it is not fair for those who pre-book and confirmed much earlier.

You can't compare to last year. Demand for iPhone 5 is way different than with iPhone 4S, bro. I remember when I was at iPhone 4 Maxis launch at Gardens (2nd day), those people that lined up without pre-registration, ended up had to go home empty handed. Imagine about at least 3 hours of their time queuing wasted, just like that.

If you purposely go line up that day, and Maxis doesn't allow once it reach your turn, how would you feel? Just a thought.

If you have time to waste, then of course different story. biggrin.gif

Data included in iValue Plans applies to local mobile Internet usage only and excludes SMS, MMS, and other subscription based services. The maximum charge for local usage is up to RM250. Charges of RM0.30/1MB will apply for subsequent data usage. While roaming overseas, the prevailing data roaming charges will apply.

There is excess charges for data upon hitting quota for Maxis

thing i dun like about ivalue is the sms cannot to other operator...is for maxis to maxis only.

SMS is so rare now with iPhone.

iMessage and WhatsApp is what you will be using most of the time. So Maxis's plan strategy is quite impressive actually in this regard. biggrin.gif

Actually I also having same concern.
Because most of my SMS is to/from forumer.
So until both the seller and buyer know each other, sure SMS 1st instead of Whatsapp.
1 thing I don't like about iMessage is about the consistancy of our 3G.
I once talking to my relative over iMessage.
He's at Singapore.
Manatau got few SMS unable to detect iMessage so I terus kena charge for SMS rate.

I'm actually one of the many that having dilemma on choosing telco.
I'm currently a iPhone 4 DiGi user, contract ends at 01/01/2013.

You have to pay the subsidized price for the iPhone as well as advanced payment which will be deducted into your monthly bills.

If you have time to waste, then of course different story. biggrin.gif
*
i agree with you at the first place but do you think for those who get the confirmation will 100% attend for purchase and do you think there is not enough stock? Maxis is Maxis, don't worry. They do business so big.

I think we should clarify to all here.

For those who did not pre-register for Maxis launch at Cap Square, it's better off to queue up at MEP and Maxis Centres and have high chance to get the phone.

Only those that pre-register for launch event, should go to Cap Square.

Correct me if I'm wrong. biggrin.gif

If it is an invitation-only event, then it will be exclusive and within closed doors, like what I experienced in Gardens before when Maxis launched iPhone 4.

I dunno. But maybe it's worth it for the non-registered peeps to try their luck. Just that those that have registered would have peace of mind. I might even snag more iPhone 5 units if given the chance at point of purchase. biggrin.gif

Hello guys~ I got two questions here .. I wish there is someone can answer for me lol.

1) DiGi no more promotion for loyal customer to buy outright with some discount? If I'm not wrong iPhone 4 they do have this promotion -RM 300 for under contract customer. But iPhone 5 only got Pre-Order with plan now in website..

2) Celcom iPhone 5 paid RM 200 for booking fees, but the price would be RM 2199 as well? Cause when you booking, there don't have the real price stated !

Hi all!

i m currently using unlimited data plan ($99) + family value ($50). Contract ran out about 1year ago.

Should i get ivalue1? Or stick with my current one?

I hav registered for Capsquare event, but I would prefer outright purchase of 32gb black model.
Can i buy outright on event day? Btw is Sunday 16th

Yes it it worth for you to go with the iValue if you do use lots of calls and SMS. But however do keep note, there will be extra charges for SMS to other operators, 1300 calls, etc. From what I can see, you do use lots of data? tongue.gif If yes, keep the current plan you have.

For the launch event. You must get the 1st unit with the iValue plan and followed by the second unit outright purchase (This is optional).

How can I help him to buy if he is not around as he is the acc holder? I am not looking to buy another outright set. I'd like to buy another phone bundled with plan for my friend. Of course I will buy one for myself as well.

Please dont provide any answer if you dont know. I am looking for a reliable knowledgable person to answer this as I need confirmation. If cannot, I will ask my friend to queue the next day instead of following me that night without able to get any set.

Obviously can la. If the Guest is the principal line holder for the line, then how? So definitely would not be any problem to bring Guest into the event. The guest wont be able to get the phone without confirmation slip la for sure.

quite ok i think, but still find its expensive since i only need data mostly.

QUOTE(kimiheng @ Dec 7 2012, 10:01 PM)
digi is still best choice for u ma based on what u said tongue.gif
*
yeah, but prefer celcom wide coverage and digi sometimes very sucks in call quality , even though the data quite stable but slow.

Heyy guys, have you all checked the Celcom iPhone 5 Pre-order?

Why pay for RM 200? Is it to buy the iPhone 5 only? Lol !
*
Yep, you will need to pay RM200 to secure your unit at the Celcom branch you choose to collect. This is not to get the phone outright, but it has to be purchased with the plan later on when it is revealed. I dont know what is Celcom try to think nowdays? Even Maxis and Digi revealed the plan before allowing pre-order.

*
heheh, feel like a boss with unlimited data plan...

I'll give Maxis a call soon, since it did say "keep existing plan and number" but yet still require me to choose a iValue plan to get booking code.

Celcom will always be the late entry, just like iphone 4

But im sad theyre doing like this, puts us in very dillematic situations .

plus its very hard to send them our feedbacks.

submiited ROI , not getting invitation .

btw first page stated

2) I am currently a Hotlink subscriber. Would I be eligible for the iPhone 5?
If you are a Hotlink prepaid subscriber, you would need to switch to a postpaid iValue plan to purchase
the iPhone 5 on contract. However, if you wish to maintain your prepaid plan, you can purchase the
iPhone 5 outright at Maxis Centers & participating dealer outlets.

if i want get plan then can buy ? ivalue100 look great with 2gb and 333min.

hmm, i tot celcom has better 3g coverage?

if i want to take maxis, better to take surfmore plan then buy iphone5 outside, much cheaper data plan than ivalue.

so far only digi selling cheapest iphone5 + data plan.

Maxis data 2Gb
Digi data 1GB

So is Digi really cheaper?

Lol you are comparing a plan rate of digi rm60 with maxis rm100
Try comparing digi's Rm93 package with maxis Rm100
digi 450min (all netowrk) and 400 sms
Maxis 333min(all netowrk) and 200 sms(maxis-to-maxis) doh.gif
but i have to say thumbs up for maxis 1000min and sms to (maxis-to-maxis)

Dont think so.. they will need ur ic for verification and registration purposes..
Thats the prob with Maxis, why dont they let us choose our own convenient date to collect the iphone..
I got an invitation but not gonna be free on the 14/15 so just gonna waste the invitation just like tht..

digi standard tenure is 24month, 1399 ( 2years maxis ) + 100x24 =

only exp a bit than digi i88

but u have more minits
better coverage
more data
even if u compare with i93
maxis has higher speed , digi max at 700kb, while maxis ? no need say lah. haha easily few mb

Based on my calculation:

16 GB

ivalue1= ((100*24)+(1399))/24=RM 165 per month or RM 3.8k
iDigi88=((60*24)+(2012))/24 = RM 148 or RM 3.5k

including assumption of GST.

only diff with RM20...isn't it obvious that Maxis gonna kick Digi ass...

Went to digi store and asked about the pre-order they said that we can deposit any amount and the highest amount will be given priority. I found this way very bias so i went back home and called digi and they say said that for us to pre-order, we need to pay full amount... doh.gif

I think it depends on ur digi centre and its demand.. Im staying in a small town which the digi store dont even ask any deposit for preorder.. They just take my name and my phone no.. they said they will call me once the iphone is available..
But u cn always preorder from the website if ur worried.. I think its more secured becuase its in black and white where u will receive a confirmation email from them..

No matter how good digi's offer is, their network is very disappointing. You may pay a premium on maxis but at least their network is extensive and data connection is usually stable on most parts. I'll stick with them.

Also, I've got the invite from maxis. I m MOC member and average spend is about 280 per month, having been with the network for more than 15 years

Vox clamantis in deserto

Perhaps I'm a troll........perhaps I'm not......food for thought

http://www.newint.org/features/web-exclusi...lman-interview/

Richard Stallman: ‘Apple has tightest digital handcuffs in history

One of the greatest hackers of all time, Richard Stallman is something of a roving prophet for the free software movement.

He invented the first ‘copyleft license’ that made the results of his mammoth feats of computer programming free to use, share and change - without falling foul of copyright.

Stallman now travels the world making the argument that software should be treated as public knowledge and warning of threats to civil liberties in an increasingly digitized world.
.......
Those companies are very powerful. They are cleverly finding new ways to take control over users. Nowadays people who use proprietary software [programs whose source code is hidden, and which are licensed under exclusive legal right of the copyright holder] are almost certainly using malware. The most widely used non-free programmes have malicious features – and I’m talking about specific, known malicious features.
......
Digital handcuffs are the most common malicious features. They restrict what you can do with the data in your own computer.

Apple certainly has the digital handcuffs that are the tightest in history. The i-things, well, people found two spy features and Apple says it removed them and there might be more.

When people don’t know about this issue they choose based on immediate convenience and nothing else. And therefore they can be herded into giving up their freedom by a combination of convenient features, pressure from institutions and the network effect.

The rest of the article is a bit philosophical but he's generally right.

None of us in the modern world are truly free in his sense, but at least with Android there is far more freedom and choice.

Can you change the software keyboard on your iThing?

Want to ask about.

I'm existing maxis iPhone plan user of 4S. And then maxis sent me an invitation and let me register about iPhone 5. Yet, I made that register and my time is 14 December 6P.M - 10P.M. I'd register on the time so now do I still need to queue up? Around what time I should reach?

Why dont yall call or email the customer service and ask instead of ranting here.. I too think its unfair coz if im not wrong it is one of the priviledges of the MOC members to be invited to new events and launching right..

I called them yesterday. I asked them about iPhone 5 for MOC members. they told me, for the time being, there's no news for MOC.

Consider to get from sellers who just want the plan but not the phone.
