Yeah what matters is future customer support 2 years is just the cover behind u do not know how professional this ah beng sdn bhd are. Maybe he havent experience the worst before. The phone dont spoil ap da best spoil only he sure wish he get sme set.

Saving the rm200 today future also not enough to fix the issue.

I just wonder if someone take ap set for charger hissing sound what will they replace with?

No prob, I've been using android phone since last 2-3 years, learnt a lot. Not used to Samsung yet.

There is a piece of warranty card very small in the box he will ask u write your name and number. He suppose to submit as dealer behalf of you later samsung will sms u saying your warranty is validated already. If after 1 to 2 weeks no news can contact fallen to help register

Like itunes and nokia suite but for android samsung they using a software they call it kies. Ota update sometimes slow so safer use kies to back up and check for updates


Screen size on note 2 is amazing but sharpness and clarity can't beat iphone retina display and nokia clear black display

Put the number that u want to block in call reject list at call settings. I always do that to numbers from insurans guy.. grrr

It says supports flac but I havent tried it yet

Yes.. can also.. put numbers manually or in call log press and hold the number then add to reject list.

need some enlightenment - I can't install Astro File Manager on my wife's SIII, it will pop up an error saying insufficient memory. But there is ample internal memory available and i can still install apps which is larger size than Astro. So far only Astro got problem. The SIII is with WannaLite custom rom.

I think this is not phone related so I just ask here instead of the SIII thread coz i seldom go there. blush.gif

I have never loved such a phone so much like this Note 2.

When I bought my BlackBerry last year, I didn't explore it further after the second week...

This phone still makes m to explore further, thanks to rooting. laugh.gif


Anyway, if the 4.1.2 really happens. I can just install using Odin and the rooting still intact I supposed?

after that flash new rom / new kernel no HELP!
at the end i flash back stock rom with pc

i only use power saving just for call/messaging(sms/whatsapp) IF i plan not to charge my phone in 48hr.

How much to sell off an iPhone 4S these days? 16GB and new RMA-ed unit. laugh.gif

are you sure you delete init script before flash rom?

2. Flashing any modem needs to have the swap removed. If not phone will hang at reboot. Removing the swap mode is freaking easy. Just use any root explorer app, navigate to /etc/init.d folder and just delete the swap file. Remember to press “Mount R/W” at the top first before deleting the file. Restart phone and phone will goes back to original statusFlashing any custom roms through recovery or official rom using Odin in PC, you need not change the swapped status. The rom will overwrite it back to default status

I am getting crazy with omega. Anyone noticed this? When you put in passcode on your lock screen. The button react very slow.

Slowest is omega, followed by arhd, monxdified and hypernote.

Hunting for Note 2 is like an adventure. Haha. Been asking Harvey Norman (haven't arrive), Senheng (almost all outlet sold out).. Luckily I called SenQ and asked the guy to reserve one for me. The only 2 grey units left for the week.

I just install

New Recovey TWRP..New recovery setting..

Note: When you reboot recovery,,it take about 1 minute to enter the recovery mode.
unlike CWM RECOVERY 6.0.1.5, it take few second to enter recovery mode..

The rom very smooth but too theme...

Yup..can reset binary after root but each time flashing via CWM will trigger it again. Just leave the binary alone and reset only if you need to bring your phone to service centre lolz
Or if you use the paid one..can use the auto reset with each reboot.

root+ cwm -> triangleaway to remove counter -> system status still "modified" -> try factory reset and check again

I got few issues on my note now.

1. Everytime I reboot, will pop up on screen "Android is upgrading.. starting apps" not sure what is happening. Malicious program?

2. I got random restart 2-3 times this week.

3. Some apps forced closed few times

4. Oh ya, also cant get uogrades OTA due to rooted. Hmm.. what is the latest JB version now?

I began to feel uncomfortable.. seems like some scripts running wild. My phone is just rooted, stock rom, modified script for multiview. Thats all.

Also, this morning woke up see email from Google said somebody attempt to log in to my email from US. And on noon my friend call said he git spam emaik from me. Got worried, I change password of all my internet accounts this afternoon. Sighhh...

Anyone can pick up anything to advise?

Thinking to factory reset this devise and use it as totally stock. But it will be a hassle to restore back things.

Doing factory reset wont effect your root but it will wipe clean your apps. Need to restore via Titanium for apps and data after factory reset.

Hmm...

1. That is not normal. Do a fresh install of ROM. WIPE EVERYTHING.

2. Same as above.

3. Erm...try uninstall and install back. Clear data and cache of the app before uninstall.


I also got kena the gmail thingy last few months. Attempt login somewhere near Bahamas wtf? -.-" shocking.gif

But I changed mine and everything I had on phone and computer. Now all okay back d. rclxub.gif

Google account easily hackable. If you got link to google wallet better use 2 step login method for better security.

all those custom room are just minor, just remove bloatware and nothing much. Of course wan dexoxed coz want custom theme

As long as I'm using custom kernel (Redpill) the device status will always be Modified even after doing factory reset.
To be Normal..ithink must use both stock roms and kernel laugh.gif

I do TriangleAway then do factory reset..status Modified.
I flash CF root to remove CWM recovery then factory rest.. status Modified. That leave the kernel still on custom.
I dont have stock kernel otherwise I can try flash it and see what happen lolz
Btw..I still remember my status was Normal when I'm using CF-auto root only without CWM or custom kernel.

I have those black spots/patches on my Note I screen but only noticeable in grey/black background in dark room.
Luckily my Note II screen is pretty.

Nope, no issue even in pitch black room. Yes, previous Note has some slight dark patch in pitch black room but not really has any effect during daily use.

Yeah but their quoting price is way over priced. Usually original Samsung shops price are the same.

I install Triangle Away but it hang during Boot..
Cant go to CWM recovery mode..
Cant do anything..just stuck in Boot loop..
No choice have to Reboot to Download mode..
PC odin to install Ori Stock rom..
But the binary counter counting 1..
need to reroot again and install Trainger away to reset the counter to 0

Rom can be Odexed or Deodexed

Everything in android is APK. they are applications come in packages with the extension .apk. in odexed ROM, there is another type of file with the extension .odex. They are essentially parts of an application that are optimized before booting. It is said to speed up the boot process
The catch here is u cannot modify the apk freely because of the conflicting odex files

On the contrary, deodexed rom allows users to completely customize an apk without worrying about odex files. Deodexed means all pieces of an application arerepackaged back in one place

Oh yeah it seems that app need root. My phones are always rooted so i did not notice. Then i dunno how unless the twitter app have the option to change it like whatsapp.

i prefer to use battery bank then those battery charger pack , reason is i dont have to remove casing , back cover , and off and on the phone . u wont know when u gonna accidentally break the back cover or it got loose , also imagine when u in hurry or in the middle of something like call or playing games then battery low and u cant pause ....

to say honestly.. the smell of liquid armor and rainx almost the same

i use rainx on my car for as long i can remember and it really work. But when apply rainx, there always a rainbow color you can see after immediately apply and it will gradually less visible as time goes.

dare not try on phone though and it not really a nice smell anyway

I think there is a few but not me. I actually got into the bulk for liquid armor but ended up the bulk was cancelled.

Oh well...I gave up and stick to sp. Might get Spigen by end of this month or....armor suit.

Hey how do we make our phone to notify for every new email? My phone doesn't refresh my email box unless I press on refresh itself. My dad's note rings immediately for a new email and refreshes itself

Once you click on test, you will see one chunk of the battery gone but after that the battery really hard to drop liao.

i try the *#0228# code but after i click quick start my screen is blank for a few seconds... before i click the quick start button my battery is 77% but after i click it my battery going up to 80% rclxub.gif

Is it for resetting/calibrate. .or what it actually do.. lolz
I prefer getting true battery reading instead of some bogus numbers. Doesn't matter if the battery last longer or shorter as long as the reading is correct.

Got to agree with this. No matter how hard we try, battery will still drain.

Round the whole Lowyat..Times Square and Sg Wang..looking for Note2 two pins 2A charger (like the Europe AP set).
Just waste my time only..even the Samsung shop sales assistant looks blur when I ask bout the 2 pins charger. They keep pushing for the Tab bulky 2A charger....lolz doh.gif

TWbased rom always big big one. A few can get a bit lighter without Samsung bloatwarez. If you want small and light..get an AOSP/AOKP rom. tongue.gif

i'm using idefense pro body.. the quality is good because so far 100% no scratch on my back cover... i'm using bumper only... but honestly to say, it's really hard to apply idefense on note II compare with my friend's bb bold 4...

well i also don't know what is that test for. mine drop 11% after performing the test and then the battery seems like stay still at certain % before start drop like normal.

If you are new to android I suggest you stick to stock rom. I can tell you this phone stock rom is the best rom unlike other Samsung phones
I have tested most of the custom Rom n seriously I still go back to stock rom
If you do not want touchwiz ui just replace it with other launcher eg Nova launcher. The Samsung spen n other default Samsung features will still be there. Only you wont have Samsung proprietary Widgets available

I value more for those bloatwares to be discarded from my app drawer as i have many apps there. The stock rom performance is good enough, can't really feel any performance gain brought by ARHD. tongue.gif

I'm still on omega v4 and happy so far. A little tired to get into flashoholism.

Others have recommended monxdified, which will be next on my list when I get to it.

IMHO, PA is suitable to play on screens 7" and larger. I feel there's no point to mucking about with Phablet/Tablet mode on a screen of our size.

On a 7" device, it makes a difference coz you can force the app to increase the display area significantly. I have a 7" device and I forced Nova launcher to enable tablet mode for more icons. If you did this on 5.5", you will get a very cramped screen and tiny icons.

Thanks for your suggestion. I used to pure Google vanilla. That's why I don't feel like sticking to TouchWiz. The contact, messaging and so on are not as user friendly as I thought.

AOSP/KP roms are seriously lacking in features compared to stock rom. Apart from being light, they dun really have the speed advantage for our device. Plus they still have bugs since its new.

Yours is SME set..is it..? I think hissing sound comes mostly from SME 3pins local charger. rclxub.gif

it is a booth in hatten square ground floor near an elevator... i think malim is still operational... u can either go direct to malim or ask the the worker from the booth to do it... after all, they are samsung authorized dealer..

Here you go. Forgive me on the camera quality. 3gs camera has been know to have bat vision.
No i didn't get the sp as i already got one el-cheapo stucked. probably plan to get sgp curve one in future? or go full fledge otterbox defender.

Yes. The carbon fiber is textured. You can feel it. Obviously to me it's stellar compared to glossy slippery surface which have the tendency to slip. And yes, it looks much better in real life. Just that my camera phone optics are rubbish.

Between Omega and ARHD, which gives you a better life + performance? I mean...GENERALLY speaking..I in and out of so many roms until I can't remember which won when I tested personally. All I remember was it was close...real close hmm.gif

the topic on battery life is always very very subjective. How you use your phone may differ a lot from other users.
from what ive observed so far and using mobile data as reference (wifi saves too much juice, no point mentioning), 15-18 hrs with 4-5hrs screen on(6+, maybe) is the average life on a single charge..

my apps working/polling background :
weather update (30m interval), Greader(9 feeds, 1hr interval),
whatsapp, facebook, facebook messenger, twitter, google +
Google Now
GPS, Location 24/7

the only thing i turn off is location reporting. i find this too battery consuming

p/s waiting for samsung to release 4.1.2 so that i can customize pulldown notifications. i wana add nfc/sbeam toggle lol ....

Bring along your original receipt & your USB cable. And make sure you test it with another USB cable (eg. Note 1 cable) & see if there's sound. Samsung centre will ask for sure. I needa go second trip now doh.gif

It's a personal thing. grey body shells can blend along with the black carbon fiber. If you ask me. White carbon fiber should go well with your phone. For me it's just for the grippy feel and protection. Looks wise if you just stick the back panel it should look great

happy with every bit of it...

but i got 2 issues here...

1) the hissing sound from the charger, I charged last night and the hissing sound was quite noticeable when you put it near enough to you and if you have a sensitive ears. I read some posts above, to bear with it or to try with Note 1 usb cable? I dont have that cable, all i have is those galaxy S and galaxy ace usb cable, are they the same? What should I do, send it back to Samsung SC? anyway, I will be going tonight. sad.gif

2) the usb cable is very loose, it doesn't have that kind of "click" sound/feel when I plug the cable into it... goyang a little only, the cable is loosen and no longer charging already..... are you guys facing this issue too?

I will spend some time later to go through the thread too, but would appreciate if anyone can enlighten me on these.

oh ya, on the side note, the charge aren't they the same across those samsung smartphones? the samsung staff told me it's different voltage for this Note 2 and shouldn't be using other charger, but what if I use my old phone's charger such as Galaxy S or Ace's charger? is it ok?

1) You can send back to samsung for replacement if you want.
2) This one i think you also can complain to them. Its your right as a customer. tongue.gif

You can use you older charger just that it will take longer to charge.

Turn by turn navigation is not related to note 2. You can get it from navigation apps like waze, papago, sygic, etc. on any android phone.

There's nothing wrong if you use other chargers (S2..Ace or S). Only problem is it gonna take much longer to charge compared with Note2 original charger as the output different (2A).
Both the loose cable and hissing sound is not normal though many user choose to just ignore it.
Totally up to you whether you want to change the charger set at service centre. If no stock then it maybe take
some time for you to get a replacement charger.

I'll be getting the second unit of Note 2 today, hopefully it doesn't have the hissing sound and loose cable issues. I don't have those issues for my own unit, I hope it is the same for this second unit... Really troublesome to go to Samsung service centre.

Thanks, will definitely go back to ask for a replacement as well as the usb cable!

did many of you facing these issues? alright, will take note on the charger, worse come to worse, will just get a new charger.

Loose cable is quite okay with me as long as it doesn't disconnected or fall off by itself on a slight touch...lolz

If it is bad they would have recall 3millions charger worldwide. It depends if u are annoy if not u don't even notice the sound is there

Nothing wrong if you want to buy a car charger or a spare charger to use in the office. I have one at my workplace. Better have one..just in case you want to do some heavy browsing or downloading via phone.
Long term effect on hissing sound..maybe yes..maybe no effect at all..nobody knows yet..i think.

I called SME several days ago regarding to replacement.They said if the item bought within 7 days,customer should be better go back your dealer for replacement.The waiting period is totally depending on the procedures set by the dealer(normally need for inspection first and then see if they have the stock),in a standard case,it could be 3-7 days to get the replacement.If you bought it more than 7 days,SME will provide the service and if necessary,replace for you later.

SenQ..first year warranty by SME..followed by SenQ warranty.
If problem within first year..you sent straight to service centre. If you sent to SenO..they will also sent the phone to service centre. So why need to take longer journey.?
After one year then okay la coz the phone will be service by SenQ own technician..not SME anymore.
